[Q] notifications not showing on edge after updating to 5.1.1 - Note Edge Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Tried security and application notifications as well as notification access, text messages do not show on the edge as they did on kk help?

same problem

5.0.1 has a specific setting for showing notifications on the edge under settings>Edge Screen> Show notifications on edge screen. Not there in 5.1.1?

with 5.1.1 then have notifications showing up on the Edge screen also with lock screen as 4.4.4 , but change settings
settings->sound and notification->notification application -> app and set two and three option

Tried that, option 2 is there, but option 3 isn't, and it still doesn't show notification on edge.
Thanks for the help so far :good:

1) wipe partition cache
2) into settings->sound and notification->lock screen-> set show messagge/notification
and return to >notification application -> app and view three option

Found something odd ... after wiping cache it doesn't re optimize apps like on all my other devices ...

Wiped cache or Dalvik?

Else try a factory reset. Cleared some edge issues for me when I moved from Kitkat to 5.0.1

Here's my options on 5.1.1 no third options.

my app google
uhmm, into settings - > screen edge-> checked flag on "notification message"? and on "feed information" checked?
my options on 5.1.1 with no third option when i set "hidden messagge" on lock screen. after i partition cache, choose "show messagge" and i after new cache partition and re odin install rom 5.1.1. After i have three option

wiped cache and dalvik, still no fix. I think data is the last thing to do. oh well.

Same issue here...

I have had this same exact issue for a couple months on my sprint edge. Ive done multiple factory resets and Ive found that the edge notifications work perfectly until the phone is restarted. Once the phone turns on and off for the first time after the reset, all edge notifications are broken.. This has happened every time I factory reset it!!
We need an update addressing these 5.1 issues

use odin for rewrite 5.1.1, I as Ive that the edge notifications work perfectly until the phone is restarted. Once the phone turns on and off for the first time after the reset, all edge notifications are broken.. with recovery i wipe partition cache and reused odin 3.10.7 for update 5.1.1 stock and the edge notifications work perfectly also the phone is restarted.

Do the people with broken notifications have fingerprint unlock turned on? If you disable it, is it resolved?

i have fingerprint unlock turned off

Tried with fingerprint lock and off, no difference. Not working.

I will try rewriting the update with odin. Ive tried downgrading with odin before I realized it wasn't possible, but hopefully it will work if its the same firmware.

Tried reflashing the update. Bricked the phone, It said "firmware update encountered an issue" then I flashed the 5.1.1 file that I downloaded to fix it and the phone was working again, except nothing was deleted, the phone was the exact same as I left it and notifications still don't work.
Edit: tried again and it passed on the first try. Phone keeps booting up like nothing happened, all my apps and data and settings are untouched. Doesnt flashing stock firmware wipe everything?

Nope, Depends if you flash the all-in-one file or the broken up rom - PIT, BL, AP, CP & CSC.
All-in-one rom doesn't seem to delete your data, broken up rom does.

Unreadable Emergency Alerts and Hard Reset

I keep getting unreadable emergency alerts with some non-text or binary characters with sim-card absent.
Earlier I activated 'Developer Mode' and might have changed some default settings . Now I did Data Factory Reset from the phone Settings menu, but it did not resolve the problem. How can I do complete factory reset or hard reset to bring the phone to pre-sale condition?
Have you solved it, i'm having same issue.
alerts just keep on coming and they unreadable.

No, I have not
too bad. i found alert settings in networking setup section, but even when i uncheck them all i still get those stupid alerts.
Here is what i found on russian forum.
If you phone is rooted, you can install this zip using CWM and it will remove the CellBroadcastReceiver.apk, which is responsible for alerts.
I've done it and it all good.

You don't need root. Only CWM or any other custom recovery
But recovery required unlocked bootloader...

android.process.media has stopped, help?

Hello guys, I have this s7 duos (gt-g9305fd) (UAE), I rooted it about a week ago and everything was going okay, but yesterday while I was playing with developer options I turned on OEM lock/relocked it, and then after the phone restarted I got this message "Custom binary blocked by FRP lock", I searched for solutions online and I read that I have to flash the stock rom to fix the issue, so I did (Indian Stock Rom). After that, I booted it up and got several "x is responsive messages" (android.process.media, my files, Google x, Google y, Google z) so I thought it's a permission issue so I rooted it again, but that doesn't seem to fix the issue .. Is there a way to fix this?

Try to go in and force stop android.process.media and cmlear its data and reboot. If that does not work jreinstall stock firmware with odin.

How can I force stop android.process.media, what app is that? Also, I did flash stock firmware and that's the only reason I'm getting these errors.. I'm guessing it has to do with Google * apps or some stock app(my files gets unresponsive too, also can't see anything from gallery/my files)

Fingerprint sensor stopped working after manually deleting password files.

Hi there,
I have recently had to root my S6 (running stock Android 6.0.1) in order to delete the password files under /data/system (all the .key files and the locksettings.db) as I had forgotten my password and fingerprint unlock was not enabled. After doing this successfully, I was able to unlock my phone and when trying to remove/add finger prints in the settings app, I get the error message saying:
An error has occurred with the fingerprint sensor. If this message appears repeatedly, restart your device.

Even after restarting my device, I am still unable to remove fingerprints or sometimes even access the fingerprint management menu in the settings. I cannot see how this could have happened and would really appreciate any help in fixing this issue.
Thanks

Only thing I can advise now is to backup and do a full factory reset, if you still have issues try a new rom or firmware

Fingerprint sensor issue

Hi,
After updating to 7.0 nougat by official Europe update,
My fingerprint sensor stopped responding, when I'm trying to add new fingerprint it wouldn't let me even try, It shows a message (Attention: make sure that the home key is clean and dry, then try again) and then it goes back to the main lock screen settings menu.
I'm really desperate, already tried everything, plz help!

Have you tried to factory reset or just flash android 7.0 with Odin. I would recommend wiping after installing an update like 7.0 anyway updating always causes bugs and issues for me.

I also just updated my SM-G935FD via OTA to Android version 7.0.
Since then, fingerprint scanner is not working. Like for OP, all tests fail under HwModuleTest.
I tried to remove all fingerprints, but it is impossible to add new fingerprints - the error message is "Make sure that the Home key is clean and dry, then try again." Obviously, the fingerprint sensor is as dry and clean as it was before the update (when it worked perfectly).
Since then I tried, unsuccessfully:
- removing old fingerprints and adding new fingerprints (does not work, cf. above)
- formatting cache partition
- performing a hardware reset
- flashed the stock firmware G935FXXU1DQB3 with Odin
Please advice, thanks.

If you have tried to flash stock firmware in Odin, I'm really not sure what the issue is, if it was just a glitch in the software it should probably have been fixed by a wipe and flash with Odin. If your phone is still under warranty I would bring it back into the Samsung shop or contact them over the internet to inquire about fixing it.
The same exact problem has happened to me too . I'm tired of unlocking with patterns
What should we do ?
This cannot be a hardware issue cuz phone was fine right before the update

Do you still have the issue ?
I have the same problem ???
What the way to fix this issue
I had that problem sometimes and in the end the main reason was really sweat on my fingers and dirt on the home button.
I know this doesn't sound like a solution, but it surprised me as well. Just try drying your fingers and clean the surface of the home button.
Hi There! I encountered the same issue earlier but then suddenly my fingerprint sensor works normally. The last thing I that I made changes to my phone was to reset the password of my samsung account. Not if there was a security breach that happened but after resetting the password, works fine for me. I suggest that you back up your phone's data before and after resetting your Samsung account.
I have this problem for 1 year, tried to change the password but didnt work.
IS someone still struggling with this problem ? Yesterday i upgraded to DevBase 6.0 Oreo newest build. But after the flashing process the fingerprint sensor act in a unusual manner. Sometimes i could unlock the phone sometimes it directly jumps to the pattern unlock screen. Any news about the problem ? I wiped cache/dalvik and i resetted my password of the samsung account - nothing helps.
Any help, ideas, links are highly appreciated
Cheers
Rhonin

Camera loading issues

I've had the phone for about a week. Everything worked fine for the first several days, then the camera wouldn't load in the FB Messenger app (I get a white screen with white text that says the camera may be in use by another app, etc.). Then yesterday the camera app on the phone itself wouldn't load, and oddly after failing, the icon for the camera app disappeared from the desktop. I factory reset the phone and set up as new, and still have the FB Messenger problem, but the phone camera app works fine.
Anyone else experiencing anything like this? What are the chances it is a hardware issue and I should just swap out the phone?
Thanks!
Did you restore any apps or data? Maybe from Google backup and restore?
What firmware and region are you on?
I might reflash the same full firmware with firmware finder application.
I did not - set up as new phone, turned off "restore settings". It isn't rooted, so no messing with firmware.

You don't need to be rooted to flash ur firmware, just use this guide,it install the firmware like an official way.
