No go
Just tried. Followed steps, installed ROM successfully. However when attempting to install gapps restart to recovery goes to android recovery not twrp. Cannot then mount the sdcard to install gapps. Will try via ADB sideload later when I get back from work. Either way, the TWRP recovery gone.

I presume the only way back if that doesnt work is go flash stock rom and re-root and reflash recovery again?

Reflash recovery with fastboot should work.
Did you boot the tablet and is the rom working?

You aren't doing anything wrong!
Twrp doesn't recornize the file system because it is a block device image.
Do a full wipe including system, flash the zip file.
Reboot.
Ignore the twrp error!

How do I update CWM?

I attempted to install a kernel, and flashed successfully but it will not boot, my phone just boots back into recovery. After doing a little more reading, I see that a version of cwm v6.0 or higher is required. I happen to be have 5.7 (I believe).
Is there a safe way to uninstall and re-install the newer version or a safe way to update?
If you flashed a kernel to recovery, you won't have cwm.

download EZ recovery. once open slide to recovery (at the top) then at the bottom right select 6.0.1.0, bottom left select recovery and then flash. once you see flassh succesful then hit reboot into recovery.
Done
Then I guess it wasn't successful.
I downloaded the kernel and moved to SD card. Installed busybox. Rebooted to recovery and flashed the kernel's zip from cwm. It installs, then reboots two times and boots back to recovery with a long error message at the bottom. The only way to boot the phone is to reinstall the rom.
I'm running synergy 1.7 and trying to install imo's kernel. I'm on cwm 5.8

Does the phone boot into the rom? Or does it boot straight to recovery?
Edit: Restore a nandroid if you can. Then use ez-Recovery to install cwm 6.0.1.0

Does not boot to rom, boots back to recovery. I have to re install the rom to be able to boot.
The only backup I have is from syenergy 1.3. I'll give the ez recovery a shot.

Yeah if restoring a nandroid puts you back into the rom, then use ez-Recovery. If not, you'll just have to Odin back to stock.

Download EZ recovery from the market. Then install CWM 6.0.1.0 from within the app, you MUST have that version installed because it supports kexec, which is what imoseyons kernel uses to be able to bootup, and have a custom kernel and recovery at the same time. After flashing the recovery boot into recovery and flash the kernel. Your phone will boot up 2-3 times every time you restart the phone, thats normal though

I've only installed it once before. Its not like I do that every time I install a rom, so I had completely forgot how to do it.

where to download CWM 6.0.1.0 for Galaxy S3 SCH-I535?
Can someone repost the CWM 6.0.1.0 for the Samsung Galaxy S3 SCH-I535? The link to the file in the forum showed that the file is removed. I just rooted my new S3 and need the CWM 6.0.1.0 to load with EZ recovery. My download of EZ Recovery only has version 5.8.xx

Every rom has a recovery, you just cannot reach it via keypress.
So,how can you boot into recovery on stock kernel?
Xperia devices doesnt have recovery partition, that is why recovery must be compiled in kernel

Use an Xposed toolbox (Like GravityBox) to extend the power menu. Inside the power menu, press reboot and than recovery.
After 15 seconds you will be inside the recovery. Xperia devices don't have a seperate recovery partition.

[help plz]Kernel problem only booting on kk on which wifi and bluetooth not working

This is a very wierd problem I have experienced in my life with My senny.
I recently sold my sensation to my friend running 4.1.2 sense 5 viper 5.3.0.
it was clocked at 1.4 ghz so it was draining battery very fast, so my friend discussed this problem with me, so I under clocked it to 1180ghz using venom tweaks and I forgot to tick the option (apply changes at boot).
so he used the phone whole day after that when he reached home he powered off phone and left it for charging, after that when he switched on the phone get till boot animation and then it restarted and so this cycle continue going on and phone didn't booted up.
I re flashed rom but the problem still exist, I flashed kk and restored boot backup (which I made from 4ext recovery) so phone booted but the wifi and bluetooth doesn't turned on,
I again tried to flash viper 3.2.0 but the phone doesnt booted so I flashed its boot.img from linux using the command :sudo fastboot flash boot boot.img, it sent boot but still the phone didn't booted and restarted once the bootanimation was ending.
I flashed cm 11 kk again same issues exist there (bluetooth and wifi), then I flashed kk boot.img using linux but still the same issue exist.
now I want to know how can I get wifi and bluetooth back to work and boot other roms other than cm11 kk.
Whatshboot? N r u son or soff?
V u tried wi pop e evrything bt sd card?
N when restoring choose advance restore n dont restore cache, restore system, data n boot only.

But I don't think it is useful for me,
Because I've flashed these roms with s-on device using 4ext and yes smart flashed was enabled I've also tried writing boot.img using fastboot from windows but still no luck,
Only 4.4.4 kk cm11 by sultan is booting no other roms are booting although the last working rom (before this problem) was viper 3.2.0

T-Mobile Alcatel Pixi 7 (9006w) - What is safe to keep from ota.zip?

I captured the URL for today's OTA update on the T-Mobile Alcatel 9006w via logcat
Code:
wget -O 9006W-2ATBUS1-ota-update.zip http://g2slave-us-east-01.tctmobile.com/19d1572684cd9a2cfee8b0389e135120c36553fe/f74753b81536196fc732138ea00da035c00b8280/105022/69647
I want to use this and a system dump to create a stock rooted .zip, and possibly a separate firmware update.
I am pretty sure I can handle getting /system into a flashable .zip, but I have no idea where to start with a flashable firmware update. I have no clue where to start in order to make sure we don't break fastboot and/or TWRP.
Does anyone have any experience pulling the good stuff out of an OTA?
We should first get a flashable stock .zip. Then a flashable update .zip. We can always make a flashable firmware .zip later.

Ill know in a couple minutes here. You'll need to flash back to stock before doing the update.zip though. You can do the update through twrp np. Keep your fingers crossed.

No. You have to reflash the stock recovery else the update won't start. Or it'll go to twrp and do nothing.

I recently got a notification to download a newer update. I'm in the process of reverting to stock and allow the update to proceed. I would like to get a stock system image once that has completed. Please advise the best way to do this so that I can share it.
Thanks.

Can't Boot Into LP After Flashing Firmware With TWRP & Fastboot

Hi
I have a Moto G 4G (Peregrine, XT1039) and I'm trying to install some stripped down stock ROMS, which I will be then encrypting under Android. One ROM I particularary liked was lost101's optimised version, but no matter what encrypting thr device just never worked. I have tried flashing unpackaged stock ROMS via mfastboot and have also tried flashing zips in TWRP. However, presently every time I reboot/boot the device it just goes straight into TWRP.
Will
Have you tried: Identity Crisis 6 LTE ?
Also there is a Stock ROM debloat script: [SCRIPT][CWM] NoMoto - Stock ROM Debloat Scripts (KitKat | Lollipop)

I already tried the Identity Crisis 6 but the encryption didn't work. Even ignoring the fact the encryption doesn't work my phone still booted into TWRP after flashing Identity Crisis 6 LTE.

How do you get the ROM to boot then?
The ROM still isn't working. The flash seems successful but always boot straight into TWRP.

Select system I suppose. Shall I go back into the recovery from being off, or shall I repeat the flash procedure then do the above?

Use the Bootloader option in TWRP, as shown in the screenshot.

It looked promising. Vibrates and stays on Google pad lock screen then went back into TWRP. However, I repeated it again a second time and if by magic it works.
What I don't get is why it's working but not with the stock LP ROMS? Also why the 'system' option didn't work from the reboot screen within TWRP?

This method should work with all ROMs. I've seen this problem before reported by users. You may have to live with it, if reflashing TWRP makes no difference. I think it may be a symptom of corruption on the phone that cannot be repaired.

So basically after a flash select
'Reboot System> Bootloader > Normal Powerup'?

No. In TWRP:
Reboot > Bootloader > Normal Powerup
or maybe just:
Reboot > System

How much of a difference did changing the file system to EXT4 for the cache and system partitions, because obviously whilst wiping in TWRP I didn't receive any more mount errors?

The default filesystem is ext4 for system. Only /data is f2fs.
Now that is sorted I need to make sure the encryption function works.

Why is in the original thread I received error messages saying the those partitions couldn't be mounted? By the way I would like to participate in making a guide for all this help I've received. It'll be useful for others so they don't mess anything up like I did.

Rebooting TWRP usually solves those mounting issues.
