About flashing radio without rooting? - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket SGH-I727

Hi guys,
I'm using Samsung galaxy 2 skyrocket (originally from att) with a different carrier.
I want to use the internet with t-mobile radio but right now, it's getting only edge speed internet (with the carrier I got 'simple mobile'.) - sooo slow!
I searched and found out that I can flash the radio with blaze 4g lb 7 radio file, so I downloaded and got it as zip file.
The problem is it's not compatible with odin.
I need to find .tar file to run it with odin because I don't want to root the phone.
Because the person said that I can just flash radio with the file through odin.
So my questions are
1. Is it possible to do this way?
2. If so, can you send me .tar file for this? (or tell me how to make one, or how to convert the .zip file to .tar file)
3. Can you tell me how to flash radio with this method more specifically?
Thanks so much!

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1507825 this thread has radio downloads compatible with tmobile, you will need to root and install the zip file you want in rom manager. Here you can find arguably the most user friendly way to root your phone http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1677092

Flash a custom recovery, ANY recovery. The easiest way that comes to mind is go to the all in one root thread and only do the first part. Use Odin and flash the cwm 5.0.2.6 recovery. Then simply download the blaze radio to ur sim card and flash it from there. Please note that blaze requires ics, it won't work on stock gb, or gb period, so make sure u at the very least Odin ics stock
Hit thanks if i helped

imo stay away from cwm 5.0.2.6, use one of the recoveries in the 1st link in my sig

i9023 Firmware for Odin

Hey guys! I'm trying to fix a Vodafone Nexus S that's having some serious issues. I'm pretty sure there is something wrong with the SD as in it's fried. I can either boot into Fastboot or Download mode. My computer won't pick up the phone in fastboot though, but it does with odin. I have the USB drivers installed. When I mount the SD to the computer, everytime it says that the sd card must be formatted in order to use it. So, if I do that, not using quick format, and then check to see if it was formatted, it shows everything on the card still. Or, it says Windows unable to perform Format. I just can't access anything like the backup or the ROM to reflash it. I'm hoping that by flashing a stock firmware with odin, I may be able to boot the phone into the OS and then maybe figure out what's wrong with the SD card. Right now, if I try to reboot the phone it just goes back into CWM. But, I can't find a version for the i9023 that will work on Australian Vodafone. I've searched but haven't had any luck. Would someone be able to help me or to point me in the right direction? I'd appreciate it greatly!
Odin is a tool for flashing Samsung firmware on Samsung phones only! Although the nexus s is built by Samsung it does not use Odin for flashing firmware so you will never find anything that will work with Odin.
If you can get into CWM does the card mount ok through that? Goto mounts and storage >> mount USB storage. If that works then you can copy over your CWM flashable ROM and then flash away.
You should be able to flash official firmware using from fastboot mode using ADB too. Im sure there is a guide on here somewhere.

I've flashed my i9023 with Odin, several times. Found everything I needed at samfirmware.com (you must register as a user to download)
These typos came from my i9023
Yes, Nexus S can use Odin

Really! Wow I never realised! Apologies for mis-informing.

Beautiful! Thank you all for the help. I'll have a look when I get home. Hopefully, throwing a new firmware on the phone will get it up and running again.

EDIT: So, I checked on samfirmware.com and there isn't a firmware listed for Australia or Vodafone. Is there one that would work on the version that I have or am I out of luck?

Root p3100 with a single file(without flashing bootloader, odin, heimdall, counter+1)

I rooted my G-9100I by just installing one .zip via original bootloader/installer (without flashing any CWM / bootloader via odin, heimdall, counter +1, whatever)
Now I'm wondering if there's any way doing it with the GT-P3100
I think the problem is that the install file has to have a valid signature...
So is there a (valid signed) single "root file" for the GT-P3100? (Using original stock rom 4.1.1)
All files I found so far have invalid signatures :crying:

Hi Brad... thx 4 reply
this file (CF-Auto-Root-espressorf-espressorfxx-gtp3100.zip) is based on a custom bootloader (wich has to be installed by Odin) and will increase the flashcounter as well...
I'm looking for a valid signed .zip WITHOUT using a custom bootloader.tar.md5

Hey, check out my thread on rooting tab 2. It uses cf autoroot but the good thing is that i have the instructions there on how to reset the flash counter to zero after flashing and keeping your warranty safe.

Hey Kunal thx for the hint but I want to keep the original bootloader - there must be a way to sign the paket so you don't need to update the loader
it is not possible to root p3100 without flashing, odin, raising flash counter
as to root first you got to
1.flash cwm recovery and them root
2.directly flash root package
3.flash pre rooted firmware
everything offer flashing.
its like flashing firmware without using any odin mobile one or pc one
so
what's the big deal flash cf auto root and use triangle away to reset.
i wanted one too

well not that odin and then triangle away is bad, but i have to say it's unsafe and trying to get the drivers installed and working is a real pain.
I too rooted my friend's sgs2 with the same way as c-tec, and i must say that was the best experience of rooting ever. not even 10 seconds and its so easy and u dont lose ur warranty...
so I think that if there isn't one, there should be one....
well another way to not lose ur warranty and be rooted
there were some pre rooted stock roms(4.1.x) in the forum somewhere with wipe and no wipe option( for many countries), they could be flashed via odin.
that's the best way to avoid using triangle away and be rooted(at least what i could find).
then if u like custom roms then use rom manager to flash cwm and u r good to go for custom roms without actually increasing the flash counter.
Cheers
right...

Right a1shakes - that's my point - maybe I try that modyfied stock rom (later) ...
but I'm still impressed by that single file (for SGS2) - I also tried those On-Click Tools via ADB - but it seems that those exploits only work on 4.0.4 roms for the P3100.
I will get back to this post if I found another way

If you are flashing a pre-rooted official firmware with odin, it too increases the flash counter on the tablet.

Just wondering if you can provide the link to the unity mod you used. I have been toying with the idea of trying some of the rooms for for the S5 SM-G900W8 hoping they will be similar enough. Ideal world I would love to get cyanogen or liquid smooth on this thing. Thanks for your help.
Sure here's the link.

Does modem and boot-loader have to be same version?

If I'm flashing the modem and BL separately via ODIN, do they have to be the same version?
Also, where is the best place to get ODIN flashable modems and BLs?
Thanks,

It should be good to have the same, but it is not an issue at all when they are not.
Wanam'S ROM
I use the ODIN ready packaged files from Wanam's AFH (you just need to extract them and flash in ODIN AP mode).
The numbers represent the version of his ROM, inside each folder you'll find the corresponding MODEM/BL package
i use different versions for a long time and never had any issues.

SO will the OIA work on Tmo? That's the latest I found from his ROM, correct?

Can't Install Android Revolution 50.2 (latest) in Verizon M8

Hi,
I'm trying to install the latest version of the ROM Android Revolution, which I found on this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2694917
My phone is Verizon so I downloaded the zip called "Android_Revolution_HD-One_M8_50.2_76b56b.zip"
But although the installation process runs smoothly and says it worked perfectly... when the phone is rebooted I can't pass from the bootloader screen.
This is my bootloader screen
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BwRKcAC_V-OsTEw0d2ZmYml4b1E/view?usp=sharing
Can someone help me figure this out?
Thanks
EDIT________________________________
I've been reading the last 60 pages(or so) in the ARHD thread, and for what I understand some people claim that they've been able to use it on verizon or sprint devices, althought others says that the ROM is not compatible with them... Anyway, I'm having some hope from some posts that claim that to use this ROM with Verizon you have to flash a compatible Verizon Kernel just after installing the ROM and before the first boot.
Here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=64435593&postcount=5962, Einwod claims so.
But I have no idea where I can find that "verizon compatible kernel" and how to install it.
Any comments are really appreciated!!!
Regards.

I hv verizon m8 and i m also on latest version of arhd.
Here is the thing - if u r using GSM SIM go ahead with what i say. If using CDMA then only use verzon compatible ROM.
If u hv MM rom like skydragon, S.ROM or any other that says multi carrier support extract boot.img from that particular rom.zip
Now if u hv twrp
Flash ARHD
Then select flash img in twrp(under install tab)
Select boot.img file it will give 2 options select boot, flash it ur phone will boot up.
If CWM or Philz also works for TWRP
Open arhd rom.zip on pc replace boot.img with that of all carrier rom. Put the new zip file on ur m8 and flash it.
Thts it.
If u cant figure out boot.img part tell me i will provide u with boot.img
Thanks!
I'll check it out and let you know if I have any doubt.
