Hello,
I am new to the forums and android in general. Anyways, I am wondering if any one could advise me on the best steps to root and update my oldish android phone. It is currently on android 2.2.1 and has no support for 2.2.3 which is why I believe I need a custom rom.. I have looked thru numerous threads and sources but have yet to find a method i fully understand and trust, as i hear it.. you guys are very helpful and i am hoping that is true cause im about to pull my hair out at this point
Thanks in advance for any help, its appreciated very much.
Its great that you are showing interest in this. (Edited out, the device is stated in title xD).
Rooting shouldn't be as hard at installing a custom ROM. Older devices are rarely supported nowadays, unless it's really popular like the HTC Wildfire or something.
The best way to root your Optimus C is by using GingerBreak. Many users that have your device use that.
Info on other useful guides (rooting, cwm,ROMs) go here - http://androidforums.com/optimus-c-all-things-root/

Thanks for taking the time to repond/help. Anyways, after some more research I think I found a easy root solution.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=13086954
This method seems both easy and very sraight forward. Could any one please confirm? Id just like a lil insight before taking the plunge. lol
Note* I would link the posts stating this does work to gain root access but i cant post outside links untill i have 10 posts on XDA.
Don't worry, the root method should work just fine.

Ok, got it rooted
The next step would be to download rom manager and make a custom recovery using clockworkmod?
Btw~ incase someone is confused in the future. The root procedure was a few simple steps.
Before doing these steps make sure usb debugging is active. Also temp disable your anti-virus as it will flag the apk as a virus, This is a false positive.
1. Download the file from the first post in the thread. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1049944. (the easy way for me "since i don't have a usb cord" was to click the QR code link on the first post and scan it with one of the many free qr scanner apps from the play store.
2. Navigate to the download and install the APK.
3. Open Gingerbreak.
4. Click "root" and wait for your device to reboot. Thats all  "if the process takes more then ten minutes reboot your device and run it again"
5. You can go ahead and uinstall/delete the apk once you have sucessfully rooted.
The next step would be to download and install the devices custom recovery.
Don't just install any, again go to that site I had provided you with earlier that have the stock and custom .imgs with steps on how to install it.

Ok so.. I have a problem, I was about to setup a custom recovery when all of a sudden Super User decided to update and now im a little lost. I have still have root acess and all of my root only apps are working perfectly fine. but every time i use a root app or reboot my phone since the SU update i get a message saying my binary files need to be updated. I try to update them and it fails every time, I have looked though a few threads and the only fix i could find was to use busybox installer. But.. busybox will not install on my device. How do i go forward with this? I don't want to mess anything up.. specially since i just thought i had it all figured out. :crying:
Nevermind, I guess i found a decent work around, I uninstalled the update and forced it to not auto update. I don't know if this is a bad practice but it seems to have solved the issue.
I like LG' phones. I am using LG P500 and very like...:good::angel:
Hi there,
I got a "certified like new" D800 from an At&t Device Support Center recently and it came with the latest OTA D80020y.
I'm trying to figure out what the most conservative way to root 20y would be.
I've looked into:
- IOroot25: Seems like it only supports up to D800 10q.
- Towelroot v3 by geohot: This post makes me think towelroot won't work with 20y (confirms that ioroot won't work either).
- Stump Root?: As I understand it's for Sprint/Verizon G3, but this post confirms that it will likely work on D80020y with a brute force method (not sure what that entails).
So stump root sounds like the only option for rooting on 20y, but does anyone know if there is any issues or risks associated with this brute force method compared with other root methods?
Is the safest way to get root for someone on 20y to simply use the LG Flash Tool and go back to older KK or JB firmware? If that is the case, which firmware is ideal for rooting?
I don't want custom recovery at this point, but I will eventually when I grow weary of the LG overlay.
Hopefully this thread will help others who find themselves on D80020y and want root privileges (or even get recovery for that matter). I think if you're planning on getting recovery and flashing a new firmware, LG Flash Tool is the way to go though. I just don't want to abandon my setup simply for root.
Thanks!
~bokonon9
im on 20y and been using Stump root since day one. Absolutely no issues for me. You brute force it, it takes 2 or 3 minutes then it asks you to reboot. reboot, install superSU then you are golden.
From 20u, I OTA updated to 20y then used Stump to root (bruteforce of course). Everything works fine since.
It works just smooth.. no hiccups at all..
Its worked like charm.. I was really hesitated to root my device as it was my first time to root to get my lost files which I accidentally deleted. I saw this post and thought of giving a try. The steps I followed are
1. Installed stump root on my device (downloaded and transferred from my mac)
2. it will ask permission to Bruteforce and select yes.
3. it takes less than a minute to install
4. restarted twice
5. installed supersu and rootchecker
6. Done.. got ROOT access.
Can anyone please please suggest me how to get deleted files from my LG G2. I deleted 2 files to save memory and later realized that I need that files and it contained my important data.
Please please..

FYI, I got TWRP with this download: https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=23329332407585979
non-AT&T users should select the correct file from http://kevinwithtech.blogspot.com/2014/09/how-to-make-lg-g2-look-like-lg-g3.html
So, I have a D80020y unrooted. First I must use Stumproot to get root, and then use Autorec to install TWRP, right?
Also, can anyone explain me if I can use LG Flash Tool on D80020y? Can I use it without root?
Finally!

You are the effing man!
I completely messed up my wife's new LG G2 by flashing the wrong recovery image through TWRP (like an idiot). My immediate inability to get into recovery mode led me down a rabbit hole filled with failed solutions... each one compounding the problem more and more until it all snowballed into a situation where the 'Settings' function in Android stopped working altogether, I had no recovery, and download mode froze every time I attempted to use it. Despite all this, somehow my computer still recognized the phone as a media device >> All I had left was the ability to drag and drop files into the internal storage.
... and then I came across this magnificent link to AutoRec that you posted and flashed the proper version of TWRP onto the phone effortlessly. I downloaded it, launched it through File Manager, dropped the CloudyG2 Rom onto the SD card, and installed that S.O.B. with ease. THE PHONE WORKS LIKE AN ABSOLUTE CHAMP NOW. Flawless.
I never... NEVER post on forums, but I made this account specifically to tell you "Thank you!". That tiny little link solved countless hours of mind bending stress (and quite possibly saved my marriage) in mere minutes. Cheers buddy! PM me if you get the chance. I want to give you a shout out on my podcast this week.
What is the download link for stumproot?

Sorry folks for bringing up an old post but i need some serious opinion on this one;
-Couple of months ago when there was a deal on eBay when AT&T LG G2 32GB went on sale like real cheap, I've purchased one for myself. Ever since than its been rock solid n performed well on daily tasks. pretty much handles everything i through at it.
-For the last few days i've been going through serious Battery Drain because of Android OS(Kernel), Pics i've attached, kindly check for brief idea about what i'm been through.
-No intention of Rooting it, though I'm aware of rooting devices in the past. But If anyone has encountered such issue and found a way out, i'll be happy. I just don't want to Root my device. That's what the main purpose of this post.
-I've done factory reset once 2 days ago but ratio to Screen On Time to Android OS is always like 1:2, you may check on attachment.
-There's no such app could cause Battery drain, Bcos i've been using the same apps for over a month n never encountered such in the past Or any of other devices.
-If Rooting is the last option then guide me the steps, If I'm doing anything wrong or not.
For the record I've d80020y build come PreInstalled, last OTA for 4.4.2 from AT&T
Steps:
-Fully Charged > Unplug it > Under Settings > Turned on USB Debugging while tapping 7 times on Build number.
-Mark on Unknown application Under Security.
-Insatll Stump Root v1.2 .apk
-Hit Grind > If Message pop ups > choose Brute Force > Ask for Reboot > After that Install SuperSU from PlayStore.
That's all about Rooting the device. But what about Bootloader? How to Unlock the bootloader?
As i go through several thread, it redirects me onto AutoRec to flash TWRP over Stock recovery. But my concern, Does Rooting will Unlocked the bootloader on itself? Or Have to follow fastboot commands to do it.
Do i have to partitioned my device, like External or Internal, as my all previous devices had MicroSD support whereas this one is 32GB Inbuilt.

Kingroot worked for me (on version d80020y)
LG one click root 1.3 worked for me on Lolllipop 30f
For the past two days, I've been constantly struggling to find a way to update my phone to android 5.0. When trying to download the OTA update, it will download fine, but once it goes to install and reboot, it will stop halfway through and the same screen you see when you enter what i believe is called bootloader mode. On this screen i see clockworkmod and other words such as error which really confuses me because i do not believe I ever worked with that. Ill then be met by a message asking if i want to trust the untrusted zip to install. Upon clicking no, the phone will either reboot normally or go to another screen, where the android icon is now on his back with a red triangle above him and ill be asked if i would like to keep root access. Choosing either yes or no will result in the phone booting normally. If i click yes when asked if i want to download the untrusted zip, the result will be the same except the android will not get the red triangle. After being asked if i would like to keep root access, choosing either option will just reboot the phone.
Ive spent countless hours searching the web for solutions, and on the phone with google. I tried to flash a new image but I lack the skill and knowledge, to do this. My method of root was towerroot which i realize now was a mistake, because here i am with no knowledge on what ive actually done and no knowledge on how to fix it. I did not install a custom rom. So far, ive tried a factory reset, flashing a factory image (unsuccessful), using supersu to unroot my device, and deleting all root files in ex file explorer. I'm using windows if that helps.
The biggest kicker here now is that my phone tells me that i do not have root access any longer if i download a root checker, but when trying to install the update it asks me if i would like to keep root access. I also still have custom navigation keys stuck on my phone from the "softkeyz" app. As far as i know, there are no other traces of root on my device. I have almost no knowledge on how android os functions and am unfamiliar with terms I've been met with recently such as "custom image" "bootloader" "apk" "sdk" etc.
I completely understand that being this uninformed and rooting was a mistake, but what is done is done. If anybody has any idea at all on what i need to do to be able to update to lollipop please let me know. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated as well. I may have left out key imformation but i've included all i can think of. If any other information is needed i can likely provide it.
1) you must be fully stock to accept OTA
2) various methods to update to and root lollipop are in my signature
3) this is the problem with one-click root methods. People don't get to learn what they need to know.
Please read my adb and fastboot thread. Again, you can get to it via my signature. Its in sticky roll-up

Upgrading to 5.0
Though you don't know it, you most likely just dodged a bullet. 5.0 is not yet ready for prime time, or visa versa. Puzzle and Dragons can't launch under it (and probably won't for months.) My bank's app likewise won't launch under 5.0, and there are other impositions and quirks and annoyances. So maybe better that you couldn't do so.
I just put mine back to 4.4 and am very glad to have my old friend back. Installing 5.0 reminded me of installing Windows 8, and then wondering why the F*** I did so.
Good luck... enjoy 4.4 as long as possible. If you're not up for fixing the root issue you just described, you're also not ready for putting the phone back to 4.4 if, like me, you find 5.0 intolerable.

I have the EXACT same problem as you. I rooted my phone with towel root, then i flashed a custom recovery with an app called flashify. after that i flashed the proper supersu.zip file with the custom recovery. Next i rebooted my phone. I used an app called root checker to see if my root was working, and it was. Then i flashed my custom recovery back on. I tried updating my phone with the OTA Android 5, it was updating until around 25% once it hit that stage it just said error. Then i un rooted my phone and tried it again i got the same error. I did a factory reset and tried it again but i got the same result? i dont know why this is happening i need help!

Hello rootSU, you seem pretty experienced when it comes to stuff like flashing custom roms and rooting... My nexus 5 is on stock android 4.4.4, i have the stock recovery,i never flashed a rom....
When i try to use the OTA update and update to android 5.0 it always says error when its flashing. When the notification pops up i click it, then i click the button to start the download. once its downloaded and verified i click install. It takes me to my recovery and shows the android flashing logo thing and it says updating, when the progress bar reaches to 25% give or take a few percent an android logo pops up with a warning sign and it says error. I've tried multiple times and i got the same result. I even factory reseted my nexus and it still didn't work. Help ASAP please.

Did you ever remove any of the system apps? If you did, you will need to put them back or you will get an error with the OTA.

Okay, like i said in one of my previous posts i had the same problem as you. But i looked around and found out how to fix it. The new android OTA update checks if every single file and system app is there, if u make any changes you cant use the OTA lolipop update. To fix this you have to flash a factory image. Flashing the factory image maks your nexus have a stock android rom on it. The instructions are really easy...
https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images
^^go on this website^^ and look for the android 4.4.4 or 5.0 factory image. There are instructions on how to flash it.
Hello Cyberusman. This isn't new in Android. Even in past versions of Android, if you removed or renamed apps or if you changed app permissions, the OTA would fail. Flashing the factory image is one way of fixing it but you could also put any removed apps back with correct permissions and that would work as well.
I am working in China, I have just bought a Samsung Galaxy A8. How can I root it?
I have tried Kingoroot without success. I tried a few other one-click root PC apps, they all can't do it.
Let me just say I'm what you guys might call a noob, I don't really understand this stuff yet.
I mainly want to root the phone so I can install Google Play, Android phones in China are not set up for it unless you root the phone and configure it yourself.
I'm dead keen to do this, as it annoys me greatly that I bought a phone and am seemingly denied the regular usage of that phone.
So in my research I also heard about a thing called Odin which you can use to install a new rom on a Samsung phone. And I came across a Chinese website which gave info on a rom you can install on an A8 which after installation means the phone is rooted. I got Odin and the rom now but I'm clueless what to do next really.
I'm thinking the phone has to be rooted to use Odin on it anyway, am I right? And if I do install the rom, it will wipe the phone right? Lose all the data and apps I've installed on it, right? I don't want that to happen, is there a mway to secure the data, put it all back just the way it was beforer the 'rooted rom' is installed?
Like I said I'm clueless really, but I'm trying to proceed cautiously, I'd be grateful for any advice.
I think that I'm going to have the same problem next week, when I get my new Samsung Galaxy A8
Have you tried methods from this page?

No you haven't helped at all to be honest, your post seems like spam.
None of these automatic one-click root programs can currently root the Samsung A8, if you had read above you would see I've already tried most of them, the best of them actually, KIngoroot, Framaroot, KIngroot, all ineffective. So you honestly think your little app can do it?
Is there anyone out there with real help to offer?

I am in a similar situation to you. I used Odin and the SpaceX A800F firmware however all goes fine until the writing of the new firmware begins. The log prints out the write has failed and then I am presented with a mandarin screen saying the device is locked out and I need to visit samsung.com/cn. I can reset the device and use as normal.
My quest to crack this continue and will let you know if I succeeded. 加油!
Having the same Issue
My phone died on me and I had to run out to get a new one. I forgot China has restrictive programs and custom OS to block anything they don't want.
I am trying to root the phone and hitting walls. I might to take to a shop and do it.
can i flash polish language to A8 ?
Disable android device manager in device administrator tab and go to download mode then flash spacex kernel. (Disabling will remove frp lock) I tried it's worked on my a800f

bro i have root file for Samsung A8 A800YZ and i have rooted my phone. if some one need the file, i need some donation before i can send the file. its easy to use, just flash it using odin. thanks.
So I finally managed to root A800F 6.0.1 thanks to @rs1981
Link for TWRP: http://www.4shared.com/get/oUigxM-6ba/TWRP_302-0.html
Downloaded supersu from:
1. Make sure usb debugging is on and oem unlock is on
2. copy supersu file into phone
3. Turn off phone and go into download mode (vol down+home+power)
4. Connect to pc and flash TWRP file via odine (make sure you untick autoreboot)
5. When flash passes unplug phone and hold (vol down+home+power) immediately once the screen turns black switch to (vol up+home+power) even if you see the red error keep holding and TWRP will open
6. Flash the Supersu file that you copied from TWRP and wipe delvik cache then reboot to system
Supersu should be installed and you should have root.
Thanks again @rs1981
Been trying to root A8 all day with no luck... It took me 10 mins using this method
all old methods are not working with latest firmware. follow this guide - https://forum.xda-developers.com/sa...-samsung-galaxy-a8-a800f-a800i-6-0-1-t3529327

ok so i used this link to root my phone with king root http://techbeasts.com/root-galaxy-express-3-j120a/
Required downloads:
Download and install Samsung USB drivers
Download and extract Odin 3.11.1 on your computer’s desktop
Download boot image for your phone: ENG_BOOT_J120A_PG1
Download KingRoot and Super SUME APK files. Extract the folder and copy the APKs to your phone’s internal storage.
How to flash boot image to make the phone root-able
Open Odin.exe from the extracted Odin files you downloaded on your computer’s desktop.
In Odin, click the “AP” tab in Odin and select the ENG_BOOT_J120A_PC1.tar for your device that you just downloaded above.
The only options checked in Odin should be Auto Reboot and F.Reset Time. No other options should be ticked.
Now put your phone in download mode. Turn it off first. Now press and hold Volume Down + Home + Power buttons. As soon as it boots up, leave the keys. Once it shows warning, press Volume Up to continue.
Connect your phone to your PC while Odin is open.
Once your the ID:COM box turns blue in Odin after the successful connection, click the Start button.
It will flash the boot image file and reboot the phone now.
Install Kingroot
Now on your phone, go to settings > security > allow unknown sources.
Open a file manager and locate the copied Kingroot APK file.
Tap the Kingroot APK file and install it.
Once installed, open Kingroot from the app drawer.
Tap the Android Icon on the screen shown in Kingroot or if it’s already processing, let it do that.
Kingroot will start finding an exploit to root your device now. As soon as it finds an exploit, it will root and reboot your device.
Replace King User with SuperSU
Install Super SUME APK just the way you installed Kingroot.
Open Super SUME from the App Drawer now.
Follow the instructions on-screen to finish the Super SUME procedure.
Super SUME will begin to uninstall Kingroot in favour of SuperSU now.
After uninstalling KingRoot it will install SuperSU.
SuperSU will appear in app drawer after installion. That’s all.
NOTE: sometimes when u flash the ENG_BOOT_J120A_PG1 file to get root with king root it wont work try rebooting trying again or flashing file again with odin i had to flash 3 times in some cases.
READ ALL BEFORE TRYING ROOT IMPORTANT!
and after i got king root to root my phone through this method i had to downlaod a different copy of supersu me pro from i think this link https://apkpure.com/super-sume/darkslide.com.supersume if its not the right one then just google a pro copy apk but yea so once super user is done with king root and u have a copy of supersu me pro that works just run it u may have to do it a few times and it may act funny or seem to pause half way through the root process but if it dose (like it did on mine) just have supersu app installed and run it while supersu me pro is running and it should install sucessfully keep trying till it dose thats what i did oh btw when u get super user with king root download link to sd and freeze all these apps ok (scrole down)

and keep runing supersu me pro and supersu me untill it installes root succesfully that worked for me
also i JUST got viper4android to work with samsung galaxy express 3 btw fallow the guide in this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nFqbz8Ytjx0 and download the files from the mega link in description of video.
and now i have supersu and viper4android NOTE: be sure to have installed bussybox before trying to install viper its needed i got my bussybox from fdroid.
also if u want to get xposed modules working download an app called flashfire i think 0.53 is the latest once u have root with supersu and download and install xposed framework wanam 20161128 and flash the zip with flash fire and a side note the newest copy of gltools also works with driver support i havent had a single problem with gltools. if ur system ui crashes after boot eather keep rebooting untill it stops crashing or unsinstall an app u may think caused the issue or unfreeze an app that may be causeing it dont freeze apps unless u think its safe do it at ur own risk and freeze only apps i have found to be frozen with little to no problems. as far as xposed modules go lucky patcher installs but dosent work right due to not being on a custom rom and device id changer free works fine and xinternal sd works great and xprivacy works great and android n ify works great also gravity box for 6.0 marshmallow works fine but i only used it to make volume buttons switch tracks and for a battery bar i recomend not useing it for anything else as it has caused my phone to freeze and crash and bootloop so if u want a battery bar and to change tracks on lock screen use gravity box if u dont need those things then dont use it at all or at ur own risk.
so now u have viper and xposed and supersu enjoy it has been a pain in my ass for a long time so have fun. NOTE: there is no custom recovery for this phone sometimes when u flash these files the phone will bootloop but TRUST ME if it boot loops take the battery out and turn it back on untill it turns on sometimes doing this will force the phone to clear dalvic catch i think because it upgrades all the android apps again so keep removing the battery if it dosent work after about 20 tries the reflash ur stock rom with odin just download a stock rom from google for this device and flash all files ap=ap etc... hope this all helps
Thanks for the reply back! I had originally followed those directions from that site and it didn't work the first time. I kept trying different versions of Kingroot and Super SU ME with no luck, then I decided to try Kingroot 4.1 and a zip file that when extracted and ran from terminal is supposed to replace Kingroot with Super SU. It only partially worked that being when an app asked for root it was Super SU asking the permissions. I thought I was in the clear then so I tried to let the Super SU app update the binary, but it failed. So I downloaded Flashfire and flashed Super SU zip and it worked and I thought I was hot sh*t until it rebooted lol. When it rebooted it gave me the "Unauthorized software found on this device. Please take it to an ATT dealer blah blah blah". So I downloaded factory firmware and tried again only this time before I used Flashfire to flash the Super SU zip I went and deleted all the Knox crap and most of the other stuff in your list above and it worked that time lol. I already have Xposed and a bunch of other root apps on there working pretty well so far. It's a neat little phone for a cheapy. I have an S6 as a daily driver but I like toying with the Galaxy Express 3 when I can. My driving reason behind wanting to root it is because the Wi-Fi chip inside is a brcm43438 which supports monitor mode, sorta. The Raspberry Pi 3 has the same chip and can be used with pentesting tools and since it runs on android also, I hoped to find a way to port the patched firmware to this phone. But for now it gives me something else to tinker with lol. Thanks again for the long reply, I know someone out there can maybe use our methods or a combination thereof to get this phone rooted when it wants to be difficult!

Yea, you're going to find people like that anywhere you go. Don't let it discourage you from this place. Yes, searching first is one of the rules, but sometimes you just can't find what you are looking for! There are a lot of great and very knowledgeable folks on this site. It's where I come to look up pretty much anything I can't figure out on my own. And I come to contribute when I can.

Dead links
Great write up! dead links and a ? about J120AUCS3AQE1
Hi and thanks for the great write up, very clear. My device is a SM-J120A that sports the AT&T logo upon boot.
Have you or any one tried this method with the OTA update that [I think AT&T] pushed on May 1, '17 labeled J120AUCS3AQE1. I have soft bricked device several times trying to use PJ2 and cant find PC2 [above posted links do not work]. One other thing about the AQE1 update I was only able to get it to install by 25%, my Baseband version changed to J120AUCS3AQE1, but the security patch level has remained at Oct. 1 '16 anf the Build number is at MMB29K.J120AUCU2APJ2. Not sure what is up w/that! If any one has a link to the full "4 file" zip of J120AUCS3AQE1 I would greatly appreciate it.
Root successful...........but
I was able to root with firmware version J120AUCS3AQE1 but because mine is an AT&T phone the bootloader is "locked and signed" meaning it's never going to unlock........? I have the latest version of firmware that came out in may 2017 and it will be available to you as soon as I can post an outside web address............ Every Recovery image that I flashed caused everything to fail and a big triangle that said AT&T detected software on your device that is not allowed on our device so I guess this one is never really your own........ but you can Root with Kingroot and supersume pro to get rid of bloatware and such but other than that no custom stuff on this one.
If Kingroot keeps freezing just restart phone and keep trying it took me a long while to obtain root.
Thanks for the Rooting Guide. I found an img file online for a TWRP Recovery for Samsung Galaxy J1, but with the same Build Number (SM - J120A).
1. Should I trust it?
2. If not, is there an exploit for it already?
Really hope someone can help me. Also, Is anyone else loosing wifi connection constantly after rooting?
Cheers,
Express 3 user
Anybody can you please send stock TouchWiz here???
I really need this APK....
NEED HELP!! i made a lot of progress but simple mistakes have me stuck..
I need some help from youi guys, idk igf im just missing something or thinking too much but im stuck somewhere simple because of a silly mistake.... lol -- heres the bkgrnd story: after using the ENG_BOOT and kingroot, i was unable to get supersume to work. in my quest to do so, I ended up with xposed framework installed and working as well as some more apps n tools... well anyway==here's the curveball (#1 - lol) - i edited some fields in buildprop and applied some tweaks - i did an original backup but was unable to find it.. due to the words and windows on my screen being resized (smaller windows larger text, unable to see entire text field and unable to move within individual framed windows li(ke on microsofts launcher homescreen) - so i edited buildprop one more time.... i changed the density and it zoomed in further - double bad move. heres the next one lol - upon reboot into custom android recovery from eng boot - i accidentally wiped/reset phone instead of the dang cache partition. so - now - it reboots, to the WELCOME! ^(language select, accessibility select) START screeb for first time setup. i cannot for the life of me get it to move a window or hope to select AGREE since its "rendered offscreen" on the terms and conditions. unable to use adb, unable to update from ext storage per recovery's settings apparently..
i am however able to use serial com connection and terminal (on bbqlinux) to do a few things and even remotely open shell - idk what i did to buildprop to fubar my screen render, and even after mounting system in recovery i have not been able to push/pull buildprop or edit again, nor usual adb - im frustrated and stopped finally because i know im missing something simple as hell.. #2 ready for the knuckleball? i was able to get TWRP to flash successfully to my phone with ODIN by clicking AP and using nand erase all, repartition and f, reset time - rebooted phone into recovery and its still the eng_boot one. so i cleared cache part mounted system rebooted, then off and reboot to recovery --still no TWRP either.
i would love a copy of a good buildprop file compatible with the engboot and a little help with the buildprop replacement in the given situation lol, TWRP would be a plus - i greatly appreciate your time and help guys and i apologize if i have posted in the wrong thread or something else that is uncooth - its my very first post but im a long time reader and follower as well as an intermediate developer., thank you for your time everyone. this thread is regarding sansung sm-j120a ud with the engboot build. att go phone, no frp lock, secure download is enabled in download mode tho.. -- usb connection to win 8.1 with android studio poison kitchen etc etc - also have bbq linux
