Using my new Mi4c for a few days and I am getting terrible battery drain.
Android and Android System are accounting for 19% and 18% in my list as well as the Gallery app showing 10%.
With not much use my phone goes down from 100% to 53% in only 6 hours. And when I say not much use I mean sitting on my work desk with the screen off from 9 to 2pm with my picking it up maybe three times for a few seconds each to send or read a text.
Just came from a Sony Z3 Compact which would still be in the 80% range with the same use.
Any ideas?

I had similar problems as you, but not as severe. I ended up fixing it by flashing the weekly International ROM from Xiaomi . eu, which is a ROM that cuts out all the Chinese apps and all the bloat. Now I'm back down to 0.5% battery/hour idle drain. Another way would be to factory reset and try install your apps one at a time while monitoring your usage. I highly recommend BetterBatteryStats to help track exactly what processes were active in your phone, and any excessive wakelocks that might be eating into your battery. Lemme know how it goes, and I'll try help out if I have the time.
You can root your phone and freeze all the apps that useless to you. This is what I did and battery usage works great.

Thanks for the help.
I am downloading the Official Stable ROM fro Mi as I type this and have also already downloaded the International Unofficial ROM from Xiaomi .eu.
I am going to try the Official one first then re-load in all my G Apps. I am a bit worried about installing the International ROM as I would need to install TWRP and root the phone etc..
I worry I may brick it in the process. I have given my previous phone away and do not have a backup.
If you know of anywhere with good step by step instructions on installing the International ROM could you point me to them?
Thanks again.

You can install the developer rom from en.miui.com , it already has root. It's in the security app, under permissions. And with an app like flashify from play store you can install twrp recovery. A twrp image is available on en.miui.com.

Same problem here...
The people who get 6h sot stay on wifi mostly, barely use 3g or lte, some only on 2g. And they probably dont use many apps, have syncs disabled, no mi account, no localisation, undeclocked, undervolted, etc.

No, only no localisation, no chinese apps, no mi account.
Maybe the people with battery drain should look what causes it, e.g. double tap to wake or such things. Through the last years, there also where problems with "scanning always available" (Network Location Provider Wakelock) in WiFi settings, Emergency Broadcasts, Google Sync and Location Services which caused battery drain. Those things would be the first i would check.

Already checked all settings. Its just because of the different use, thats why people get such SoT. Also if using wifi or not and the cell coverage.
and whether they are using Dual Sim or not

Yeah...basically what the title says. Wondering if running Juice Defender to turn off my data while the screen is off will block the ota
I doubt it. Juice Defender turns on your mobile data connection at a set interval to allow apps to sync and check for updates.

Not even close. I dont know what it is about this phone and me but if I dont turn off mobile data I can leave it in my pocket for 8 hours and its dead. With JD I could at least make it all day. And all im syncing is gmail. I have tried 6 or 8 others and none of them work either, the question is why? They work with other 2.3.3 devices, maybe another hack job of an update?

Looks like you might be running an app that doesn't give up a partial wake lock (keeps the CPU from sleeping). Use Spare Parts to look at your partial wake locks under battery history. If something is going across the screen, that's your culprit.
Otherwise I have no idea.
Juice Defender is listed as being compatible for 2.3.3. For some reason it keeps throwing error codes. It won't disconnect data when the phone is sleep.
My understand was the 2.3.3 has better battery life. That is certainly not the case for me. Its the same as 2.2 for me - 4 hours and done.
Same here. Juice Defender is not working after the update...

Hmm, that's not cool. You might want to grab a version off of a google search. The one in the market is a modified version of Google's free spare parts app that includes ads I believe.
According to spare Parts, stock GB ROM do not have battery history, so that explains why you are FC when attempting to view it
I dont remember if JD requires root, if it doesnt and your rooted, then root will block the update

Hi guys,
I'm sorry if there's a thread about this but I don't even know what keywords to search. Since the Atrix has such brutal battery life I'm wondering something. Is it possible to turn my wifi and data off but have some apps override that? I use whatsapp messenger and would like to allow it to access data so I can still receive messages. Possible or not?

It's not quite what you asked, but Juicedefender will automatically disable all your data, and temporarily re-enable it in user-defined intervals to let your apps update.

Whoa whoa, how does that work? Make sure you figure out what is holding wakelocks and hammering the CPU, that's the quickest way to fix it, the Atrix should have one of the best battery lives of any smartphone.

I don't know much about this kind of stuff, so don't really know how to go about that. Was getting about 6-8 hours with minimal usage so I installed a new kernel and it seems a bit better. I've seen some people report 1.5 -3 days of battery life but I've never cleared more than 10 hours probably.

If on Froyo: in dialer: *#*#4636#*#* should take you to a menu, go to the Battery History application and look at the running vs. screen on percentage. If you stay in high signal areas most of the time and you don't do anything that holds wakelock intentionally (playing music, non-C2DM IM clients), then you should only see about another 2-3 percent tacked onto the screen on time for your total phone awake percentage. If not, look up the partial wakelock since unplugged and check to see what's holding wakelock. If Android OS, reboot your phone liberally. If it's the dialer, same deal. If it's a user-installed application, either figure out how to get it to stop or delete it.
From there install current widgets or something that read your mA drain and ensure it doesn't jump above 10 mA while idle.
Also make sure you use that dialer code to see if you can switch your phone's radio to GSM Auto (PRL) for better battery life in poor signal areas.
It's been talked about on this forum a few times, but I still don't know the answer.
I have Tesco UK edition and when I check my battery stats, it shows, that 35 % of the batery is used by "screen" (of course) and another 40 % is by ModemStatsService .. the rest is just low % .. but I wonder what this ModemStatsService is, what it does and why it uses my battery more than the screen itself. I can force stop the process, but after few hours it restarts itself again. I wouldnt care about that if it werent using my battery even more than the screen.
Anyone please?
Have you tried to reset the device? I also have 8GB MotoG from Tesco UK. Havent had any battery drain issues with both 4.3 and 4.4 Tesco ROMs. The first is always Screen.
And what do u mean by reset? Factory reset? I dont want to set everything again you dont have any modemstatsservice process in battery stats? Could it be a process of some app? I have just regular google apps and runkeeper, nova launcher, fruit ninja, czech news app, flashlight, facebook and file explorer
No one seems to really know what this service does. Can anyone enlighten us as to what it does and how to stop it? It's keeping my phone awake 100%of the time now. Did it come with the 4.4.2 patch? This thread was created before that patch existed.
I've rebooted my phone and the process hasn't restarted. I sure would like to know it's purpose.

Pure guesswork - but I reckon it's there to keep track of Data usage for the Data usage screen in Settings. It's a Motorola system app. I've never seen it appear in Battery Stats.
Hey guys,
I am having battery drain issue on my Galaxy S6 since some time and I started to try to fix it. My SGS6 is not rooted or with any customization.
Well the first thing I did is completely factory reset the phone, including going to recover and cleaning the cache and data partition. After that, I just started the system and let it update itself. It seems fixed (going to deep sleep) for a part of the time, but right after it started to avoid deep sleeping at all (I just installed whatsapp).
Of course, I uninstalled whatsapp to check but is not related. After looking around I disabled the Google Play Services and it seems to be fixed now, but the issue is, there is nothing installed on the phone besides bloatware and the system itself. I disabled most of google and samsung apps besides sms, gallery, etc and the wakelock still exists if I enable google play services...
I am avoiding rooting or changing the system as I want to keep my knox flag clean to use android pay and other nfc payments, but without root I dont know how to search for wakelocks without the help of BBS or similar apps.

No! It has a method for non-root phones and requires administrative access which is absolutely safe as the developer is very professional! It force closes apps and keeps them in force closed state and eats no battery!
Package Disabler Pro lets u disable the useless apps on the S6 without root!
Btw my S6 is not rooted as well and these work fine for me!

Hello guys,
Thanks for your input. After a long section of try and errors, trying to find each app and wakelock which was preventing my system to go into deep sleep, I gave up and rooted it (KNOX tripped, bye bye payment with nfc :crying.
Unfortunately, even after installing the custom roms utilized here I still suffering from something preventing deep sleep even without installing anything besides BBS (Wipe, clean install, BBS, wait 30~ minutes and check BBS). I really don't know which kind of configuration is preventing my phone from going to deep sleep.
I hope I can fix it at least, because if not, I just rooted my phone without any worth to me. I miss when I got this phone and it had about 5h SOT everyday even with wifi, music, and anything.
Hi man
Hope this is any help.
Had battery drain aswell and still I'm searching but for me I come closer to the drainer.
I was a little frustrated but I came to the conclusion that cell standbye and android o s where the biggest consumers.
This morning I totally loaded the battery till it was full.
Around 7 I turned on flight mode and turned off WiFi and mobile network.
Now it's 12.37 and the battery is half drained so still 50% and 5.29 ours of battery life left. Note that my s6 is just laying in de room. So no usage by anyone.
I am not satticefied but I know now that constantly searching or automatically searching for network was one of the problems and due cell standby who is connected to that options. Well, automatic network searching can be stopt.
A littke bit closer tot the answers but tonight i will do the same. Full battery, Flight mode on, mobile network of andere wifi on tot zee what happend without usage from me.
No about android o s. This was left as the biggest consumer so I have to go and search that and see if i can find answers there.
Hope it's useful for you and any help would be priciated

It works best with rooted phone, but there is a working mode for unrooted phones as well which I'm using on my s6 as it's not rooted! It's located in experimental features, you'll see it says working mode Non-rooted!
Download it! It's free and less than 5mb! If u don't like it, uninstall it!

Morning guys.
Last evening I wiped cache, fully loaded the battery. WiFi on, airplan mode on. Rest off. Downloaded better batterystats and left it.
This morning the phone still has battery life left! That's new!
Now 9.27 our on battery. 76% empty
We'll wenn I look at battery usage on the phone it is Samsung o s on top with 43%.
In better battery stats. Awake has 96%.
So that means that the phone never go's to sleep?
Someone got some solution for that?
After reading something about it I've uninstalled ANT services and ANT plug-in, definitely a better behavior.
With wifi , bluetooth, mobile data off, non automatic display and set to one third for luminosity (enough for an indoor use), google and S voice on demand and some other goodies deactivated, a charge lasts 2 and a bit days on this S6 edge + (I used it heavily yesterday with sms and one long call for about 3h),, so this is much better thant the first days when it lasted hardly one day on a charge.
I'll try these apps to round the culprit and still has to uinstall all the non needed apps and services like google crap, samsung crap, facebook and such.I've also installed DS Eco Battery from playstore that clearly helped my phone to stay in deep sleep.
Hi Charlene
Can you post your s6 battery usage here?
I have the same phone and for comparison it would be useful to see what the difference is in usage?
As mentioned earlier the android o s toke up far to much % if you ask me.
Edit: Today I ran wake lock detector. WiFi off, mobile network off, no acculoader plugged.
Just looked at it and under kernel I found bcm4773_wake_lock keeping s6 awake. Anybody familiar with it? Thanks!

Broadcomm module. Sounds like the GPS.

I did a complete charge last night before I hit the sack. Battery was around 96%, today morning 80%!
I flashed stock ROM using TWRP, on first charge cycle battery is fine - just 1% overnight drain with 8 hrs SOT. On second charge cycle this issue hits me everytime.
All my radios are usually off (WiFi, NFC, Bluetooth, Data).
My phone seems to be in deep sleep a good portion of that time (See WLD statistics - attachment #1).
Android system sucks my battery during sleep and it was at 90% relative consumption when I woke up (See screen shot #1, Android sys has consumed 1840mAh!! This is ridiculously high for a phone that is apparently in Deep Sleep!)
Also attached screen shots from WLD for Summary, Kernal / Partial wakelocks & Alarms.
Device is rooted.
Going crazy trying to find out what's happening.
This happened with KangVIP and my current B180 ROM's which have great battery life as reported by other users here .

Thanks. Got it.
Will try a factory reset before I sleep tonight and see how that goes.

This is an unacceptable level of drain. I get similar numbers. This is getting very annoying. I am spending hours just debugging this nonsense.
When did you install / reset your ROM? What is the build you are on? I have read some posts that suggest to let the system be for first few days since it is in a "Learning Phase". Mine is currently in that phase.
Also, I find that many users here are not facing this issue on the ROM's that I am on, but some users are. I have faced this in multiple different ROM's.
Hence, I suspect this is an issue of some setting that we have changed. This is the first thing I do after reset / flash - modify a bunch of settings.
After searching and reading a lot, I have not come across any solid solutions from anywhere.
Here's a solution from the other thread. But I don't have this in system/apps. So this goes down the drain.

Couple others that are worth mentioning,
1. WiFi causing the drain (Am currently debugging this, modifying options).
2. Format SD card on new ROM, or just remove it (Would be great if you could try this out).
3. Factory reset has not solved for most people, but for some. (Did they *not* tweak some setting after reset?)
4. I think much of this drain is experienced after, charging and during sleep after that!

I'm on stock B192, been there for a few weeks now... didn't factory reset after the update, didn't have this issue during the first few weeks. Just recently. I haven't modified anything out of the ordinary.

What value do u have for WiFi -> Advanced -> Keep WiFi on During sleep?
I had the battery drain till last night. Before sleeping I charged it completely, and modified this WiFi setting. Overnight I had only 2% drain as compared to +15% over last few days.
Battery looks good for now. I had the feeling that my WiFi is consuming more power than 4G (Need to verify if I am right). Currently observing.
I hope it is not one of those sporadic issues!

I presume u have been facing this issue at least over past few days now, not just a day or two.
Try toggling to Never. Recharge to full before you hit the sack. Lets see if that changes anything. This helped me, but need to observe for multiple consecutive days.

Will do tonight, thanks for the advice.
If you not absolutely needed, switch OFF Google synchronisation. Profiles - Menu - uncheck auto synchronisation.

That's one of the first few things I disable. Nor do I use backup.
The battery drain is back. Disappeared for just a couple of days.
Is there anyone who knows how to fix this issue?
I would request you to do a back up of your apps and then factory reset and then again flash the ROM but via dload method.
Everything will be fine.
Then you can restore your apps
