Cyanogen OS TEAM,cm12.1s have many questions hope you under repair! - ONE Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

i am using oneplus one
I really don't like the new battery model(CM 12.1 YOG4PAS2QL)
Balance mode, playing games like qualcomm 615,even Not as good as qualcomm 800 (If I don't need performance, why do I want to buy qualcomm 801?)
Performance model, always 2.46G,This is a mobile phone, PSP standby is not up to 333,Let the battery die very fast
Using the new CM12.1 S, often need to switch between the two modes,What's the point? I prefer CM11S Settings,CPU Governor,I like ondemand mode, like oxygen, very fast and simple
I tried to Google + below message, but no reply (the game can't display Chinese fonts, not repair)
I will continue to try to GOOGLE + and FACeBOOK message,Hope to get a reply

GooApple V5 issues list

Hello everyone!
First of all sorry for my bad English. I represent smartphones distributor from Kiev, Ukraine. We have contacted with GooApple sales director and have got GooApple V5 sample phone for tests before bulk orders.
All I can say: it's just not ready for international market at the moment and unfortunately they are not very much interested in positive firmware or hardware changes.
They have made firmware ios_11.12.08 for our last recall but non of our issues have been resolved + one added: it doesn't react on first home button push after lock screen, it only shows unlock screen after the second home button push or fast twice push.
Here is our issues list:
Phone's battery draining, runs out too fast!!! After full charge it runs out 75% battery life for 4 hours of usage: 1 call during 5 min., video watch during 8 min., music during 6 min, looking thought photos during 5 min., taking 3 pictures with the camera. 1,5 hour is just for walkthrough over the interface, settings, lock/unlock. 3,5 min. video takes about 5-6% of battery life. And it's without any gaming, internet surfing, making videos. Other time it's just holding.
Screen has some lightness flickering. Backlight blinking, flashing a little bit from the sides and left top corner.
Connect button (in putting Wi-Fi password mode) doesn't work. Just can't connect to any locked Wi-Fi network.
Bad Wi-Fi catch signal even with a close to phone router.
Doesn't remember icons location on springboard bar after moving around and reboot the phone.
Showing the last called phone number in background when sending USSD commands (checking balance or any anything else).
The input keyboard should be the same as iOS with working English and Russian (now it doesn't work) and customization ability in the General folder in Settings.
Booting animation should be the same as iOS with Apple logo only.
Creating folders (put in and put out icons) and moving icons around doesn't work properly.
The font in Calendar, Time, Dial is not the same as iOS.
The sim card pin code enter should be the same as iOS.
How to delete apps like Call Log, PowerOff... chinese QQ and others?
Reminders, Maps, Weather Stocks iReader apps should be in English.
Browser app should be renamed to Safari.
Gallery app should be renamed to Photos.
Phone key at dialpad should be renamed to Keypad.
Must speed up fake iOS usage response, performance.
Must speed up screen rotation/orientation response.
Must replace red ! (exclamation) to the Sending progress bar when sending messages/SMS.
Must replace chinese word to english word Call at the dial pad.
Make possibility of adding your own ringtones in the Settings.
Make double tap or pres hold the home button for multitask, running apps view like on iOS with appear at the bottom of the screen.
Make possibility of completely close/kill apps taking up memory and running in the background.
Make dialing numbers sound quieter (it's set to max by default).
Make lock/unlock sound quieter (it's set to max by default but should be possible to customize).
Make full-screen camera mode when taking photos.
Correct + - add sound mode when playing video, music (quiet sound from 2 to 6 bars and after 6 bars it's big increase in sound).
Remake Videos app (it should redirect/open phone's gallery instead of SDcard content).
Remake YouTube app (it should be in English or redirect/open youtube.com).
WLAN folder in Settings should be renamed to Wi-Fi.
Phone warms up when gaming, talking, videos.
It doesn't recognize sim card enter when ON.
Word Wednesday comes out of the Calendar app icon.
Power On/Off button dangles, swing around with sound.
Upper background part can be seen when charging.
While start pinching any picture from the center it zooms in with imprecision to the side of the picture.
Battery life doesn't shows properly on lock screen (it shows all empty when screen corner shows less of 20% battery life).
It Reboots by itself few times during the day when locking the screen.
If you know any other issues please add them by numbers 39, 40....
Or if you have solutions for any of the issues please also add it by the 1-38 numbers.
I hope we can make it better together!
Possible Solutions to Gooapple V5 issues.
Generally speaking, I don't think that all these reasons are real for every V5 phone around. Did you wipe out every data BEFORE flashing the new rom? If not, certain applications may have been running multiple times (i.e.: Maps in my case when I did that). I am using the android rom (not the iOS one) and I have not all these problems whatsoever.
Possible solutions:
1. Try and see if you have data enabled or GPS is on. This device has a hardcoded (R) Roaming on (i.e. you can't turn it off) plus it's not (yet) capable of 3G data. Turn both of them off while not needing them helps A LOT.
2. Not an issue here with newest android build; maybe your screen has issues. I've had some friends with original iPhones having the same flickering as yours. Turned out to be their retina display.
3. Not true. I'm connecting on both my wifi spots at home both Wep and WAP/PSK. Wifi is low powered though and need you to be NEAR the wifi router / spot (see below).
4. True! Just 5 meters away and a mid-wall makes the difference. They really need to boost their receiver.
5.Try reinstalling AFTER you've made a complete wipe data/factory reset. THEN install the rom. This might fix the issue.
6.I'd really like to see a list of USSD commands if you have one available for this phone... (pm me??? )
7.Same for Greek keyboard. I've overcame the problem by installing Greek Input Method from the market.
8.Heh. +1
9.It works for me for both android and iOS roms.
10,11.I agree.
12.You'll have to be 'root' to do so. The only way I've found to do so is the program superoneclick (google it). After rooting the V5, download from market 'Root Uninstaller'. Works perfectly even with the 'protected apps' like the one you mentioned. I know that you don't have 'market' on iOS rom so here's what I did:
I've had a factory reset first, then installed Android rom and THEN the iOS rom. I've also installed a program called 'Go Launcer EX'. This pops up when unlocking the device asking you what launcher you prefer, this way you have the best of both worlds.
13-16: Agree.
17 & 18: The problem is the retina display with the slow (relatively) 650MHz MTK6573 processor. The G3 (previous model) had a smaller screen that the cpu was able to handle. On android rom things are better though...
19 & 20: Agree.
21: On android you can do so by adding your custom ringtones on a folder called /alarms, /ringtones etc on your sd card. Should work for us too (didn't try it yet).
22. Agree.
23. I am using an app from market called: Advanced Task Manager does the trick.
24-31. Agree.
32. I didn't go that far!!! I guess you're right.
33 & 34. Yep.
35 & 36. I haven't got such a problem. Consider the retina screen of yours has a problem / issue?
37&38. Nope. Works alright here.
Finally another issue with no solution:
39. GPS lock. The GPS won't operate properly in EU (Greece) where I live. Takes forever to find satellites and it won't lock to a fix point even if you wait 10 mins. This is what I'm after right now and if I have a proper solution I'll post it here.
Thanks for putting up this thread Cyber_dude. If you need anything I'll be more than glad to help!
Thanks for your reply.
We have talked with GooApple for about a week now and sure I have made all needed such as wipe data before firmware update. That's because you are basically using Android ROM. Customers buying phones like this one because they just want iPhone for less and want everybody else think they got an iPhone. So using Android on any iPhone replica is just not right. It should run fake iOS and should be at least 60% of the original one. This phone costs $300 icnl. shipping at resellers (price of used iPhone 4 on eBay) and I think user interface should be well polished and flawless for that money.
Yes, Maps on last gooapple_ios_11.12.08 works in English now. But after resolving one problem they made two others, like it doesn't react on first home button push after lock screen, it only shows unlock screen after the second home button push or fast twice push.
1. That's not a solution! Sure I have turned everything like wi-fi, gps... off. But customers want it to be fully functional phone, without thinking: "ohh., have I turned my phone's wi-fi and gps off to kepp the battery alive?" It's shouldn't be like that!
They have you used so low capacity 1050mAh battery. (but we think it's even less). The original iPhone's has 1420mAh. And there are even 2200-2430mAh on the market today. They have changed screen, ram, cpu but keep the same battery. It's just stupid. And it's smaller then iPhone's battery so you just can't replace it. It works maximum up to 3 hours in active usage mode without gaming. (with full brightness on, because turning it less on this screen is just sacrilege).
That's they have answered about that: "when making a phone, we have to consider a lot of things, especially the cost, when everything is as great as iphone 4, the price will be too..."
2. Yes, it's old issue, it resolves after reinstall.
3. It's true. It works on you because your wep password is large then 8 characters. It doesn't work with less passwords like mac or iPhone.
5. Yes, new firmware resolved that.
6. I mean USSD commands for checking balance.
But here is a command to enter EngineerMode: *#67876#*
7. Stock keyboard is a crap. I use Smart Keyboard Pro.
8. I can change robot with apple booting animation but can't change gooapple name at the beginning. I think it's logo.img at the rom zip file. I have tried to delete it and make other changes to the rom but can't sign it. It's always shows sign error at the install.
9. It works but it works very-very badly. Then you are trying to move icon to other position it creates a folder with other icon, it's so annoying.
12. I have also made the root with the SuperOneClick. And delete Chinese apps with Root Explorer.
Thanks for Go Launcer EX advise. What else it can help us with?
17 & 18. They used MTK6513 it's cuted MTK6573 without 3G. It's not the best one anyway.
21. Yes, I also want to try to add custom ringtone to media directory folder.
23. Yes, I also use Advanced Task Killer Pro on gooapple_ios_11.11.30 but they have added double tap home button like iPhone to kill running apps on gooapple_ios_11.12.08
35 & 36. These issues are real and haven't resolved on new roms. That's not screen problem, I can make a screenshot if needed.
37. This one is also real. Can also make a screenshot.
38. Haven't seen this issue on gooapple_ios_11.11.30
39. Maybe you should try to test it in EngineerMode Have you tried to use any other GPS third-party application?
I didn't know about this issue because I haven't tried GPS, no need with this battery.
Do you know how to replace chinese word (Call) to english word Call at the dial pad? Because it's immediately catches the eye when using. I have decompiled the Phone.apk with APK Edit program but all image files are normal over where, chinese word is not an image file. I don't know how to change it.
Just lets keep this thread go by adding new issues and how to solutions.
Got my V5 about 2 weeks ago. Been playing with it for a while - tried both the newer roms and currently running the ios version that is made available about 10 days ago. Been working fine for me, except I may gps is very slow (can take up to 10 minutes for it to find me), and the built in FM Transmitter does not work. I also have various chinese apps which I was not able to delete. I will try the latest rom to see what improvemements it has.
Question, how did you root the phone? I downloaded superoneclick, but keep getting hung on the "waiting for device". I have usb debuggin on, and tried it both with "usb connect" on and off (the setting in the phone to establish a usb connection to a PC). Instead of using this "usb connect" feature, do I need to download some type of usb driver for this phone? If so, can you provide details? I've tried various usb drivers for MT6513 but nothing yet works - even tried something called PDANet which installed some type of software oin the phone and said it was connected, but still the superoneclick failed. Any ideas?
Oh, by the way I found a vending.apk that works on the ios rom. See link below
http://www.mediafire.com/?khpvzmzwwaqyxdm
Thanks
I have uploaded the drivers for GooApple V5, here is the link: http://www.mediafire.com/?h6hr1ckrf3sc7cj
How to root your GooApple V5:
Make sure you use Win XP.
Download drivers file from the link above and unzip it.
Phone Settings -> Applications -> Unknown sources, on
Phone Settings -> Applications -> Development -> USB debugging, on
Phone Settings -> Applications -> Development -> to keep awake, on
Phone Settings -> Applications -> Development -> Allow analog location, on
Connect the data cable, turn on USB storage in the phone.
In the Windows Device Manager (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Device_Manager) find your phone, open properties and install or update the drivers from the unzipped folder.
Reboot your computer.
Now download the SuperOneClick from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=803682 If you run XP, install .NET Framework v2.0 or above.
Shut down your antivirus/firewall.
Turn off USB storage in the phone. Make sure you do not mount the sd card.
Run the SuperOneClick BOOT process. If it's not success from the first time try it again.
After that install the Root Explorer to your phone, go system/app, push Mount R/W button and delete any app you want.
Thanks for the vending.apk, here are also some tips for it: http://www.addictivetips.com/mobile/how-to-install-new-android-market-2-2-6-on-your-device/
Cyber_Dude, thanks for the engineering mode code. You've done a nice job on the rooting info. Just for the story: I've done it on W7, 32bit and worked alright too. Newest superoneclick has the ability to forcibly ask for Admin privileges. Drivers have to be installed manually though.
I've found out into the Engineering menu that there's a CPU Frequency test that reports a high of 806MHz. THAT would be awesome to have when needed. Do you have any *working* utility that is able to over clock the MTK6573 CPU of it? I've tried some from the market but with no luck whatsoever.
Some info on the WiFi boosting would be helpful too. I've been digging into the /etc directory and found out several conf files that may, or may not do the job. I'd rather not alter the values on my own though...
Ah, finally another addition:
There seems to be an issue importing/exporting my contacts from the phone to google.com. Plus the Account and Sync options on the settings menu isn't reporting the respective field (i.e.: only Picassa, books and gmail is able to sync. Contacts is not on the list).
Thanks.
Cyber_dude - thanks for the rooting details. Got my V5 rooted today, and it worked from my vista laptop (didn't need a xp PC). I deleted the 9 chinese apps no problem including the chinese market app.
The vending.apk I provided works whether you root or not - however now that I'm rooted I will keep your instructions in mind if I want to upgrade to a different market version.
I'm still on the Dec1/2011 ios rom - anyone know what the newer ios rom (Dec10/2011) has to offer? I have tons of apps and settings personalized, so I'm not really wanting to wipe the phone to load the latest ios rom unless I know it will have some improvements.
Only problems I still have, which I would appreciate feedback on, are:
1) gps is very slow to find my location (can take up to 30 minutes). Funy thing is that as I scroll on the map it refreshes fast, and I can find addresses and streets, but it just can not find my location?
2) ther built in FM Transmitter does not work - would love to get this working since I do not have bluetooth stereo in the car. FYI - found other fmtransmiiter.apk apps on the net - can I just replace my existing same app on systems/bin to make it work?
Thanks
Have you tried it with the 'new' Android UI ROM? How does it perform? I'd really like to see some videos - youtube only has 13 and I've seen them all ..

1) Same thing here. From the data sheet (from Mediatek) of the MTK6573 (which this phone has) the update location should be as fast as 10ms (that's 1/100 of a second) so something is DEFINITELY wrong.
2) I think you'll have to 'sign' it somehow. There are some apps that are supposed to provide 'signed' apps but never got to work with one; so I have no experience.
Cheers
macsga, DanADaMan, you are welcome.
I think cpu overclocking is not in time now and it also can make even worse. But we'll be glad if you can find any good, stable working app for that and test it. The only thing need to be overclocked now is the iOS UI, it should have to be polished well to match the original one.
For WiFi boosting, have you tried Wifi Fixer or Wifi Analyzer, you can change your WiFi channels with it.
GPS chipset is very bad. It's just a copy, fake phone, so they have used the cheapest hardware parts for it, we should reconcile to it. Unless they somehow fix it in new firmware, but I don't think it's gonna happen in near future. The main market for this phone is China, so they don't hasten with any international changes. As GooApple sales director said to me: "we sold more then 500pcs aday, should this problem happend to every phone, i think all the phone should return to us". So maybe chinese people are just not as demanding as we are, and they are happy with the phone? Anyway, I think with a good administrative force all listed issues can be resolved in just one week.
By the way, as I know they are planning to produce new phone in January with the 3G support. No info about any other new hardware at the moment.
Meantime we have to add new issues to the list:
39. GPS is very slow to find my location (can take up to 30 minutes).
40. Built in FM Transmitter does not work.
41. Importing/exporting my contacts from the phone to google.com. Plus the Account and Sync options on the settings menu isn't reporting the respective field (i.e.: only Picassa, books and gmail is able to sync. Contacts is not on the list).
42. In last gooapple_ios_11.12.08 firmware it doesn't react on first home button push after lock screen, it only shows unlock screen after the second home button push or fast twice push.
Updates in the last gooapple_ios_11.12.08 firmware:
Increase in task manager.
Blocking state to increase unread text message reminder.
Debug chinese QQ picture upside down.
Some Google applications added (en maps, gmail, voice..)
Task Manager.
Standby SMS prompts.
Double-click the home button shows running/standby apps and kill possibility like in original iOS.
Plus issue 42 added.
I haven't tried all new features in gooapple_ios_11.12.08 I don't want to use it because of the 42 issue. Now I'm using previous gooapple_ios_11.11.30 version. If anyone already installed and running the gooapple_ios_11.12.08 please give us your feedback.
DanADaMan, maybe you should try to make the data backup in stock recovery mode first and install firmware update after that? Maybe this should keep all your apps in and give you the new firmware? (haven't tried by myself)
jontelang, Sure, Android UI works much better with it, but I personally don't want to use it on this phone, it would be too simple and means you gave up making iOS UI ROM better.
As a side note, I've noticed that the phone is able to provide extraordinary 2D & 3D performance. I don't agree with the comment "It's just a copy, fake phone, so they have used the cheapest hardware parts for it, we should reconcile to it." you posted earlier Cyber_Dude, because I've seen cheap devices and this is nothing like it.
I do believe that the dev team has issues supporting the phone chipset due to the novelty that presents at the current time. This processor came out only at the end of June 2011 (fairly new).
News about MTK MT6573 Processor
Monday, June 13, 2011 3:25:26 AM America/Los_Angeles
Since the release MTK MT6516 processor, there is lots of Android phones in the market, which support GSM network and dual SIM card smartphone. But later, when Qualcomm, Broadcom and other smartphone processor manufacturer access into the field, mtk's dimmed. MTK MT6573 is the only hope in the future.
The end of June, 2011, we will share the latest trends with you, with the following new star.
Time: the first smartphone with MT6573 processor has been assembled, the major integrators, solution providers have had contact with, the reaction generally very good, have begun to prepare the relevant program models. As far as know, next month the first smartphone with MT6573 processor will unveiled.
Performance: As MT6573 is positioned in the low-end smartphone, we should not expect performance of deification, but the actual test performance to facilitate more than Qualcomm MSM7227, while MT6573 with the 3D acceleration in the multimedia DSP will give you a surprise. Currently sent to the integrators, solution providers of 3G features are still several prototype debugging.
Programs: MT6573 and MT6516 share same pins, and the both chips can be exchange without any hardware change, this will save cost on design for smartphone manufacturers.

macsga, But have you test it side by side with the iPhone 4 (not talking about 4S)?
Sure if comparing with other copies it's a winner. It's the best choice if you want to buy an iPhone replica for the price of the used iPhone 4 and you're not too picky. But it's a huge contrast with the original iPhone 4 UI performance, speed and hardware. And at the present time it's not totally ready for the wide international market due to the all listed issues. That's why I have started this thread, all together we can make it better. Unfortunately GooApple's dev team/engineers do nothing for it, local market and the new phone's version is their main goal at the moment. I know that because I've contacted with the GooApple sales director for the last 3 weeks.
As I have posted before they used MTK6513 it's cut MTK6573 without 3G support. It's good but not the best one. Anyway CPU is not the main problem of GooApple V5. The low capacity battery is much bigger failure. The android-sale.com is just a reseller, they can write anything they want to sell the phones more efficiently.
Hehe, I do have a 4s and (you're right) side by side there's nothing like it. That's why I gave up on iOS UI and turned to the android native one. I do believe that it's a perfect android testbed though. And for 230 Eur (retail price) that the 32Gb model cost me; well I can't really complain.
So; I totally agree! Let's try and make it better
The UI might be faster if you lower the resolution (i.e.: draw @ 480x320 and not the retina native resolution this phone has). It's zoom capabilities should cover the gap and reduce choppiness. Of course, this is just a crazy thought of mine...
macsga, Where have you got it for 230 EURO for 32GB? Official resellers like android-sale.com and rofen.net selling 32GB model for $319.99 (245 EURO) without shipping cost.
How could you lower the resolution? And why? If you want lower resolution you just should buy cheaper GooApple 3G version and it has faster UI response: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WqAevweocKs

I got it before the EUR/USD was at 1/1.29 which is what you just calculated . The lower resolution (magnified) would in my opinion give the fast and smooth feeling the 3G has.
As per why I didn't go for the 3G, I did not, because of the retina display the V5 has. The official replacement for a retina display from Apple goes up to 390EUR+pnp, where I got the whole phone for 230 (OK plus 11$ shipping). In the meanwhile I have an android phone to play with (apart from my 4s). Fair deal.
I just wiped the phone and tried to load the ios 12-08-11 rom. Got an error something about not being a signed rom. I reinstalled the ios 12-01-11 ios rom no problem.
Anyone else have problems loading the latest ios rom?
Thanks
is this real?
i have heard that the Gooapple v5 is very good, and it is the same display as the real iphone 4, and can exchange with the iphone 4 display, does this ture?

There are newer ones from 2011.12.10 on http://rom.gooapple.com use those. Hopefully you won't have the same issues. Correction: Unfortunately the new Android one is not signed- The iOS though works OK

Yes, it's real. You can watch exchanging one another, on youtube here:

The flickering at the corners of the screen is annoying on mine, has this developed from the latest ROM or did you guys see it in previous? I've only had it a few days and updated straight away. I've resorted to the android UI cos the IOS one was sluggish but am more than happy to swap back to help?!
What I did find was GTA III kills this phone. On launch the intro plays but as the game launches the screen goes black and the phone will not respond to any button pressing for an hour, then I think it kills the process and the phone comes back. Just don't try, unless someone can tell me otherwise?
Mine responds on one click of the home button right now but Wireless is pants and so is GPS!
---------- Post added at 09:48 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:35 PM ----------
How do I tell if I loaded 2011-12-08 or 2011-12-11?
I downloaded them on the 15th and loaded the Android one without any complaints of it being unsigned? Did it over the top of the version it came with though so not fresh install...
EDIT:
Thought it was worth adding how to get into engineers menu:
Dial “*#67876#*”
Is there a way to turn WiFi Tx from 20 to 40 or even more?
I need to root mine still
I never noticed flickering and I have to say that the latest 'iOS' rom is a bit faster on my device resulting in a rather good imitation while the previous was very choppy.
The only drawback is that the UI crashes every now and then. I do like the 'long press' function of the home button that is able to kill apps in the 'official' iOS mode plus I think for the 1st time since I owned this phone that I like more the iOS UI to the android one.
I do have to offer a couple of tips that I found through my xda search:
1. Using a program like Root Explorer (root) you may want to make the following directories as Read Only: /data/tombstones and /data/system/dropbox
This has as a result, that the phone won't be able to log into the main phone memory thus trimming down your available space.
2. *IF* you're using the iOS UI version of the rom you can safely(?) remove the following apps (I state them as bloatware) via Root Uninstaller (root):
-QQ input method and keyboard
-Chinese market
-Chinese Youtube (Yuku)
-Chinese Maps
-Chinese Weather (3 entries, remove all three)
-Chinese iBooks (Google books does the job)
3. Add the following app: Locale Select from the Market and choose your language of choice.
4. If you search the xda site you will be able to find signed Google Apps that (most of them) work with this phone.
Ah, one last thing: I found the best player for playing p0r... erm, Movies, MoboPlayer with the additional ArmV7VFP3 plugin. Supports almost every codec and srt file out there and respective char encodings. Please ignore the message: This program is not compatible with your device. Works like a charm, I swear.

I've made one of these tutorials for the HTC 10 and Oneplus 5 and both went down well, have struggled to match the power of the 835 and it's Adreno GPU on the P20 Pro, the Kirin is fast but the Mali has been this phones achilles heel , it isn't awful but it simply does not have the most optimized drivers and no one will ever get the most out of it.
Until now...
A chap over on the Dolphin-emu forums called Zhang Wei has went and done some amazing wizardry specifically for Kirin based devices.
Moving onto the emulator itself, it's brilliant compared to the original, the results which I've seen for myself are nothing short of spectacular, not every game is perfect (but then no emulator is perfect)
All the games I tried ran at a solid 60fps without anomalies and without any crashes, below i'll post specifically how to replicate this on your devices and any files you'll need, it's not hard but one thing i have found that i needed was GPU Boost, anyone who has EMUI 8.1 past 130 will already have this, if you like me are running a non EMUI ROM then you can install the Magisk module for the same effect.
Although I believe that this version of Dolphin is made for Honor / Huawei devices, some Samsung devices run Mali so should see the same benefits, albeit without GPU turbo.
Hope you enjoy, any questions, plz let me know
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Pre-requisites
Root Access - if you wish to use advanced kernel features or if you haven't already got GPU Boost / turbo as part of your ROM / stock ROM.
Android with a Mali based GPU, this specific version is for Mali / Kirin
A legitimate ROM file of the game you want to play
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Files
1. The emulator - https://github.com/weihuoya/dolphin/releases (This is the main GitHub page for Wei Zhang's builds)
2. A GameCube ISO / ROM file - unfortunately I cannot provide links for these as it would infringe on XDA rules and by not owning the original you cannot have a copy, I will leave this to your googling abilities, please DO NOT link to any ROM sites here they will be removed.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Installation
NOTE**** For the purposes of this tutorial i will assume that you have never installed Dolphin on your phone, should you need a clean install you'll need to remove everything first
1. Grab the emulator and copy it to your phone, if it's already there then open it with a file manager, click install
2. Open Magisk, click downloads, search or find GPU Boost, click install and reboot.
3. (optional but recommended) Open Magisk, click downloads, search or find Swap Torpedo, click install and reboot.
4. Open settings and stop the android system from optimizing the Dolphin app, this will help with performance.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Setup
Below are the settings for each section, I've found can max out most games
Zelda - The Windwaker, MarioKart, Smash Bros, Mario Strikers, Tiger Woods 06, Burn out 2, Ikaruga.
Resident Evil 4 is a different animal altogether but the settings here should be enough to make it totally playable.
My personal favourite is the WindWaker which is just a superb game, this has been causing me some problems using Vulkan, so Open GL is preferred, I'm trying to find the perfect settings for it still, will update here once i have.
1. Open the app up and click the settings bar up the top (3 dots) you'll be given a list of options, below is each section and their respective choices, there is a floppy disc icon at the top of each section, everytime you make a change click the disc to save.
2. General:
CPU Core - JIT ARM64
Dual core - on
Override emulated CPU Clock Speed - off
Emulated clock speed - unchanged
Speed limit - 100%
Sync on skip idle - on
JIT Follow branch - on
Enable cheats - off (only noobs cheat )
Change discs - on
Audio stretching - on
Audio back end - Cubeb
3. Graphics settings:
Video Backend - Vulkan
Show FPS - on (unless you're happy with performance and don't want to test or tweak for more performance)
Shader compilation mode - Synchronous
Compile shaders before starting - off
Back end multithreading - on
Aspect ratio - Force 16:9 (for me this is the best ratio for the p20 pro, it's up to you here)
Display scale - 100%
4. Enhancements:
Internal resolution - depending on the game I toggle between 1x and 2x
Full screen anti aliasing - off
Anisotropic Filtering - off
Post processing effect - off
Scaled EFB Copy - on
Per-Pixel lighting - on
Force Texture filtering - on
Force 24 bit colour - on
Disable fog - off
Disable copy filter - on
Arbitrary mipmap detection - on
Widescreen hack - personal choice ( prefer this to be on, more screen to see although a little zoomed out)
5. Hacks:
Skip EFB Access from CPU - on
Ignore format changes - on
Store EFB copies to Texture only - on
Defer EFB Copies to RAM - on
Texture cache accuracy - Low
GPU Texture decoding - off
Store XFB copies to texture only - on
Immediately present XFB - on
Fast calculation depth - on
Framebuffer format - RGBA8
6. Interface:
Use Panic handlers - off (personal choice, i don't need it, shows errors when they happen)
Show on screen display messages - off (again personal choice)
Use Built-in Database of game names - on
7. Gamecube / Wii and Debug:
Leave all of them at stock, none need to be altered.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
And Finally
Thats pretty much it chaps, get yourself a ROM which you own (we have to say that) and load it up, I personally have a folder called ROM's which i've pointed to within the app.
All games can be played with touchscreen but I would definitely recommend a bluetooth pad, the one i use is the iPega extendible, which has proven to be brilliant, the below link is not the cheapest I've found it for, mine cost £16 so shop around.
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Wireless-C...d=1550867350&sr=8-6&keywords=ipega+extendable
The touchscreen controls can be turned off "Whilst" you are within a game, just swipe down and then click options, you can toggle the controls from there, move them around, make them different sizes etc.
You do have the option to make some changes from this same menu but I would advise against this as it can get confusing.
One thing i would say to do if you have a few people around is to get a USB-C - HDMI converter and get a few pads, you can use up to 4 on this emulator.
This is my hub
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Anker-Prem...=1550868584&sr=8-13&keywords=anker+hdmi+usb+c
A bit pricey but a great unit.
The install path on android is /sdcard/dolphi-mmj/
The GC folder holds your save games so make a back up if you need to complete a full uninstall if you are testing or changing versions.
Screenshots in 2nd post, taken from my phone, note at the top left, a solid 60fps, it does drop to mid 50's now and again, but then again so did the Gamecube, I would say that there is headroom for up-scaling for textures and or resolution.
Enjoy, hopefully this tutorial helped you and you're enjoying games on your P20 Pro the way games should be played, if you liked this tut then please hit thanks..
Cheers, any questions let me know and I'll do what I can to help.
:good:
Screenshots
Will upload more and maybe do a video once i've got the windwaker working as it should.
:good:
Thx for the guide, was able to push stable 30 fps in wind waker with 2x resolution on my mate 20 pro. Before, was need to use performance mode which heat and drain the battery. Any tips for good version?

You shouldn't have to. But you may have to disable "optimise this app"
Performance mode should not be needed.
ok thx for additional tips, you can find this menu at battery optimization on EMUI 9.1
btw can you run the sky crawler at fullspeed?

Not sure pal, haven't had it installed for some time now...been flashing and testing ROMs so not ideal..
Majority of games work relatively well, compared to Snapdragon devices it's not as good but the version here is decent for mali chips.

i see, well legend of zelda wind waker run half speed in first stage where env is large, beach spiker ,beyond good and evil also run stuttering with half speed. Little dissapointed cause both game run full speed at 1x res with snapdragon 710. Altough i can push with performance mode and get full speed, the heat is awful and killing battery, fyi i was using mate 20 pro with kirin 980

Depends which version you're using mate. The 710 won't have the grunt I don't think.
If you use the version I posted here on Huawei devices then it'll benefit from it..
Snap dragon needs a different version or it'll have a negative effect.
Great guide for setting up this "demanding" emulator for phones. Jk. I have one question. I have a different phone which is a Samsung S7 variant (Exynos 8890) and was trying to run Dolphin on it. Any tips that you would like to share on this? Thanks again for the guide.

Exynos does not play well with this emulator at all.
The one I've put on here is probably your best bet, seeing as I've never used an s7 I couldn't advise on settings but they won't be too dissimilar to this.
Also there's a button for thanks.
Good luck.
Updated OP:
Link to all Zei's builds.
Tweaked guide a little.
:good: enjoy.
Probado en un mate 10 y todo excelente
En Smash broos ahí si tengo lag
just want to inform with emui 10 + dolpohin mmj last build before it get taken down i can simply run majority of gc and wii title at 2x res full speed using same setting as first post. Altough some heavy games run half speed (open large env games) like beyond good and evil

Thts wonderful..
So what device are you using?
Are you using a beta emui 10?
2x Res is a hell of a push.
Especially for Wii games.
Could you share you in file and dolphin version or are you referring specifically to what I've put in the OP?
Appreciate your feedback.

The last built by MMJ, he's now stop dev the built exclusive for mali device, i will try to upload it
Mate 20 pro with EMUI 10 . EMUI 10 Break vulkan drivers but enhanced the opengl performance on par with vulkan so is still a win win situation. Also the skip sync on idle is making game stuttering in some title, ex symphonia.
Btw i also found performance mode in EMUI 10 is a lot lot better, you can use it without fear of overheat. My mate 20 pro with performance with 5 minutes of playing still render on normal temp, it seems they tweak the scheduler , while in 9.1 they just simply push the clock speed to the max which make the phone hot in just 5 minutes
in symphonia i can get slow down sometimes in 720p but with performance on no slowdown and game always run full speed, also i can ruh MH3 in 2x res full speed without any stuttering or slowdown even without performance mode in EMUI 10

my build is 5.0-11428 MMJ
btw i tested zelda with 2x it constantly run on full speed using the performance mode, before it will become hot after 5 minutes and throttling a lot
Btw the same can't be said for beack spikers, this game run 45 fps on normal but with performance mode it will run 60 fps , unfortunately this exhibit same behaviour with zelda on emui 9,1 it become hot after 5 minutes and minutes 6/7 it throttling making the performance mode useless. I think this is because its a action game so it constantly push max clock where zelda and symphonia only push mere second to prevent slowdown or lag

Looking for a CustomROM for my OP6

Hello,
first, I have to admit, I have not much idea of custom roma and kernels.
I bought a new oneplus 6 a6003 8GB 128GB and Im thinking of installing a CustomROM, but Im not quite sure that its the right thing to do to match my user expectations. Ive read on reddit that many people are happy with the OEM Oxygen and that the dont see no need to install a CustomROM. Or does it makes sense to only change the kernel?
What I want to achieve by installing a CustomROM:
- stabme and reliable operation
- no pre-installed Bloatware
- no pre-installed indespensable google-apps and services
- nor other pre-installed undeletable Apps/Services
- eventually longer battery running time, but not if it would damage the battery over time and shorten its lifespan
- possibility to adjust fine settings like change the vibrationpattern for incoming calls/sms/notifications individually
- smooth parallel running of multiple apps
- automatic OTA updates
What I do NOT want to achieve by installing a CustomROM:
- putting my device at the risk of a write-off (or is ir always given when flashing other OS)?
- deterioration of stock performanceralating to the battery life time/ life span, reaction rate etc
- missing support of some (banking?) apps, cause they dont classify the new os as trustworthy
Thank you very much for your help
PS: While searching the web I found a lot threads on diferent forums where people compare they smartphones to the Google Pixel 3 (as the better device?) and install the google pixel 3 OS on their smartphones. whats so special about this phone/OS?
In my opinion all the custom ROM's have just as good battery life or slightly better then the stock Oxygen OS. Good thing about OnePlus phones is if you "brick" the device you can easily restore it with the MSM Download tool, so no need to worry about writing it off. If you want to remove all bloatware and control what google apps are installed maybe you would like OmniRom with a custom kernel (I feel like most of the kernels on here are all great, can't go wrong with any of the popular ones). If you want your phone to feel like the Pixel 3 (comes with a lot of google apps but using the OS feels pretty nice) I'd recommend the OmniTreskmod ROM.
If all you want to do is remove the bloatware xXxNoLimits ROM might be a good option. If you edit the script there are plenty of debloat options.
Hard to go wrong with this phone, it's pretty amazing. Good luck!
I recommend you:
treskmod
or stock + magisk + custom kernel
Do open beta 12 with smurfkernel
Settings for if you prefer battery life or performance.
I got an antutu score of 309,000 with smurfutil_flex

If you want an incredibly customizable experience, you have to try havoc os. It doesn't come with gapps preinstalled and is compatible with microg and battery life is pretty good too. This rom is very stable as well and it is more customizable than any other oneplus 6 custom rom.
Liquid Remix seems to be more stable (than HavocOS) for me.
It has a great Battery life (without any GApps installed) and about the same amount of features as Havoc does.
GApps always impact the battery life quite negative, but I don't know how much the difference exactly is in comparison, because I never installed any GApps package
Anyway, I can recommend that you look inro this thread:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-6/how-to/custom-rom-t3867290/
(The mentioned bugs for Liquid Remix are fixed in the recent releases)
For a clean, fast, reliable and polished ROM, you could try Pixel Experience. I've been using it on 3 phones, it's really amazing.
Or wait for Paranoid Android to get a bit more advanced. It's le Rolls Royce of Android ROMS.
About kernels, Smurf is my favourite. Awesome performance, AND awesome battery life. The phone last two days with a single charge and around 5h of screen-on time.
If you flash a custom ROM, wiping your phone data is mandatory though.
Edit : I'm a bit off topic, as you asked for something without preinstalled Google Apps and lots of customization, which is the opposite of Pixel Experience. I'm personally waiting for Paranoid Android, loved it since Nexus 4. This guys created head-up notifications, Oreo-style recents and floating window multitasking on Jelly Bean, for f*** sake, they are unbelievable.

Laggy P20, is there any fix?

I've been using Huawei P20 (non-lite, non-pro, EML-L29) for about a year now. With Oreo 8.1 I was very happy with the overall smartphone experience. When I updated on 9.0, however, it began to have laggy animations - mainly in Instagram, Youtube, Huawei Weather app and also Opera browser (it is my main browser). Recently, i discovered that while browsing, if i decide to long press on a word in order to open the mini menu for copy/share/select all, everything becomes so choppy, low-fps-y and laggy, even with performance mode on. Like OMG is this a replica chinise phone for 100$? Like what is going on, actually??? I was very optimistic about update 9.1 to deal with these problems. However things didnt change or got worse (even worse animations in Youtube APP).
It is important to mention that these problems disappear when i turn on performance mode. But I don't think such tasks should make phone of this caliber struggle with (after all it has the p20pro hardware).
I am not a power user - i dont have any games, disabled 90% of Google preinstalled bloatware, i have no more than 15 3rd party apps ONLY from Play store. I've tried numerous things - the smartphone is constantly on lower resolution, the RAM memory usage is no more than 50%, tested the device with AnTuTu (perform. mode - on) and scored 207k points, which is awesome. I reguraly use optimiser (which also cleans the cache), virus protection is always on, Bluetooth, Auto-rotate, Location, Syncrhonisation and any kind of application automatic update are set to be done manually. I've tested games like Angry Birds and Subway Surfers and there i dont have any lag - but with some elementary applications and their animations - they have lag or drop of FPS.
To sum up in one sentence - to maximize my battery life i disabled many things i do not need and do not use.
Recently I tried a total hard reset of the device and the first thing i tried after the reset, was to check if i had lag and yes there were again laggy apps. I've also used the lag & crash test within the HiCare app and it said everything is normal. Also i've tried under Developer options to activate "Force GPU to draw.." and it didnt help at all.
The only thing that helps is - performance mode - ON. Thats it. Nothing else.
The funniest thing is that a friend of mine has some budget Huawei phone and it is smoother than mine. Also, recently i went to the store from which i bought the phone (of course it is a genuine one) and tried the exhibited Huawei phones and i couldnt believe my eyes - they were all laggy - I tried P20 Pro, P20, P30 Lite - they had the exact same laggy animation in the Huawei Weather app. Jesus Christ...
If anyone can help with my problem, please share the solution. My last attempt will be with the warranty. And if it turns out this lag to be a normal thing for such phone im gonna switch to another brand next year. Cuz thats a shame. Because at this price point and all the implemented technologies, benchmarks and advertisements.... and to be this laggy - its making fun of all Huawei customers... (I hope its not like this on Samsung phones, cuz it would be my next brand).

Yes im sure, i have friends with s10+ and s8 too but both lag a lot(maybe im too perfectionist dont know) instead of Samsung i would choose Google pixel or Oneplus with Stock Android
needn't bloatware. just go to setting => app & unistall china apps dont use.
.
For fix lag like u say. u must enable performance mode in battery setting - dont worry about battery drain. the default rom emui 9.1 like battery mode. So for balace u must enable performance mode. (If u dont trust. u can use Ex kernel manager. Open it, swipe status bar & look cpu clockspeed. compare default with performance, u will see not difference too much.) .
.
For another my experience. After update to newwer version android like 8.0 to 9.0 u must do factory reset. I already try some phone (g7, mi8, poco,u11,...) kirin with is the 3rd phone with smooth & load app. (i dont use pixel & oneplus) so that why i give kirin is 3rd.

Sell it and buy Xiaomi...

NO MORE SLOW.

For the few who remain using these tablets (and the even fewer who bought a 2015 shield controller like me) I have the final nail in the coffin for performance. Without custom OS. Allowing you to use your very specific (criminally underused) 2015 Shield controller wirelessly. Welcome to the end of your woes (performance not guaranteed, this crap worked for me though). I still haven't checked if battery usage has improved, but it has certainly let me depend on this and use my controller again as opposed to using a CustomOS (previously used AEX 6.7, good performance, but bad video playback and lack of wifi controller support).
Required thingys:
TWRP
This awesome script (JournalingDisabler.zip) (thnx very much skynet28): https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...urnaling-in-internal-ext4-partitions.1252028/
Developer Options
Snacks? Drinks? This is gonna take some time, don't pass out halfway through lol
Boost 1: DISABLE JOURNALING.
Y'all. This is the good stuff. the nitro. This will make your tablet feel new (again, if everything goes right and I'm not some insane fluke). I only got the idea from an offhand comment from m0nt3s. I thought they were talking about one of the writing apps at first, but once I learned what it was, my brain imploded. Did a quick google search, and found skynet28's solution right away. It's a script designed to disable an ext4 logging service that eats up memory and processing power. I didn't think it would be compatible (but my chaotic neutral mind said why not), but it works:
1. Install TWRP using adb and prayer (that's what it feels like the first time around lol)
2. Download the zip (JournalingDisabler.zip) to your tablet.
3. Use the install button in TWRP, navigate to the zip, and install away.
It should show text saying journaling is disabled if all went well. The gains should be immediately noticeable on your next boot. I didn't notice any issues or side effects, but I also have the benefit of not having important/sensitive data on it, so just to play it safe, back up your data in case issues crop up later.
Boost 2: BACKGROUND PROCESSES
This one will be a touch more noticeable, especially if you multitask on this tablet, but it can definitely stop a lot of the hitching. This one will be in the bottom of the developer options. If you don't have dev options, go into the about tablet section and tap the build number until you become a dev. Setting it to 1 or 2 is decent, but setting it to none will have the biggest impact.
Boost 3: DON'T USE APP OPTIMIZATION
Seriously. Don't know who dropped the ball. But just turn it all off. It's not even a boost, it's just a negative having it on.
Boost 4: SYNCING
If anything is syncing, be it Gmail, your YouTube notifications, or a news feed, turn it off. Any time apps struggle and fight for WIFI, your experience sucks. If you aren't using it as a main (i'm using it in my car as a head unit)
Boost 5: Color Correction
Must have been the same peeps who dropped the ball on app optimization. With the gains you get above, you might not need to, but if you're trying to max it out this will do it.
That's it for me! This is what I've done to get my tablet feeling smooth again. Let me know how it goes?
I can attest that a lot of the above is what needs to be done to save the last days of this tablet. I did not now about the journal part- will have to try this. Related, I just flashed the original OTA's for the Wifi edition on my Shield LTE. By doing this I got a insane boost in battery life. The LTE (H+) does not work but I don't need it and there are other devices that have much better connectivity .

This works! Every bit of OP is legit.
I used current TWRP as of today, twrp-3.6.1_9-0-shieldtablet.img, from https://twrp.me/nvidia/nvidiahshieldtablet.html using fastboot install method on a fully updated Android 7 Nvidia Shield Tablet model p1761w.
Thanks, much respect!
It is important that those who still do not install TWRP should know that to enter fastboot, they must use the official nvidia drivers "SHIELD_Family_WHQL_USB_driver_201801"
This method helped me to lighten but it becomes impossible to install applications, the google services together with those of nvidia cause the ram to collapse and the system cannot manage correctly.
I strongly recommend you to change to a custom rom, you will finally feel the fluidity of the system
At this moment I use lineage 15.1 (android 8.1) + google services minimum (pico)
No chrome app - no Gmail app + facebook and instagram full app. and the system remains light.

I really wish a developer(s) would take one more look at this device. If there was way to bump up the android version but retain the NVIDIA features it would breath a few more years into these . These tablets are still pretty good for mid range emulation and now that everything has changed with cloud gaming, they are not as irrelevant as it would seem . I've been having pretty good performance on my LTE 32GB that I flashed the original "WiFi edition " stock ROM on. I get great battery life now and use the tablet almost daily for gaming and light use. The sound is also still pretty impressive and I like the stylus functionality as I can't really afford a Samsung device.
What is "journaling"? Is it the same as the logging by logcat? You can set the buffer size to 0K or 64K (setting it to 0 still logs at 64K).
