Probably a long shot with the lack of activity on this forum.
I have a cisco wifi access point on wpa-wpa2-tsk at work. It has a simple wpa key and no additional logins needed to connect.
Laptops and iphones connect fine to it with absolutely no problem.
However my desire connects but has 0 internet connectivity.
Any ideas on this? ive read alot of issues with getting through additional security authentications on other android devices but theres no further authentication or mac filtering on this hub yet theres no internet connevtivity.
Ive checked the Ips dns and gateways and it retrieves them all from the DCHP fine also.
Hoping anyone can shed some light - other wpa networks such as my home network work perfect - i dont have any access to this router config but as i said iphones work fine on it lol.
Thanks
Have you tried enabling "Best Wi-Fi performance" in the Advance settings within Wifi Settings?
indeed i have however i thought that was more of a signal power booster rather than anything else and the hub is on my desk and giving me a full signal (just no data connection).
Its funny the desire actualy holds the wifi conneciton at a greater distance than the iphone 4 yet cant access the internet rendering it useless lol.
i think this is a deep wifi driver issue.
wired
did you try change security level (eg only wpa, not wpa2 - or for testing: non)
My desireS works on wpa2 - but had problems with an win-phone in former times with wifi - and that helped...
Or did you lock any ports?
Tried to update the router-firmware? (that helped a friend with an iphone)
its a work router so unfortunatly i dont have that kind of access to it. I guess a firmware update or muddling about would work, but its frustrating that iphones connect fine and super duper android doesnt know what to do with it.
I dont expect a fix any time soon on this.
Here the same problem with using my desire on a speedtouch modem. Nothing worked I switched off the modem and turned it on again. It works very good now.

so is it working now on speedtouch? what did u do more than restarting the modem ? please
I have the same problem with my speedtouch and I did return the modem to Factory sittings. There was no passwords or anything, I did also disconnect all devices on the network and Nothing seems to work with me ( the same problem I got on 2.3 on my Desire HD) , so that give me a little hope in solving this problem by updating or downgrading
And Since no one manage to root the desire s (with s-on), that just leave no options for me right know :/
___
I did contact HTC care but still waiting their response
___
EDIT: HTC responded to my problem by simply asking my to "reboot the phone and trying again, if problem exists contact us again" .... Are they serious ??!!
I have a speedtouch modem also but no sucess with reseting it .
WiFi problem
Hi there,
I'm experiencing the same problems with my Speedtouch router at home while the routers at my office (Sitecom and some other brand) work fine.
Connection gets established, but no data will be transferred.
Before my update from Froyo to Gingerbread, all was fine...
Hope some solution will be found soon.
Regards,
Guys ..
I've just got one ( using speedtouch 585 )
what I did is:
1. connect to network, then go to the network sittings and use Fixed IP for the device u want
2. on the phone go to: sittings > wireless & N... > Wi-Fi settings > Advance
3. check " Use static IP " and fell in ur network infos
* IP address ( u can find it in your router or long-press to get ur network info from ur phone)
* Gateway : 192.168.1.254 ( I'm using this one from the link above " don't know way" )
* Netmask: 255.255.255.0
* DNS1 & DNS2 from ur ISP or u can find it in the router
4. Save then u can go online .. working so far everywhere including market and maps and should work with everything else
Hope it helped ( my original post HERE )
Edit: This is the Galaxy Tab 7 Plus 4G w/ TMobile...
So far I am loving it. I have had a plethora of Android tablets, including the Galaxy Tab 10.1 (until yesterday), and the original 7" Tab. Here is an issue I have not run into thus far...
Issue 1: I like my brightness settings to be %100 all the time. I always (almost) have a power cable with me, so I'm not worried about the drain. I have the auto setting turned off as to keep it from adjusting on it's own. However, everytime I open the status menu with the brightness slider, it is down to about %90-%95. I can't get it to stay on full. Also, and even more annoying, every time I open the browser, the brightness drops to like %30'ish and I have to open the status menu and slide it back up. The browser is where I REALLY need the full brightness the most, and it's the biggest issue.
I noticed this out of the box, adjusted settings, nogo, so I factory reset, and same issue. This is leading me to believe this is just a setting or something I am missing. Any ideas?
Issue 2 (THE BIG ONE): This Tab 7+ can't see my work wifi. It connects to my wifi at home just fine (did last night at least), which is also WPA, but it doesn't even see the one at work. It acts like it isn't there. In fact, and this is probably important, it is not seeing any networks up here, and there are at least 10-15 that should be visible from my location in the building (all but a couple from other companies). My G2x (Android 2.3) is connected to my work wifi just fine, and it sees all the others around us, the the Tab 7+ right next to it sees none. I also turned on the wifi router on my phone, it will not see that one either. I've verified the wireless is enabled, as well as turning it off and on multiple times and many reboots, nogo... I need it to hit the wifi at work and home so it isn't sucking my 4G data, so this is a big issue for me.Any ideas? I'm at a loss...
Also, to answer before it's asked: Nope, it's not rooted. I may do this at some point (as I do most of my devices), but for the moment I want to leave it stock and not mess with it. These issues seem like they should be resolved/nonexistant in the stock ROM, so I shouldn't have to root to fix them. Please tell me if this is incorrect...
Thanks for any help, sorry for the long post...
(pardon typos, I'm at work and multitasking, no time to proofread)
on the brightness broweer tip. use a different browser. its a known issue that the stock browser automaticaly dims the screen.

Thank you... You're right, it doesn't happen in Dolphin, however I am one of those weird people the really prefers the stock browser...
The biggest issue is the wifi not showing up. I am updating that issue with more info now...
what channel is the wireless network on? i had a similar problem on my windows laptop, it cannot see the wifi.. turned out that my wireless card(the driver actually) cannot see any wireless network beyond channel 12.. who knows you're having the same problem, might worth checking.

Ours is on 6... Thanks though
for me it was the opposite, it could see my home wifi, but not my work.
only was to solve it was to setup a static ip at work for the GT7...
I called samsung, they said its a problem with some routers. No eta on fix other than static IP.

Just to chime in - I also have the same problem connecting to my work wireless network but I think because it uses a SEPARATE authentication scheme.
The way my office WLAN work is like this:
1). Connect to the WLAN with SSID "Office", no encryption password required
2). Once the Tab is connected, it WILL receive an IP address
3). Open up a browser (Dolphin, etc.) and try to go to any website (Google, etc.)
4). Instead of going to the website I typed in in no. 3, an authentication page will show up
5). I need to enter my Windows AD account and password
6). If its successful, then I can start browsing the Internet (but not going to the Internal network, that requires VPN access).
Step 3 is where the Tab FAILED to do so. It just doesn't want to get redirected to the authentication page.

Yep, same way for me at work. OP did you try to manually add the wireless info vs letting the tab "find" the access point?

Also, here is a strange thing. About 2 hours ago it notified me there were wireless networks in range, and then showed me 2 random networks from another office. Suddenly, it saw nothing again. Then about 5 minutes ago, while I was in the bathroom ( ), it suddenly showed me ALL of the surrounding networks. Yay! I tried to connect to the one I use, it took my password, but never even attempted to connect. Then, they are gone. Now it doesn't see them.
What. The. Fuuuudge.
Hi all, this is my first post and sorry for my english
I have a big problem with my galaxy sl, i can't use wifi connection (eduroam) in my uni (http://venus.unive.it/wifi/index.php?cmd=eduroam_android Venice)
I have followed the istruction of my uni, but wifi don't work
I have read http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1477743, i have tryed all versions but the connection don't work
I use miui rom v2.3.23 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1538234) with default kernel.
Do u have a solutions???
thanks to all
Hey there!! I also have eduroam in my University and I have never been able to connect it. Sorry then!!
Same problem here (with eduroam and another similar wifi network in my university).
Actually I was able to connect, but it worked few times. Usually after a full wipe my phone connects flawlessly to wifi, but after that connection, another full wipe is needed.
In my case, it seems that the phone is unable to get a valid IP, because using a fake IP, gateway etc (in wifi settings press the menu button and then go in advanced) it will immediately enstablish a connection (no internet connection of course). I tried to put valid infos once (I had with me my laptop connected and I copied all the infos from it, I only changed the last number in the IP) and it worked. That's why I think is an IP problem, but maybe it was luck .
Maybe doing a sort of "wifi config reset" solves the problem (at least in my case), but it means that everytime I should reconfigure it... I simply gave up and I use my 3G connection .
I found this weird workaround time ago, but I never tried it. I think it worths a try.
===
EDIT:
Strange, you use a different config. I thought all Eduroam networks would have used the same config. Here mine's:
SSID: eduroam
Security: 802.1x Enterprise
EAP method: TLS
CA certificate: "Not specified"
Client certicate: the downloaded certificate
i will try ur config next week but, my friend can use edoroam with a acer liquid (2.2 foryo) with config written in university site.
IMO there are a bugs in the kernel of galaxy sl because a lot of android phone can connected to eduroam
Up
I tried again after I saw this thread and I now I'm quite sure that my problem is an IP problem. I played a little with airplane mode/static IP in a random way (as suggested in the link I posted) and finally I enstablished a connection.
Usually, right before the connection, my phone asks the credential password. And that's weird.
Anyway I discovered something interesting. In our /system/build.prop we have:
Code:
...
wifi.interface=eth0
...
wifi.interface=tiwlan0
but
Code:
getprop wifi.interface
gives as result tiwlan0 and that's ok, this is our wifi interface.
But after that I went to see some other config files and I found that in our /system/etc/dhcpcd we have
Code:
interface eth0
I think this should be
Code:
interface tiwlan0
(I found reference to eth0 in /system/etc/wifi/wifi.conf too, but I don't what this file is used for).
I wanted to see if changing eth0 with tiwlan0 in /system/etc/dhcpcd/dhcpcd.conf and removing wifi.interface=eth0 from build.prop would have helped, but I had no time and now I'm on holiday.
If your problem is similar to mine, try to do that change, it won't break anything, I already did that and wifi works (at home of course, where I've never had a problem).
I have also eduroam in my university and i am using eduroam fixer and it is working perfectly. İt is in google play and free you can use it
Sent from my GT-I9003 using Tapatalk
Try this app: Transparent Proxy. Input your wifi proxy and port.
It may work...
I also have eduroam in my university and I've managed to make it work.
You just need to enter eduroam config and set it like this (I have my phone in spanish, so the names could be a little messed up ):
Code:
EAP method: TTLS
Phase 2 authentication: PAP
Identity: [I]"your university mail"[/I]
Password: [I]"your university mail password"[/I]
And leave everything else blank. Hope it works for you guys!!
Okay so here's the dilema my dad changes the wifi password after we argue and I'd love I if I could find a way to get the password without him knowing.
I'm on an AT&T Samsung Galaxy S5 And i am rooted
I usually use his laptop when he's not around and get the password but that's not an option for the time being. Thanks in advance.
The Wifi Type is WPA2 PSK
The router is a Netgear
The modem is a Motorola
P.S. I do t have access to a computer but I do have physical access to the router and modem and I'm new to the forum please let me know if I posted this in the wrong g place.
See into wifi manager that the Router has (Wps Available)
Then there is a Solution for it...
Just Go near the Router and press the Wps Butten and Connect from mobile...
And you done
I tried many times...
Sorry for bad english

I just assume that you have multiple computers at home that are connected to your network. I've come across some programs that I used to recover our network password when I was younger, all you need is a usb drive and those programs. I believe the site was called nirsoft or something .
!!Those programs may be identified as viruses as!!

If your router DOES have WPS, then this is a good quick and clean call and should be sure to remember to click "thanks" on Xpid3r's post.
If it DOES NOT have it, then give us a little more info:
1.)when he changes it, who and what does he update other than his laptop? - sometimes people are easier to bride, sweet talk, or otherwise crack than devices... Would mom, brother, roommate, friend etc. get the updated password? If not, what other devices get updated? anywhere the password is saved is a potential entry point. For example, if YOU were keeping the password from HIM... Then he could get it from your galaxy s5 NOTE:I can't post a link, because I'm new here. But if you google "recover wifi password from android" there is a walktrough from hubpages that I've used
2.)Could you borrow a friend's laptop to hack the password? - If so, there are plenty of tutorials around for that (though admittedly that is not a SHORT learning curve)
3.)How visible is the router? I rented a room once and shared Wifi was supposed to be included in the rent. The landlord was a real tool though and, among other issues, he wouldn't tell me the router password so I could do some port-forwarding etc. It got annoying very fast. But he had his router hidden away for aesthetics. So I connected my own router (from my last place) to one of his router's wired ports and then had my own wireless network through the house with its own SSID. I lived there 4 more months and he never noticed it. If your dad's router is tucked away you could probably do the same. Or if you cannot access his laptop BECAUSE he is out of town, then it wouldn't have to be hidden. You could do that type of setup in plain sight temporarily and just take it down before he comes home and get the password from his laptop then. (Tip: if you do this disable DHCP server or YOUR router so they don't fight over who gets to assign IP addresses)
Good luck to you. Let us know how it turns out

Please help! My R7 plus F cannot access the internet again thru WiFi connection. This is not the first time ( I guess 3rd or 4th), but it now lasted for 4 straight days (and counting). I am very sure that our connection has no problem because I'm using it in my laptop, and I also already refreshed my router, my Oppo unit and even made a factory reset (which was advised by their customer service agent) but nothing worked. :crying::crying::crying:
I have not installed apps that would control my internet like HotSpot Shield or Antivirus. Hope someone could figure this out.
I don't want to bring it to the Service Center (it would take about a minimum of two weeks) aside from I don't have an extra phone. Thank you so much to all who would take time to help. God bless!

What exactly do you mean it cannot access Internet, are you saying that it cannot locate/scan WiFi connections or are you saying that you are unable to connect to available WiFi networks.
If it is the former, I was able to fix my problem by installing the latest OTA update/Color OS ROM. The latter I have yet to encounted
Oh..sorry for not giving clear details. My unit can do both, scan and connect to WiFi. But once it is connected to our network at home, the apps and browsers cannot access/use that connection. The browsers and playstore shows error, the Facebook app says "cannot connect right now" and the rest of the apps do tge same.
Though I haven't tried it again with other networks this time.
