NO MORE SLOW. - Shield Tablet Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

For the few who remain using these tablets (and the even fewer who bought a 2015 shield controller like me) I have the final nail in the coffin for performance. Without custom OS. Allowing you to use your very specific (criminally underused) 2015 Shield controller wirelessly. Welcome to the end of your woes (performance not guaranteed, this crap worked for me though). I still haven't checked if battery usage has improved, but it has certainly let me depend on this and use my controller again as opposed to using a CustomOS (previously used AEX 6.7, good performance, but bad video playback and lack of wifi controller support).
Required thingys:
TWRP
This awesome script (JournalingDisabler.zip) (thnx very much skynet28): https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...urnaling-in-internal-ext4-partitions.1252028/
Developer Options
Snacks? Drinks? This is gonna take some time, don't pass out halfway through lol
Boost 1: DISABLE JOURNALING.
Y'all. This is the good stuff. the nitro. This will make your tablet feel new (again, if everything goes right and I'm not some insane fluke). I only got the idea from an offhand comment from m0nt3s. I thought they were talking about one of the writing apps at first, but once I learned what it was, my brain imploded. Did a quick google search, and found skynet28's solution right away. It's a script designed to disable an ext4 logging service that eats up memory and processing power. I didn't think it would be compatible (but my chaotic neutral mind said why not), but it works:
1. Install TWRP using adb and prayer (that's what it feels like the first time around lol)
2. Download the zip (JournalingDisabler.zip) to your tablet.
3. Use the install button in TWRP, navigate to the zip, and install away.
It should show text saying journaling is disabled if all went well. The gains should be immediately noticeable on your next boot. I didn't notice any issues or side effects, but I also have the benefit of not having important/sensitive data on it, so just to play it safe, back up your data in case issues crop up later.
Boost 2: BACKGROUND PROCESSES
This one will be a touch more noticeable, especially if you multitask on this tablet, but it can definitely stop a lot of the hitching. This one will be in the bottom of the developer options. If you don't have dev options, go into the about tablet section and tap the build number until you become a dev. Setting it to 1 or 2 is decent, but setting it to none will have the biggest impact.
Boost 3: DON'T USE APP OPTIMIZATION
Seriously. Don't know who dropped the ball. But just turn it all off. It's not even a boost, it's just a negative having it on.
Boost 4: SYNCING
If anything is syncing, be it Gmail, your YouTube notifications, or a news feed, turn it off. Any time apps struggle and fight for WIFI, your experience sucks. If you aren't using it as a main (i'm using it in my car as a head unit)
Boost 5: Color Correction
Must have been the same peeps who dropped the ball on app optimization. With the gains you get above, you might not need to, but if you're trying to max it out this will do it.
That's it for me! This is what I've done to get my tablet feeling smooth again. Let me know how it goes?

I can attest that a lot of the above is what needs to be done to save the last days of this tablet. I did not now about the journal part- will have to try this. Related, I just flashed the original OTA's for the Wifi edition on my Shield LTE. By doing this I got a insane boost in battery life. The LTE (H+) does not work but I don't need it and there are other devices that have much better connectivity .

This works! Every bit of OP is legit.
I used current TWRP as of today, twrp-3.6.1_9-0-shieldtablet.img, from https://twrp.me/nvidia/nvidiahshieldtablet.html using fastboot install method on a fully updated Android 7 Nvidia Shield Tablet model p1761w.
Thanks, much respect!

It is important that those who still do not install TWRP should know that to enter fastboot, they must use the official nvidia drivers "SHIELD_Family_WHQL_USB_driver_201801"
This method helped me to lighten but it becomes impossible to install applications, the google services together with those of nvidia cause the ram to collapse and the system cannot manage correctly.
I strongly recommend you to change to a custom rom, you will finally feel the fluidity of the system
At this moment I use lineage 15.1 (android 8.1) + google services minimum (pico)
No chrome app - no Gmail app + facebook and instagram full app. and the system remains light.

I really wish a developer(s) would take one more look at this device. If there was way to bump up the android version but retain the NVIDIA features it would breath a few more years into these . These tablets are still pretty good for mid range emulation and now that everything has changed with cloud gaming, they are not as irrelevant as it would seem . I've been having pretty good performance on my LTE 32GB that I flashed the original "WiFi edition " stock ROM on. I get great battery life now and use the tablet almost daily for gaming and light use. The sound is also still pretty impressive and I like the stylus functionality as I can't really afford a Samsung device.

What is "journaling"? Is it the same as the logging by logcat? You can set the buffer size to 0K or 64K (setting it to 0 still logs at 64K).

GooApple V5 issues list

Hello everyone!
First of all sorry for my bad English. I represent smartphones distributor from Kiev, Ukraine. We have contacted with GooApple sales director and have got GooApple V5 sample phone for tests before bulk orders.
All I can say: it's just not ready for international market at the moment and unfortunately they are not very much interested in positive firmware or hardware changes.
They have made firmware ios_11.12.08 for our last recall but non of our issues have been resolved + one added: it doesn't react on first home button push after lock screen, it only shows unlock screen after the second home button push or fast twice push.
Here is our issues list:
Phone's battery draining, runs out too fast!!! After full charge it runs out 75% battery life for 4 hours of usage: 1 call during 5 min., video watch during 8 min., music during 6 min, looking thought photos during 5 min., taking 3 pictures with the camera. 1,5 hour is just for walkthrough over the interface, settings, lock/unlock. 3,5 min. video takes about 5-6% of battery life. And it's without any gaming, internet surfing, making videos. Other time it's just holding.
Screen has some lightness flickering. Backlight blinking, flashing a little bit from the sides and left top corner.
Connect button (in putting Wi-Fi password mode) doesn't work. Just can't connect to any locked Wi-Fi network.
Bad Wi-Fi catch signal even with a close to phone router.
Doesn't remember icons location on springboard bar after moving around and reboot the phone.
Showing the last called phone number in background when sending USSD commands (checking balance or any anything else).
The input keyboard should be the same as iOS with working English and Russian (now it doesn't work) and customization ability in the General folder in Settings.
Booting animation should be the same as iOS with Apple logo only.
Creating folders (put in and put out icons) and moving icons around doesn't work properly.
The font in Calendar, Time, Dial is not the same as iOS.
The sim card pin code enter should be the same as iOS.
How to delete apps like Call Log, PowerOff... chinese QQ and others?
Reminders, Maps, Weather Stocks iReader apps should be in English.
Browser app should be renamed to Safari.
Gallery app should be renamed to Photos.
Phone key at dialpad should be renamed to Keypad.
Must speed up fake iOS usage response, performance.
Must speed up screen rotation/orientation response.
Must replace red ! (exclamation) to the Sending progress bar when sending messages/SMS.
Must replace chinese word to english word Call at the dial pad.
Make possibility of adding your own ringtones in the Settings.
Make double tap or pres hold the home button for multitask, running apps view like on iOS with appear at the bottom of the screen.
Make possibility of completely close/kill apps taking up memory and running in the background.
Make dialing numbers sound quieter (it's set to max by default).
Make lock/unlock sound quieter (it's set to max by default but should be possible to customize).
Make full-screen camera mode when taking photos.
Correct + - add sound mode when playing video, music (quiet sound from 2 to 6 bars and after 6 bars it's big increase in sound).
Remake Videos app (it should redirect/open phone's gallery instead of SDcard content).
Remake YouTube app (it should be in English or redirect/open youtube.com).
WLAN folder in Settings should be renamed to Wi-Fi.
Phone warms up when gaming, talking, videos.
It doesn't recognize sim card enter when ON.
Word Wednesday comes out of the Calendar app icon.
Power On/Off button dangles, swing around with sound.
Upper background part can be seen when charging.
While start pinching any picture from the center it zooms in with imprecision to the side of the picture.
Battery life doesn't shows properly on lock screen (it shows all empty when screen corner shows less of 20% battery life).
It Reboots by itself few times during the day when locking the screen.
If you know any other issues please add them by numbers 39, 40....
Or if you have solutions for any of the issues please also add it by the 1-38 numbers.
I hope we can make it better together!
Possible Solutions to Gooapple V5 issues.
Generally speaking, I don't think that all these reasons are real for every V5 phone around. Did you wipe out every data BEFORE flashing the new rom? If not, certain applications may have been running multiple times (i.e.: Maps in my case when I did that). I am using the android rom (not the iOS one) and I have not all these problems whatsoever.
Possible solutions:
1. Try and see if you have data enabled or GPS is on. This device has a hardcoded (R) Roaming on (i.e. you can't turn it off) plus it's not (yet) capable of 3G data. Turn both of them off while not needing them helps A LOT.
2. Not an issue here with newest android build; maybe your screen has issues. I've had some friends with original iPhones having the same flickering as yours. Turned out to be their retina display.
3. Not true. I'm connecting on both my wifi spots at home both Wep and WAP/PSK. Wifi is low powered though and need you to be NEAR the wifi router / spot (see below).
4. True! Just 5 meters away and a mid-wall makes the difference. They really need to boost their receiver.
5.Try reinstalling AFTER you've made a complete wipe data/factory reset. THEN install the rom. This might fix the issue.
6.I'd really like to see a list of USSD commands if you have one available for this phone... (pm me??? )
7.Same for Greek keyboard. I've overcame the problem by installing Greek Input Method from the market.
8.Heh. +1
9.It works for me for both android and iOS roms.
10,11.I agree.
12.You'll have to be 'root' to do so. The only way I've found to do so is the program superoneclick (google it). After rooting the V5, download from market 'Root Uninstaller'. Works perfectly even with the 'protected apps' like the one you mentioned. I know that you don't have 'market' on iOS rom so here's what I did:
I've had a factory reset first, then installed Android rom and THEN the iOS rom. I've also installed a program called 'Go Launcer EX'. This pops up when unlocking the device asking you what launcher you prefer, this way you have the best of both worlds.
13-16: Agree.
17 & 18: The problem is the retina display with the slow (relatively) 650MHz MTK6573 processor. The G3 (previous model) had a smaller screen that the cpu was able to handle. On android rom things are better though...
19 & 20: Agree.
21: On android you can do so by adding your custom ringtones on a folder called /alarms, /ringtones etc on your sd card. Should work for us too (didn't try it yet).
22. Agree.
23. I am using an app from market called: Advanced Task Manager does the trick.
24-31. Agree.
32. I didn't go that far!!! I guess you're right.
33 & 34. Yep.
35 & 36. I haven't got such a problem. Consider the retina screen of yours has a problem / issue?
37&38. Nope. Works alright here.
Finally another issue with no solution:
39. GPS lock. The GPS won't operate properly in EU (Greece) where I live. Takes forever to find satellites and it won't lock to a fix point even if you wait 10 mins. This is what I'm after right now and if I have a proper solution I'll post it here.
Thanks for putting up this thread Cyber_dude. If you need anything I'll be more than glad to help!
Thanks for your reply.
We have talked with GooApple for about a week now and sure I have made all needed such as wipe data before firmware update. That's because you are basically using Android ROM. Customers buying phones like this one because they just want iPhone for less and want everybody else think they got an iPhone. So using Android on any iPhone replica is just not right. It should run fake iOS and should be at least 60% of the original one. This phone costs $300 icnl. shipping at resellers (price of used iPhone 4 on eBay) and I think user interface should be well polished and flawless for that money.
Yes, Maps on last gooapple_ios_11.12.08 works in English now. But after resolving one problem they made two others, like it doesn't react on first home button push after lock screen, it only shows unlock screen after the second home button push or fast twice push.
1. That's not a solution! Sure I have turned everything like wi-fi, gps... off. But customers want it to be fully functional phone, without thinking: "ohh., have I turned my phone's wi-fi and gps off to kepp the battery alive?" It's shouldn't be like that!
They have you used so low capacity 1050mAh battery. (but we think it's even less). The original iPhone's has 1420mAh. And there are even 2200-2430mAh on the market today. They have changed screen, ram, cpu but keep the same battery. It's just stupid. And it's smaller then iPhone's battery so you just can't replace it. It works maximum up to 3 hours in active usage mode without gaming. (with full brightness on, because turning it less on this screen is just sacrilege).
That's they have answered about that: "when making a phone, we have to consider a lot of things, especially the cost, when everything is as great as iphone 4, the price will be too..."
2. Yes, it's old issue, it resolves after reinstall.
3. It's true. It works on you because your wep password is large then 8 characters. It doesn't work with less passwords like mac or iPhone.
5. Yes, new firmware resolved that.
6. I mean USSD commands for checking balance.
But here is a command to enter EngineerMode: *#67876#*
7. Stock keyboard is a crap. I use Smart Keyboard Pro.
8. I can change robot with apple booting animation but can't change gooapple name at the beginning. I think it's logo.img at the rom zip file. I have tried to delete it and make other changes to the rom but can't sign it. It's always shows sign error at the install.
9. It works but it works very-very badly. Then you are trying to move icon to other position it creates a folder with other icon, it's so annoying.
12. I have also made the root with the SuperOneClick. And delete Chinese apps with Root Explorer.
Thanks for Go Launcer EX advise. What else it can help us with?
17 & 18. They used MTK6513 it's cuted MTK6573 without 3G. It's not the best one anyway.
21. Yes, I also want to try to add custom ringtone to media directory folder.
23. Yes, I also use Advanced Task Killer Pro on gooapple_ios_11.11.30 but they have added double tap home button like iPhone to kill running apps on gooapple_ios_11.12.08
35 & 36. These issues are real and haven't resolved on new roms. That's not screen problem, I can make a screenshot if needed.
37. This one is also real. Can also make a screenshot.
38. Haven't seen this issue on gooapple_ios_11.11.30
39. Maybe you should try to test it in EngineerMode Have you tried to use any other GPS third-party application?
I didn't know about this issue because I haven't tried GPS, no need with this battery.
Do you know how to replace chinese word (Call) to english word Call at the dial pad? Because it's immediately catches the eye when using. I have decompiled the Phone.apk with APK Edit program but all image files are normal over where, chinese word is not an image file. I don't know how to change it.
Just lets keep this thread go by adding new issues and how to solutions.
Got my V5 about 2 weeks ago. Been playing with it for a while - tried both the newer roms and currently running the ios version that is made available about 10 days ago. Been working fine for me, except I may gps is very slow (can take up to 10 minutes for it to find me), and the built in FM Transmitter does not work. I also have various chinese apps which I was not able to delete. I will try the latest rom to see what improvemements it has.
Question, how did you root the phone? I downloaded superoneclick, but keep getting hung on the "waiting for device". I have usb debuggin on, and tried it both with "usb connect" on and off (the setting in the phone to establish a usb connection to a PC). Instead of using this "usb connect" feature, do I need to download some type of usb driver for this phone? If so, can you provide details? I've tried various usb drivers for MT6513 but nothing yet works - even tried something called PDANet which installed some type of software oin the phone and said it was connected, but still the superoneclick failed. Any ideas?
Oh, by the way I found a vending.apk that works on the ios rom. See link below
http://www.mediafire.com/?khpvzmzwwaqyxdm
Thanks
I have uploaded the drivers for GooApple V5, here is the link: http://www.mediafire.com/?h6hr1ckrf3sc7cj
How to root your GooApple V5:
Make sure you use Win XP.
Download drivers file from the link above and unzip it.
Phone Settings -> Applications -> Unknown sources, on
Phone Settings -> Applications -> Development -> USB debugging, on
Phone Settings -> Applications -> Development -> to keep awake, on
Phone Settings -> Applications -> Development -> Allow analog location, on
Connect the data cable, turn on USB storage in the phone.
In the Windows Device Manager (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Device_Manager) find your phone, open properties and install or update the drivers from the unzipped folder.
Reboot your computer.
Now download the SuperOneClick from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=803682 If you run XP, install .NET Framework v2.0 or above.
Shut down your antivirus/firewall.
Turn off USB storage in the phone. Make sure you do not mount the sd card.
Run the SuperOneClick BOOT process. If it's not success from the first time try it again.
After that install the Root Explorer to your phone, go system/app, push Mount R/W button and delete any app you want.
Thanks for the vending.apk, here are also some tips for it: http://www.addictivetips.com/mobile/how-to-install-new-android-market-2-2-6-on-your-device/
Cyber_Dude, thanks for the engineering mode code. You've done a nice job on the rooting info. Just for the story: I've done it on W7, 32bit and worked alright too. Newest superoneclick has the ability to forcibly ask for Admin privileges. Drivers have to be installed manually though.
I've found out into the Engineering menu that there's a CPU Frequency test that reports a high of 806MHz. THAT would be awesome to have when needed. Do you have any *working* utility that is able to over clock the MTK6573 CPU of it? I've tried some from the market but with no luck whatsoever.
Some info on the WiFi boosting would be helpful too. I've been digging into the /etc directory and found out several conf files that may, or may not do the job. I'd rather not alter the values on my own though...
Ah, finally another addition:
There seems to be an issue importing/exporting my contacts from the phone to google.com. Plus the Account and Sync options on the settings menu isn't reporting the respective field (i.e.: only Picassa, books and gmail is able to sync. Contacts is not on the list).
Thanks.
Cyber_dude - thanks for the rooting details. Got my V5 rooted today, and it worked from my vista laptop (didn't need a xp PC). I deleted the 9 chinese apps no problem including the chinese market app.
The vending.apk I provided works whether you root or not - however now that I'm rooted I will keep your instructions in mind if I want to upgrade to a different market version.
I'm still on the Dec1/2011 ios rom - anyone know what the newer ios rom (Dec10/2011) has to offer? I have tons of apps and settings personalized, so I'm not really wanting to wipe the phone to load the latest ios rom unless I know it will have some improvements.
Only problems I still have, which I would appreciate feedback on, are:
1) gps is very slow to find my location (can take up to 30 minutes). Funy thing is that as I scroll on the map it refreshes fast, and I can find addresses and streets, but it just can not find my location?
2) ther built in FM Transmitter does not work - would love to get this working since I do not have bluetooth stereo in the car. FYI - found other fmtransmiiter.apk apps on the net - can I just replace my existing same app on systems/bin to make it work?
Thanks
Have you tried it with the 'new' Android UI ROM? How does it perform? I'd really like to see some videos - youtube only has 13 and I've seen them all ..

1) Same thing here. From the data sheet (from Mediatek) of the MTK6573 (which this phone has) the update location should be as fast as 10ms (that's 1/100 of a second) so something is DEFINITELY wrong.
2) I think you'll have to 'sign' it somehow. There are some apps that are supposed to provide 'signed' apps but never got to work with one; so I have no experience.
Cheers
macsga, DanADaMan, you are welcome.
I think cpu overclocking is not in time now and it also can make even worse. But we'll be glad if you can find any good, stable working app for that and test it. The only thing need to be overclocked now is the iOS UI, it should have to be polished well to match the original one.
For WiFi boosting, have you tried Wifi Fixer or Wifi Analyzer, you can change your WiFi channels with it.
GPS chipset is very bad. It's just a copy, fake phone, so they have used the cheapest hardware parts for it, we should reconcile to it. Unless they somehow fix it in new firmware, but I don't think it's gonna happen in near future. The main market for this phone is China, so they don't hasten with any international changes. As GooApple sales director said to me: "we sold more then 500pcs aday, should this problem happend to every phone, i think all the phone should return to us". So maybe chinese people are just not as demanding as we are, and they are happy with the phone? Anyway, I think with a good administrative force all listed issues can be resolved in just one week.
By the way, as I know they are planning to produce new phone in January with the 3G support. No info about any other new hardware at the moment.
Meantime we have to add new issues to the list:
39. GPS is very slow to find my location (can take up to 30 minutes).
40. Built in FM Transmitter does not work.
41. Importing/exporting my contacts from the phone to google.com. Plus the Account and Sync options on the settings menu isn't reporting the respective field (i.e.: only Picassa, books and gmail is able to sync. Contacts is not on the list).
42. In last gooapple_ios_11.12.08 firmware it doesn't react on first home button push after lock screen, it only shows unlock screen after the second home button push or fast twice push.
Updates in the last gooapple_ios_11.12.08 firmware:
Increase in task manager.
Blocking state to increase unread text message reminder.
Debug chinese QQ picture upside down.
Some Google applications added (en maps, gmail, voice..)
Task Manager.
Standby SMS prompts.
Double-click the home button shows running/standby apps and kill possibility like in original iOS.
Plus issue 42 added.
I haven't tried all new features in gooapple_ios_11.12.08 I don't want to use it because of the 42 issue. Now I'm using previous gooapple_ios_11.11.30 version. If anyone already installed and running the gooapple_ios_11.12.08 please give us your feedback.
DanADaMan, maybe you should try to make the data backup in stock recovery mode first and install firmware update after that? Maybe this should keep all your apps in and give you the new firmware? (haven't tried by myself)
jontelang, Sure, Android UI works much better with it, but I personally don't want to use it on this phone, it would be too simple and means you gave up making iOS UI ROM better.
As a side note, I've noticed that the phone is able to provide extraordinary 2D & 3D performance. I don't agree with the comment "It's just a copy, fake phone, so they have used the cheapest hardware parts for it, we should reconcile to it." you posted earlier Cyber_Dude, because I've seen cheap devices and this is nothing like it.
I do believe that the dev team has issues supporting the phone chipset due to the novelty that presents at the current time. This processor came out only at the end of June 2011 (fairly new).
News about MTK MT6573 Processor
Monday, June 13, 2011 3:25:26 AM America/Los_Angeles
Since the release MTK MT6516 processor, there is lots of Android phones in the market, which support GSM network and dual SIM card smartphone. But later, when Qualcomm, Broadcom and other smartphone processor manufacturer access into the field, mtk's dimmed. MTK MT6573 is the only hope in the future.
The end of June, 2011, we will share the latest trends with you, with the following new star.
Time: the first smartphone with MT6573 processor has been assembled, the major integrators, solution providers have had contact with, the reaction generally very good, have begun to prepare the relevant program models. As far as know, next month the first smartphone with MT6573 processor will unveiled.
Performance: As MT6573 is positioned in the low-end smartphone, we should not expect performance of deification, but the actual test performance to facilitate more than Qualcomm MSM7227, while MT6573 with the 3D acceleration in the multimedia DSP will give you a surprise. Currently sent to the integrators, solution providers of 3G features are still several prototype debugging.
Programs: MT6573 and MT6516 share same pins, and the both chips can be exchange without any hardware change, this will save cost on design for smartphone manufacturers.

macsga, But have you test it side by side with the iPhone 4 (not talking about 4S)?
Sure if comparing with other copies it's a winner. It's the best choice if you want to buy an iPhone replica for the price of the used iPhone 4 and you're not too picky. But it's a huge contrast with the original iPhone 4 UI performance, speed and hardware. And at the present time it's not totally ready for the wide international market due to the all listed issues. That's why I have started this thread, all together we can make it better. Unfortunately GooApple's dev team/engineers do nothing for it, local market and the new phone's version is their main goal at the moment. I know that because I've contacted with the GooApple sales director for the last 3 weeks.
As I have posted before they used MTK6513 it's cut MTK6573 without 3G support. It's good but not the best one. Anyway CPU is not the main problem of GooApple V5. The low capacity battery is much bigger failure. The android-sale.com is just a reseller, they can write anything they want to sell the phones more efficiently.
Hehe, I do have a 4s and (you're right) side by side there's nothing like it. That's why I gave up on iOS UI and turned to the android native one. I do believe that it's a perfect android testbed though. And for 230 Eur (retail price) that the 32Gb model cost me; well I can't really complain.
So; I totally agree! Let's try and make it better
The UI might be faster if you lower the resolution (i.e.: draw @ 480x320 and not the retina native resolution this phone has). It's zoom capabilities should cover the gap and reduce choppiness. Of course, this is just a crazy thought of mine...
macsga, Where have you got it for 230 EURO for 32GB? Official resellers like android-sale.com and rofen.net selling 32GB model for $319.99 (245 EURO) without shipping cost.
How could you lower the resolution? And why? If you want lower resolution you just should buy cheaper GooApple 3G version and it has faster UI response: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WqAevweocKs

I got it before the EUR/USD was at 1/1.29 which is what you just calculated . The lower resolution (magnified) would in my opinion give the fast and smooth feeling the 3G has.
As per why I didn't go for the 3G, I did not, because of the retina display the V5 has. The official replacement for a retina display from Apple goes up to 390EUR+pnp, where I got the whole phone for 230 (OK plus 11$ shipping). In the meanwhile I have an android phone to play with (apart from my 4s). Fair deal.
I just wiped the phone and tried to load the ios 12-08-11 rom. Got an error something about not being a signed rom. I reinstalled the ios 12-01-11 ios rom no problem.
Anyone else have problems loading the latest ios rom?
Thanks
is this real?
i have heard that the Gooapple v5 is very good, and it is the same display as the real iphone 4, and can exchange with the iphone 4 display, does this ture?

There are newer ones from 2011.12.10 on http://rom.gooapple.com use those. Hopefully you won't have the same issues. Correction: Unfortunately the new Android one is not signed- The iOS though works OK

Yes, it's real. You can watch exchanging one another, on youtube here:

The flickering at the corners of the screen is annoying on mine, has this developed from the latest ROM or did you guys see it in previous? I've only had it a few days and updated straight away. I've resorted to the android UI cos the IOS one was sluggish but am more than happy to swap back to help?!
What I did find was GTA III kills this phone. On launch the intro plays but as the game launches the screen goes black and the phone will not respond to any button pressing for an hour, then I think it kills the process and the phone comes back. Just don't try, unless someone can tell me otherwise?
Mine responds on one click of the home button right now but Wireless is pants and so is GPS!
---------- Post added at 09:48 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:35 PM ----------
How do I tell if I loaded 2011-12-08 or 2011-12-11?
I downloaded them on the 15th and loaded the Android one without any complaints of it being unsigned? Did it over the top of the version it came with though so not fresh install...
EDIT:
Thought it was worth adding how to get into engineers menu:
Dial “*#67876#*”
Is there a way to turn WiFi Tx from 20 to 40 or even more?
I need to root mine still
I never noticed flickering and I have to say that the latest 'iOS' rom is a bit faster on my device resulting in a rather good imitation while the previous was very choppy.
The only drawback is that the UI crashes every now and then. I do like the 'long press' function of the home button that is able to kill apps in the 'official' iOS mode plus I think for the 1st time since I owned this phone that I like more the iOS UI to the android one.
I do have to offer a couple of tips that I found through my xda search:
1. Using a program like Root Explorer (root) you may want to make the following directories as Read Only: /data/tombstones and /data/system/dropbox
This has as a result, that the phone won't be able to log into the main phone memory thus trimming down your available space.
2. *IF* you're using the iOS UI version of the rom you can safely(?) remove the following apps (I state them as bloatware) via Root Uninstaller (root):
-QQ input method and keyboard
-Chinese market
-Chinese Youtube (Yuku)
-Chinese Maps
-Chinese Weather (3 entries, remove all three)
-Chinese iBooks (Google books does the job)
3. Add the following app: Locale Select from the Market and choose your language of choice.
4. If you search the xda site you will be able to find signed Google Apps that (most of them) work with this phone.
Ah, one last thing: I found the best player for playing p0r... erm, Movies, MoboPlayer with the additional ArmV7VFP3 plugin. Supports almost every codec and srt file out there and respective char encodings. Please ignore the message: This program is not compatible with your device. Works like a charm, I swear.
Cheers.

Lag Reduction Guide

Although I have none... Maybe these things as well as contributors can come up with some ideas that might have helped:
1. Kies restore via norbarb's/Kies method. This will remove root, but rerooting is 30 secs.
Root Link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2252248
Kies Link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2261232
All information is in his thread, but I feel it's easier to download Kies
start it up
and then plug your phone in. Kies will do the rest.
2. Seeder from Market by Entropy512. Root Required!
Download from Market
enable lag reduction
check only 'Start automatically on boot''
select performance profile "Moderate"
Reboot your phone and check its on.
3. Disable the following:
Power Saving (This one lags the phone quite a bit on different charge levels)
Screen Mirroring
Multi Window (This one straight lags the phone period, kinda useless)
4. Android Assitant
Download from Market
Select Tools from Tabs
Select Startup Manager
Under User Tab - Kill anything you don't care about
Under System Tab (Check to Kill on Startup, will run when you start it)-
Email (I don't use it)
Exchange Services (I don't use it - for MS Exchange Servers)
Help
Internet
Maps
Facebook SNS
Talk
Youtube
Reboot the phone
5. Developer Options. (Click 7 Times on the Build Number)
Window animation scale = 0.5
Transition animation scale = 0.5
Animator duration scale = 0.5
I don't use any ATT stuff so I removed it, but I doubt this will do anything. I have everything else enabled other than listed above like air gestures blah bla bla
By all means not exhaustive and lag is based on what you have loaded.... but I just hope this helps!
If others have anything to add please do.
0.5 still gives me lag, I set it to 0 just because it feels more instant.
I still see lag in glow animations, however, so I really think there is something up with the scaling/governor of the CPU/GPU. This will likely be remedied in future optimizations, patches, and/or third-party kernels (I hope).
I also turned off Air View, Air Gesture, Smart Stay, and Smart Scroll just because a part of me feels those were unnecessarily taxing. Messaging actually seems to load faster now that I don't think it needs to track finger movements.
I'm the opposite, I have all the features turned on & animations at default 1.
What I did was frooze all AT&T apps but left Samsung Apps alone since I like to see what they have to offer. Of course, you can freeze them if you want.
DL an app called Android tuner from the Play store & went to the startup section. I unchecked all apps that I didnt want to startup.
I have done just about everything listed in the 1st post and more at least 3 times in the past 3 days..
The lag-a-thon continues..
I have not tried Seeder or Android Assist nor will I!
I am sure they are premium and top notch applications but if I need to go to that extent just make what should be one of the fastest and quickest phones on the planet (based on it's specs) work then it's time for me to return and move along...
Good luck all as the POS is heading back to AT&T.. :good: :good: :good:

I believe you have to leave Samsung apps completely working because they are tied to the SystemUI and features.

I did the Odin method twice last night and once today..
Have not tried Kies but may give it a shot later tonight before this thing gets boxed up and sent back to hell...
I doubt there will be any difference whatsoever between using Kies or Odin but hey, I will give it a try..

Sorry about the frustration, but I appreciate you giving it another try as I really am enjoying this phone coming from an Infuse 4G.
In the meanwhile, try seeder and android assistant as well.... Root is reversible anyways.... Good luck!
Seeder is not by entropy512...it relies on a thing called entropy...and most devs say its pacebo as there is no real reason why it would increase performance...this is just based of the entropy threads ive read...and I believe entropy512 was one of those people who stated it was placebo so a little irony there...however if it makes your phone run faster then use it but I never noticed any differnce with using seeder on any of my previous phones (samsung infuse, htc vivid)
Here is seeders official thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1987032

Its like any other program and settings done to phones. Some maybe affected some maybe not.... I through it on most my phones.... Depends what you are running I guess, but who knows... I have 2 SGS4's... One for me and my wife... She doesn't have it and I do.... Most settings are the same, i'll see... Both bought on opening date at the same time, so hard to tell hardware batch... But I will seee......
Try looking for an app that prevents apps from starting up like "android tuner" or "Rom toolbox pro".
Something else is hit power saver off and on. Power saver limits the cpu speed might be it...

i've noticed a tiny bit of a delay when unlocking the phone and perhaps when opening SMS and the phone, but its not enough that I feel it's the same lag that a lot of people here are complaining about. I'm only basing that on the fact that there's no way i'd be THIS upset (as some of you are) based on what i'm seeing. So while there's lag, im afraid to try this stuff because it cant possibly be what you guys are experiencing unless you're all huge complainers, which I doubt :silly:
These steps can be done on any phone and are generic. I am suggesting you try it
Just a quick, simple suggestion for everyone posting their best "you should try app XYZ" on this thread and others without posting any links to them.... please take the extra 2 seconds to link the app from the Play Store - ahhh, you see what I did there! - because it makes your attempt at a helpful post actually helpful! In the thread I made about that Weather Station app, do you know how many apps that have the words "Weather Station" there are on the Play Store? Here's the current list - would be pretty mean of me if I didn't link it, right? And someone still asked me on that thread what the name of the developer was because they didn't just click the link! :silly:
My 2 cents........
I am rooted and have noticed a little bit of lag - In the past I have used an app called "LagFix" free https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.grilledmonkey.lagfix&feature=search_result#?t=W251bGwsMSwyLDEsImNvbS5ncmlsbGVkbW9ua2V5LmxhZ2ZpeCJd
So I tried installing it - dropped my animations in Settings/Developer Options to .5 and I noticed a pretty decent improvement.
I have also have always used Android Assistant https://play.google.com/store/search?q=android+assistant&c=apps because it is such a useful APP and it helps as well.
FYI - I also froze some of the unneeded ATT Bloatware APPS but I am not sure if that had any effect or not -
I was a little dissapointed when I first got this phone because of the lag but honestly I think I have been spoiled by running custom roms for so long I got used to having little to no bloat and hi power kernels --- so, I had to bring things into perspective - can't wait to get the bootloader unlocked and some AOSP roms to flash - lol
I still love this phone despite the few minor annoyances...
So i read in another thread of some people trying a different launcher and having better results.. I just installed nova launcher and bam.. lag is completely gone. LIke.. there is ZERO lag, not even a hitch.. so maybe the problem lies in how samsung did the launcher?
The only thing that i dont like now is that I can't use the really nicely redone clock/weather widget and the fantastic briefing widget which i fell in love with on day one. Oh well, at least my phone zips now.

Nice going to add to the front.
Some people are using Trickster to tweak the cores... which I have heard it works, but I get wakelocks from this,...
What kind of wakelocks are you seeing? I'm seeing very very little wakelocks using trickster. I unplugged my phone at 4:30 am this morning. 12 hours later I still have 89% battery left with very few wakelocks (kernel/partial). With 48 mins screen on. Couple of phone calls and texts.
Yeah not sure why.... I am not sure how to find these wake locks.... I would need to jump into Better battery stats to do so...

Safe guarding 4.3(jellybean), stoping the shield from updating?

So when I noticed my Shield downloaded the 4.4 update, and went over the notes in it, I was like I better come to XDA and see if this is for me or not.
CLEARLY being an emulation junkie I need to stick with my beloved 4.3.
What I need to know is if there are any safeguards I can take to stop my shield from updating to 4.4 accidentally / automatically, seeing as the files are already on it waiting to be updated?

Long press the OTA notification, select app info, Uncheck the box that says show notifications. (Or go into apps and find Google services Framework, and disable it that way)
The Shield will not Automatically update on it's own regardless, but now you won't ever see the notification.
If you ever want to update just go into settings, about, Update.
There are other ways but I'm not sure if they will work with the Shield/Have not tried them.
You can also install the Gamepad Mapper, and new Tegra Zone. just grab these APKs and install them normally. This way you have the improved gamepad mapper, and remote streaming when you want it. The new Tegrazone app doesn't replace the old one, so you can still use the HQ old Tegrazone app. The Nvidia button will also only open the old app, I used Gravity box to set up the Y button to open the new Tegrazone app with a long press, and that works perfect.

The same thing happened to me. Since I use the Shield for emulators and some Android games (no interest with streaming PC games on a 5" display), I have no need for 4.4. Especially since emulators are reported to play slower and most of all, external writing for 3rd party apps has been killed by Goople (not spelling error).
The only catch here is the 464 MB update will still be taking up flash storage, since already downloaded. Added: Mine is still on 4.2, as was out of box when bought from Best Buy last week.

Thank you for the reply, Some really handy information here for avoiding the update but getting the goods out of it.
I do have three follow up questions :
1. I want to really confirm what you are saying, that "the shield will not update on it's own" I've had my shield since July/13, I could swear that it's updated itself with out me pushing a button, like even the last update before kitkat, I really thought it updated on it's own. LIke if I shut the shield off, it wont force the update?
2. I have a 64gb sd card so it's not really a big deal that i lost 400megs of internal data doesn't seem like a big deal to me.
But I do wonder, there must be a way to delete those update files some how?
a. I've avoided rooting my shield mostly cause I'm lazy, never done it before, and it seems like it adds complications, should I?
3. About your work around suggestions;
a. What's the difference between the old tegrazone and new one?
b. Do I need to map a button for the new tegrazone or can I just open it like any other app?
c. What is the "remote streaming"? I mean I know about how I can stream from my PC to the shield at home, is this a feature that is new that lets me stream from like, wifi at a coffee shop or something?
4. This may be a better question for some where else, but as of right now the only real reason i'm avoiding the update is because of emulator performance. But from what I can tell there are a lot of negative things about this update.
What are the other pros and cons about the latest update? (I heard something about it effect the useability of my SD card among other things?)
I dont know if theyre in the same spot as other android devices but check the /data/fota folder for the new update files. If its there do me a huge favor please and copy the file and upload it. If you have a slow connect could u grab a couple files from it for me i need to check something.

1. I've rebooted/power off my Shield many times, no problems. I think I've had it on 4.3 since 4/16 it's never updated on it's own, but I do have CWM (custom recovery)
2. The only way around that is unlocking the bootloader and rooting. It's a simple process, getting the environment to use ADB and getting the drivers to all work properly is key, and the hardest part. the process goes: Unlock bootloader > Flash custom recovery (CWM) > Flash root package with CWM.
3. a. Better ui, and streaming options, but lower quality video, and sound lag when streaming. Remote streaming. - New TegraZone
b. No, you can open it like any other app.
c. Exactly, it lets you stream your games away from home, and it's not bad.
4. Really the only cons I see in 4.4 are the SD restrictions, and the worse performance/battery life, everything else is great! The overall polish of Kitkat is really nice, probably my biggest pro is the immersive status bar. Being able to pull the status bar down while streaming a game is really nice (or anywhere fullscreen really)
If you do end up rooting/unlocking your shield, I recommend eventually installing the Xposed Installer and getting Gravity box, there's a lot of useful tweaks in there. :good:
Seems if the main focus is Android and emulator games, stay away from 4.4, but if main focus is PC gaming, 4.4 is the way to go. The stutter that happens due to the random throttle issues with emulators and control input ruins the emulators for me. If I had not been used to them playing smooth on my other devices and the Shield as is, perhaps I would not be as bothered. The difference though is very noticeable to me. Even NES and PCE games stutter/lag. Not good cricket!
If there is an Nvidia update that fixes this issue, I will consider starting from scratch with unlocking and then rooting to remove external write restrictions. Right now, the performance issue does not warrant the effort or free time wasted starting over again.

Need to be rooted to access. Of course. Drat.
I would like the 4.3 update. I guess I was a week too late buying this.
4.4 No lag for me in any emulators other than some rooms in reicast. Arcade is mint. I spend a lot of time with cps2 and neo geo games. If you're having speed issues in 4.4 try a better emulator. Haven't had any speed issues with retro arch.

"A better emulator"
That just isn't really the problem though, these same emulators were perfect before.
If you have them both, please try Castlevania Aria of Sorrow on GBA.emu
It's unplayable on 4.4, but perfect on later android versions, even with 0 frameskip and hq2x rendering. Now on the other hand, the My Boy! emulator seems to work nearly as well on both android versions and I played through Tomba with FPse partly with 4.3, and finishing it on 4.4, I noticed very little difference. So not all emulators have taken a hit, but it's there even in the system.. and don't get me started on battery life.
Basically I'm kinda agreeing with you. But, there is some issue either with Android 4.4, or whatever Nvidia did.
A little more on Topic. Ever since I disabled the notification from Google Services, and deleted the update from the cache partition, It hasn't downloaded again! It's been 2 days since I did that, and It's had plenty of times to download an OTA. (reboots, sleep with wifi on, etc.) It might download if you go to the update settings, so watch out.
Well I'm glad that I checked out XDA before I purchased a shield. I was looking for emulators, some android gaming, and for sure PC streaming since I have a powerful rig. I'll wait until Nvidia gets this stuff sorted. I planned to root and unlock so I'm not too worried about the external storage issues.

Unless you are a gamer/emulator fan, you probably will not notice as much, but we do. Smooth with 4.2 to stuttery with 4.4 is not an option IMO, so 4.4 is not happening- unless there is an update to fix it
People refer to Retroarch, but compared to the other dedicated emulators, it does not have the same level of features (nor perform as good with some). Also, the lack of individual system defined directories for the different roms is a major pain. :silly:

Extremely slow and laggy

So I got my Nvidia Shield a while back. The first thing I did when getting it was installing all the updates. Eventually after the final update was installed, I did a full factory reset of the device.
I have hardly any apps installed besides the essential Google applications, but my Nvidia Shield still feels remarkably slow. Chrome is practically unusable, and switching between apps is not a pleasant experience at all. That said, benchmarks and games perform wonderfully, which has me a bit puzzled. There doesnt seem to be any problems with memory leaks as there is plenty of RAM available. I do tend to restart it quite often just to see if it makes a difference, but I doesnt really feel like it has much of an impact.
Does anyone here have similar issues at all? I have worked with Android quite a bit and never have I experienced a system run Android so much worse than you would expect given the hardware specifications. My Nexus 10 feels a lot more snappy in general use.
Thanks for any help
All I can say is that I have a similar experience to you, although I have quite a lot of applications installed. I don't have any solutions for you, only to wait and hope that nvidia optimises the software for the hardware in the next update (Android 5.1 hopefully)
It's up to you, but I will recommend you to try this:
1) Unlock bootloader and Root (If you haven't).
2) Use CWM in this thread as custom recovery, I know TWRP is fancier but has some issues while flashing and wiping stuff, tending to not cleanly install things.
3) Try @BitOBSessiOn custom CM12 ROM here.
4) As stated there, avoid CM gapps, we don't know why but they are culprit of making the system lag A LOT making it almost unusable as you posted, specially if you frequently use Facebook and Chrome. Instead use the minimal gapps posted there.
5) Really important step: Activate Developer Options and disable all animations, lollipop men leak resides on a function called when the system draws them, so the only temporal fix for this is disabling them, after that, reboot and kill any bloatware app on options > apps (G+, FB, Messenger, Vine, Chrome, etc)
6) Profit
I've had this problem too.
I just turned off battery saver. It got too low, automatically turned on and I didn't realize but when I turned it off, it got way faster.

The Lollipop memleak bug is pretty easy to detect though and that's not what's causing the performance issue on the Shield Tablet. At least not in my case. While I would normally be the first to unlock my bootloader and port CM to my new device, I would want to keep my tablet stock.
Im glad to know I'm not the only one experiencing issues so Im going to assume that there's nothing specifically wrong with my device in particular. I guess Ill give Nvidia one more chance to rectify performance issues with their next update, otherwise I'm selling the tablet and buying a Nexus 9 or something else.
I have the same experience. I have flashed the latest recovery image, unlocked and rooted. I have disabled apps I don't need and does not have a lot of apps installed. It is unbelievable slow. Like stated above Chrome is almost useless and switching apps is painful. I am using my Nexus 10 too, the Shield tablet will collect dust until there is a fix released.
If I have the time I will try flashing CM12 but I rather stay stock.
You should give it a shot...
Chrome lag totally solved. Most Nvidia apps work. Only deal breaker is the controller, but a ps3 controller can be paired via BT using sixaxis app.

This has almost convinced me to switch to cm12.
If it just werent for the loss of Dabbler, some other Nvidia apps and the fact that I have a looooot of apps installed...
Not worried about gamepad, because I use an ipega 9023.
I may have found the holy grail of slow laggy freezy hell! https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jrummy.apps.memory.manager under tasks go to 3 dot menu at top right choose minfree manager pick the top silder and max it out. Hit apply, let app stay in background and proceed with speedy happy days.
I don't know why but it won't keep the settings after boot no matter what I do but I can live with it now and don't fantasize about smashing it with a rock anymore.
I should mention short of non-stock Nvidia roms I tried EVERYTHING twice! This just works for 3 days now perfectly. I actually might even trust it in a week for actual work applications. My poor old Nexus 7 gen one was totally owning the Shield except for game until now.
I have a LTE USA model running rooted 4.4 Kit Kat. I would guess this will work with 5 as well.
Please remove. (Double post)

Root your tab. Do a nandroid backup, backup your apps with titanium backup, flash cm or team eos rom (gotta plug my stuff, restore your apps with titanium. If you don't like it, restore your nandroid and you're back like nothing ever happened.

I have it rooted, with xposed, and a lot of apps. I may try CM over the weekend.

Dabbler works fine on CM. It's on the Play Store.

And GRID also works fine. The only deal breakers (and the ones every dev is working hard to make em work on AOSP) are console mode and the controller wireless pairing.

That's contradictory. I have a really tiny LMK value for foreground apps (foreground= 8mb, Visible=16, secondary=32, hidden=64, content provider=96, empty=128 ) so apps in the foreground are killed only if system goes under 8mb of free ram, and have no lag, but I'm on CM12.1. So I really don't know how this is working but I'm glad for you. Although it may drain your battery faster BC android is killing apps as soon as they go to the foreground to keep that amount of free ram and is using more CPU cycles to load them back when you need them again, that's what I get. But anyone with more knowledge maybe could guide us why this is working???
Interesting, it's working but I didn't even try any other variables. I will try your settings and get back. Needless to say battery life is next after usability.

Ok tried your suggestion verbatim. It immediately was back in useless mode as I have been calling it. Without a reboot it took me at least 15min to get back to here. Still could not type so minmanged back to previous settings and its running. Weird.
My test would have been run Facebook, chrome & this app with poweramp music. Never got halfway before it got all James May on me. Are we running the same tablet? Any thoughts on why we could have opposed settings and get different successful results.

Also when it slows down it gets warmer the settings I'm using leave it pretty cool in comparison.
I'm on stock 5.0.1, 32gb SD + internal memory almost full. I experience some lag mainly with chrome and switching app. Yestetday I tried to set the power saver to "max performance" and the everything seems much smoother..
Make sure you SD cards are formatted with NTFS. exFAT is fine for 32gb, but if you have a 64GB or higher, the card needs to be formatted in a PC using NTFS...
Don't ever let your main ram storage memory get below 500meg.
If somehow you run out of memory,, let's say sub 10megs then all manner of weird things begin to happen including reboots and app crashing. You can jam that external sd1 card full however.
I reset mine several times and tried everything I saw in these threads about the lagginess and stuff.
In the end, I found the solution. I returned the NST and exchanged it for a new iPad Mini 2 32gb Retina Screen... No really.
I love Android on the phone, but it just seems that the tablet arena isn't anywhere near as far along and sorted out yet. Buggy, almost too many options, so you wonder how much love each model gets from the manufacturer, etc... I hate to have a new tablet for $300, and the only way to get it to run the way it was supposed to run out of the box, is to void the warranty, root and install a custom ROM on it, and give up some features in the process.
I like ROMs for things that they do above and beyond the stock experience. I don't feel that I should pay that much for a device and have a ROM be a requirement just to get it to run decently...
So, for my tablet needs, I had to go to the dark side. Good luck!
I will still rock my Note 4 and don't see myself going to Apple for my phone needs any time soon, but for a general purpose tablet for Netflix, email, browsing and basic games... I agonized for hours over this but in the end I just pulled the trigger and exchanged it.

[Guide][Apps] Apps for your Xperia C3 D2533

Hi everyone, seeing as this forum is kinda dead I might as well release a small guide for anyone holding a D2533 since there are lesser chances of 'Best settings prease' and 'best rom/kernel/recovery/app' people to annoy me with.
This guide is meant to recommend to anyone what are the best apps I have used so far in terms of performance, gaming, and general battery life. Without further ado, let me begin.
But first, disclaimer.
I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR YOUR PHONE TURNING INTO AN AWKWARD BOOKMARK OR CHOPPING BOARD. PLEASE USE DISCRETION AND CAUTION WHEN MENTIONED. THIS IS AN OBLIGATORY 'I TOLD YOU SO.'
Apps that works without root.
1. None. If you're here your phone should be rooted already to make use of apps requiring root. lel
For normal rooted phones without recovery
1. Kernel Adiutor
This app allows an in-depth adjustment of your device, allowing full control on memory management and kernel parameters. Use with caution as it requires reading up on the functions to fully take advantage of the options available.
1a. Root Booster
An alternative to Kernel Adiutor, if you don't like to mess too much with the settings then let this nifty app do the work for you. I didn't try buying Pro version but this is good enough, though I wouldn't recommend you use this WITH CPU tuner to prevent conflicts.
2. AdAway
Browsing your phone but attacked by ads? This beats AdBlock Plus hands down as it fully terminates all adverts at the core level, enough said. Less ads = less phone processing + less data used BUT useless if you're using Chrome on Data Saving settings.
3. Titanium Backup
The one reason most gamers would want to root their phones, especially when you have a whopping 1.8Gb (3 games) to install each time you reset or install your ROM. Especially useful when you want to skip the process of downloading and registering your apps again.
4. CF. lumen
I find this app making it easy on your eyes, especially when you turn on your phone at night. What this little guy does is it applies a filter on your screen to block out blue light from your phone, said to be the reason why people find it hard to sleep at night after looking at any screen whatsoever. More info in this link.
For phones running recovery + Xposed
Note: Saw the disclaimer up there? Yes, it refers to this section so be advised. You absolutely MUST have recovery to work with Xposed as insurance and precaution. If you are running Lollipop 5.0 or 5.1, do refer to the Xposed Threads in this website carefully on how to install. KitKat users should be fine though.
By the way, if you want to install Xposed on Lollipop stock roms, make sure the rom has been modified (Deodexed) or you end up with a chopping board who dreams of turning into a brick one day.
1. Performance Profile
What this guy does is, it allows you to decide at what speed do you want each app chosen to run. This is your governor changer for your apps, useful for apps like Clash of Clans that takes up a crapload of power in your phone in exchange for crap graphics.
2. GLTools
Note: Install by recovery is the best choice
Did I mention gaming? With GLTools, you reduce the graphics on most games that generally lags your phone or force closes it. I've been playing a 2GB Ram game on this phone (Fate/Grand Order) but I can't help with the heating and battery drain.
As usual, fiddle around with the settings as it doesn't necessarily affect all games the same way.
3. RootCloak
Some apps detects root and SuperSU might not be able to hide it. For that, you need RootCloak to hide traces of evil roots to appease that paranoid app. Pretty straightforward, the interface is simple enough for any idiot to use.
4. Xtreme Video
Worth a special mention, our C3 unfortunately does not have a Bravia Engine for some godforsaken reason. This mod provides it, giving our Xperia a place to belong in the feature list. Album viewing has never felt so satisfying.
.
.
.
.
.
Well this is nice. These are all the apps I use most of the time, I got more but they don't work so well on the C3 so I won't mention them. Thanks for reading anyways, and good luck with the phone.
