last night...

I dropped my phone in water, it was totally submerged.
Today its still working!
Bloody impressed.
Really? that's awesome! how long before you were able to switch it on again?
Mine was 2m high when it dropped on a ceramic floor, the sound it made was horrifying. Result ... didn't even turn off, and a 1 millimeter scratch on the top corner next to the Fcamera. Which makes me smile every time I see it.
And for God's sake... enough with these meaningless thread titles.
And if you get any scratches, you can simply replace the battery cover, thanks to the (in this respect) awesome design of this phone
if you can perform a call underwater i'll be "bloody" impressed.
so, what happened to the dust under your screen? was it wet?
Someday I went to swim with a Samsung SGH-E 720 till it vibrates cause of an INCOMING sms!
As fast as I could i got out of the water turned off (pulling battery)...
2 days after lie on the heater, turned it on and: EVERYTHING just worked fine!
Sometimes u just a lucky person
I got some cat litter stuff stuck it in that and left it for 24hours in a hot room.
Its been fine since.

[Q][SOLVED] Faded Screen

Hey guys,
I have a problem. My brother's phone doesn't look good. ):
As you can see from the photos the screen looks washed out and the sides and corners are dark. This happened yesterday. The phone was on and charging during the night, and when he woke up the screen was like this.
As you can see on the top of the screen there is also a black spot. This was smaller yesterday, but appears to have grown; the screen appears to be deteriorating. Just in case, the phone was also put in recovery mode but nothing changed; it is clearly a hardware issue.
Some details: On Saturday, the day before the problem, he was out at the beach. The phone was in a bag on the beach in the sun. The bag's bottom was wet, but the phone was nowhere near the bottom. Anyway, the phone's screen was fine at that point.
Has anyone experienced this before? Can anyone help? Thanks!

Why did you use snap chat to share the photo?

My Note 2's battery was at 4 percent, so stock camera app would not let me take picture. So I used Snapchat!

I don't think so, I will ask me brother when he's back home. Could that have an effect?

I don't know if that would make a difference, my display is on all night every night on the charger and I have no ill effects to the screen. But, if he had a faulty screen to begin with, that could cause some issues I'd imagine. And with all the issues popping up about the N5, I wouldn't rule out a defective screen from the manufacturer.

I can confirm that the screen wasn't on all night during charging.

Yea, the charging all night shouldn't really have any effects on the screen..
I wouldn't rule that it being a defect, no; after some research I found some people complaining about yellowish tint to their Nexus 5 screens but from the images it does not look as bad as this, so we are still wondering what it is.
The Nexus will spend the night in a bag of rice just in case there is water inside. :good:
It can still be water (steam) damage. You said that phone was in a wet bag so it is possible that under some heat there was some steam/moisture that could damage the phone. But still I hope it is not that, because warranty would be voided...

Problem solved guys.
Tenhi seems to have been right. Moisture.
My brother assumed it was that so he put his phone in a bag of rice for a few hours and it got slightly better. But since he bought the phone from ebay and it has no warranty, he followed this guide to open the screen and wipe all the plastic (or whatever) layers behind the screen (the reflector, diffuser, and lenses or whatever, see the video). Then he left only the screen part in the rice bag for hours and now the phone is as good as new (almost).
It still has kind of a violet tint in the middle of the screen, if you look at the phone from the side but from the front it isn't evident at all. The screen also had green edges that disappeared.
For anyone wanting to attempt this procedure I would suggest only doing it if you have no warranty and if you have some experience in opening up a phone and/or feel confident about it. Also simply putting the screen part of the phone in rice would probably suffice, there probably is no need to take out and wipe all the 'plastic' layers behind the screen, I am thinking.
Anyway, you can see the photos of the phone attached.
It's great to see it "fixed". I managed to ruin my old phone in a similar way. It was in my pocket during one wet hiking day. I had my waterproof jacket, but moisture going out from my body ruined the phone totally.

That's too bad. /: It didn't even turn on?
Also, now that a few days have gone past the phone is back to normal! There is no longer any violet shade or any washed out colours!
Wow...guess I better watch how much I'm sweating while I carry my phone in my pocket lol
I have the same problem!
I got the same problem when I put my Nexus 5 on charging the whole night and When I woke up I found my screen with washed out effect and corners of the screen were alright just the middle portion of the screen was having purple tint appeared when screen is black out but on!
After having this problem I charge my phone via USB and put my screen on highest brightness, I found the effect is lowering after two days.
Do you find any solution for that?

Shower with it?

Should you, could you, would you, take a shower with the Gear 2?
[CONCLUSION]
Manual says soap is not advisable, but if you forget that you are wearing it while walking in to the shower its no problem.
Should I? Not unless it's something I CANNOT miss (probably the only time is if a baby is on the way). I can spare 5 seconds to take watch off and on.

The Gear 2 is water resistant up to 3 meters for 30 minutes. You could. I am not sure you should. What is the point of wearing the watch in the shower? I wouldn't because I have no reason too.
I wouldn't fret about walking to my vehicle in the rain however.
This video shows the Galaxy Gear water test... and the Galaxy Gear was not rated as waterproof at the Gear 2.

It is Waterproof
I have took two showers with it already and it is working fine have had no problems it is even touchable in the shower but not like it is when it is dry very nice though

I wasn't saying that its not possible. I was pretty sure it would be fine since it's rated IP67 (one meter for 30 minutes), but I don't see the point.. wait.. Ahh.. hmm.. Are you watching porn on than tiny screen? lol
According to the manual, soap is not advisable. Which kinda defeats the point of a shower really
Sent from my SM-N9005 using Tapatalk
No but haven't tried watching movies yet
takes too long to transfer. and porn haven't tried to transfer movies to it unknown as of yet if they will play. i will try to download movies to it and see but as you say the screen is small. the note 3 has a better picture so i wouldn't waste battery for it. it already drains playing music

Thanks guys, I updated my main post with the conclusion that its not advisable because of soap, but if you forget you are wearing it its no problem.
why not but would not
I took a shower with it
The speakers stop functioning if they get in contact with water (this also happens if you put your watch in glass of water. thereafter, the speakers don't work for a short time)
That's the only thing I've noticed so far
everything else works fine
I've showered everyday with it... no problems here. I take it off and wipe it clean and put it back on. You never know when you might miss an important phone call
I wont chance it. Nothing is that important it cant wait for my 20 min shower.

I've showered with it since I got it and it's holding up just fine. No point in having a waterproof watch if you can't even shower with it. Next up; Waterworld and the beach in Maui! We'll see how this goes... lol

Speakers don't stop working, there is too much water on the little hole, just blow some air with your mouth or lightly with an air dust pc spray.

took mine for a dip in the hottub last night was in there for about 45 min just relaxing with some friends.
checked a few xda posts, text notifications ect ..
tested out music player on it , and as others stated it gets all muffled , just have to blow on speaker and its fine a few minuets later.
only thing I would worry about is long term affect from the chemicals in the hottub we run bromine in ours and over time it could degrade the plastic or the strap I'm thinking .
Chemicals in the water (shower, pool, hot tub) will eventually degrade the seals and you will end up with a brick. This is not a Suunto. And I doubt Samsung intended it to be exposed to water for long periods of time on a regular basis.

The user guide specifically says not to expose it to soapy water (as in a shower)! It also points out in the user guide that the pressure of the water may exceed standing water at 1m depth, for example in a waterfall, crashing waves in the sea....and I would think this would extend to a higher pressure shower. It also says that you should dry the watch whenever it has become wet!
It really is water resistant...NOT waterproof and certainly not intended for underwater operation.
I made 2 baths and a couple of showers with the gear 2 and everything is ok. I will take the gear of only in pool or at sea.

How do you guys wash your wrist under the watch? That's one of the places I sweat the most.

Exactly... I jog all the time and one thing I hated with the Gear 1 that it was not waterproof so I took a lot of time to clean it on the inside of the band since I tend to dress-up for work daily wearing the Gear. Plus being a real runner you will get caught in rain...but my sweat counts more than rain since I live in the HOT humid South.
So I shower in mind to clean it and I don't put soap directly on it but by all means I clean the stink of the nasty sweat off my arm and inner band of the watch...more water very mild amount of soap...same as I did with Gear 1 but never put it in the shower...
If Samsung is going to be serious about a workout gear then water, sweat, etc is part of it so if they say it can withstand water damn I am going to get it in water...if fails then why I have a warranty...
By all means if you work out in it please clean it...under the band can smell like an a$$ if you not cleaning ANY of your workout gear that includes the arm holder for my Note 3 when I jog....

case, cover, any lens protector can cause this issue
if thr s no physical condition just test camera with another Camera app and send result
:good:
i did a test recently with really low light shots, without flash and i got the blue haze as well. if i remember correctly, only on the 8 mp shots (other shots were 20 mp)...
i think the whole scene was just to dark for the camera and you had no flash on (?)
no case or cover here!
Same here, I get this blue haze in the corners, usually low light or indoors
I get it randomly in low Light shots. Not sure if i should just return this one and switch into premium or another z5...
Lähetetty minun E6653 laitteesta Tapatalkilla
Anyone know why the camera does this yet? Low light shots, some come out absolutely great, almost good enough for me to consider keeping the phone, but most have blue dots or blue light in the areas of black which should stay black.
Flash off, black areas have blue cast and blue dots, flash on, blue haze.
Android 6 and manual controls should improve this camera ten fold.
I don't have this phone yet but will get one tomorrow.
Make sure the camera is clean from fingerprint.

Sent from my E6653 using Tapatalk
Just to confirm, Sony Z5C here and random bluish hue at edges or other parts that should have been black or dark by default. No cases nor covers, SA and Manual, little less when capturing with Night mode, but sometimes it also processes that blue noise. It irritates me...
You can remove this hue by using iso 400 or less in manual mode.

Dropped in water- gives alert but no screen colour

Hi all,
I dropped my ((*&(*&(*&)()* phone in kombucha. It was there for a good while. Any rate, i took out the parts and dried it out.
However when i power it one ,it has a grey screen with no colour. Though, it does give me auditory alerts.
What's going on, is it serious? How much to fix it?
