Good battery phone under 500€ - General Questions and Answers

Hi guys, I've been on a nexus 4 for 3 years, rooted from minute 1. Really happy with it except the battery life... It's now around 3-4 hors SOT.
I just want to upgrade to something (new or used I don't care) that has a good battery. Im tired of charging the phone every time I have the possibility to survive 1 day.
Any suggestion? I read about the z3 compact, oneplus one, note 4, droid turbo, but don't know about new released phones and which one is better in that regard (not sacrificing too much potential, i mean, my nexus 4 is rarely laggy as of today for my usage, i don't need a missile inthat regard).

No one?

You should go for the OPO if you want value for a budget-mid range price. The device is premium built plus it's blazingly fast.
The price is 300 euros for the 64GB version.
I hope this helped...

[Q] To buy or not to buy?

Hey guys. Just looking for your opinions: Is the Nexus 5 a good phone to buy now? I'm upgrading from the Galaxy Nexus (Old hardware and laggy software, even on custom Roms and kernels) and looking for a cheap phone with decent internals and smooth performance. Is it a phone that is likely to last, in terms of future proofing? Is there any other decent cheap alternatives with a lightweight OS and good hardware?
My quick opinion, is that the Nexus 5 is awesome. Beautiful, fast, and great support.
I bought it 2 months ago for 215€ and I am loving it every day.
About lasting it for long, I can't really say. The battery and limited storage may be an issue on the long term (so far great on both, but non-removable and no micro-sd), but I usually change my phone about every 12-18 months, so not really a concern for me: I buy a great, "cheap" phone every year (then re-sell it to recover part), to enjoy them. And so far, I enjoy my Nexus 5 like a little boy.
Thanks very much for the reply I'm more convinced to get it now!!
I would get something with more battery life. Preferably with more than 3000mah. But you coming from a gnex, anything is an upgrade haha

It's a good moment for the Z3?

Hi all
At the moment I have a Nexus 5 and I want to change to the Z3 because the battery of my current phone is killing me (Can't reach 3H SOT).
But it's a good moment to buy the Z3? I thing that if I buy it I will have to stay with it for at least 2 years.
What do you recommend to me? Should I buy the Z3 now or I should wait to others devices to come (OnePlus Two or Nexus 5 2015)

I used to have N5 and only thing that was better is grippines. N5 rubber smooth surface made it very easy to use without case. Z3 is superior in every other ways imo. Better battery, camera, front speakers and screen was definitely worth to upgrade for me. But keep in mind that I sold N5 for 200€ and bought used Z3 for 290€.
With Z4 coming out, the price of Z3 will come down, so I think it's time to buy Z3.

£100 phone 5 day battery!

Just bought my first Chinese brand phone, well its for the missus when I find a replacement for dead Sammy Note 3, and wow... I'm impressed! Its an UMI eMax Mini.
Now I've had iphones, galaxy notes and other flagship phones and never had more than about 36hrs use before need of a charge... Yet I was down to 25% after about 90hrs with this one! I've been using it the same if not a little more than normal this past week.
I just can't get my head around battery performance!

Nexus 5 died. I got the one plus x did I make a bad choice? self

Nexus 5 died. I got the one plus x did I make a bad choice? self.
The One plus x seems OK. I know the cpu is older but it has 3 gigs of ram. It dose not have wireless ac like The nexus 5 that was useful. It is missing a LTE band that I use on tmobel but that seems to work fine. Im on wifi most of the time, (google fiber) very fast so ac is usefull. With the oneplusx I cap about 50 down or up now so its not to bad. I payed 250 us for it off amazon.com So I have a little time left before I have to keep it about 3 weeks. Should I be looking at some thing else that's out now or coming out soon. or is the Oneplusx a keeper? thanks

Now or wait?

Would you buy s7 now or wait for next S phone? Do they historically come out around Feb?

I would buy one now. In fact, I just did. I got a killer price and accessories are dirt cheap, for the most part. It's still a badass phone with top-notch specs, and probably one of the best deals around. At first release, it was way overpriced compared to the competition. Now? Definitely get it. The S8 will be $400+ more than a S7 when it's released.
This year so far, I went from a Droid Turbo 2 to Note 5 to Moto X to S7 to iPhone 6s to Nexus 6P back to the S7. I played extensively with a HTC 10, Pixel, Moto Z, LG G5 and iPhone 7. Other than the 6P, the S7 has been my favorite phone this year. A close third would be the Moto Z. Unfortunately, the largeness of the Z and 6P killed it for me. Had it or the 6P been a bit smaller, I would have stayed. But, I digress.
I recommend getting a S7. It's a damn good phone.
Thanks. Seems international version going for $500. Think that's a good price new?

Right now I would wait to buy a S8. It'll be out around spring time.
What I look for in a phone is 5.1"-5.5", latest hardware, nice speakers, nice build. Depends on what you have now and if you only want to spend under $500. I see that you are using a Moto X? If you are than definitely get a S7 international exynos version or the AT&T variant can be purchased for under $400 usd nowadays used.
I totally agree with you on that. I've been a huge HTC fan and than got me a AT&T S6 when it first came out than I won a bid for a gently used AT&T s7 for around $400 USD out the door. As a everyday phone and not having root this phone has it all. The size is manageable and perfect for me. I had a LG V10 and that thing was too hard to pocket and also a Nexus 6. The speakers were always a big reason for me to purchase a phone but now I don't really care for that feature.
The S7 is the overall best phone I've owned to this day. It makes a really good daily for any person that doesn't urge to root and flash ROMS. Fast camera, Great bright AMOLED screen, snappy performance, microSD slot plus water proof, WIRELESS CHARGING, bottom speaker gets loud but its not the best. The always on display gimmick is actually really useful and just got updated to look like Note 7's always on. Overall I am pretty happy with the phone.
It would depend on how you feel about your current phone. I switched to S7 because the S6 got poor battery endurance and sluggish.
The S7 has better screen and camera than my previous S5, the UI is about the similar smooth because S5 could be on customized rooted ROMs.
Also, would the money be an issue to you? S7 is estimated $200 to 300 cheaper than the S8.
i just bought the s7 a few days ago after many weeks of doubt (whether i shud get it or not), and i'm very glad i did, this phone is insane (even without root)
my previous phones were xiaomi mi4 & oneplus x, both phones i rooted instantly and flashed hundreds of ROM's, with the S7 i don't feel the need to flash a ROM atm
the display is amazing as well & the battery is good enough for me (getting around 5-6hrs SOT with mixed usage of Wifi/4G, while i havent even had the time to remove the bloatware)
