Hi guys,
I'm using Samsung galaxy 2 skyrocket (originally from att) with a different carrier.
I want to use the internet with t-mobile radio but right now, it's getting only edge speed internet (with the carrier I got 'simple mobile'.) - sooo slow!
I searched and found out that I can flash the radio with blaze 4g lb 7 radio file, so I downloaded and got it as zip file.
The problem is it's not compatible with odin.
I need to find .tar file to run it with odin because I don't want to root the phone.
Because the person said that I can just flash radio with the file through odin.
So my questions are
1. Is it possible to do this way?
2. If so, can you send me .tar file for this? (or tell me how to make one, or how to convert the .zip file to .tar file)
3. Can you tell me how to flash radio with this method more specifically?
Thanks so much!

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1507825 this thread has radio downloads compatible with tmobile, you will need to root and install the zip file you want in rom manager. Here you can find arguably the most user friendly way to root your phone http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1677092

Flash a custom recovery, ANY recovery. The easiest way that comes to mind is go to the all in one root thread and only do the first part. Use Odin and flash the cwm 5.0.2.6 recovery. Then simply download the blaze radio to ur sim card and flash it from there. Please note that blaze requires ics, it won't work on stock gb, or gb period, so make sure u at the very least Odin ics stock
Hit thanks if i helped
imo stay away from cwm 5.0.2.6, use one of the recoveries in the 1st link in my sig
I NO DO NOT OWN THIS PHONE AND WILL NO LONGER PROVIDE SUPPORTHere is a link to the stock Verizon tar file to flash in download mode via Odin. Use this to return to factory stock if a factory reset dose not solve any problems you may have with your retail Verizon S5. This will remove root and any custom recovery. I have also included a .pit file if you want to repartition your device and a link to Odin. If you find these files useful and download them please hit the thanks button. Do not copy these files and repost them, make a link to this thread instead. If I missed anything in the instructions please let me know and I will update the OP. Thanks and enjoy.
DO NOT FLASH THE FULL TAR FILES ON THE DEV EDITION UNLESS YOU WANT A LOCKED BOOTLOADER!! Please make a backup using this guide before flashing anything here. It will save your phone from a lock down.
Tar Install Instructions:
1: Download Odin and Verizon S5 Stock Retail Tar from the links below. Then extract the Odin.zip file ..
2: Run Odin and pick the AP button then navigate to where you saved the file you want to flash and chose that file. Let Odin verify the file.
3: Turn off your phone and enter download mode by holding the home, volume down and the power buttons until the enter download mode screen appears. Then enter download mode by letting go of the buttons and then press the volume up key.
4: Now you should be in download mode, connect your phone to your PC now. Odin should say connected in the message box, if not you need to install your Samsung phone drivers.
5: After connecting your phone and loading the tar file select the Start button and let Odin do it's job. This will take about 5 to to 10 minutes to complete. Please be patient and do not disconnect your phone until the phone reboots and the word Pass appears in the upper left corner of Odin.
6: That's it, you should now be in the phone setup screen with the words Pass in Odin if all went well.
** Safestrap will no longer work after updating to OA8. You can access Safestrap by flashing back the NK2_Kernel_Only and then the OC4_Kernel when you are done using Safestrap.**
If you get stuck in a bootloop after flashing a tar file DO NOT pull the battery. Enter the maintenance menu by holding the volume down, home and power keys for about 10 seconds. Then clear cache and factory data reset.

Ha Ha.... No and No. I can confirm this, I flashed my own phone first. On a side note don't use flash gordon to flash zip files. You might mess up your phone beyond the factory reset. It's all good now.
Really appreciate this! With root we have the ability to really mess up our phone. This gives some peace of mind. Thanks!

No problem, I'm having this moved to this thread probably tomorrow morning. I figured we should combine threads to cut down on some clutter in the general thread.
Sorry if this a noobish question, I've never used Odin. By repartition are you saying I can use this to make the system partition smaller and add more space to the rest of the system?

No the pit file just re-partitions the phone to stock partition sizes. As far as I know you can only change partition sizes thru a custom recovery like safestrap.
Now we need a file like this that doesn't touch the internal sd card. Just a system refresh

Or odin. You can modify the package to not wipe storage, but I'm not sure if it will flash on a bootloader locked device.

Yup, that's what I was thinking with breaking the sig. I know you can flash the modem and recovery without the sig but for the system you need it.
Is this Odin image or the one from Sammobile more reliable? My phone has a weird quirk where it sets itself to vibrate right after a reboot and I wanted to see if going back to factory and starting over fixed it.

I used the one from Sammobile to recover my Verizon SGS5 after rooting it and getting a little too carried away deleting bloat. It worked fine.

You either have a bad download and need to redownload or you aren't using the checker properly. I checked the MD5's and they match. All you need to do for the checker is copy the md5 and paste it in the md5 box and select the file

True but the Sammobile download is really slow if you don't pay for the service. The one I have posted is the same as what came with my phone from Verizon.

Absolutely. I was just saying the one from Sammobile will work if it can't be found elsewhere. When I needed the file I couldn't find it anywhere else and this thread wasn't here yet. I just suffered through the 90 minute download but in the end it all worked out.
I redownloaded on another computer and the Md5 numbers match, except for the tar file. When I download it and run it threw Odin, the program freezes. At the end of the file it has "tar.md5"Why does it have the md5 at the end? Shouldn't it have just ".tar" only? Thanks.
Hi
I just rooted my phone successfully with this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/z3/general/guide-rootrecovery-how-to-root-install-t3017056
I don't know what to do. The recovery tool link don't work and not quite sure what I should do in the first step of recovery.
Thanks in advance
Look for dual recovery in the cross device development section.
There actually is a link to it in the OP of the thread you linked.
Then download it and run it.
Done.

Thanks, it worked.
May I ask how I upgrade now? I know there is a link to another thread, but I don't get far there too.
Can I just upgrade the normal way or will I lose root then? Or do I need to flash it?
Thanks in advance
Look for PRFCreator in the cross device development thread
(PRF stands for pre rooted firmware)
Download the tool, Dual recovery flashable zip (Not the installer version), SuperSU and the firmware you want to upgrade to
Run the tool, follow the instructions, 7 minutes later you will have a flashable zip that you can flash in recovery to upgrade to the firmware you want with root and dual recovery.

Look for xperiafirm in the cross device development section, download it and run it. You can then download any FTF you want direct from Sony servers.

I know you see me annoying now, but hope you're still willing to help.
Do you care to explain what the difference is between using PRFCreator and the thread that explained how you rooted?
I mean, you can flash without rooting. So why don't people just flash with PRFCreator for root instead? Or is it because that you need root, before being able to flash a modified firmware?
Just curious, as I want to understand what i'm doing (as least as much as i'm able to)
Thanks in advance

Not annoying at all
To flash a ftf you are flashing stock so we can use flashtool, as we are using Sony files with Sony signatures.
Once you modify those files by adding root binaries etc we cannot sign then with sony's signatures as we do not know them, so you already have to be rooted.
You will also note that flashing ftf we didn't do the flashing of updates in recovery.... PRFCreator needs recovery to flash the update.zips.
FTF's have to be flashed in flashtool and it is impossible to make a pre rooted FTF file

Is there anything bad with using the AU version that is ready to download from http://forum.xda-developers.com/z3/development/stock-firmware-23-0-1-5-77-generic-t3012376?
As I downloaded the Nordic version, made it to a FTF file, following the guide copied from XDA, added superSU and Recovery, put Flashable.zip on my phone, flashed it from recovery (on the phone) got upgraded the firmware (so the ftf file worked correctly) but no SuperSU or Recovery. Both gone, now with newest firmware on phone.

You did something wrong when adding the flashable zips for supersu and dual recovery then
Ensure you have the flashable zip for recovery and not the one used to install recovery via the pc.
Do not unpack supersu from the download zip.
Flashing a different region on your phone will not brick the device but you may lose any specific regional apps or settings

It depends how xperiafirm downloads them, I have not used it. If it is in a FTF format then no do not unpack them. PRFCreator needs a FTF file.

Its very promising, but it might take the respective OPs of the relevant threads to update their scripts so that, for example, flashtool can decrypt the files and re-bundle it, and for Dual recovery to be installed and work correctly.
It all worked on other big upgrades, just don't expect the current tools/scripts to work immediately....
Hi,
I've got an Samsung Galaxy S7 which won't boot android anymore. this was after the phone was hot.
Recovery and download mode works. Is there a way to copy photos to a computer or sdcard somehow?
Thanks

If you connect your phone to your computer - Does the computer see the phone?
If you have your music and photos on the external sd card (if your pc doesn't see the phone) you could copy from the external sd card with a sd card reader - I believe that if you can boot into recovery that you can cope files from the phone to the pc as well.

no external sd card, otherwise there was no problem
Could we have some more information please?
Is the device Knox tripped or otherwise modified? (Rooted, custom recovery, custom firmware)
What's the model number?
What's the firmware build number?(The stock recovery will say).
Is the device encrypted?
(If you've set up Samsung Cloud or Google Photos backup you might have better luck there)
I don't think you can enter MTP mode with the phone only working from recovery and download mode. Simply install a ROM via TWRP but do not wipe internal storage. Once the phone boots up to android, retrieve your files.
Good luck
I'm able to boot in download mode.
Odin recognize the phone. is flashing possible without loosing data(only care about stuff on the internal SD card. loosing settings and apps is not a problem.

Official firmware, so likely encrypted. Boot into recovery and take note of the build number and CSC. Download the exact same firmware from a site like SamMobile. Using Odin, flash the BL, AP, CP and HOME_CSC(NOT the plain CSC) packages in the firmware package by placing them in their relevant slots. It will make like it's doing a system update and take long to boot, but should result in a workable device with your data intact.
hi seems that recovery not working either,i've tried but can't get into recovery. sometimes a red text appears on the top left screen. something about sandforcing.

What about this? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cyCileqUVFQ they seems to flash only AP. Whats the different in results of flashing only AP or Flash AP, BL, CP and HOME_CSC?

Samsung old and new style of firmware packaging. They used to place all parts into a single package(AP), customised per region. This had the disadvantage of requiring a complete different firmware package for every region with little actual differences. New Samsung firmware comes broken up into the BL(bootloader), AP(system, kernel, recovery), CP(modem firmware) and CSC(recovery package which applies all region settings) packages. This way only the CSC needs to be changed per region.
At absolute minimum you should flash the AP and HOME_CSC/CSC package. (Though only if you're sure you're flashing the same firmware as the current or you may trip knox)
The general rule is if you flash AP, then CSC must be flashed aswell, otherwise the firmware becomes very buggy.
The regular CSC file wipes storage, while HOME_CSC does not, but will only work if the current CSC matches the firmware package
If you like you may use Smart Switch Emergency firmware recovery instead, but beware, as it's known to mess up more often than not

Did it perhaps say "SEAndroid not enforcing"? That means it's an unofficial recovery image. Not sure how that could happen. Seems like firmware was corrupted somehow.
thanks for explaining.
I've download the latest firmware from sammobile which contains these files:
AP_G935FXXU1DQE7_CL11104523_QB13505684_REV00_user_low_ship_meta.tar
BL_G935FXXU1DQE7_CL11104523_QB13505684_REV00_user_low_ship.tar

HOME_CSC_PHN_G935FPHN1DQD1_CL10939265_QB13310839_REV00_user_low_ship.tar
I want to save photos, so i try to flash AP and HOME_CSC using odin right?

Wrong firmware I'm afraid. Notice your screenshot says the device is a SM-G930F, these are SM-G935F files for the Galaxy S7 Edge. Also, since we don't know what firmware revision the device is on, you *need* to flash the BL and CP parts too.
Could you please check the bottom of your box? You need the three-letter CSC code. If you get it wrong your data is toast.
So final process is:
1. Check your box for the CSC code
2. Select your CSC in the "Select Country" dropdown https://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/galaxy-s7/SM-G930F/
3. Download the latest firmware
4. Flash BL, AP, CP and HOME_CSC from the package.
5. Device should auto-reboot and will ask you for your lockscreen passphrase.
oops, sorry. copy paste the wrong files.
i meant these files:
AP_G930FXXU1DQE7_CL11104523_QB13505661_REV00_user_low_ship_meta.tar
BL_G930FXXU1DQE7_CL11104523_QB13505661_REV00_user_low_ship.tar

this says the box. see attachment
tried to flash and now this message(see attachment)
what now?
found this on a other post.
just extract your firmware with win rar and copy recovery.img to your desktop
there is a tool for making .tar file from .img called tar-Tool .
with tar tool you can make .tar from .img files
convert recovery.img to recovery.tar with this tool
flash it in pda (AP) in odin . now you can go to recovery mode
then wipe data/factory reset and wipe cache
rebooot

That means Odin didnt finish one of its operations. You need to use Odin 3.12+. The device wont let you do anything else until it registers a successful flash in download mode.
I think it's best to just use Smart Switch.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/tmobile-galaxy-s6-edge/help/flash-stock-firmware-using-samsung-t3079176
Video is for S6, but the process is the same.
Beware that the internal SD will be wiped, but since the CSC is nowhere to be seen I think thats the only way, sorry.
EDIT:
Getting back to download mode:

hi all, I've managed to brick my SM-P900.
Could someone point me to where I can get an Odin flashable rom please, with all the individual bits such as PDA / Phone / CSC.
I can't flash normal roms, it's not working with just the md5. Ideally stock, but happy with any rom as I can flash something else with TWRP.
I can't use any of the normal samsung sites as they're paid, and I'm broke =(
I would really appreciate it if you could help me fix this.
Many thanks

Sorry, don't understand.
Problems or just interested as well?
Nope, not solved, tried for ages, but ODIN doesn't flash it, just gets stuck on initialising.... I'm completely out of ideas!

Just tried downloading it and I get .tar.md5 file, not sure how i did it but from a previous attempt at fixing it, I have the same thing but in seperate files, with boot, cache, hidden, recovery s boot and system. Do i need to put them into odin? where do they go? I get stuck on initialising, tried pulling out cable and putting it back in, then it says it can't find a pit partition... tried flashing a pit file but still stuck on initiailising so pit doesn't flash.
@Zophixan the files you see, are in the opened archive.
Where did you get the file from?
You should have downloaded and decrypted 3 (P900) or 4-5(P905) separate files all ending md5 when using samfirm.
When there is only one you obviously have NOT the multiple part stock ROM.
Which Odin using?

I've tried odin 3.07 and 1.85. I downloaded samfirm_reborn and upon use it downloaded just one file "SM-P900_1_20170222195126_gly008r5gf.zip" and inside it is the tar md5. Where can I get the separate items?
Even if I am not using the seperated one, shouldn't odin flash? It's always stuck on intiailising, I don't know if this matters but it says knox warranty 0500 on the download screen, and custom kernal / binary.
I remember having a similiar problem years ago on the same tablet but no idea how I fixed it, vaguely remember downloading seperate files to flash in each of the odin sections.
thanks.
EDIT, found the binary option nature option, will download now and try flashing each bit and report back...

Still stuck on initializing, tried samsung drivers, even tried heimdall (and installed it's drivers), is there anything else I can try?
It says AP SWREV A1 and know warranty voide 0500, and current binary / system status as custom on the tablet.
Try a newer Odin.
I recommend at least 3.09.
What it says in DL mode is just information and no failure afaik.

I tried both 3.10 and 3.09 but still stuck on initialisation... (do i need to do anything with CP or UMS field?),
does the current binary/ system status as custom ,or AP SWREV A1, or knox warranty mean anything?
Do you have any other suggestions, I can't think of anything else! =(
Knox was triggered when flashing other than stock.
Forget about it.
Other is shown on mine as well.
CP stays empty at WiFi models.
UMS I've never did anything with.
Try to use other cables and USB ports.
