I must have created a VPN but forgotten the password. Now pressing VPN refuses to let me past the password entry screen. I have no ability to delete the VPN or modify the parameters.

My workplace has wifi secured with 802.1x. It requires username and password to log in. But when I select that wifi, I only get a pop up windows for password. There is no place for me to input username.
I then tried to add it manually. I put SSID and security (enterprise 802.1x) and it immediately asks for password. I don't have the option to choose EAP or else.
What am I missing?
Solved... that password is my own purpose (to store all the info on the phone)... So I just set up a password and now I get to the next step to choose security methods...
Sorry to bother everyone...

Hi...!!! May be there is some problem with your setup. I had also faced such problem. Here i will guide you with a simple configuration sets for HTC VPN
Add a new VPN connection:
Step # 1:
- Tap the Home icon, tap Menu, and tap Settings.
- Tap Wireless & networks.
Step # 2: Tap VPN settings
Step # 3: Tap Add VPN
Step # 4:
-Select the type of VPN to add (PPTP, L2TP, L2TP/IPSec PSK VPN, L2TP/IPsec CRT VP)
Step # 5:
- Enter VPN details such as VPN name, VPN server, etc
(The said settings will depend on the type of VPN protocol and the respective VPN Service you want to setup on your device)
Let’s Try L2TP VPN Details:
VPN Name: Name it whatever you want, e.g. VPN 1
VPN Server: IP Address or Address would be given to your by your VPN Provider or Network Admin.
L2TP Secret: It will be given by you VPN Service Provider or Admin. It’s secret security key to ensure that we are connecting to the right mobile device and server.
Leave DNS Search Domains as it is. Save the settings and move back to home screen.
Connecting to the VPN:
- Tap the Home icon, tap Menu, and tap Settings.
- Tap Wireless & networks
- Tap VPN settings
- The VPN connections which you have just added will be displayed.
- Tap the VPN through which you want to connect.
- A dialog box will open asking for your credentials, put in the details and tap again.
- When connected to a VPN, you will see an ongoing notification in the Status bar on your phone. If you should get disconnected, you will receive a notification and an option to go back to the VPN settings.
Disconnecting from the VPN:
Simply open the notification panel at the top of the screen on your phone and tap on the VPN notification then tap again to disconnect.

I apologize for reaching you a bit late...
Actually i had also faced such kind of problem then i configure it somehow.
And i am pretty much sure that you are either entering wrong user name, password or server name. I mentioned server name / address because it is the main problem which user facing at the time of setting up the vpn on their devices. So kindly try to configure it again with the correct details or you must contact t the concern VPN Provider regarding the same.
same problem
Hello,
I have same problem on MY HD2 with CM rom. Lot of tries but with same result.
I am able to connect, receive IP from pptp server and also I can ping routers LAN IP. But that's all. I am not able to ping other address from LAN. My Vpn setting on hd2 always shows "connecting" and connection crash after 10 sec. I thought it is problem on my router, but maybe not. Behaves it similarly for you?
Hello,
I have fixed permissions to /etc/ppp/ip-up-vpn to 777 and vpn pptp works perfect for me

WiFi Key Recovery lists all the passwords for WiFi networks you have stored on your device. Android lets you change the stored passwords for WiFi networks via the Wireless & Networks settings on the main Android menu, but you can't view the currently saved passwords. This is a pity, especially if you've forgotten a password and want to connect to the same network with another computer or device.
After you open the app, it lists the info for each stored WiFi network. You'll see the SSID, PSK or WEP key, and the security or algorithm type. It also lists login credentials for enterprise networks and you can export a text file of the details to your SD card or even share it.
Needs rooted devices for this APP
Get it from google play as well.

Guys, JB had this problem of being unable to connect to corporate networks with peap authentication. There are some fixes available for other devices. Couldnt find one for one x till a few days back. Any update on the fix for this issue? Thanks.

You haven't mentioned the steps you took to correct the issue, but I have been dealing with this in the past as the go-to android tech at my university.
I think the key is to create a new network with the proper settings in the wireless networks settings tab. Using an existing SSID never worked for me. In the image below, the "athens" wireless network already existed, but I removed it from my wireless networks and created a new network with the correct settings with the the exact same SSID.
I also made sure that I had a security pattern set, which allows the use of encrypted passwords (I am sure an unlock password or pin will work as well).
FYI, the account in the picture no longer exists, so I didn't bother blanking it.
Hopefully this helps...

I've tried OpenVPN for Android using Private Internet Access's profiles and nothing works. It cannot connect. Why?
I use this and works.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tigervpns.android
And my friend tell me Tunnel Bear is working too. You must check one by one VPN app on Play Store. I assume in lollipop there's some restrictions about VPN.
I tested PPTP and worked perfectly fine for me.

this worked for me m8 :good:
https://www.privateinternetaccess.com/forum/discussion/4377/android-app-doesn-t-work-under-lollipop
uninstall previous version then install this Beta.
I setup my Private Internet Access using the native VPN settnigs in Lollipop.
First you need to have a Screen lock setup under Settings -> Security. Pattern, PIN or Password will all work. Next you can setup your VPN.
Settings -> ...More -> VPN
Click the "+" button to add your VPN service, the complete the fields as follows:
Name: whateveryouwant
Type: L2TP/IPSec PSK
Server address: [serverlocation].privateinternetaccess.com
IPSec pre-shared key: mysafety
Everything else can be left blank.
Then you can select your VPN server and it will ask you for your log in and password and then connect. I setup one fro every location that PIA offers.
same here
