I've searched and can't find anything. Is there any way to link all volume controls together? The ringtone, notification, system, and media are all different/separate volumes but I would really like all of them (especially ringtone and notification). Any help is appreciated

I know that the sounds are located in system/media/audio....check that out see what you can do.

do you mean the same choices, or the same ringtone? You should be able to copy the ringtones from /system/media/audio/ringtones to /sdcard/media/audio/notifications (going from memory here), and I would think that would give you the sounds you are looking for. you will probably have to be rooted to make this work, unless you can find the ringtones in a zip on this forum (which you probably can).

Like the same volume, cause when I lower the incoming calls ringtone then the notification one is the same as it was before without changing

Not sure what you're saying, but you can change the volume in your sound settings. You can change the sound itself according to the above posts.

what he's saying is, that on most stock android phones, the notification volume follows the ringtone volume, so if you lower the ring tone, via the volume keys, it also lowers the notification volumes. The SGS4G doesn't do this. I would imagine that there is a 3rd part app that will handle it, but I am typically on vibrate, or full volume, so it doesn't matter enough to me to really research it.

If you install mysettings from market, you can do this. Open mysettings, long press ringer mode in upper left hand corner. This will give you your volume sliders. check the box that links ringer and notification volumes.
O my goodness you rock guys!!! Omg omg omg!! I love you all!!

I have tried searching, but my G2X will not ring. I can see the call coming in, but it does not ring. I have looked at all my settings and even changed some trying to get a sound. I am rooted running CM nightly. I have wiped, can hear music from music player, but no sound for ring. I feel it probably is something simple, but can not figure it out. And yes, I have checked the ringer volume.
Anyone with ideas would be greatly appreciated
Only thing i can tell you is to do a complete wipe and flash again.
Did you check the ringer volume? It has a separate volume slider than the other sounds. While the phone is ringing press the volume up key and see if that makes a difference. You can also see the ringtone volume slider in the sounds, or when you are choosing a ringtone the volume keys will adjust the ringer volume. Sounds like it got set to no volume by accident.
I did another wipe and it worked. I had checked the volume slider.
Thanks guys for the help
Glad to see it's working!!!

lol nice. Will keep this in mind next time i flash my phone.
How do I silence notifications?
I have been looking around the settings and cannot find a way to silence the notification sound for SMS's, emails, etc. On stock Android most applications have a ringtone called "Silent" or something to that effect. On the HOS I cannot find it. I feel stupid asking this, but hopefully I am not the only one that is new to Sense and does not know where this is.
Thank you.

Go into sms>setting>notification>uncheck notification sound to silent sms. Then go to mail>settings>notification settings>uncheck sound notification. Hope this helps

Notifications and the phone Ringer volumes are tied together with no way to separate them. If you put the phone in silent it will silence notifications, or if you use the volume rocker on the side of the phone, notification sound volumes will decrease with ringer volume.

That is completely impractical. If I want notifications silenced, I don't want to jump through ****ing hoops like some dog & pony show, but I suppose technically you're right. As long as you don't mind all those ridiculous steps to get it done. But you can't turn notification volume down without turning ringer volume down.

hey im not htc i didnt decide to make it that way lol. i know its pretty dumb but he wants to be able to silent the sms, email, etc and thats how we have to do it. lol
An alternative solution: Try getting the app Volume Control +, set it so that ringtone volume and notification volume are not linked, and then turn down the volume on notifications all the way.
I haven't tried it, so tell us if it works for you.
I've tried with other volume control apps, and they all show different volumes for a second, but ringer and notification are always the same volume, even if the app shows them as different. I guess I'll give Volume Control+ a shot, but I would be surprised if it made a difference.

Volume Control+ & Audio Manager wont do it either.
Try this app:

Thank you for your responses and support.
I was able to disable the notification sound for gmail and SMS.
However, I cannot find a way to disable the notification sound for calendar events. Does anybody know how to disable event notification sounds?
I think it is crazy that "Silent" is not an option in the default list of notification sounds. It would be the easiest way to disable all notifications in one-step.
Thank you.
I have tried to search for this but haven't really found any solution. On my previous android phones when I go into work or somewhere that I want my phone on vibrate I would just simply hold the Vol Down key until it goes to Vibrate and everything would be silenced (ringtones, notification tones, etc.) but when I got phone calls, text, etc it would vibrate.
For some reason on this phone when I do this it doesn't control the individual "Notification" volume, so I have go in and manually control that myself. I guess for some people this might be useful to manually control them individually but to just quickly silence the normal things like ringtones & notifications. For me personally it's quite annoying to have to deal with them on an individual basis.
Thanks in advance to anyone that can help me out on this!
I'm also curious about this. I do the same thing. I put my phone on vibrate when I get to work which silences the ringer but if I do something else (I often play ads in Viggle for bonus points) that volume is untouched and must be silenced on its own...
I'm using CM10 currently. Not sure if this differs between roms.

Is there a settings / sound / volumes / link ringtone and notifications check box?
I haven't had either issue. If mine is on vibrate that's all it does, if silenced it's all silenced. Hmm.
Have you guys tried using a widget or the notification toggle?

Thanks Romman0! That option is not available, but just your keyword of "link" enabled me to find an app that does exactly what I needed! :good:

There is a setting in Cm10 that links ringtone and notifications

Would anyone be interested in a widget for this? I could get right onto developing it if there's a demand for it.

The volume of ringtone and notification sound can not be adjusted seperatly. At itself not a problem except for the fact that notification volume is way higher then ringtone volume. If I set the volume lower then the ringtone cannot be heard anymore and the notification volume is still to high.
If I set the volume higher then the notification will become a disturbence.
I have tried some 3rd party apps to manage volume of ringtones and notifications seperatly. But those do not seem to be capable off manageing notification volume and ringtone volume seperatly either.
For now I have decided to turn off notification sounds because off the volume.
I have had an OP6 before the OP Nord. There the volume of ringtones and notifications could not be managed seperatly as well but at least the volume of both ringtone and notification was in sync (equal loudness).
Anyone else noticed this? Any ideas on how to get the notification volume in line?
Do you use own file for ringtone? You can edit it, increase volume, e.g. in Audacity on PC, so it will be louder than notification sounds, and then lower ringtone volume.

Yeah, it is not a OP ringtone.
Strange thing is I have been using this ringtone on my OP6 previously where I did not have this "volume" problem.
I will give Audacity a try.
Thx.
Hi try this app, This might work for you.
It will increase ringtone volume to 100% before receiving normal call.
P.S tested on galaxy devices.
