[Completed] Second partition (ext2) not visible in File Explorer - XDA Assist

I partitioned my sd card with AParted app. After I did it I saw three local drives on my file Explorer (ES File Explorer) - one internal and two external (as expected). And also I was able to see these three partitions when connected to PC. And I was able to mount the second partition in Link2SD app. After few days, the second partition disappeared from the explorer somehow. I don't know the cause of it. But I am still able to mount the second partition in Link2SD. And I have no problem in linking the apps to the second partition. Is there any way to make the second partition folder reappear again in the file Explorer.
Phone : Samsung S Duos
Second partition : ext2

Hi
Thanks for using XDA Assist.
Try posting your question in the Q&A section of your device:
Galaxy S Duos Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Solution : Location of other partitions of SD Card
Second partition (or any partition) can be found on the root folder of any phone. Just Go to the following folder which has the path :
/data/sdext2
(If the required partition format is ext2)
If some other format is present, then the innermost folder may have a different name.
Try searching by name of the format or something like that.

Hi Primokorn
Thank you for suggesting to post this question in my device Q&A section. But I don't find the need in that. I believe this is a common question which do not require any information particular to any phone. Anyway, thanks for your concern.

Actually it can be device specific e.g there’s no sdext2 folder into /data partition for the Nexus 5.
Glad to know you got it fixed

[Completed] I've paid for link2sd plus but it doesn't work!

Hi,
first of all sorry for my english.
I like very much your app. I use your app in all phones. When a friend asks me how can he boost his phone, i suggest him to install link2sd because is the only app that move all apps into external sd.
But i have a problem. In my phone, when i have upgrated to KitKat version of Andoid, Link2sd doesn't work with the second partition. I've tried to format the second partition in ext2, and Link2sd said me that "script cannot be created".
I've tried to format the second partition in ext3, but it was the same. I've tried to format the second partition in f2fs, but it was the same.
Only in ext4 Link2sd can create the script and it can see the second partition!!
But when i link an app to the second partition, it doesn't and say me "reboot the phone".
When i've rebooted the phone, the app that i've linked is corrupted.
I researched on internet and it seems that is a problem of Kitkat that prevent to write in the external storage. So i've resolved this problem with this tutorial --> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2524277
But Link2sd still does not work....
My device name is: 706v92_jbla_fhd
Finally, i want to say that with Jelly bean version of Android, Link2sd was perfect and it worked very well. Now, with Kitkat Android, i cannot link apps to second partition!!
What can i do??

[Completed] How me to create symlink?

The problem is that the sdcard is mounted as /storage/sdcard1/ and games with big cache and the cache is not possible to install on the inner memory of the phone. Because she is only 2 gb, my phone samsung wave 2. Rom - lion droid v6 5.1.1.
And when I write in terminal emulator "ln-s /sdcard/ /storage/sdcard1/" the terminal responds ln: /storage/sdcard1//: File exists. How, then, to correctly create a symlink? What am I doing wrong? Tried to do the same when /system is mounted with write permissions rw.

[Completed] Help for LINK2SD Second Partition

Hello, I am Prakhar Mishra, and I own a Micromax Canvas Viva a72. It runs on Gingerbread. It's internal space is really low. Before this, I had rooted it and made a second partition and used Link2SD for storing apps in it. It worked perfectly. Today, I factory reseted my phone, formatted the SD card and create the second partition like before (Ext2). Now, the system detects the Ext2 Partition. But LINK2SD doesnt detect it. It says Failed to create mount scripts. I followed all steps and created the second partition numerous times as Ext2, Ext3, etc. I even tried to use another SD card. But I have the same error. My phone is rooted. Please tell me if there is any solution to this problem, I really need LINK2SD for linking my app's data.

Hello, and welcome to XDA!
As there is little resources about your device, all I can really suggest is the non-specific forum:
> Android Development and Hacking > Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting > [Ask Any Question][Newbie Friendly]
Or you can post in the Link2SD thread:
> Android Development and Hacking > Android Apps and Games > [APP][1.6+] Link2SD
Hope this helps, and good luck!
If @xzy99 posts a follow up question in this thread, please do not delete it. He is the OP. See this thread for more details.

[Completed] [Question] Writing to external sd card Specifically with ES File Manager!

I have a Sprint Galaxy Note $ Running Stock og5 Rom Rooted via Beast Mode TWRP then Play update, then flashed to Plazma Kernel. I have modified the /etc/permissions/platfom.xml file to include Group Id media_rw in the write to external storage permission and mounted the /mnt/media_rw/estSDcard as r/w in the root explorer portion of ES File Manager and it seemed to work fine for as long as I can remember but now if I try to copy or paste or send something to /storage/extSDcard it is created asychrously and ends up in the LOST.dir folder after a simple unmount remount or reboot or SDcard pull. Other apps are having the same problems like app backup restore and Btitorrent and others when trying to write directly to extSDcard I even went ass far as adding sdcard_all to the aforementioned gid permission set. It seems like such an obvious thing that has been overlooked by develpoers of the rom. I can create masting folders "no asychronously' if I do so buy navigating to /mnt/media_rw/extSDcard rather than /storage/extSDcard and they'll last but not all programs will allow that directory in their settings. Furthermore ES download Manager won't function with either directory and will not allow their app backup file to be saved the /mnt directory. only /0 or /storage/extSDcard.
I have exhausted my abilities with this and have no answer also It seems to be a new problem, and I haven't done anything I can think of to cause this. Partition table is 55000mb Fat32 17009mb ext4 journal partition on the extSDcard. Any Ideas?
Below you can see The before and after of unmounting and remounting my sd card resulting in Populated Lost.dir and loss of created folders also you can see the way that all nav methods resultu in same permission set when checked with a root explorer "total Commander"
wELL i DON'T KNOW WHY BUT REFORMATTING THE SD CARD TO A SINGLE FAT 32 VOLUME SOLVED THE LEAK. i FIRST TRIED AN ALTERNATE SD CARD WITH A SIMILAR PATITION TABLE (EXT2/FAT32) BUT HAD THE SAME PROBLEMS EXCEPT THE DATA WOULD SIMPLY BE GONE INSTEAD OF IN THE LOST.DIR FOLDER. i HAVE YET TO IMPLEMENT THIS TO MY PRIMARY USE SD CARD because of the fact that I have backups and files that I need on that card from before the leak. I anticipate the same results, fingers crossed.
If ANYONE has any incite into why the partition table set up as it was would affect the retention of data in this manner please let me know.
PLEASE PLEASE let me know
Hello,
Try posting your question/issue in the ROM/kernel thread where you got them or their dedicated Q&A thread(if it has one) or even PM the developer in case its something he isn't aware of, he may want to try and solve it so his ROM has no issues.
I hope this helps. Good luck.

Thanks, I was using stock rom though. And the caps lock was an accident, at any rate i have changed roms and the issue appeared to be a faulty sd card to begin with. I wasn't able to retain data from my reader writer to phone on my primary sd ince reformatted but was when I used a different one. Anyway thanks for the advice and I will use it if I have different questions

[Completed] Android second SD partition question

Hi.
I'm having trouble with my android system.
I have a microSD with 2 partitions, first one is classic FAT32, second one is ext4 (mainly used for link2sd and other stuff). I would like to write a file that is more tha 4Gb (so over the 4Gb limit of FAT32) on that second partition, if possible by 2 means. Of course my phone is rooted. So here are my questions:
- Is it possible to see the second partition from windows when USB cable is plugged (maybe with a software? or via linux?) and then transfer the file.
- Is it possible to write to that partition directly from an app ? I was looking for some way to create a symlink in first partition to second, but it seems impossible on android systems.
- Is it possible to format the first partition to ext4, and still be able to use it as normal (windows file transfer, app reading/writing, etc...)?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Rox.
