Hello,
My father bought Xperia Z5 about a week ago.
Sometimes phone screen just goes black and the phone becomes unresponsive, nothing works except notification LED. It can even happen in mid call.
The only solution to fix this is to restart the phone using volume up + power button. When the phone is restarted, battery stats shows no data while the phone was frozen and it drains the battery much faster.
It has already happend twice in 7 days.
Does anyone else face the same issue?
Any reccomendations on what should I do ? Or should I just send the phone to warranty?
Thanks.
do a software repair with sony pc companion and report back
Ok I did the repair
2 days so far so good but im not 100% confident that it's gone. I'll reply if it occurs again
Sorry for reviving and old post. I guess the OPs issue as resolved by the companion repair?
I had this issue with my Z5 and non of the steps suggested (here or by Sony) worked - reset factory defaults, sony companion repair etc. I even waited for the 6.0 update to fix it and it made it worse . I sent my phone to Sony for repair, they said it was the screen which was replaced (at my expense) and when it came back it froze on the first charge .
Just got off the phone with Sony support and they said the most common cause of this issue is incompatible SD cards (or incompatible data on SD cards). Not sure I am convinced but thought I would mention it as I never saw this mentioned when googling this issue before!
Will post back if the issue reoccurs after reformatting my SD card (it had been used on a previous phone).
==Update==
Well that didn't take long. The phone crashed (within 3 hours) even without an SD card...
Wait a minute - Sony says the cause of the problem is the screen and makes you pay for the replacement???
Ever figure out what the problem was?

No, I've had to send it back to Sony multiple times with no fix. Now they have agreed to replace the handset and send me a new one in hopes it will fix the issue - here's hoping it's hardware, not a software issue.
And yes, Sony made me pay for a replacement screen, even though the screen wasn't the issue (it had a line of dying pixels, so wasn't 100%, but shouldn't have crashed the phone). No joy on a refund for the repair either.

Hello Guys,
Tuesday night i kept my phone on charging, next morning the phone didnt repond on the wake button, tried several times no help, removed the battery and restarted the device but it took it around 30 minutes to boot up, but the touch screen didnt worked at all, i tried to format the phone via bootloader (after pulling the battery)on first try no result same issue..non working touch screen, after formatting again it started workign smoothy, but i am again facing the same issue today, phone wont start up, and same issue with non working touch scrren.... cant even pickup an calls.... Need you help on it.. I m on Stock rom 2.3.5 with Sense 3.0 overlay non rooted.. and help or i need to go to gallery to resolve the issue
Hi Zeus,
Firstly - Never, ever pull the battery!!!
There - over and done with. Pulling the battery runs a high risk of causing permanent damage to the eMMC chip. You should (I have never locked up my phone so badly that this doesn't work) hold down the Power, Vol+ and Vol- buttons until the phone shuts down on its own.
You say your phone is no-rooted? I guess that means that you have not run any kind of mod on it, obtained S-OFF or anything else and the phone is, basically, as you bought it? If so then I would recommend that you simply go via HTC or your service provider to obtain a replacement.
If you have not felt the need before now to unock/root your phone then now is not really the ideal time to start doing so if you have a warranty still.

If you are in Mumbai (as on ur profile) , You can visit the HTC Support Centre @ Borivali (Thakkar Mall, near Borivali Station) - http://www.htc.com/in/help/service-center/
Please Note : They will most probably repair the phone (I don't think they replace the phones here in India after the initial 15 days period in which u can claim the Dead on Arrival policy).
Thanks for all the Suggestions,
Have read all the issues regarding emmc chip being fried on Desire S, but being out of town for some day, didnt had any choice but to try, however i let the battery drain completely yest.. recharged the phone to full and then booted again.. and its working fine as of now (didnt worked earlier).. without any issues from last 5 hrs.. lets see how it holds, havent yet installed any of apps yet.. guess will wait for another day or two to see the software fails again to hold.
went borivali, but its not yet started (confirmed with customer care of HTC) still being completed..
but yes.. will visit the Dadar branch if any issue arrises afterwards
Glad to hear its working fine as of now.
Btw , regarding the Borivali Service Centre . . I have been there last month & it is well up & running !
Been there on Friday evening at around 6 but it was closed....then I inquired on customer care which told me its non functional as of now... Will check tomm....
The phones working f9 now...no issues in past 2 days...hope it holds
Sent from my HTC Desire S using XDA App
Guys, I have seen this kind of problem with one of my colleagues phone (Not Desire S but Wildfire S). The reason was (assumed) pretty weird though, it was because of some electrical problem. Whenever he would charge his phone at home - it would start having this kind of problem, but when he charged it at office or through his PC - the problem would vanish!
Although I am not sure if yours is the same case.... but then could be..
Another thing: I got my phone's mobo replace free of cost from HTC (Salora) when it was under warranty even though it was S-Off, Rooted - so I think HTC is a bit lenient in India
The issue it seems has vanished, no issues as of now..no hangups or freezes and yes....both the time the issue arised when the phone was in charging.

Hi everyone!
First of all I would like to thank everyone who took the time to read this.
So about a year ago, I bought an Asus Fonepad 7 Model:K00E. Of course that decision was heavily regretted due to the uncountable bugs and malfunctions due to low manufacturing cost and non existent support from Asus itself. Anyways, so I lived with it.
A month or so after buying it, it fell screen first on concrete floor. And as you expected, the touch screen broke. ONLY the touch screen though. So then I had it replaced.
From then on the real problems began, touch screen would suddenly freeze when connected to charger, keypad would type on its own occasionally, and SD card reader no longer worked. Basically they screwed it up even more. Oh and when I changed the screen and made a factory reset due to thinking they were software related, it booted and said android is upgrading (like when you wipe dalvik) but if literally upgraded to KitKat.
Anyways, so problems stopped after a while and and came back occasionally. It worked okay for months, then one day when I was restarting it..it didn't boot..literally. Nothing even showed on the screen, it never turned on. It would just vibrate then nothing would happen. When I took it for fix and repair, since there literally no support from Asus themselves, I took it to a third party shop. After a few days I realized that people who worked there didn't know **** and just said it needs a new software.. Then they said the mother board needs to be replaced (which is basically like buying a new one..even the prices are close)
So I want to ask if there is anyway of fixing it or if anyone experienced this and how they solved it.. Sorry for the long post, just wanted to give every detail so you'd see the full picture. Thanks in advance, any and all replies are appreciated!
my device also switched off yesterday and now won't boot up, did you found any solution???
I some problem, this no boot is a only startup on recovery mode

The service centre guys confirmed that the device's motherboard is dead, so I bought a new motherboard and my tab is now working good
Hi all,
My old (now GF's) Z3 reboots after to much movement or putting down to hard. I'm assuming this is because it might have fallen to many times (with cover), with the result that the gyroscope became half defective. It seems to work still in other occasions (if the phone doesn't reboot).
Is there anyway to know for sure, and if I can repair this?
Kind regards,
Ruben
I could have the same issue as mine fall several time and now, it still works but once boot is complete, no time to "open" it that it reboot. Tried to put it in the fridge and didn't helped so it's not heat issue and I have no idea why this is rebooting because it still works .. but reboot at the end .. :|
Anyone ? Tried to recovery with Sony Companion which worked but still reboot after saying hello ...
Hi , got this phone 3 days back and have observed that the phone hangs and switches off automatically. This has happened while viewing photos in the gallery or clicking a photo and the last time it was while changing brightness. Any clue why is it behaving this way?

Did you activated some gestures? Settings / Advanced / Gestures...
If not then do factory reset, if it doesn't help then RMA.
Double tap to wake up and finger print gesture are the only 2 things which are turned on.
Then do factory reset, if it doesn't help then RMA.
It is happening with me as well. It switches off and then goes into a bootloop for 5 mins before it starts. I talked to the customer care and they sent a technician but all he did was reset the phone. The problem didn't go. So I filed a replacement for the product. What I could deduce from this (might be wrong) is that this issue has something related to the loose battery(watch Jerryrigeverything's teardown vid) placement gone wrong in Zenfone 6. Either way, if I didn't misunderstand your issue then maybe you should also get your varient replaced.
After my last post in this thread, i had uninstall a gallery app by SB studios(available on play store) and since then the problem has stopped. I have a replacement date till 7th July....will wait till 6th and in case the problem occurs even once, ill put up a replacement request.

Just chiming in, I don't see how a loose battery will cause the phone to hang up and reboot. A loose battery will be a fire hazard. A loose battery connector could short circuit the phone and/or make the phone loose power instantly.
I suggest you reset your phone again and if the problem persists get a replacement. Don't wait for the last day, you'll have to convince the CSR to accept the RMA.
Already place a replacement request. I received a call from flipkart today noon, asking me to start the phone in safe mode and see if the problem persist, do a factory reset. Wierd part was the phone even hung when i was in safe mode. I have informed flipkart abt the current state of the phone and they are sending some technician to my residential place check the phone.
@bhavik_kk That's good to hear, keep us apprised!
The technician from Flipkart.com visited and all he did was a hard reset ....and said the issue will be resolved and left. The phone still switches off suddenly and take atleast 30-45 mins to turn on....as it goes into bootloop..aur the phone screen just simply flickers. I can't even place another return request on the flipkart website and it pops up an error, 'somethin went wrong'... Worst experience with flipkart. #Asus India....please help me with this.
I have the same problem too. It happened after the latest update three days ago. It happened twice while I exit playing clash royale and repeatedly after I exit the camera APP. The phone will turn off and Bootloop after displaying the Asus logo. It will boot normally if I hold down the volume down and power keys together ( Don't ask me why... )
I did a factory reset and after first time setup it just shut down and refuseD to boot at all this time.
I'll have to take it to the local service center later.
Me was also facing that issue and still sometime phone hangs and only black screen, then i have to hard restart the phone.
Hope Asus will come provide update to fix it.
This phone is a joke! It is starting to look as bad as the Samsung Galaxy Fold. Way too many issues need to be resolved. Asus rushed it out in an attempt to compete and they are falling on their faces hard. Don't believe me...just do the research on the many, many issues.

Are you all from India?
Do you have the same mobile operator or not?
How old is your SIM card?
Are you using VoLTE?

Just call the customer service again (take the number from the website). You'll again get frustrated while explaining a new person the whole problem all over again. They'll send the technician again (hopefully the same one). Just tell him that the reset didn't work (or record a video of the bootloop) and he'll approve the replacement. It worked for me (got the replacement) and hopefully will work for you too.

I am from Hobg Kong. My phone was functioning well before the latest update last week.
Its funny when I took my phone to the service center it has rebooted by itself (I tried for an hour earlier but the phone has refused to boot no matter how I tried) and everything seens to be fine. Luckily I have recorded a video of the malfunction earlier at home to prove my case !

My phone is not with me so I cannot tell you exactly which version it was. As I said, it was Ok before the latest upgrade a few days ago. I have been using volte since day one. I doubt it caused the problem because when reboot happened, I was at home using WiFi.
hi
i got an xperia 5 II
first i found out that it dont charge, so ive done a reset... and that it shows "corrupted" and it wont start
my pc dont find anything so i cant repair it with the companion or something... only the red light is flashing on the phone
is there any fix for that?
its unbelievable that a phone that is released some weeks ago, have so much problems and is unusable
Where did you buy your phone from? Just take it back (or send it) to your shop, they will maybe give you a different unit. I have had the phone for 1 month and had zero issues with it. I haven't seen such a flawless phone yet. You must be very unlucky.
