The only way I know is to move them into a different folder. If you REALLY don't want them to show up, you could zip them up and delete the originals. They's about as good as I can suggest I'm afraid. Either that, or stop taking pictures of your girlfriend/gentials lol.
Too much porn on your phone, am I right guys?
Did u try to hide them with total commander or other file manager?

Changing the file attributes doesn't help. The album apps still show them. This is one of the things that bugged me when I made my "Hide Folders" app. It became a little pointless when certain applications didn't care about the "hidden" attribute.
Hi there
I use a Software named "Secubox". With this, i can create a virtual storage card which I can mount and unmount if i need it.
Its also encryptet, so the data stored there is secure and you have no access, if you don't have the password...
Works nice on my HD2, the only solution for this kind of data ;-)
else: put your pictures in a subfolder in Program Files... Album will show them only if you browse there....
Tip with the Program folder does it for me ! thank you!
Hi,photos in touchflo3D come by default from DCIM folder on your storage card . You can create a new folder called from example DCIM2 an put here photos that you don't want to see in the Touchflo3D .

That works for the very front of the GUI, but if you click on albums, you get to see the folders with images in them. I believe the above suggestion of putting your images in a program files sub-folder stops that happening.
Also, if you were to use the pictures & videos app, you can browse the folders all over the phone, so it's still not 100%. I think the suggestion of a secure, encrypted area is the most secure of the lot.
Either that or take my previous advice, and stop taking c**k shots lol.
Hi, I wrote the following script for my TP2 which did the trick. You need to have Mortscript installed.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=548841
Hide Photos
Not sure if this helps but what I do is :
I have on the SD card, a folder with all my data in called imaginatively Data.
In there I have Videos, Photos, Documents, and Hidden.
And pictures I don't want to be seen in Album, I put in the hidden folder.
Then in Total Commander :
Select the folder
Click File
Then >>>>>
Then Properties
This allows you to adjust the attributes.
Click Hidden, and click Recurse subdirs. (If you don't do the recurse, it will hide the folder but NOT the images within).
Then click OK.
Reverse the process when you want to get them back.
It's like 5 clicks to hide, and 5 to get them back.
No need to rename or anything, I found it works for me.
Hi,
create a new folder for private pictures and add to Album ignored list.
Example
Code:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\HTCAlbum\Ignored]
"Maps from TomTom"="\\Storage Card\\Western*"
"TomTom"="\\Storage Card\\Navigator"
"Musik"="\\Storage Card\\Musik"
"MSMetaData"="\\Storage Card\\MSMetaData"
"Camera"="\\My Documents\\Templates"
"MMS"="\\My Documents\\UAContents"
[COLOR="Red"]"Private"="\\Storage Card\\Private Pictures"[/COLOR]
with friendly greet
starbase64
yep
the upper post doesn't work, but no doubt the easiest way to do it is posted up by jaknife with recurse subfolders hide method
Another solution.. in the thread [REF]*Leo Hints & Tips*, at the tip no 64:
"64. Disable Unwanted Folders From Showing in HTC Album
Don't you find it annoying that HTC Album Shows lots of images you don't need to see when you select Albums like GPS poi icons? Now you can tell HTC Album to ignore certain folders.
Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/HTC/HTCAlbum/Ignored and add a NEW STRING VALUE
Eg if there is iGO8 in the root of the Storage Card you would create a NEW STRING VALUE with Value name iGO8 and Value Data \Storage Card\iGO8
This will include all subfolders inside the iGO8 folder. Save and reset."
works only in HTC Album, not manila interface
Hi,
Thanks to starbase64 and traianboala , I have tried the ignore string key, and works fine in albums program of HTC, but the images still appear on manila Photos & Videos (that is on the manila interface) any solution or another ignore string / list for the manila interface?
Sounds like you got alot of self made home private spicy photo's/videos..
stop taking pictures of your girlfriend/gentials lol.

Encryption programs
Secubox costs $39.95
http://www.aikosolutions.com/products/secubox-for-pocket-pc/
FreeOTFE costs $0.00
http://www.freeotfe.org/mobile_site/index.html
Guess which one I use! and FreeOTFE works great on my HD2! just remember to format the volume you create as a FAT32.
Works!!!

Is there such an app that exists that will allow you to password lock your gallery everytime you want to access it? This includes photos and videos.
ie: a girl im on a date with likes my phone and wants to play around with it, i dont want her going thru my gallery and seeing pics of me and other girls.
there is an app called lokpix or lokpixlite that you can set up to password protect pictures you don't want people to see. It takes them out of your gallery and puts them in it's own gallery inside the app. Then anyone can look at your gallery minus the hidden pics.

Ok fair enough, Photovault is one of the better ones.
it's not free, but its a small price to pay for not getting busted
I use file cover, it also locks videos.

- use Astro File Manager.
- creat a new folder, put stuff you dont want anyone to see in there.
- put a . in front of the folder. ie: .Private
- that folder can't be view in the Gallery, only Astro can.

Nice, thanks.
You can also put a blank file named ".nomedia" (no quotes) in any folder you dont want to show up in gallery/music/etc (but will show up in astro or similar)
i tried to create a folder named .Private , but it seems that Windows doesnt like this. It keeps telling me to type a folder name. Any1 else having problems creating a folder with a "." infront of their filename

Right because that's not a valid folder name in windows. You need to do it on your device (using a file manager program such as astro, or terminal emulator by typing something like mkdir /sdcard/images/.pron/). You could also use ADB from your computer and shell in and use mkdir that way.

You have to create a file inside the folder you wanna hide named .Private (or .nomedia).
I'm using a .nomedia file inside my 'files' folder. My wife doesn't see the need for porn on my phone, but what does she know?
Besides, I don't need my 3 year old finding such things. That would be awkward to explain...
Can someone please create an app that can encrypt folders instead of just individual files? There seems to be plenty of file and password encryption apps in the market, but I can't find any that will encrypt folders and it's contents. Maybe have the app password protected so when the user is in the app he or she can view the files in the encrypted folders without having to decrypt them. In otherwords no other app can view the contents until it's decrypted.
I'm sure someone in the xda forum is capable of this and I can't image I'm the only one that would find this useful. Willing to donate!
I believe the Biowallet Beta app does this.

+1
This seems like a useful app idea!
What kind of files are you trying to protect? I was using File Cover to hide images and videos in the browser, but I found it easier to just keep all my files in a single folder and rename that folder with a . before the title so the contents don't show up in the gallery. This doesn't protect anyone crafty enough to use said file manager, but it keeps my gallery safe.
I'd like if all files I place in a certain folder could be encrypted, so that if somebody steals my phone they cannot simply stick the sd card in their computer and randomly access anything personal/private..
I'd also like the folder to be password protected so that if my phone breaks I can open the sd card on my pc and get access to the folder content just by typing a password.
Please shout out if you know an app that makes this possible.
Regards -e
In the meantime you could try using Protector which can passcode protect any application.
Check out RR File Locker. Again, won't lock a folder, per se, but you can stick whatever files you want in there and organize into folders inside the locker. Encrypts and password protects anything you put in there.

Take out your SIM, run the installation over Wifi. I'd personally recommend pushing it from market.android.com rather than using the market on your phone.

When we speak about media files:
an empty < no media > file, in a folder,
ussualy solves the problem of visibility, for other-media focused-on board apps,
I presume is not what you have in mind,
The ussual way-the apps are protecting their data-in windows for example,
is to create their own file format, like: .cpt, .dat, etc...
Files on an external sdcard are recognised by the strings to them,
and thus known to the index...
but when you remove those strings,
you ussualy destroy also the files structure
although he files themselves still do exist...
In my humble opinion, only the separate, encrypted partition on an sdcard,
along with internal file format, may provide
efficient level of security that you seek for your app...
There surely always will be an app, able to see hidden contents,
especially on removable media,
but to be able to see it- is one thing,
and the ability to read its contents- is a completely different story...

1.there is always a possibility that something hidden locally- on board of your device-
could be found through a computer connection,
so if you wanted app sensitive data to be secure, this aspect should also be taken into consideration...
2. windows is just an example:
some dependancies are similar throughout many other systems- just because they work as expected...
An internal file format and file encription is to be found in some of the android apps as well
Ok, so my buddy had an app downloaded from the google play store. back when the S4 Mini was newish. He had some kind of photo/file locker app which all i can tell you is it made a folder on the internal storage simply called "Locker" and all the encrypted files that were locked with that app were in there but of course un-readable because that are apparently actually encrypted to some extent. the phone went overboard in the salt water, couldnt be repaired but i managed to get it running enough to pull the "locker" folder with all the locked data off the storage. He doesnt remember the name of the app used and no longer has the google account to look at his download history to find it. but the icon was blue-ish and it created a folder called "locker" on the storage. he entered his passcode on a dialpad looking menu and boom, his locked files showed up. but thats all i know about it. hes trying to get that data readable again, and changing the extension to jpeg or jpg or png didnt work. just wondering if anyone here may have some sugguestions of apps to try to get these files readable again, if i could find the exact program used my plan was to install it on his new phone. set a password and lock a random picture so this way the program would created all the directories or whatever it needed, and i can copy the recovered files from the old phone and copy them into the new phone in the appropriate directory, and hopefully unlock those files. sorry if im jumping around alot. so im trying to find a way to make these files readable again is the end goal. ive tried for days to get them unlocked. and if anyone can help me they are on these forums. Any help ideas would be greatly appreciated.

I uploaded one of the smaller files which should be the image and one of the larger ones which should be the video. both just say there are no previews available when i try and open either of them.
If the files were encrypted then no matter which app you use, you won't be able to open them. You need to decrypt them first. To decrypt them you need the password they were encrypted with and the encrypting/decrypting algorithm (provided by the locker app). I would try to find the app (and copy the files to its folder), or try to decrypt it using various decrypting algorithms, provided the app uses a standard well-known one.
