i dont know anything about your device, so you may have to help me help you a little.
how exactly are you installing the rooted system? maybe post a link so i can have a look at it. leave off the http and .com or whatever so it will let you post it.
once you flash a rooted system, you shouldnt need to root again, unless you can show me some other info that says this is necessary. a rooted system is rooted, kinda doesnt make sense to root it again.

To be honest I don't know because I have been to several pages trying to fix my phone from the bootloop it's in right now. I do know that I have tried these methods;
http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/development/official-boost-lg-g-stylo-unbrick-guide-t3215198,
http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/development/boost-stylo-5-1-1-zv5-custom-rom-v1-t3216307,

As well as a few other pages that I don't remember or have bookmarked. I know that after I tried my first root attempt from this page http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/development/guide-how-to-root-lgls770-5-1-1-t3184649. My phone has been in a bootloop that I have been trying to fix. Also do you know if I have to keep downloading files like the root & drivers?

ahh, being stuck in a bootloop is important info you should have included before.
in that case, i recommend you stick with trying to restore the stock software. its best to try and fix it, and learn how, before possibly making it worse.
i would search google for ways to help you fix it, and forget about the root and non stock stuff until its working again.

[Q] Safest Root Method for D80020y

Hi there,
I got a "certified like new" D800 from an At&t Device Support Center recently and it came with the latest OTA D80020y.
I'm trying to figure out what the most conservative way to root 20y would be.
I've looked into:
- IOroot25: Seems like it only supports up to D800 10q.
- Towelroot v3 by geohot: This post makes me think towelroot won't work with 20y (confirms that ioroot won't work either).
- Stump Root?: As I understand it's for Sprint/Verizon G3, but this post confirms that it will likely work on D80020y with a brute force method (not sure what that entails).
So stump root sounds like the only option for rooting on 20y, but does anyone know if there is any issues or risks associated with this brute force method compared with other root methods?
Is the safest way to get root for someone on 20y to simply use the LG Flash Tool and go back to older KK or JB firmware? If that is the case, which firmware is ideal for rooting?
I don't want custom recovery at this point, but I will eventually when I grow weary of the LG overlay.
Hopefully this thread will help others who find themselves on D80020y and want root privileges (or even get recovery for that matter). I think if you're planning on getting recovery and flashing a new firmware, LG Flash Tool is the way to go though. I just don't want to abandon my setup simply for root.
Thanks!
~bokonon9
im on 20y and been using Stump root since day one. Absolutely no issues for me. You brute force it, it takes 2 or 3 minutes then it asks you to reboot. reboot, install superSU then you are golden.
From 20u, I OTA updated to 20y then used Stump to root (bruteforce of course). Everything works fine since.
It works just smooth.. no hiccups at all..
Its worked like charm.. I was really hesitated to root my device as it was my first time to root to get my lost files which I accidentally deleted. I saw this post and thought of giving a try. The steps I followed are
1. Installed stump root on my device (downloaded and transferred from my mac)
2. it will ask permission to Bruteforce and select yes.
3. it takes less than a minute to install
4. restarted twice
5. installed supersu and rootchecker
6. Done.. got ROOT access.
Can anyone please please suggest me how to get deleted files from my LG G2. I deleted 2 files to save memory and later realized that I need that files and it contained my important data.
Please please..

FYI, I got TWRP with this download: https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=23329332407585979
non-AT&T users should select the correct file from http://kevinwithtech.blogspot.com/2014/09/how-to-make-lg-g2-look-like-lg-g3.html
So, I have a D80020y unrooted. First I must use Stumproot to get root, and then use Autorec to install TWRP, right?
Also, can anyone explain me if I can use LG Flash Tool on D80020y? Can I use it without root?
Finally!

You are the effing man!
I completely messed up my wife's new LG G2 by flashing the wrong recovery image through TWRP (like an idiot). My immediate inability to get into recovery mode led me down a rabbit hole filled with failed solutions... each one compounding the problem more and more until it all snowballed into a situation where the 'Settings' function in Android stopped working altogether, I had no recovery, and download mode froze every time I attempted to use it. Despite all this, somehow my computer still recognized the phone as a media device >> All I had left was the ability to drag and drop files into the internal storage.
... and then I came across this magnificent link to AutoRec that you posted and flashed the proper version of TWRP onto the phone effortlessly. I downloaded it, launched it through File Manager, dropped the CloudyG2 Rom onto the SD card, and installed that S.O.B. with ease. THE PHONE WORKS LIKE AN ABSOLUTE CHAMP NOW. Flawless.
I never... NEVER post on forums, but I made this account specifically to tell you "Thank you!". That tiny little link solved countless hours of mind bending stress (and quite possibly saved my marriage) in mere minutes. Cheers buddy! PM me if you get the chance. I want to give you a shout out on my podcast this week.
What is the download link for stumproot?

Sorry folks for bringing up an old post but i need some serious opinion on this one;
-Couple of months ago when there was a deal on eBay when AT&T LG G2 32GB went on sale like real cheap, I've purchased one for myself. Ever since than its been rock solid n performed well on daily tasks. pretty much handles everything i through at it.
-For the last few days i've been going through serious Battery Drain because of Android OS(Kernel), Pics i've attached, kindly check for brief idea about what i'm been through.
-No intention of Rooting it, though I'm aware of rooting devices in the past. But If anyone has encountered such issue and found a way out, i'll be happy. I just don't want to Root my device. That's what the main purpose of this post.
-I've done factory reset once 2 days ago but ratio to Screen On Time to Android OS is always like 1:2, you may check on attachment.
-There's no such app could cause Battery drain, Bcos i've been using the same apps for over a month n never encountered such in the past Or any of other devices.
-If Rooting is the last option then guide me the steps, If I'm doing anything wrong or not.
For the record I've d80020y build come PreInstalled, last OTA for 4.4.2 from AT&T
Steps:
-Fully Charged > Unplug it > Under Settings > Turned on USB Debugging while tapping 7 times on Build number.
-Mark on Unknown application Under Security.
-Insatll Stump Root v1.2 .apk
-Hit Grind > If Message pop ups > choose Brute Force > Ask for Reboot > After that Install SuperSU from PlayStore.
That's all about Rooting the device. But what about Bootloader? How to Unlock the bootloader?
As i go through several thread, it redirects me onto AutoRec to flash TWRP over Stock recovery. But my concern, Does Rooting will Unlocked the bootloader on itself? Or Have to follow fastboot commands to do it.
Do i have to partitioned my device, like External or Internal, as my all previous devices had MicroSD support whereas this one is 32GB Inbuilt.

[Completed] lg g2 vs98027a verizon 4.4.2 cant update binaries

Hello everyone i am new to the forums and i am asking a question regarding updating the su binaries on my phone. I got my g2 back in november because they were out of one m7s and this was the second best phone. So i went home and figured id root it. I didnt really want a rom i just like being able to record my screen and mess with the clocks. So none of the ways to root this phone worked so i tired this one in chinese. I succesfully rooted my phon. And it installed supersu. It said i needed to update the binaries so i hit ok. It said it failed. I tried updateing them by moving the .su directly to the folder, but sense i dont even have root permissions because i dint have a .su, it was unsuccessful. So what are my options? Im only 14 and kinda new at rooting, i have done it on two phones before, so please keep it simple. I dont care about keeping my data so i can i flash a stock rom? I. Tried it before but the method was for the 16 gig version which used a kdz file and sense i have a 32 gig version i needed a different file for some reason. In my phone settings it says im rooted and in recovery mode it o whatever pressing vol down and power with a usb connected do does, it says so to. I do NOT have access and i cant figure out how to update the .su and i could really use some help. Could you give me a link or something showing me how to flash a stock rom, or cyanogenmod? Or just getting a way to update the .su would be fine. Sorry for the long description i just want it to be easy for you to diagnose my problem.
Thanks,
Riley

You can check this thread about root on your device: [Root] Stump Root for LG Devices (2012 - 2014) Big update 1.2.0.
And here is the SuperSu app thread: [STABLE][2015.01.20] SuperSU v2.45.
In the first post there is also a zip file for flashing in custom recovery. If you use this, you won't need the binaries updating process like after updating via Play store.
For registered users, there is more help in the root Q&A thread for your device, and for the SuperSU app update in the SuperSU support thread.
Thread closed. Thank you.

Boost Mobile LG Stylo 2? (LGLS775)

Has anyone found root for this device? I've used kingroot and it works to a certain extent but I was wondering if anyone achieved full working root. Also, has anyone unlocked the bootloader yet?
You can unlock the boot loader with the adb command "fastboot oem unlock" but first you have to enable oem under developer options
I foolishly updated to 6.0.1, if there is or soon will be root of it, I don't think i'll be getting it.
As much of an improvement this phone is over the last GSM model, it's honestly marginally so, and I feel it's googles fault.
The System takes up about 9gbs of storage, which wouldn't be a problem if any apps could be moved to the SD card, unlike in the previous version or in 6.0... no app can be moved to the SD card. Stylo's system took up 5-6gbs of the 8 given, there's a lot more space left over but I don't understand how LG managed to take up an additional 3 gbs of space between versions. There are some new features to the 2, but there's a lot of features missing from the 2... so why is the system more bnloated?
Lg Stylo 2 System Data
On my phone, there is only 5.88 GB taken up by the system as shown by 'storage' in settings. But Storage Space shows it as only 4.12 gb. I'm not sure why yours is so much more than mine but that could be because you are using Boost Mobile and I have Virgin Mobile and they have more bloatware or something? And I dumbly updated the system as well. I am not going to try and root it yet, but I probably will in the future once more people have this phone.
Attached is photos of my storage usage:

maybe put a post up in the android software and hacking [delopers only] section here http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/software-hacking im sure there has to be some developer out there that would like to get there hand on stylo 2 in exchange for developing for it. spread the word im willing to throw in $20 bucks for a root and $40 for a bootloader unlock and $20 for a custom recovery. im only able to get temp root with kingroot v.4.85 it works good i was able to remove all the bloatware put in busybox and can even soft reboot without losing root.I guess there is a tool that has already unlocked the sprint variants bootloader its called GcProKey but i looked it up this thing is like $150 though.

To both, a common method on other phones with problems losing root on reboot is to
Code:
rename or delete /system/recovery-from-boot.p
I'd recommend a simple rename to keep the file intact.
Of course to do this requires a file explorer with root, it also changes a system file, so do this at your own risk. I am curious to see if this solves the problems.

yes i did infact try that method i was able to access that file with root explorer on temp root still no luck with root on reboot, i actually had this phone for like a week and already bricked it i had to send it in to LG to get repaired i was messing around with **** and changed some permissions on system files not aware until afterwards that this could affect boot i could have fixed it if LG would be a little quicker posting there firmware for newer released devices but anyway learned my lesson i guess ill just leave the rooting to the pros. But i also read about another method i will try when i get my phone back since it already gives temp root i read that using a benchmark app such as AnTuTu running it until it gets to about 10% then opening up KingRoot and try rooting supposedly overloading the ram while trying to root has been shown to more likely root also it could take more tries then just one.

LGMS550 Stylo 2
I'm going to attempt root today on the Metro variant. I can confirm the old LG B2C App reads this phone just fine so recovery should "NOT" be a problem, ALTHOUGH the phone is not listed on the app or on LG's website when I registered it, (LGMS550). I'm Just going to make a recovery (Backup) BEFORE I try this. I will let you know. If anyone knows if TWRP has or has plans for a recovery please let me know. DO NOT TRY THIS, My phone my money so it's on me.
Stylo 2 root
So far so good.
Backup is done.
For your info:
LG drivers for Windows (I'm using Windows 10 Pro. Should not matter if your using Home edition) are the same as Stylo 1 (v 4.0.4)
I have adb and fastboot installed system wide (ADB 15 second installer). Both adb and fastboot see the device with no problems. (adb devices, fastboot devices).
reboots into bootloader with no problems. (OEM unlock and debug mode are both enabled).
both the drivers and adb installer are easily found on this site. here goes nothing.
Any updates to this before I test my Metro variant?
Any luck I just got this phone love to get root I know of a good Dev to get some nice Roms done up
No luck yet. If there were some you would see it here. If you have Devs that will do nice roms for you, see if any of them can root or build TWRP for you.
i just received my lg stylo 2 back from LG after bricking it, I dont know what they did to it besides fix it because now i cant even get temp root anymore so i would just say if there is any firmware updates do not intall them just incase. At least with temp root i could get rid of the bloat but now im stuck with it.

[Q] Anything for the Boost LG Stylo LGLS770 on 6.0?

Sorry for asking what everyone is asking, but I can't seem to find anything too specific. With all of the different models, differences between the GSM and CDMA versions, etc., I just want to be sure. I wanted to know if there was anything I could do with my Boost LG Stylo LGLS770 on 6.0? Completely stock. Could I root? (I know the temp root thread, but supposedly the method messes up your phone?) Could I install TWRP? Could I install another ROM? Could I do anything with it or is it completely locked down?
You are locked out of flashing the kernel by the new protections in MM. No mods at all. The best you can hope for is enough people figuring out how to flash back to Lollipop without tripping qfuse, and root from there. But flashing back has not been successfully reported on.
I flashed back from zv7 to zv5 using the files from herehttp://lg-firmware-rom.com/downloads/sprint-lg-ls770-stock-firmware-ls770zv5-dll-for-lg-uplg-up-for-store/.If you get stuck on the configuring phone screen, try a combination of up,down, power keys until you see the word skip with the red x.Choose skip and the desktop will appear.I rooted with kingo root pc version first. Then from download mode I installed the rooted zv5 system image. When I rebooted I uninstalled the kingo root superuser and updated the. super-su version 2.46 to 2.65.It's been running fine the last 3 days.Sorry but I'm not allowed to share zv5 tot file and dll files but take my word it works thanks to dev gary vestal from xda!

Thanks , good to know that flashing back works. Hopefully the ZV5 will be out and about for the rest of us at some point, as LG is on Stylo2+ now.
