Hi guys,
About 3 weeks ago I noticed that in certain light, I could see a grid of dots, starting from 5mm from each side of the screen. These dots were arranged in some a regular pattern, so I assummed it was screen sensors, that I had not see before.
However last week, I noticed this same area was now becoming strangely colored. Its difficult to explain, but viewing the screen at an angle or in certain light, that area of the screen looks like the screens plama is leaking. Its similar to if you put a drop of clear oil between the screen protector and the screen itself. This is definatly occuring on the internal part of the screen. So im going to call up HTC this week, and if they request me to send it back, do I need to un-hard-spl the phone? If so how do I do this?
Thanks
I had similar issue with my old Himalaya in the past. It seems like an oil spot between surfaces under specific angle. Now I have another problem with screen on my Rafi-Some blue 'clouds' visible all the time after accident with my car(I lost my phone with case on the parking place and someone-maybe me also drove very closely around it,so the device is just a little bit damaged, but not so much).
I have same problem on my Touch Pro, but my seller say to me this fabrication problem...not important problem...but its very distrubity

I faced this problem in Touch dual before, and the screen was replaced in warranty.
now i've the same in my TP, but this time it clearly decreased the touch screen sensitivity...
i'd say go for replacement.
I encountered the newton's ring problem-term given to me by a HTC staff. I got the handset from O2 but they seemed clueless about this. The problem is that it disappears and then re-appears randomly. Third time I have seen it. I have also encountered the 'oil spill' effect under specific lighting. I can't see it anymore though.
Will drop into an O2 shop asap.

my Fuze has this oil spill effect too.. going to try to put it in a bag of desiccant overnight to see if its just moisture
I have this weird issue i have only just noticed. In the middle of my screen, there is almost a perfect rectange of slightly discoloured, rainbowy effect on the screen. It is right in the centre of the screen, and goes to aout 1cm from the edge the whole way round.
Its like the digitizer has detached or pushed up against the screen. I cant remember doing anything to it. And if i run my finger over it, the rainbow effect moves/follows my finger then snaps back to the rectangle (kind of like when you have a bubble under a screen protector).
Also the area under this spot is slightly less sensitive and seems to be giving the odd random input.
Do you rekon this would be covered under warranty? I cant remember doing anything to the screen, and the fact is so pefectly placed in the middle of the screen.
Hey,
Mine does this as well... It's a perfect rectangle, and only visible in strong (especially flourescent) light. Can't notice any differences in input though. Interested to see what people think, and if it's a common problem. Can't remember any incident that could have led to this, I take care of my phone.
In case it helps, it's a UK Vodafone Touch Pro, with the latest HTC WWE ROM.
I have had a similair effect but not a perfect rectangle. somewhere mid screen slightly to the right I had a bubble of rainbow colour. I actually thought it was underneath the screenprotector so i bought a new one to change it. To my surprise the bubble was still there but internally.
I used to have my phone with the protective leather thingy in my jeans. I decided to take it out for a while. And what do you know. after a day the bubble dissapeared. I then put it back in my jeans and checked every hour. The bubble came back. So i'm guessing pressure on the glass internally or something.
Nowadays I dont carry it around in my tight jeans anymore. I use the protective leather that came with it and put it in my jacket pocket instead.
Edit: It has all the attributes xternal listed. The bubble that is.. less responsive random input rainbow following finger. In my case it has been due to pressure on the screen from my tight jeans. Yours might be something else though...
thanks for replies guys, sounds identical to what i have. i thought it was screen protector too, took it off to clean and noticed it was below. wasted blue, i was almost about to edit my post to include exactly what you said about flourescent light.
maybe it has happened from being in my tight jeans, strange that wasted blue and i have the same sized area though.
i have a fuze.
Mine is the Htc Touch Pro from HI, KPN Netherlands.
Xternal i would suggest you don't keep your phone in your jeans for a while and see if the bubble dissapears. Might take a few days at first. just put it in your jacket or something. If it dissapears you know what it is. I don't think this will fall under warranty. if it sticks regardless of pressure you might get warranty...
Oeh i just remember. If the backlight is out you will see a blacker than black dot on the screen where the bubble is supposed to be. if the light goes on its rainbowy fluorecent.
Thanks King, i have taken the protector off and will keep it out of my pocket. The pattern is the same if the backlight is on or off. Id post a photo, but its really hard to get it to show up in a photo.
Im of the opinion now that as you say, the digitizer is pushed against the screen, not detached. Hopefully it pops back
Hey guys.. same issue for a lot of people
It is something like this:
http://contactus.htc.com/Download.aspx?TicketID=396548&ReplyID=2&FileName=IMGP6088.jpg
Look at what HTC told me:
New Response From [ Cathy (Malaysia Support (Tech)) ]
Dear xxxx,
We regret to inform you that based on our warranty policy, we can not provide you the free repair on this issue.
If the touch window having some rainbow mark, it is caused by extra force enter to the touch window and it is under user misused. Thus, there is no Warranty Provided.
Thanks.
Best regards.
HTC
After some rants:
Thank you for contacting HTC. With reference to your query, we understand you are upset for this issue. But according to the HTC warranty policy, the LCD is not covered by warranty. Please check the attachment for HTC warranty policy. For the "newton rings" issue, we recommend you send it to service center to replace the LCD. Thanks.

Thanks for the help guys, I'll try keeping it out of my jeans pocket for a while. Sounds like this "newton ring" problem in the other therads though. I'd tried replacing the screen protector as well before, but no joy there. Might need to try to get a replacement (took out insurance on it), but guess I'd need to flash back to the carrier ROM.
Anybody know how good Vodafone UK's insurance is about newton rings?
Just read kingpinda's post again, when my backlight is off I can still see the rings, so doesn't sound like the same problem. I'll still try it though, thanks.
Hello xda members, I have got a problem. I recently put my phone on a plate with the display showing down to hear some music. I did not know there was soap on the plate. After hearing some music I realized that my display was not reacting and then I saw the soap. I wished it away thinking it is not bad because it was only a bit soap and the display was faced to the bottom. I restarted it by putting the battery out and in again but the display was showing only the htc logo and then it went black i took the battery out and put my phone into a box of rice. after a day my phone showed smething, it was very dark but i could use it like normal. again it went dark after about 2 minutes. now its dark all the time no matter what i do. what can i do? the soap got somehow under the display i think. It could be too that in the soap there was a bit of water but i am not sure and the waterindikator under the battery is white. Sorry for my bad english.

Visit local HTC repair service. U lost warranty for sure because in your phone are indicators. When they contact with water or even humidity they get RED. I was just cleaning my Sensation under battery and it get red, then i visit VSP Data and they checked phone then replaced it because it was really only one red.
U could give it more time in rice without battery and if it doesnt help u will need to repair it in service. Maybe new motherboard or display
I dropped my phone in the MUD face down and I used the rice, you have to be patient with it but take it apart, dry everything you can with q tips, (this worked for me) I mean EVERY spot you can reach! Then try the rice. If that didn't help you have two choices, you can take to a repair shop, OR you can replace the screen yourself. You tube has a perfect how to video on how to do it. I'm assuming its the screen not the motherboard. Either way when you open it up you will likely see the water or soap still in there. When you see it dry it with the q tips. It is a pain, trust me I did it but it works! In my case I was lucky enough for the sensor not to show damage of water.I wish you the best, hopefully you can fix it yourself. Best wishes.

i am not sure if its really a screen burn, but a few marks on screen i could be wrong
Could you take a picture of your screen? To determine if it is burn in. Can't imagine because of would require to display the keyboard several hours if not longer.
It has like marks on the screen ,I changed covers it got reduced
Is it like scuffs on the screen it's self? Maybe from a case or something using against the screen? If you had a screen burn image left it would look roughly faint yellowish and cloudy, if it's not like a faint image of a icon or something along those lines.
Lol I have the same thing. The entire keyboard got burnt in and the WhatsApp logo. Extremely visible on white backgrounds. Happens when you put the S6 to full brightness and leave it on for a night or so. It is safe to carry, but dont expect the screenburn to go away
Here's the burn in on mine. Sorry the picture is not the best, I had to use an old Nexus 5 to take it. It was like that when I bought it. The lady that sold it to me owned it for a year and a half.
I'm a lot more careful about leaving images on the screen that will burn in. I even change my dock icons regularly.
Anyone get a spot like this on their screen? It's not a daily and a few days ago when I turned it on that spot was there. It's not the screen protector as I peeled it back and it's still there. Any ideas?

My screen is fine, but it looks like your LCD is degrading or something is behind the LCD like glue.
Did you drop it? I dropped mine with no case out of my shallow pocket getting out of my van. The drop was ~ 4' direct hit on the corner of the cement curb, point of contact being right above the power button on the titanium lining. A few scratches on the titanium/plastic lining at the point of contact, but the tank phone shrugged it off like it was nothing. At least I thought so as I put it back in my pocket, whilst subsiding the shock of dropping my baby in such a brutal way. Later on I took my phone out to check my bank account and the bright white background revealed a not so pretty bruise on the LCD looking alot like this but next to the power button area. My heart sank, I thought to myself, this is it. It will never be the same. That was a few months ago, it wasn't noticeable on any background not white, so I learned to live with it. Trying not to remember it every time I used my phone. Sometime in the last month or so, I looked for it again. Checking for it on white backgrounds, and amazingly, yes. It actually healed itself somehow. Praise the Lord!! I am so lucky, it only briefly returns if I put significant pressure on the point where it lived. I can see swirls of light where it seems something beneath the LCD is providing counter-pressure on a small point when pressed. My points being:A-If you dropped it, there's why it happened and B- if so, there is hope of self healing. Sorry for the essay, it's the first time I've told this story so there's no short version yet. Lol

It fell from much less than 4'(exiting a vehicle) and that was months ago in June. It was fine and it just got there a couple days before I posted
Didn't noticed my phone got one until earlier today do you guys think this will get worst than it is now?
I've seen these dark spots on several phones that has been in for repairs and all of them came in contact with some form of liquid..
