I've tried OpenVPN for Android using Private Internet Access's profiles and nothing works. It cannot connect. Why?
I use this and works.

And my friend tell me Tunnel Bear is working too. You must check one by one VPN app on Play Store. I assume in lollipop there's some restrictions about VPN.
I tested PPTP and worked perfectly fine for me.

this worked for me m8 :good:
https://www.privateinternetaccess.com/forum/discussion/4377/android-app-doesn-t-work-under-lollipop
uninstall previous version then install this Beta.
I setup my Private Internet Access using the native VPN settnigs in Lollipop.
First you need to have a Screen lock setup under Settings -> Security. Pattern, PIN or Password will all work. Next you can setup your VPN.
Settings -> ...More -> VPN
Click the "+" button to add your VPN service, the complete the fields as follows:
Name: whateveryouwant
Type: L2TP/IPSec PSK
Server address: [serverlocation].privateinternetaccess.com
IPSec pre-shared key: mysafety
Everything else can be left blank.
Then you can select your VPN server and it will ask you for your log in and password and then connect. I setup one fro every location that PIA offers.

I need some assistance on setting up VPN access to my corporate network on my X 7510. I am technologically barely savvy. I am a business user of my X 7510.
Can someone please help me in configuring my device to access my corporate VPN?
The following describes my attempts to configure the VPN settings using the standard VPN configuration available on the device:
I am using the settings given by my network team. We are using a pre-shared key and no certificates. Our corporate VPN uses CISCO ASA 5520. When I setup the VPN there is an "Advanced" option that asks for certain server IP addresses. Our network team says that this need not be used.
I am trying to connect over a GPRS network. The most frustrating part is that the IT Manager uses an iPhone and he downloaded a VPN client for 9 dollars from the Apple Store and it works beautifully !!!
But I am not able to connect and I get an error message that says that there is a problem with my user name and password. The message asks me to turn off and turn on my device to see if that fixes my problem. But it does not.
I have triple checked all the setting details with our network team and all the data are correct. My network team can monitor connection attempts and they say that they are not even able to see any connection atempts from my device.
Can somone please help me?
I Think it depends on the rom you use. If that vpn package is there.
I also have a problem with my VPN on x7510. I think I get all the settings right because it says I am connected to my corporate network. Our network administrator from the network monitoring desk actually sees me connected. But I cannot access any application on the network, not even my company's intranet homepage.
Another irritating part is that when I fire up any application that requires internet access but not VPN - like Nimbuzz, the VPN starts to connect through GPRS - very annoying. So I have now set up the VPN to disallow internet access.
rsawoseyin
Can you please share how u have setup the VPN? I am not even able to connect.
Isn't there anybody else here who can assist?
My roms have vpn capabilities, if you go to connection at the bottom it has "set up vpn" (or something like that)

So it seems to me that this is a problem on ALL Android devices that I have tested with. Here's the situation
I have a router in my house in which I have DHCP turned off so my device will grab an IP (Not Static) and DNS from the ISP. I need to find a way to be able to just change the DNS Settings to 208.67.222.222 and 208.67.220.220 on android without having to manually put in an IP since the IP will automatically get changed every few day's.
Android doesn't seem to let me do that. Does anyone know how? Going into the Advance Menu in the Wifi settings and changing the dns does not actually change anything... I noticed this on the following android devices as well: Moto Cliq, MyTouch 3g, old Kaiser running android on NAND, and my Rhodium Devices running android.
Any reason as to why Android isn't updating my DNS Settings? Any help would be appreciated.

Ok so DHCP is assigning your network config, but you want to use different DNS servers than the DHCP allocated ones?

On my HTC Hero running an Android 2.1 ROM, unless "Static IP" is selected, I dont even get the option to change the DNS servers (option is greyed-out).
One way to manually change DNS is via shell if you have root access on your phone using ADB shell (or ssh, telnet etc if your ROM supports them), see this thread [Q] Help! Changing DNS settings .
Any network config tools on the app store?

I'm confused by your question. If you have DHCP turned off your device's are not going to grab an IP address from your router. Why don't you turn on DHCP and let your router assign IP addresses. As doing so your devices will also use the DNS setting from the router which will be your ISP's DNS ip address. Unless you change your DNS settings in your router to one of the many public DNS servers available. My recommendation is turn DHCP to "ON" on your router. Maybe start your DHCP IP assignment at 192.168.1.100 and go up to 150. That way you can use the range from .2 to .99 for static IP's. This is how I configured my router but I'm also using DD-WRT firmware on my router which highly customizes the router. Alternately you can change your routers DNS ip setting to Open DNS server so there would be no need for you to change it on the phone if you are using WIFI. Just let your router do all that work for you. Hope this helps. Viva Santiago Rep Dom y NYC.

Hi...!!! May be there is some problem with your setup. I had also faced such problem. Here i will guide you with a simple configuration sets for HTC VPN
Add a new VPN connection:
Step # 1:
- Tap the Home icon, tap Menu, and tap Settings.
- Tap Wireless & networks.
Step # 2: Tap VPN settings
Step # 3: Tap Add VPN
Step # 4:
-Select the type of VPN to add (PPTP, L2TP, L2TP/IPSec PSK VPN, L2TP/IPsec CRT VP)
Step # 5:
- Enter VPN details such as VPN name, VPN server, etc
(The said settings will depend on the type of VPN protocol and the respective VPN Service you want to setup on your device)
Let’s Try L2TP VPN Details:
VPN Name: Name it whatever you want, e.g. VPN 1
VPN Server: IP Address or Address would be given to your by your VPN Provider or Network Admin.
L2TP Secret: It will be given by you VPN Service Provider or Admin. It’s secret security key to ensure that we are connecting to the right mobile device and server.
Leave DNS Search Domains as it is. Save the settings and move back to home screen.
Connecting to the VPN:
- Tap the Home icon, tap Menu, and tap Settings.
- Tap Wireless & networks
- Tap VPN settings
- The VPN connections which you have just added will be displayed.
- Tap the VPN through which you want to connect.
- A dialog box will open asking for your credentials, put in the details and tap again.
- When connected to a VPN, you will see an ongoing notification in the Status bar on your phone. If you should get disconnected, you will receive a notification and an option to go back to the VPN settings.
Disconnecting from the VPN:
Simply open the notification panel at the top of the screen on your phone and tap on the VPN notification then tap again to disconnect.

I apologize for reaching you a bit late...
Actually i had also faced such kind of problem then i configure it somehow.
And i am pretty much sure that you are either entering wrong user name, password or server name. I mentioned server name / address because it is the main problem which user facing at the time of setting up the vpn on their devices. So kindly try to configure it again with the correct details or you must contact t the concern VPN Provider regarding the same.
same problem
Hello,
I have same problem on MY HD2 with CM rom. Lot of tries but with same result.
I am able to connect, receive IP from pptp server and also I can ping routers LAN IP. But that's all. I am not able to ping other address from LAN. My Vpn setting on hd2 always shows "connecting" and connection crash after 10 sec. I thought it is problem on my router, but maybe not. Behaves it similarly for you?
Hello,
I have fixed permissions to /etc/ppp/ip-up-vpn to 777 and vpn pptp works perfect for me
Sent from my HD2 using XDA App
Hi
I had wifi in my office where we could use net without any problem, now proxy server has been set up. I know all the settings but cant figure out how to enter IP Address in my HD7 (Mango) manually to start browsing.
e.g. the proxy server IP is: 192.168.0.1
Now I need to give an IP to the phone myself, say: 192.168.0.69
But the phone is automatically giving itself IP: 192.168.1.xx
This is very annoying as I am unable to sync my mail in the office.
Any help will be highly appreciated
You can edit the WiFi network settings for the particular network, by tapping and holding on it.

Only the server etc. can be edited when proxy is turned on, there is no way to edit my HD7's own IP address
Can anyone change the DNS of the WiFi on android 12 (31.0810.1226.91)?
I use static IP to change the DNS of a particular WiFi.
However, it keeps append the google DNS (8.8.8.8) no matter what i do.
FYI, i am using pihole, so it just keeps bypassing my pihole and direct all traffics to 8.8.8.8.
Is this a bug or just i missed some settings?
I have tried the following:
1. factory reset
2. reset wifi, mobile data settings
3. turn off private DNS settings.
and none of the above mentioned works...
Any help is appreciated. Thanks!
Hello, I was able to change the DNS without problem. Open Settings, networks and internet, and then Private DNS, select the "Private DNS Provider Hostname"

But I am using pihole which is just an IP address and no hostname. So I can't use that setting
Put ip adres as hostname in correct format

I tried that and it doesnt allow me to save the settings...
If you have rooted, add a custom hosts entry with a name that points to your pihole router and then try. Can do that with AdAway.
