s6 Camera App settings crash - Galaxy S6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

When ever i try to change settings in the default s6 camera app it always "crashes" and goes back to taking a picture.
Is there any way i can find any apps that may be effecting the camera app or is this a common problem with an easy fix?
My phone is rooted but this problem happened before rooting.
I am running lollipop 5.1.1 and my model is SM-G920F
**Upon lots of looking online someone said to disable "Do not keep activities" which took me ages to do because it was not disabling but after clearing the app "settings" it worked so problem fixed.
**** can someone remove this thread or mark as solved?********

S7 Accessibility Services keep switching off

After much searching and trying of a few solutions I still seem to be in the place I was when I started.
The issue I have like a few others is that my Samsung Galaxy S7 keeps switching off my accessibility services for certain apps. I currently have (lastpass, 360 Battery Plus, 360 Security, Tasker, Avast Battery Saver, Nova Launcher) and all of these keep randomly switching off. Not all at the same time and not all together. I can check these and only 1 may be off and then next time 3 or 4 will be off.
I am running Android 6.0.1 non-rooted on stock FW.
Can anyone give some pointers or advise that can help me over come this problem
Will Rooting the device give me any greater control over this problem and a suitable fix?
Is there another ROM that I can look at that does not have this problem (happy to move to it if it will solve my problem)
Thanks in advance for any pointers or advise.
p.s. If there is any other info I can give in this initial post please let me know so I can add this if it leads me to a solution.
I have already tried the Samsung's App Optimisation feature. Since disabling optimisation for those apps (AutoInput, LastPass), the accessibility service appears to keep running for a bit them it goes back to the start and switches off again.
For me this is always happening after activating and deactivating this special energy saving mode (don't know the correct english name for it, sorry).
I wasn't able to figure out why it's happening.
About the same.
Hi,
My problem is that if I switch it on about 5 minutes later all of the apps are turned off again. It won't stay on. My device is not rooted and the apps I'm talking about are: idea note, enpass, torchie and reachability cursor.
Thanks
Hidde

What setting button?
And which rom?
I had never heard this issue before some users are reporting such issue that my settings app is gone because android showing its a harmful app just like miexplorer actually its not harmful but android security system showing its harmful and asking about to unistall it. Like the same i think android setting is an inbuilt application so its asking about to disable it and if someone done that then its getting invisible.

I have the same problem.
Would someone tell me solution?

I have backed up all my files and went to 33R.
Seems Google settings is seeing 'Settings'' as harmful??
So I used Kingo Root to root and Myandroidtools to look at the shut down apps to restore it. A must have to root to fix this.
And also these functions will prevent future notifications.
sorted so can be locked.

lock screen and security

I'm having an issue getting into my lock screen and security settings. Every time I try to open it, it crashes. I can get into every other setting besides lock screen and security. Also can't use the search feature without it crashing. Galaxy S8+here. Anyone know a work around without having to factory reset my device?

strange,
please give more details
I'm having the exact same problem on my s8+. Cannot use search function in settings menu or settings just crashes. Only discovered today actually, that I can't access lock screen and security now. Clicking on lock screen and security causes settings to crash. Have you been able to fix this? I really don't want to have to do a reset.
try safe mode so you can find out if it is caused by an app
If you forgot the login password , you can not access your phone
I'm having the exact same problem. Only noticed after installing bixby and it recommending setting up smart lock from the lock screen and then not being able to get in to the settings. Was working fine when I used it just a couple days ago, not sure if bixby has anything to do with it but have tried wiping cache and safe mode with no luck?
Edit: so just after getting a new firmware update the problem seems to be fixed. Not sure if this was an actual issue with the old firmware or any update would have fixed it.

So this has actually happened to me 2x. It's effecting my phone currently. The first time it just kinda fixed itself after an update thru T-Mobile. Sucks. Can't use Google Maps or Inbox at all either. So frustrating.
My settings crashes when I go to set "Emergency Alerts" and the Advanced settings in Mobile Hotspot. Wiping cache doesn't help. Anyone else have this happen?

I am having facebook messenger problems

Hi everyone.
My wife has an S8 and recently she has noticed that she hasn't been receiving notification on Facebook messenger.
Me thinking it was an easy problem to solve went into the phone setting clicked on notifications and found that the notifications for the app were all on how they should be.
Then I went into the app settings and checked there and everything was right.
Then I restarted the phone and it still wouldn't work.
Then I uninstalled and reinstalled the app and still no success
I even got my phone out an S7E and checked how the settings should look on mine and hers matched my settings.
All her other apps are working except this one.
Am I missing something here, because it doesn't make any sense why it's not working. I performed a stock flash on the device about a month ago to 3 software, so she could have wifi calling but I don't see how this could of affected this one app and none of the others.
If anyone has any suggestions here I am all ears because I am out of ideas.
Make sure that it's not being forced close by the S8's onboard memory manager... sometimes it shuts down apps and you won't get notifications. Double check in the battery settings (you can get there from settings or the swipe panel) to see if the Messenger app itself is active.

Hi people, I seem to have solved the problem.
I followed the suggestion and went to the battery setting. In those setting there was an option for unmonitored and monitored apps. When checking the list of apps that were in these setting everything was right, including the messenger app in unmonitered app section. I removed it from that list and didn't bother adding it back.
Tested.........and it worked....I even got other people to message her in different situtations and it worked and still works.....not added it back in to the list yet, as long as it keeps working I prob won't

Question HELP! Front camer showing "Camera Failed" warning in all apps

Hi. I've had the S22 Ultra for 3 days and this morning I noticed that when I tried to unlock with Face Recognition it says "Couldn't open camera. Try again."
I then tried opening the camera app, all rear sensors work. But when I switch to the front camera, the app crashes with a warning "Camera failed". I also can't open the front cam in third party apps like messenger and Instagram.
What I did so far:
1. Deleted cache and data for camera app. Still same error when switching to front cam.
2. Removed permissions for All apps except the default camera app. Same error.
3. Uninstalled all apps I have installed since it was last working, still no dice.
4. Booted in safe mode, front cam works fine.
Since it's working in safe mode, I guess this isn't any serious hardware issue, I hope.
I have the Snapdragon version with 512gb storage model SM-S908E/DS.
Anybody have an idea what may be causing this and how to fix it?
Thanks in advance!
It's a 3rd party app. Look at which ones have or request cam permissions to start.
A package disabler is helpful as you can disable apps one by one until you find it.

Got it to work eventually by doing force restart (holding down power button + volume up key). Turned it back on and front cam started working again.
I also then re-allowed the app permissions when I was diagnosing it and front cam still works fine.
Yeah might have been a third party app though it's weird that it didn't work even when I removed all camera permissions for all the apps.
Glad it's working again though, and thankfully I did not need to do factory reset and it's not a hardware issue so I avoid the trouble of returning the unit.
Thanks!
Unless you find the root cause it likely will return.
This is why one should use factory reset as a last ditch measure. It can be tedious but rewarding.
Many times issues are inadvertently caused by the user, many times by installing buggy 3rd party apps. I tend not to experiment with new apps unless I need them because of the trouble they can cause... like 2 back to back factory resets because of boot looping. Android's should run fast and stable if not the cause(s) should be tracked down.
Malware, boot loops*, major firmware upgrades, apps changing hidden user settings and corruption of the user data partition are the only exceptions.
*if app caused you'll still need to track it down
The only recent apps that I remember installing was an app called Nice Lock (an alternative to good lock since we don't have it in my region) and the Keys Cafe module, as well as the "Write on PDF" app from Samsung. I uninstalled these when I was having the front camera problem but removing them did not solve it even after a few regular restarts and cache/data clearing. It only started working when I did the force restart. I reinstalled "Write on PDF" back and so far, so good.
Hard reboot is the solution sometimes.
If you need to continuously use it though it can indicate a hardware issue.
Run it through it's paces while still within the window of return.
Yeah I might need to keep an eye on the issue.
Thanks!
hard reset and start installing apps 1-by-1 and test camera
