£100 phone 5 day battery! - Android General

Just bought my first Chinese brand phone, well its for the missus when I find a replacement for dead Sammy Note 3, and wow... I'm impressed! Its an UMI eMax Mini.
Now I've had iphones, galaxy notes and other flagship phones and never had more than about 36hrs use before need of a charge... Yet I was down to 25% after about 90hrs with this one! I've been using it the same if not a little more than normal this past week.
I just can't get my head around battery performance!

PowerSkin

Hey guys! I see it has been awhile since anyone posted on the accessories for this phone... I just wanted to share something that I found was really helpful and awesome!
It's called PowerSkin. It's a case that you put on your phone, and has an external battery on it. What is nice about it, is that it doesn't take up too much pocket space! It is pretty slim, and makes it easy to carry around, despite it having an extra battery on it. I bought my power skin about 2 months ago from Amazon, and it is probably the best accessory I have ever bought for it! When I first got it, it stopped working after about 2 weeks because the charging port would not connect properly to a cable. But when I contacted customer service, they responded the same day, and sent me a new one for free! They didn't have me pay for any shipping, or even send the old one back. It just got here within 2 days, and I'm using my new one now!
As for performance, it has significantly increased my battery life! I'm running on my original battery, which has gone down to only 6 hours of charge, (that's when I use it quite a bit) but has gone up to nearly 22 hours because of this case! I can't imagine how long this could go with the Galaxy Nexus battery!
And the best news of all, is that instead of being around $45 when it first released, I bought it for under $20! This is a great buy, & I recommend it to anyone! I would suggest going with Amazon, because that is where I found the best customer service!
I hope this helps!

I have it, it makes the phone twice as thick, and i find it uneasy in my pocket. I have it in my bag and only use it when i really need to. ibdo recommend it but not of you have your phone in your pocket if you want it with the case on it.
When I had the blaze I used this as emergency backup battery. I found it to be bulky and sometimes got hot while charging . glad its working for you

The wait is over

Ive been debating for a couple of weeks now about getting a g pro 2. even though the phones been out for awhile the price is still up there. especially the Korean version. which is suppose to be the one to get to use in the US. Well, I couldn't hold off any longer. Ordered mines yesterday. The only thing im not happy with is the little or next none development support. I know this is a monster phone inside and out. I had the optimus g pro once. I loved the phone, but was disappointed with its support. I sold a note 3 to get this phone. everyone has a note. When you have a z ultra, and a one max the note 3 feels to small. I know the g pro 2 is going to be a nice replacement. I cant wait.
out of interest, why didn't you get the Nexus 6 instead? it's about as big, similar spec and probably will have a lot more development for it if you don't like pure google updates.

it's all about price...
You would be pretty pleased with the G Pro 2. Price is pretty affordable and knock knock code would be indispensable.
Enjoy it.
Price Factor
price is a factor. i did look at the nexus 6. i also looked at the price. i had sold a note 3 and the rest was out of pocket to get the g pro 2. if and when the price ever comes down to where the g pro 2 is now i would get one. ive never had a nexus phone because of there screen size. now put a nexus 6 at the same price that the nexus 5 came out with and im all over it. my current devices are a sony xperia z ultra, htc one max and lg g pro 2 which is being delivered as we speak.
I understand the excitement in getting a G Pro 2 but if you're one of those people that has to flash something every 20 minutes (like myself) you'll be extremely disappointed. I got so annoyed with LG putting a permanently locked bootloader on that I had to go out and buy an Xperia Z Ultra C6833 just so I could have a bit of device freedom. So if it were me, I would've kept the Note 3 or saved up for a while and buy a Nexus 6. But this is just my opinion, I know there are people that love this phone.

Would you still buy the OPO today?

My Nexus 5 is getting worse and worse by the day when it comes to battery life. I have replaced the battery and factory reset but still am struggling. Plus, I'm not overly impressed with the HTC One M9 at this point, but I realize it's not on final software yet either. The Asus Zenfone 2 is also appealing, but who knows when/if it will be released in the US.
So, if you were to buy a phone today, would you still consider the OnePlus One? I know the next variant is expected in the upcoming months but curious what you think. I like the price point, especially for the 64gb of memory, but it looks like camera quality is still hit and miss.
I appreciate your thoughts!
Update: bought one on Swappa and should be getting it on 3/20.
I just ordered mine 64GB version for 299 Eur
Hmm Nexus5 to OnePlusOne maybe last year, but this year when OnePlus Two is near i wouldn't buy OnePlusOne, but if you totally need it buy it. It is smooth and looks so awesome.
I'd still buy it in a heartbeat.

I bought a used one a few weeks ago off of swappa for $330. Came with a case and 2 glass screen protectors. Love it so far, decided to buy another used one for my GF too.

Same here. Replaced my S5 for about the same price, and would do it again in a heartbeat.

Just got mine today, loving it. I'd get a one plus two if it was exactly the same as the one in every way, ie 5.5" 1080p (dont need higher), 64gb of storage, great battery life and cheap. Rumours all point to none of this, along with the 810 being a hot chip. Even the M9 is a hot running device.
I have a HTC One m8, but seeing as the M9 is disappointing and I want a new phone so I bought it today, can't wait to get it! If I don't like it, well theres always toy phones to have
Yes. Got mine few days ago. So far, it's great. Now I have both Nexus 5 32gb and OnePlus One 64gb. It's so great in such a small price tag that you won't regret even if the Two comes in few months.
So if u consider to buy a phone today, definitely go for OnePlus 1.

Thanks for all the comments! I just purchased one on Swappa, now to sit and wait.
No, I wouldn't. The missing feature of mhl makes it almost completely useless with my app radio which I used heavily with HTC one m7.

Lol I got mine 2 days ago. And I must say, pros>cons on this phone. I absolutely love it. I don't care about the customer service and that it doesn't work as quick as people would like them to work. For the price of this phone and the specs, you have no right to complain about anything tbh?
I bought one , Broke it . . Tried the OPPO FIND 7.. broke and returned that.. now i just got another ONEPLUS . Love the easy customization and the ONEPLUS ROM Scene is busy..
oneplus one will be brilliant choice!
OnePlus Without second thought.
He had everything you have in Nexus 5 and so MUCH more, plus with this price tag it's a no brainer.
Just bought one a few days ago, coming from a fairly beaten up Galaxy S3 (no screen cracks, just dinged around the edges and crashes a random app once every other week or so) one big reason I switched is that even the new batteries I bought don't seem to last long.
I got the tempered glass screen protector with it and I love that, never going back to plastic.
I was worried if it would seem too big in my pocket - I would say, the S3 is a little more comfortable to have in pocket, but the OPO is OK. I basically wear jeans every day and they're not too tight, otherwise, it could be a problem.
It feels like a good solid quality device and I'm glad it doesn't get hot running Clash of Clans the way my S3 does.
The ghost touches on this thing are driving me crazy, it's going back up on Swappa.
I wouldn't buy a phone with Snapdragon 810 so I'm not looking forward to any of the flagship (and killer) this year.

Good battery phone under 500€

Hi guys, I've been on a nexus 4 for 3 years, rooted from minute 1. Really happy with it except the battery life... It's now around 3-4 hors SOT.
I just want to upgrade to something (new or used I don't care) that has a good battery. Im tired of charging the phone every time I have the possibility to survive 1 day.
Any suggestion? I read about the z3 compact, oneplus one, note 4, droid turbo, but don't know about new released phones and which one is better in that regard (not sacrificing too much potential, i mean, my nexus 4 is rarely laggy as of today for my usage, i don't need a missile inthat regard).
No one?

You should go for the OPO if you want value for a budget-mid range price. The device is premium built plus it's blazingly fast.
The price is 300 euros for the 64GB version.
I hope this helped...

Now or wait?

Would you buy s7 now or wait for next S phone? Do they historically come out around Feb?

I would buy one now. In fact, I just did. I got a killer price and accessories are dirt cheap, for the most part. It's still a badass phone with top-notch specs, and probably one of the best deals around. At first release, it was way overpriced compared to the competition. Now? Definitely get it. The S8 will be $400+ more than a S7 when it's released.
This year so far, I went from a Droid Turbo 2 to Note 5 to Moto X to S7 to iPhone 6s to Nexus 6P back to the S7. I played extensively with a HTC 10, Pixel, Moto Z, LG G5 and iPhone 7. Other than the 6P, the S7 has been my favorite phone this year. A close third would be the Moto Z. Unfortunately, the largeness of the Z and 6P killed it for me. Had it or the 6P been a bit smaller, I would have stayed. But, I digress.
I recommend getting a S7. It's a damn good phone.
Thanks. Seems international version going for $500. Think that's a good price new?

Right now I would wait to buy a S8. It'll be out around spring time.
What I look for in a phone is 5.1"-5.5", latest hardware, nice speakers, nice build. Depends on what you have now and if you only want to spend under $500. I see that you are using a Moto X? If you are than definitely get a S7 international exynos version or the AT&T variant can be purchased for under $400 usd nowadays used.
I totally agree with you on that. I've been a huge HTC fan and than got me a AT&T S6 when it first came out than I won a bid for a gently used AT&T s7 for around $400 USD out the door. As a everyday phone and not having root this phone has it all. The size is manageable and perfect for me. I had a LG V10 and that thing was too hard to pocket and also a Nexus 6. The speakers were always a big reason for me to purchase a phone but now I don't really care for that feature.
The S7 is the overall best phone I've owned to this day. It makes a really good daily for any person that doesn't urge to root and flash ROMS. Fast camera, Great bright AMOLED screen, snappy performance, microSD slot plus water proof, WIRELESS CHARGING, bottom speaker gets loud but its not the best. The always on display gimmick is actually really useful and just got updated to look like Note 7's always on. Overall I am pretty happy with the phone.
It would depend on how you feel about your current phone. I switched to S7 because the S6 got poor battery endurance and sluggish.
The S7 has better screen and camera than my previous S5, the UI is about the similar smooth because S5 could be on customized rooted ROMs.
Also, would the money be an issue to you? S7 is estimated $200 to 300 cheaper than the S8.
i just bought the s7 a few days ago after many weeks of doubt (whether i shud get it or not), and i'm very glad i did, this phone is insane (even without root)
my previous phones were xiaomi mi4 & oneplus x, both phones i rooted instantly and flashed hundreds of ROM's, with the S7 i don't feel the need to flash a ROM atm
the display is amazing as well & the battery is good enough for me (getting around 5-6hrs SOT with mixed usage of Wifi/4G, while i havent even had the time to remove the bloatware)
