[Q] Problems with blutooth audio since Marshmallow - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I'm using my Nexus 5 to play music via blutooth in my car. At the same time it is connected via blutooth to an ELM327-OBD-II-dongle to display engine data using torque. This worked fine on Lollipop (stock, rooted).
Since upgrading to Marshmallow (stock, rooted) audio stutters (a short "break" every few seconds). The problem disappears when I stop torque; I also tried using a different music player, but that did not help.
Has anybody experienced something similiar and/or have an idea what I could try to fix this?
Thank you,
Joerg

Turning of "Fast communication" and turning on "ELM AutoTiming (slow)" instead in Torque's ODB2 adapter settings resolved the audio problem; updates in torque are much slower then before, but that's ok for me.

[Q] Nexus S bluetooth problems

Hey guys
Strange issue here. I paired my phone with my car through Bluetooth to make and receive calls using the car audio system. It works well.
However, if I fire Google Navigation, I can't here the spoken instructions through either the phone speaker or the car speakers.
I was not expecting navigation audio to be routed through Bluetooth audio, but I did expect the navigation instructions to come out of the phone speaker, as it does on the nexus one or the vibrant both running Android 2.2.
Is anybody else having this issue?
Thanks

did you flash a new kernel or anything because the kernel in the dev thread is known to break bluetooth
if it does this stock out of the box try doing a system restore and then take it back if its still acting up because bluetooth should turn on
yea i used the pkg one that had SU etc on it. Suppose Ill have to flash back to stock arg.
just so peeps know with the bt issue flashing this fixed

Bluetooth doesn't stream audio to car - what's your experience
I've got a Ford Edge with the new Ford MyTouch/Sync system.
The Nexus S connects to the Bluetooth just fine; makes and receives calls perfectly. It will also connect to the Bluetooth Audio Stream for music playback, but won't play the audio over the car's speakers. Also, sometimes it connects, holds the connection for just a few seconds and then disconnects. My SGS and Nexus One work as expected, as does the iPhone, so it doesn't appear to be an issue with the car.
Seems like a bug in the NS to me.
I'm curious if others are streaming audio/music to their auto's BT system without issues?
It would be especially nice to know what anyone else with a new Ford/Lincoln is experiencing, but I'd also like to compile a list of what cars work and what don't.
I'm going to have to find some other BT device that I can test the stream on to see if my phone works with it or not. Maybe my Nexus One dock? I've never used that to stream audio even with the Nexus One.
In terms of troubleshooting my problem, I've already rebooted the phone and the car, un-paired and re-paired the phone with the car.
I've got a Mazda RX8 R3 and the NS will pair with the in-built car BT but drops the connection after a few minutes. It then refuses to connect again unless I re-pair, then a few minutes later it drops and we're back to square one.
The car's in-built BT worked fine with my HTC Desire, Hero, iPhone 3G and Blackberry 9700 so I'm guessing the Nexus S has a Bluetooth issue.
Mine works fine on my aftermarket Sony receiver.
having issues with bluetooth audio too, stream keeps breaking every now and then. Any fixes?
I've only streamed to the car stereo and had no issues. The phone is only about 10cms away.
Haven't tried my BT headphones yet, maybe range is the issue.
*On original ROM.

tried placing the phone right next the the BT reciever and same problem. Only tried this once, maybe I'll try rebooting the phone.
no problem here
using Bionix 1.2
You're lucky, I can't even get BT music streaming to work with my car. No other BT devices to check with besides my Nexus One dock, which has no speakers.
BT works great for the phone, though, to make and receive calls.
Problem with Bluetooth
I cant get to work bluetooth on Nexus S.
When i enable it and try to send something from SGS to Nexus S it says me "This tranfer was canceled by the user" (Nexus S)
SGS says "Remote device rejected your request"
When i try send something from Nexus S, but use not function Send, i use function Bluetooth - it says me "The application Bluetooth Share (process com.android.bluetooth) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again"
I tried factory reset, wipe cache, tried flash any other roms, but got NOTHING helpt me. I have this problem on 2 phones (2xNS).
Can someone give me files of BlueTooth share? (com.android.bluetooth)
That's an interesting problem you have. Mine did the same thing transfering from my computer to my NS. I just tried it again when I read your post (to make completely sure what the error was) and it has automagically fixed its self.
Well, seems i need a file \system\app\bluetooth.apk

[Q] Bluetooth will pair, but won't connect to media audio

I am running CleanROM 7 (touchwiz basec ICS ROM) on my S3 and I've been using it in my car with a tunelink auto BT adapter that outputs to my aux port.
Lately, for seemingly no reason, the phone has stopped connecting the tunelink to media audio. The device is paired but never connects to media audio. When I have both devices on, under the BT menu on the phone I go to the tunelink device settings and try to check the box that says "media audio" it blinks for a second, sometimes it will say "connecting..." but then just stops and the check box never sets and it never connects to the device (the BT icon in the status bar never turns blue)
I just tried installing the latest firmware (modem) with no luck. I've rebooted, fixed permissions, with no luck. I just gave up in a battle to get BT audio to work with AOSP based ROMs (it was distorted and skipping) so I've just about had it with BT problems. I went back to CleanROM because I had been using it before I tried AOSP for a very long time with no issue. Does anyone have any ideas how I can fix this? Any insight is appreciated!
Any luck with this? I have a new Nexus 6 that I'm having the same problem with. Before my old Nexus 5 I had no issues.

[Q] Bluetooth reconnecting every 10 minutes

Hi all,
Been reasonably happy with the z3 so far but I'm having problems with Bluetooth connectivity, specifically in my car. I'm used to an iphone, which works flawlessly, but the z3 only seems to be able retain a connection for 10 mins before slowly reconnecting. It's become frustrating as it restarts some of my tasker profiles(?).
Has anyone else had similar issues? Are there any known fixes for this?
I've tried turning off stamina, wifi, bluetooth timeout, display timeout, re-pairing my device - nothing has helped!
Cheers,
Russ

The normal Stamina mode (not ultra) won't disconnect any connection just limit background process.
This can be bug in firmware So try to repair it by PC companion
+ and a question; is this happen with another bluetooth devices or just with car?
cause if it happen with car it can be software compatibility & ...
Thanks for the reply. I thought I would update.
I did try checking for firmware updates but I found a different solution shortly after. I downloaded the 'Xperia Z1 Bluetooth Fix' from the google play store, installed it and selected the Tune2Air device (when it was in range). Since then I've had no reconnecting problems! I have no idea what the app has done but it has completely solved the issues I was having. I suggest giving it a go if you are having similar symptoms. :good:

I get this all the time, constant every couple of seconds when connected to my Mercedes Comand unit..
I will download this app and test it out, hopefully it sorts it.
I have Volvo V40 and when I step in my car with my bluetooth on, I see on my Z3 Bluetooth connect and then disconnect. This repeats all the time. When I then disable bluetooth and enable, the problem is gone. I don't know for sure, but what I have see on my car's phone menu, although I get these disconnects on my phone , the disconnects are not noticed by my car. But again, I didn't look into that yet. Do you have similar problems?
Hi all,
Great to know im not crazy bcuz im having the same issues in my toyota as the volvo. My phone automatically tries to pair & sometimes this works flawlessly, yet other times it connects, stalls, then spends an age tring to reconnect & all the while the cars head unit still perceives a connection. What i hav noticed is that i get great connections (fast & from where i left off) when i pause before switching off my car. If i dont pause then i need to manually connect even if the phone says its pairing with my car. Iv come from a nokia n8 which worked flawlessly however i could not control the volume from the phone which i can do from the z3 & i was wondering if the problem could be with either the phone or stereo having conflicting memory of what was last played, volume level , etc. As there must be data stored somewhere on either or both devices.
Look at this page for an explanation of Sony, seems to be a problem from the bluetooth version of the car:
https://talk.sonymobile.com/t5/Xper...s-connecting-disconnecting/td-p/853609/page/2
I dont think its necessarily the car as the problem i outlined is resolved if i pause the playing music before cutting power. I should correct an earlier comment. My problem is with playing music from my phones harddrive via a player such as the native music player, vlc music player, music visualiser, etc rather than streaming music so im not sure what peolpe using cloud services or internet radio can do.
Does anyone know why pausing the music before leaving the car is necessary when in my experience using bluetooth 3.0 didnt require this?

[Q] Force phone audio to phone earpiece when connected to Bluetooth device.

Hi, I recently flashed my phone (Galaxy Note 3) with CM 11 and my Galaxy Gear with null_23.
I connected the two of them via Bluetooth and everything seemed to work perfectly, until someone called me...
That was when I noticed that my phone forwards my audio to my gear speakers as it counts equivalently to any bluetooth earpiece. I tried unchecking Phone audio profile in bluetoth device settings but that completely disconnects my gear. (I should probably also mention the reason I want them connected is cause I'm using Bluetooth tethering for internet access on my gear).
I tried using an app I found called SoundAbout that forced audio device but it did so by (unchecking phone audio profile?) disconnecting the gear entirely.. which is not preferable.
I have been trying to search around for any info on how to do this, but all I've ever found has been to do the opposite, force bluetooth over other outputs.
Currently I have to change the output manually every time I answer/call someone, which takes a few sec where the other party wonders why I'm not responding..
I thought I would be able to change default phone audio output in my phone app or something, but no, no such setting is available.. its frustrating to be stuck with so little customisation even after invreasing it with a custom ROM... dang..
Thanks for any help!

Bluetooth disconnects when music/video is buffering

Hello xda,
I recently put Bluetooth into an old boombox from the eighties. It works great, except with my galaxy s4.
Bluetooth keeps on disconnecting, rapidly reconnecting and disconnecting again whenever I try to stream via Google play music or YouTube for example. My s4 disconnects the bluetooth device whenever the audio takes too much time to start streaming, which is always the case as I have a poor internet connection.
Why do I think it is related to the time it takes for audio to start streaming ?
- The boombox works fine with local files on my galaxy s4
- Streaming audio works fine when my s4 is connected to 4g or faster wifi, when there is no long buffering before a song starts playing.
- It works fine on all other devices I tested (nexus 10, laptop, moto g....), even when music has to buffer for 30+ seconds before it starts playing.
Pausing a song works fine though, and it stays connected for hours when nothing is being played
It must be related to my phone, it has the original Samsung lollipop firmware but it is rooted and has xposed installed (of course).
A factory reset is not an option, I have done way too many tweaks for that.
Has anyone been having this problem?
Is it possible to install a newer/different Bluetooth firmware?
Or does anyone know an app/ xposed module that prevents the phone from disconnecting a bluetooth device on it's own ?
Thank you in advance,
nxss4
