Choetech wireless fast charger brief review - Galaxy S6 Edge+ Accessories

Can't spend too much time or effort right now, but I think a new thread dedicated to this charger is warranted. I found this charger through this board, but there's no explicit thread (as far as I can tell)
I received mine yesterday, cost $35 on Amazon ( http://www.amazon.com/dp/B015351THO ). Shipping time was estimated at over a month, in reality it took about 10 days for me to get it from China, nice little surprise. No fast charge brick was included, but one is available for an extra $11 from Choetech. I'm using the one that came with my phone. It is crucial that a fast charge brick is used for this charger to work right.
So far this charger works great with my VZW variant edge 6+. I tried it first without a fast charge brick and it worked fine. When I use the fast charge brick it indicated that it is wireless fast charging. It seems slightly slower than if I plug it in to the fast charger, but faster than a normal (non-fast) charger. No problems overnight, woke up with a fully charged phone. No overheating. The really nice thing about this charger is that the indicator light goes out when I turn the room lights off, so I can sleep with it by my bed no problem.
Of note I have a Spigen thin clear case on the phone, it charged right through this case, no issues.

Replied on the other thread, but figured it would be more appropriate here.
So it works on the VZW variant? I had to return the Samsung Fast Wireless charger since it wouldn't work properly. Would always stop charging after 5 seconds or so. Read that Sprint and AT&T variants got a firmware update to address wireless charging issues. But of course, no VZW yet.

Yes, worked fine on my vzw variant.

Are you sure it was Samsung Fast Wireless Charger ?

Are you sure it was Samsung Fast Wireless Charger ? The problem was with the regular Samsung Wireless Charger. On the Samsung fast charger, "Fast Charger" is written on top surface and there is an exhaust system on bottom.

Didn't mean to offend your intelligence really! It's just that many were not aware that the one they are getting free with the phone isn't the one to utilize Samsung's new fast wireless charging capability! And I wasn't aware that the new one also has this same issue! Got one CHOETECH fast wireless charger today. Will try it.

No, I appreciate your post...know you were trying to be helpful. Just frustrated that Samsung's own charger doesn't work with my phone. Especially since their commercials are all over the TV touting the wireless charging capabilities of the N5 and S6 Edge+.
Will definitely try out the Choetech fast charger, especially since it's half the price of the Samsung charger.

The fast charging is working great so far.
Already got the white version of this Fast Wireless Charger at Amazon (http://www.amazon.com/dp/B015O4EZI4) . It's for 2-day shipping since I have Prime. I use it with the new Samsung Galaxy Note 5 & so far the fast charging is working great.

If u wanna actually see how much current your phones getting, download this free app, from the Play Store, Galaxy Charging.
You can use this info below that I'm going off memory, as a reference to see what you're getting
USB 1.0 or 2.0 (PC USB) = 500mA
USB 3.0 = 900 MA
USB 3.1 = 1500mA
Fast Charging = >1900mA
GALAXY CHARGING APP
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.abmantis.galaxychargingcurrent.free

Got this charger and the remaining time to fully charged is identical to what the original wall charger is showing that came with my s6 edge+

Im going to echo everybody else in here. Awesome device and saves you money in the long run. I have a video here
https://goo.gl/SHlM2Z
I have multiple wireless chargers. $3 cheapies, Samsung OEM, Spigen 3 coil wireless, and now this. This is by far the best one out of all of them. Just the fact that it has worked fast charging is great because you don't lose the charging speed that typically comes with wireless charging.
I tried this with a Note 5, S6, and a nexus 7. Worked well on all those devices with zero issues. The charger is heavier and feels sturdier than the other ones I have. I'm guessing whatever is inside to enable fast charging must be a pretty dense set of components.
Not sure if it's 3 coil but connects without issues every time. So far I haven't had an issue of having to mind it around to get it to connect. Tried with and without cases and haven't noticed a drop in charging time.
Definitely picking up a second one to leave at my office.

How fast does it charge up your S6 Edge+ anyway? It takes about 2h to 100% completely charge my Note 5. I always charge from about 10%.

I got my edge+ to 10% and when I put it on the charger it said 1 hour and 38 minutes until full charge.

I just ordered mines, I have the samsung fast charger but you have to remove the case off the phone for it to charge. I have a minimal case.

Just got this in the mail the other day. So far so good! Probably the best fast wireless charger you can get for the money. Performance seems very similar (pretty much identical or better) compared to the Samsung chargers, both normal and fast versions. Build quality seems sturdier than the Samsung oem ones. Love the auto-dimming light! No need to worry about a bright light emitting from the charger when the lights are low/off in your room. Works with both my Note 5 and S6 Edge+ without any issues. Also have been working with a few different cases on.
Would definitely recommend this Choetech charger for anyone looking to get great performance for a great price!

Has anyone else had heat issues while using this charger?
The past few nights I've noticed that my phone gets pretty hot while on the charger (with or w/out a case). When looking at the stats from my battery app, looks like the phone gets around 42-43 degrees Celsius. What's strange is that the temperature usually spikes after the phone has reached 100% charge and is still on the charger.

Actually did notice a little bit of a heat up, but nothing crazy hot or anything. It does say in their little pamphlet that it could get a little warmer than normal charging because it is inductive wireless charging.

It's up to $45 now... I just cant bring myself to spend that much on a wireless charger... Sorry guys- I'll wait for the price to go down...

I was concerned since my phone wasn't just warm, but hot to the touch. Seems that this only occurs once the phone has reached full charge and is trickle charging. Will keep an eye on it, don't want to damage my phone.

It's always been $45 with the quick charge adapter. $35 without the adapter. A whole lot cheaper than the $70 Samsung Fast Wireless Charger. I'm sure the prices will come down when more fast wireless charging products come to market...right now it's Samsung and Choetech.

Qi Wireless Charging Kit

I was looking at this wireless charging kit for my Galaxy S4 I337 and I wanted to check here before wasting any money. Is this a legit product that works well or something I should avoid? Is there anything better if this is garbage? Thanks all!
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Qi-Wireless...S_Cell_Phone_PDA_Chargers&hash=item2ecf1d5a17
The receiver looks like it should fit. Whether or not it abides by the Qi standard I wouldn't dare guess about that. It has no company markings, just the Qi logo. But that wouldn't affect the phone itself just if the pad/receiver were compatible with other pads/receivers. Lastly I'm not going to bet it really can do 1000mha but for $19 I'd give it a shot if I hadn't already bought a set a while back.

That one is kind of old school.
Look for two things:
Chip located in the gap left where you insert the sd card...results in better back fit.
NFC included on the insert---not "works with NFC", acutally has an NFC loop and the other two connector pads for NFC
I can't find the one I bought, but the Nillkin one looks similar to mine.
Can anyone post a link to the product that they use that works really well? There are tons out there and I just want to make sure I don't pick one that is known to be junk.
Aside from the wireless receivers that fit in the existing back cover, I have thought about getting this official back cover and then just a generic charging pad. If I won't be able to use a case with either, I may prefer the extra bulk this back cover will cause instead of something that fits in the existing back cover. If what you have works with cases, let me know what type of case you use too.

This charger and receiver work well for me, I picked these based on user reviews:
I can't post links, so look on Amazon for : PowerBot® PB1020 Qi Enabled Wireless Charger , and the : Zitrades(TM) 2013 Latest Qi Standard wireless Charger receiver pad
The pad is thin and fits within the stock back cover.
Cool, thanks!
I bought these:

they work exceptionally well, charges through thick cases (I use a Trident Aegis) and though it can be a bit finicky on placement, it works really well and charges at about 675mha. Not the fastest but still good.

I have bought more then 3 qi charger for my s4 few months ago (price range from $15 to $35), and I finally gave up on these charger.
The charging speed is incredible slow and sometime makes the phone hot. If you put a QI charger in your office, in a busy day and your battery level is low, if you count on the qi charger, then it'll be defiantly a night mare. I'll prefer to wait for the next generation wireless charging technology to come available.

very interesting. I've never had an issue with heat, neither with the charging pad nor the receiver in the phone even with the thick case on. I average with mysetup between 16 to 23% charge/hr it's no 40 or 50 I get with a proper wire/adapter setup, but it's more than enough at work and totally enough while sleeping. What was your receiver rated at? the one I linked to is rated at 1000mha (whether or not it charges that fast, I can't comment, my pad is only rated at 750).
What most people don't like about these types of chargers is you can't charge while you use it, phone has to be laying on the charger and all, or they have the screen to be set constantly on or whatever which will slow down your charging. Not saying these were your issues, but I'd recommend running a few tests, it sounds like you've tried different pads, have you bought another receiver for the phone? install an app to help monitor the battery charge and usage (I find battery monitor widget fairly accurate, it'll tell you your charge your charge percentage/hr). just my thoughts for you.
I ended up purchasing the following two items. I mainly need this for my work desk as I often run out of battery well before the end of a work day. Having this on my desk will help because I can charge more frequently and keep a higher battery meter. When I'm home I don't mind using a power cable as the way I'm setup works well there. Anyway, we'll see how this all works and I appreciate all the replies.

I don't remember the rated mha, because I haven't used it for long time. Maybe they're the very first generation products with lots of problem.
But just like you said, you have to laying down the phone while it's charging, this is the biggest problem for me. In a working desk, you can still using your phone while the charging cable is connected, and the charging speed is incredibly faster then the QI charger, if you use the QI pad, you need to put it back to the pad every time, if you're busy, you don't have time to put it back and make sure they're properly aligned, that's why I eventually give up on the product.
But I just thinking, if some day in the future, the whole working desk can be a QI charger support your tablet and your phone's power, that will be a great invention for our everyday life.

The starting Gen of inductive charging had a lot of problems, mainly weak circuits in detecting the phone requiring precise lining up. Things are a bit better now especially if you run a naked or think phone case.
Sounds like a brilliant DIY to build an entire desk Qi charging pad. From what I recall the Qi is just a fancy chipset that makes it compatible so someone could theoretically make a desk laced with charging coils if someone had the time, energy and money to do so
Personally I like Qi for home evenings and work. I don't play with my phone at work or whilst I sleep. I also don't keep games on my phone, eats up too much power. During the day and general use I depend on my battery and my cable/plug while on the go. Inductive charging isn't perfect, and frankly will never be in my opinion, but great for those too lazy to plug in their phone (like my gf) or those who get up and down and don't want the hassle of constantly unplugging and plugging their phone in every time. I see them in the same boat as smart watches. They have their niches none of which a normal person really NEEDS, but are fun to haves.

Actually the first generation qi receiver and transmitter was one of the best, Im still using the first generation transmitter from yijieneng, detect all my receiver upto now, and I still have a few first gen S3 receiver, they are built using the best chipset and coil, but because the price of the actual reciever cost more that the oem one itself or 4-5 times the prices of the current receivers on ebay, I don't put them up on ebay.

Extremely slow charging?

The other night I put my note pro on the charger with around 28% battery. After 8+ hours charging it was only at like 90%. I have been noticing pretty much every time it charges. Is there something that I am missing? I am rooted, but don't mess around with much on this tablet simply because it doesn't need much tweaking. I am using an official Samsung USB 3.0 charger with a 3ft cable. So no non-standard overly long aftermarket cable or anything either.
I am thinking of doing a factory wipe on it, maybe that could help. Hope there isn't a physical issue with it because I could see Samsung denying me because of tripped Knox...
Thanks.
Whats your standby battery drain like? If you're seeing significant drain while not charging this might be an indication of something running in the background that's reducing your charge rate too. Is charging speed improved if the tablet is powered down?
As a point of reference using GSAM Battery Monitor I see a charge rate of about 1200ma at idle with screen brightness low. You may want to try a battery monitor app such as this, perhaps it will help pinpoint the issue.
Could be the charger itself . . .
You can also go Settings - General - Bttery and tap that grey bar (where reads how long you have been running since last charge)
Then check Awake.. If there is blue bar even when your device has been longer time without any using, it tells that some app or something is not letting the device go to sleep --> which drains battery.
Have you tried your original USB cable? The stock cable is longer than 3ft

Did you charge on Power Saving mode? I think, that option slow down charging
Did you turn off all running settings? (WiFi, GPS, Sync). Did you Greenify all Apps?

Thanks for pointing me to this app. I installed and will take a look at what my tablet is doing. Seems like I have been getting much lower "Screen on" times lately too. I don't recall installing anything that would do something to drain.
As for the charger, I bought the tablet from Amazon as open box. It was supposed to come with a charger but didn't. They gave me a partial refund and I bought a charger on ebay with the same model number as the stock one but it only came with a 3ft cable. I wouldn't think having a shorter cable would make a difference...

I never turn off settings while charging. I don't feel that you should need to. I generally keep GPS off all the time anyway, I have a phone for Maps!
Thanks for the replies all! I will report back on what I find.
You likely have an application causing drain and GSAM should help you figure that out.
In addition I would suspect the charger; check the voltage and see if it's rated for 5.3V at 2.0 amps.

Keep in mind that turning off WiFi speeds up the charging by about 70%. And since we're talking about a device with 9500mAh...
It's fine that you feel one should not be required to do so. To each their own. Physics, however, has no interest in 'feelings' and what people think should happen. Turning off a service that uses a lot of power means it'll stop draining a large percentage of the feeded charge. Elementary physics. (Just like how a cup is filled faster if you stop drinking from it whilst filling it.)

The charger that I have is model number: EP-TA10JWS
The output is rated for 5.3V and 2.0A.
I suppose there is a potential that I got a bum charger, or its a very sophisticated knock off. But the labeling all looks very legit and identical to my wifes Note 10.1 2014 charger.

So last night I tested and I TURNED OFF my tablet completely to charge. I think I had about 18% left when I put it on the charger and when I woke up about 7 hours later and turned it back on, it was at 91%. Does this sound even remotely close?
I also tested last night plugging in my charger and turning everything on the tablet off, WiFi, screen brightness all the way down, closed all open apps etc... In GSAM Battery Monitor my input was only like +800 mA. @muzzy996 you have 1200mA??? Seems like the issue must be the charger in light of my testing...
Another thing I tested though was using my wife's Note 10.1 2014 charger this morning. I believe it has the same output (5.3V / 2.0A) but I used the USB 2.0 cable that is included with it. I was only at like 650mA when charging. I think I will have to track down another charger and see if it makes a difference...
Thanks again for all the replies.
I believe there is a defect in the charging software or hardware. I used several iPad 2 car chargers rated for at least 10 watts. (5.2Volts x 2Amps) They take 5x longer to charge than the iPad. Talk about proprietary hardware/software.
The OEM charger EP-TA10JBE is rated at 5.3Volts x 2Amps. The voltage loss in the 4Ft cable supplied must be at least .1 volts, so I do not understand that the voltage difference should cause the charging rate to slow to a trickle.
I'm going to try this.
I'm having the same problem and I read the following in another thread. I'll let you know if it works for me. My charging time is not quite as slow as yours, but it's still slower than it was when I first opened the box and I've only had it less than 2 weeks.
"had the same problem after updating to 4.4.2. It only charged when off. When the device was on, it mentioned 'not charging' in the battery status, but in fact it did charge very slowly when the device was not in use, about 5% per hour.
Also when used, the battery was draining more quickly than before the upgrade.
This solved it for me:
- reboot in recovery mode (hold volume up, button and power while booting)
- clear cache partition
- reboot.
Looks like something in the cache is causing the system to consume (almost) more power than is supplied by the adapter..."
Working better
After clearing the system cache, the charge speed went up to about 22% per hour with the tablet shut off. Seems to be huge improvement in my case. I used the cable that came in the box with tablet.
The standard note 12.2 charger: EP-TA10JWS, The output is rated for 5.3V and 2.0A.
My Galaxy Note Edge has fast charging and regular charging capability. 2 outputs; 9.0V - 1.67A or 5.0V - 2.0A
Has anyone tried this/a fast charger with the note 12.2 ? Will it work ?
Probably not as it doesn't have the fast charging capability, but worth asking the tech savvy people out there.
Besides for travelling purposes it would be great just to carry one charger instead of 2.

Correct it will not fast charge, it needs both the fast charging supporting device and charger to work.

Sorry yes, corrected.
Dont forget it has a 9500mAh battery. The Note 3 has 3200mAh and charges from 0 to 100 in 90 minutes. So you'll always be looking at at least 4-5 hours.
If you leave your connections(Wifi, gps, mobile data, etx), sync and apps running, don't complain that it takes ages to charge.
Fast Charge pre-S6 is Qualcomm tech. The new Exynos chips support their own Fast Charge, but that doesn't apply to the old Exynos devices.
The Snapdragon NotePro's have Qualcomm Fast charge. (Which is not the same as the one in the S6)
The Exynos devices do not. So the P900 will always be slower in charging than the P905.
If you have a p900 and it's slow to charge, that's why.

I tried mine with a 15V charger from my TF700T, and it didn't make any difference.
You can use the Note Edge charger, it also supplies normal levels for ordinary charging. I often use my Note 3 charger.

I don't know the output of your charger but the correct one should have 5.3 Volts, 2 Amps output. Using other chargers which has lower output such as 1 Amp will cause a longer time to charge.
In order to verify which one is at fault, everyone should have this tool, no more guessing when you can see the voltage and charging current .

You should swap one by one, using a known working charger and cable to verify which one is the source of problem. Start in order: charger, USB cable, USB port until problem solved.
If the reading is not 5.3 V, 1.7A, something is wrong with your charger, USB cable. or USB charging port ( new one is only around $12 ). When near full charged, current should be under 1 Amp.

The Note 3, TabPro and NotePro chargers are identical. They have literally the same EAN and product code. The only thing that varies is the cable.
I don't have any 1A chargers anymore, they're useless to me these days. Even all my car chargers are 2.1A.

Wireless vs wire charger

Hello,
What do you think is better for battery life?
I know that wireless is slower...
I have wireless charger EP-PG920IBE
Thanks!

Wired if you need a super quick charge to get max battery life as possible.
Wireless for convenience if you won't be needing the juice for a bit.
At night I always plug in.

I use wireless wherever I don't need immediate charging.
Using the Samsung S Charger pad - Wide (here)
It's amazingly fast given that it's only got an output of 900mAh (or so it says)
The whole idea of fast charging sounds unsafe to me (probably isn't) but I have doubts of the life span of a battery that gets constantly charged that fast

One problem from wireless one, is that you can't use phone, because you're broking charging cycle (it will affects battery life). For example, a call.
So, wire even if at day I have time. And wireless at night when I'm sleeping.
For me is the best option. Is it?

Yeah fair point
I use wireless everywhere but the car. I have wireless bedside, and on my desk at work. It's super convenient and even though it won't charge during phone calls, keeping it out he dock keeps it charged up. If I am heavy on it, I just unplug the dock and plug in directly. In the car is a different ballgame. In Texas, the summers are hot, and I've seen phones shut off because of overheating. I don't want to add the heat from a wireless charger to that. Instead, I have a quick charge 2.0 charger to top off my phone quickly during trips.

Here are some charging numbers I took for just 10 minutes. The percentage shown is the amount gained in the 10 minute window. I made sure the phone just changed to the certain percentage before testing to make sure they were all the same. Meaning If the phone was at 34% when I plugged it in or ont he wireless charger, I waited until it changed to 35% and then did my 10 minute window.
Fast charge Charger
10 minutes 17%
Wireless charger (Duracell Powermat)
10 minutes 6%
Normal Samsung 1amp Charger
10 minutes 8%
So the wireless wasn't much slower than a normal charger

I just did a test of the Samsung Wireless base.
It charged from 55% to 100% in about 1:23:30. Not as fast as 2A wired, but still a decent rate.
{UPDATE}
S6 Adaptive Fast Charger: 55%-100% in 00:50:00. I expect the S4 2A charger to be faster, which will be my next test. And if so, "Adaptive Fast Charging" is very misleading as the emphasis seems to be on "fast" as opposed to adaptive", as most people care about speed and not Amp switching.
{UPDATE 2}
I have no screenshot for this because my phone reset the stopwatch when I tried to tale a screenshot. (It takes me about 6-7 tries to take a screenshot - it usually just goes to Google app when I try to screenshot. Very annoying.)
The constant 2A Samsung charger went from 55% to 100% in 00:53:00, so it seems the "Adaptive Fast Charger" was 3min faster. I'm very surprised, but the 3min doesn't make any difference in my life.

Cheap, and works with Otterbox Defender case on my S6.
Fast? I guess that depends on how you define it.
I´m wondering whether all wireless chargers works the same? I mean if they charge evenly fast and with same efficiency, as they all are the same Qi standard?

I'm guessing no. In almost everything made, there is a "standard" that the item is made to, but varying qualities of build and performance. Take Bluetooth, for example. All items are made to a specific Bluetooth spec and standard, but not all accessories, transmitters, and receivers work to equal quality. I think it's a matter of the lesser accessories being good enough for you.
And keep in mind that I'm not saying that the expensive ones will always work better and the cheaper worse - just that you can't expect them to all work the same. But one thing that is true the majority the time - "you get what you pay for". And sometimes you don't.
I think that wireless charging can be handy. For instance, at work, I sit at a desk in front of a computer all day. I'll make calls a few times throughout the day to clients, and whenever I'm not on the phone, I plop the phone onto the wireless charger, and let it charge up a little. Usually, when I go home at 4:30, i'll still have a full charge. I'll drain the full charge with games or whatever while I'm at home, and I always plug it in before I go to bed. I've never found myself with a dead phone, but If you were the kind of person who was on the move all day talking to people, having a wireless charger might not be very beneficial.
Here's the wired charger I use
And the Wireless.

The adaptive fast charging speeds up charging when the battery is low. As the battery get closer to full the fast charging slows down to prevent damage to the battery. If you redid your comparison from 5% charge to 50% charge you'd see a much larger difference between the normal and fast charger.
I have 3 off these around the house, no issues at all.
And they come in all kinds of colors/styles.

Galaxy S6 Edge+ not charging with Samsung Wireless Charger

So, I picked up my Edge+ from BestBuy yesterday and along with it, I got one Samsung Wireless Charger (the old generation). I unpacked it, connected the cable to the dish shaped charger and put my phone on top of it and voila! It starts charging. But wait, withing minutes, the charging stops and the blue light of the dish charger starts blinking. Disconnected, reconnected, few minutes passed and again it starts blinking (only when phone is on top). Now, I've used all original accessories, I do not have any cases/covers put on. I can't understand why won't it charge. When I googled, I saw similar issues with blinking blue light but nobody had solution.
Here, look at this video I created : https://youtu.be/SfiGk6C3Yso
So, did any of you encounter this yet ?
I bought actually my charger from best buy and both my edge+ and my wife's did the same thing so I took the chargers back. I bought a stand up one a little more expensive but been using it since Wednesday with no issues!
Same issue...the phone displays "Wireless Charging Paused" and the charger light keeps flashing

Funny... but tragic!
I am using the TYLT charger, takes about 45 mins to charge 20%, so i assume its going to take about 5 hrs to charge 0 to 100.
Its beside my bed side, and its at about 45% each night before i go to sleep, midnight i wake up around 2.30'is or 3.30'is, and notice that my phone is already 100% charged.
Cant wait for the new 2.1Amp charger to arrive. i am gonna keep that at work, cos thats when the phone is in and out of the charging pad each time i go for meetings or coffee breaks, i guess i'll never be below 80%
I might have figured it out
This will sound insane but mine was not working correctly either. One thing I did was I turned the power cord that came with the wireless charger in the opposite direction of the outlet, in comparison to how I had it originally. I believe this now means that the USB cord is facing to the right of the power adapter. I know it sounds crazy, but mine worked perfect since then. And another thing I've done is I make sure mine is aligned with the camera in the back in such a way that sliding the phone down the pad and when I feel it hit the camera bump I know that I have it in place. I hope this helps someone. I would say I am very tech savvy but this is one of the most odd things I've seen, if it's truly why mine started working.
I have had no issues charging with my $10 eBay wireless chargers, I have 3 different ones and all have work. I did notice that I have to use a fast charge power supply.

I'm not really sure what you meant by saying you turned the power cord in opposite direction o the outlet ? Is it like you plugged in your charger in the reverse way to the wall socket ? Care to explain ? Or may be an images speaks a thousand words... ?
Will post pics when home
Yes I think you understand what I'm saying, a wall outlet charger can only go in two ways, or sometimes because of the prongs on the power device you can't reverse it, but on this when you can, and)) I had mine where the USB cable was facing to the left I believe and the charger was working intermittently. Now I have the USB cable facing to the right which us the reverse way of plugging in the wall charger and it works.
---------- Post added at 12:50 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:26 PM ----------
This is how it should look in your outlet. Hope it helps. Would be great if someone can also confirm if it fixed their problem.

I have a wireless charger on my desk but I rarely use it. Constant charge, discharge won't be good for the battery in the long run. I've had my Note 4 for 1 year and I can feel like the battery is degraded. I'm very careful when it comes to charging. Will be extra careful with this S6e+'s battery.

Agree that is a good point with non-removable batteries. But i never had any issue with my batteries with Note 3 where i had attahed a QI reciever and used to charge it wirelessly, and infact prior to this with the Iphone i used to have to dock almost 20 hrs daily.

I have the Samsung wireless charging pad that stops charging after some time. Maybe at like 50% . To fix this I have to remove the phone from the pad and place it on again. I'll probably keep the pad in my living room and buy another usb charger for overnight charging so the battery won't degrade

the only thing i dont get with wireless charging is, why does the phone get very hot while its charging. When the phone reaches 100%, the phone is back to normal temps.
I have to use the ccleaner's cool the cpu feature, which shows that android system is over heating.
I wonder wirless charging doesnt cause spark's or power leakage causing the phone to heat up.

Wireless charger use induction for charging which heats up the coil inside the phone on back side. This is usual as long as its not very hot. This is the primary reason for battery degradation too. If the battery is in touch with the coil, the heat from the coil affects the battery adversely.

Another wireless charging (Qi) thread

Wondering if anyone has used the ZENS chargers. I'm looking at this one for the V30: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B079NWG6L7
It appears to support 15W Qi charging but it's been a while since I've bought any wireless chargers and there still isn't much information out there (or great selection of chargers). I'm worried companies are using proprietary technology (like G-Sync from NVIDIA) to lock out other phone vendors from taking advantage of something. The concern is if the charger would work with LG phones, considering it's explicitly calling out Samsung and iPhone charging. It could be that they're doing this because of market share/popularity of the devices, but I don't know that.
The image on Amazon does say "Other" and show support for "5-15W certified" as being "faster, peak charging" but you know how these images on Amazon are.. and how things sometimes tend to be picky regardless...

Otherwise, does anyone know of a charger that supports fast Qi charging and will automatically shut off when the battery is full (instead of cycling on and off every second like my Panasonic QE-TM101-K), supports fastest possible Qi charging on the V30 and isn't finicky about where you place the phone?
I was checking out the Belkin F7U014dqSLV but it appears to have many complaints about being finicky about phone placement. I don't like these chargers that require the phone to be placed precisely.... it almost entirely defeats the purpose of using a wireless charger.
Also, wow... not only should phone companies start adding battery limitation settings straight into the phone's OS but these chargers should have the option to define a maximum charge % too.
I want one specifically that is a pad rather than something that props the phone up (stand).
What are your experiences and recommendations for 15W Qi chargers?
Umidigi Q1. Umidigi is actually a phone company itself and like LG got carried away with Qualcomm's lousy fast wireless charging claims - so they had to make their own fast wireless charger; which happens to be the Umidigi Q1.
Fast charging speed with original V30 charger is very good. I have observed 30% increase in 30 minutes.
But you must find the correct spot on this small round device to start charging. From what I am experiencing so far, V30 must sit a little bit lower than the middle of the charger : then V30 reports it is fast wireless charging and also charges fast.

I didn't know there was a reply to this... anyways I placed my order on December 31st for the ZENS and I can report that it works well and is worth the price. It isn't cheap stuff at all. The power adapter for the wall comes with 3 swappable prongs for regional sockets and even the twist tie on the cable isn't cheap plastic garbage like many cheap products are. While the brand is relatively unknown, they seem to actually be making pretty premium products. The charger successfully Fast Charges the V30+ via Qi and even works through the Spigen Tough Armor case.
Regarding the original charger, my phone didn't come with one and I intend on using wireless charging partially because I want to avoid plugging a USB cable into the phone as much as possible to prolong the life of the port.

I picked up one of these ZENS chargers yesterday from Amazon for my B&H US998 V30S. I had the opposite experience from s0lidsneak. I put the phone on the charger before I went to bed. I got the "fast wireless charging" message and another one stating that full charge would be achieved in 1 hr 5m. About 6 hours later, it had only gone from 53% to 73%. The phone was VERY warm, and the charger itself was almost too hot to touch. I had it in the upright position, the entire reason I bought this charger.
I'll try it again tonight, but if I can't get better charging speed out of this without it warming up the phone so much, it's going back. Any thoughts on what I might have done wrong or why it's doing this would be appreciated.

There's no upright position on the charger I linked but they do make one like that. The phone can get pretty hot if I use the Battery Limit app and put it on that charger but for normal charges it seems to only get moderately warm, which is to be expected when charging a battery and since 2013 when I used wireless charging I noticed it gets a little warmer than a regular cable charge too. Haven't had any extreme overheats like you have using the model I linked but have no experience with whichever one you bought.
I'm new to any kind of "fast charging" as the only other wirelessly charged phone I've had was a Nexus 5 but I think it's normal for it to get a little warmer than a slow charge. As far as how long it's taking you to charge, that's very strange and I have more of a feeling that's a battery/battery calibration issue or maybe the phone is having trouble staying connected to the charger, in which case I'd blame the charger for not having appropriately positioned coils to be suitable for all phones. It's hard to say when I am unable to put the same phone up to the same charger and see for myself.

Oops, you're correct. I purchased the other model, ZESC07BA, which does have an upright mode. I want to be able to see the phone from bed. The V30S is my first Qi capable phone so I'm new to this as well.
I have no idea why it looks like it's fast charging, but took so long to show any increase. It never made it to 100% before I had to get up. Plus, it's roasting the phone. I expected some heat, but the charger was almost too hot to touch. I may just go back to wired charging. My phone wasn't even warm, (at least not through the case), when I wired charged it. Plan on keeping this a while so I don't want to limit it's lifespan by overheating it.
In reading some of the Amazon reviews, other's have said that it gets pretty hot as well. I'll give it one more shot, but if it can't charge the phone in one night, it's going back.

Maybe you should email the company. Their responses aren't very fast (a few days) but they do answer. Maybe you have a defective unit?
I just tested the charger I bought with the V30+ from 53% to 73%:
The ambient temp before charge was 19 C and battery temp was 27 C.
The ambient temp after charge hasn't changed and the battery temp is 37.5 C.
It took 20 minutes to charge from 53% to 73%.
The charge limit is set to 81% (I knew it hit 73% by tapping to wake the screen).
The Spigen Tough Armor case was on the phone.
According to IMEI lookup, the phone was produced on October 14th, 2017.
I decided to return it because it isn't as simple to position the phone on it as I first thought. After spending more time with the charger I think it's too much of a hassle trying to position it. I think I may have just gotten lucky on the first attempts the night I got it.
The rest of the points are still valid. It's well-made as far as build quality and charges quickly. I just dislike how difficult it is to place the phone.
Additionally, my monitor just died on me and I need to save up to replace it. I'll go for another charger later and will probably pick up this before a Qi charger I can decide on comes along.
I ve just bought this Huawei cp60 (15w) without charger itself.. I ll test it and let u guys know the result..

My wife was having trouble lining up her phone correctly when placing it on her wireless charger. So decided to make a base or guide for her charging pad so her phone would line up correctly every time. First I made a prototype out of cardboard, then I 3D printed the final design. Works like a charm and she loves it!

Or use tilted charger so you can see notifications also. Can't mess it up.

:good: the Papa Johns had a certain rustic quality to it but good job with the 3D printing :good:
:laugh::laugh::laugh:
This why I only wanted a stand type one. I can just rest it on there, vertical or horizontal working on mine, and it just works. Also easy to read on the desk.

That's a cool idea.. I wish the chargers were just large to begin with though.

I was thinking of getting one of those next time.. a tilted one... Maybe just leave it at my PC and not worry about charging at bed since the battery is so much better than the Nexus 5.
Also about notifications.. would sure be a lot better if the screen could light up when receiving them. I don't understand why it doesn't... especially since the phone lacks a notification light.
I would also love to be able to see notifications with previews on that screen instead of requiring I use always on then seeing a little icon there indicating a notification exists.
The metal one by Anker is by far the fastest one. I have the white stand with cooling fan one too. But the metal one is definitely faster. I mean not a huge amount faster but it's definitely faster. Would explain the extra heat. I mean Anker didn't start advertising support for 15w phones until the the metal one.

The White Stand didn't even work with the included charger for me. I just want something that doesn't take ten minutes to position my phone to charge it. Even the large anker pad is a pain in the ass.

The metal one doesn't really have any positioning issues, I have positioning issues with the white one but it sounds like they aren't as bad as yours were.
From as far as I can tell the metal one will start charging as soon as it defects proper positioning. Like it won't say it isn't positioned properly with the led, it just charges when it defects the phone. The only time I got the pad to say it isn't positioned properly was after like 5-10 minutes of trying to see if it even did that. And I was actually holding the phone above the charger to fool it lol.
In regards to the metal pad , it runs cool when used atop a thermal pad I had laying around.
But I'm gonna stick to the white stand and use a magnetic micro USB cable to avoid strain on the port if it gets knocked over by one of my dogs. I can already tells it's loose.
And the metal pad seems to only run hot during the initial fast charging, like how it charges really fast and really hot with a cable, then slows down the charging the closer you get 100%. I've never had it feel hot to the touch when I wake up.
Maybe look into a car charger one? Some of them advertise as useful when taped to a desk or whatnot
Would the LG G3 wireless charger fit the LG V30 +?
Do you know if dual-chip version would also accept wireless charging? Thank you.

All V30 variants have Qi wireless charging feature. Any Qi wireless charging pad will work. Some do charge faster than others, however.
The newer ones have more power. A Qi wireless charging pad for LG G3 would be from 2014. (I've used Qi wireless charging pad since 2013, but as the technology has improved I've ditched the older ones.) But yes, it would work.
