Terrible 2.4ghz WIFI speeds when bluetooth enabled - ONE Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I've only been noticing this since 2 weeks, and I've found other threads on oneplus forums/reddit that have the same problem, but appearantly nobody knows a fix. When I have bluetooth enabled on my OPO the WIFI speeds on 2.4ghz go down to 100-200 kB/s max. 5Ghz seems to be unaffected, but I don't have that everywhere. I was using CM12.1 official when I first noticed it happening. When I turn off my bluetooth the wifi speed goes back to what it's supposed to be, but I have a Pebble so permanently disabling bluetooth isn't really an option for me... I've installed Sultanxda's [ROM+KERNEL][5.1.1] Unofficial CyanogenMod 12.1 with CAF 3.4.0 kernel [Oct. 11, 2015] today but the problem persisted. I then tried the newest AK CAF kernel but again to no avail. What else could I try? Or has anyone found a fix by now?
Thanks for your time!

[Q] Lower WIFI performance after installing WildChild 3.3

I installed WildChild v.3.3 [Odex] by Tigger31337 in my Wildfire S a week ago, and overall I am very happy with it.
The only problem I have found is now it is very difficult for me to connect to some WIFI networks I used to connect very easily.
The kernel is:
[email protected]And18-2 #24
Baseband:
47.23e.35.3038H_7.57.39.10M
Is there a different kernel with better WIFI performance on low signal networks or any other thing I could try?
I have tried many ROMs and I really want to stick with WildChild.
Thanks!

Poor WIfi speeds with CM7.2

Hmmm, I'm in a bit of tough spot.
My Wifi speeds are horrible on a CM7.2 ROM. I'm using a custom rom (from cm forum) that someone built to solve the bad bluetooth headset profile that was regressed into the cm7.2 release. I need cm7.2 cause its' bluetooth also supports HID. Unfortunately, wifi speeds suck in this rom. I can't remember whether the cm7.2 stable had poor wifi speeds.
Does anyone recall what this wifi problem was, and how to fix it?
Thx,
rickbol

You could use smanager ads or pro along with v6 supercharger ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=18703418&postcount=5021 ). There is a 3g and wifi hack in that script.

It's actually in the 3G TurboCharger script, but it is on the thread you linked to.
Thanks, I'm reviewing those scripts.
Additional info... I disabled N support on my AP and my wifi throughput increased from 300-1000 kbs to a consistent 3000-4000 kbs. So that's alot better. But, CM7.2 wifi consistently shows a ~10DBm sensitivity deficit compared to another phone sitting next to it. Also, the Evo Shift stock ROMs sensitivity was more on order with this other phone. So I don't know if the sensitivity deficit is a bug, or part of the power\battery management.
I'm new to CM7.x, so I don't know how I can best test these thing. If I plug the phone in, does it automatically run in "Performance" mode for all features?
The issue I'm facing is I'm trying to use GrooveIP (VoIP) over Google Voice. I was having issues with this phone, and I beleive they were related to the wifi performance.
Any other suggestions for testing or debugging?

As I continue to investigate this wifi issue, I discover that this CM7.2 has no tiwlan*.ini anywhere on the system. Other "slow wifi" reports mention using a CM6.x tiwlan.ini to fix CM7.2 wifi issues.
Can anyone confirm that a CM7.2 ROM should have tiwlan.ini? Where is it? The only file in /etc/wifi, /system/etc/wifi on this machine\rom is wpa_supplicant.conf.
What I'm really looking for is a ROM that: supports all the standard evo shift hardware stuff (inlcluding wimax), plus, bluetooth HID. It be great if it also improved on battery life.
Any contenders\suggestions?
Thx,

I don't know if you have any options with all those on the Shift.
If you are having trouble with CM7 not working well enough for you then stick with a STOCK based sense rom, every asop GB rom is based around the work done on CM7.

I would suggest strapped365's 2.77.651.8 [Rooted Stock-O.T.A] Rom, or Chad The Pathfinder's Stock Mod [SENSE 2.1 | 2.3.4]. There are quite a few others, these are just two of the latest that are quite stable .
Thanks for the ROM suggestions. I actually have the StockMod as my Sense rom for when I have to update Profile and PRL (I recently switched to Ting... so far, so good).
I've been able to poke around a bit down in linux on CM7. I'm suspecting the bcm4329.ko driver has some config wrong in it, but I don't know how to t-shoot settings really. Since the sensitivity is down by ~-10dBm, but otherwise working, I almost think misconfigured antennas or something. "iwconfig eth0" often reports relatively high "Noise level" and some "Tx excessive retries" although I don't have lots of 2.4GHz equipment competing for the spectrum (afaik).
Regarding the linux layer in Android, do both CM and Sense use pretty much the same implementations with regards to (wifi) hardware, or do they use different "management" interfaces? I guess CM is the one that departs most from "stock", but I don't yet have a feel for whether these departures are mostly in the Android layer, or whether they go deep under the hood into the kernel.
This "low-sensitivity wifi" issue is a widely reported issue thru all makes of phones and versions of (at least) CM, but I have yet to come across any positive diagnosis of the source of the issue (although, given the reports, I suspect a common cause). My hunt continues. Seems all the later dev of CM forgoes wimax functionality... and while wimax hasn't proved to be widely available, it does exist in my area, and 3G is so saturated that it's worth trying wimax when available.
Thanks for the help,

CM 10 suggestion for stablitity

Has anyone tested out all the different CM10 versions that our out?
I've been using CM 10.1 unofficial nightly from 06-09-2013. It had all the features working that i use (wifi + BT audio for example) which is why I hadn't updated since.
But seeing the development that was made for 10.1 with 3.4 kernal, and 10.2, I was wondering if anyone had a suggestion of the most stable ROM
Thanks!
I'm using the "last stable" from here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2180163
volume's a bit quiet on bluetooth HSP and Audio also in phone calls, i can't use half my chargers either but battery life, speed and stability are great.
you should carry on in this thread, though, as this one is in the wrong forum and I created this one 2 days ago asking the same thing.

WiFi + bt together broke when we changed kernels. If that's important to you, you may not want to upgrade.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
actually i discovered (which you may have already known) its just the 2.4ghz band. I have a 5.0ghz wireless N router which i can use with bluetooth no problem.

wifi drop on sleep

I am on the latest cyanogenmod nightly and wifi drops whenever I turn the screen off , wifi off during sleep is set to never. I would have posted this in the nightly thread but apparently I don't have enough posts.
Probably an issue with the latest CM nightly
Just to clarify you are not running anything such as tasker where it would turn wifi off right?

Nope not using tasker, I thought it might be the nightly too but people are usually pretty quick to point out when something as big as wifi breaks in the nightly thread
I rebooted my router and the problem seems to have gone away for now. Strange that it only happens during. Sleep though.

5Ghz Wifi low speed issue on all roms i've tested

Hi,
I've got an issue with the 5Ghz wifi on the 1+1. The Wi-Fi speed on 5Ghz is really low (0Mbps during the speed test). I've tested it on different roms.
The only solution I found to solve the problem and get a good speed is to go back on cm12 and install franco's kernel r43.
I would like to know if anybody knows if it's possible to extract r43 Wi-Fi drivers and make them compatible with cm12.1 nightlies?
Thanks for your help!

To be honest that is the first thing I hear about that. I have used multiple roms and always get good speeds.
Just did a quick test to a nas on my 5GHz network (Asus RTN-66U and a Linksys 6500) . 50MB file at around 8 to 12MB/s (megabyte not megabit!) which is more than fast enough.
I would try a different router if I were you.
Btw a good Asus router makes a difference compared to cheap stuff, not only in speed but also range.

Hi,
Thank you for your reply but I'm sure that the issue is due to the roms kernel. I have tested a lot of roms (sultanxda caf cm12.1 & 13, cm12.1 nightlies with stock and ak kernel etc...) and always the same issue : during the speed test (with the speedtest app from playstore) on my 5Ghz network the speed is really high at the start of the test (80Mbps) and then it decrease to really low speed (0Mbps).
I use my provider's box (Bbox Miami) and got a ftth connexion (1Gb) and as I said on my previous post the only solution to get a decent speed is to go back to cm12 and flash franco kernel r43.
With franco kernel r43 I get :
85Mbps DOWN and 92Mbps DOWN
Any help?

Then why can I just upload and download my 4K recordings constantly at max speed via airdroid or es-explorer? I am talking about a couple of hundred of MB clips.
My ISP speedtest via speedtest.net or the app is more or likely always maxed out at 100Mbps download, just did that test again. So for the money I would just get a different AP or router and use that. I haven't really seen anyone else complain. Just try it at a friends place or so.
I've seen plenty of crap wifi routers, both wifi and hardwired. The Bbox 2 which we had here in Belgium from an ISP was famous for being full of wifi bugs, unstable, disconnecting etc.
I also have a router here which does not give out an ip to an old laptop. (haven't wiresharked yet) but with all others it does.

I'm agree with you but why should I buy a new router? I'm on cm12 with kernel franco at the moment and it works perfectly 85Mbps down and 92Mbps up.
Maybe the stock cm12, 12.1 and 13 OPO's wifi drivers are not compatible with my ISP Box but I just want to know if it's possible to extract the wifi drivers from franco's kernel and use them with on cm12.1 or 13.
I'm om sultans latest 5.1.1 rom and I don't have the slow WiFi speeds you are having. With the speedtest.net app from Google play I get 185 Mbps down and 20Mbps up from my 200/20 connection on 5GHz. (Router 2m./ 6,5 feet away).
Maybe you can try to change your WiFi region code in advanced settings under WiFi if you haven't tried thuis already.

I've used these ROMs and my 5GHz AP lets the speedtest app max the connection, 55/5 nearly every time.
Whoa. Actually I just pulled 88.5/6.25 on a speedtest with my Asus RT-AC68U
No problem for me on sultan caf 340.
