Good morning, I would like to ask a question :
Don't know if this is possible with stock samsung SIII I9300 camera application and mx player.
I would like to record my daughter while she dances listening to an audio from a video playing in the background.
How could this be managed ? Maybe this is not possible in android, because it is supposed to be a great feature for snapchat in iOS.
Greetings and thanks in advance

It's possible.
Open MX Player Settings >> Player
Disable "Play Alone"
Enable "Background Playback"
Now Play the video & enter into background playback by home key
open your video recorder & start recording.....
Note: You can Play/Pause audio from notification bar...

Perfect!!!! thank you very much
I had a problem with a playlist.
I created the playlist.m3u file
Code:
#EXTM3U
#PLAYLIST:Video
#EXTINF:30, Snikers
/ sdcard/MEDIA/snikers.mp4
#EXTINF:60, Coca-Cola
/sdcard/MEDIA/coca-cola.mp4
#EXTINF:92, Sony
/ sdcard/MEDIA/sony.mp4
After playing of the first snikers.mp4 file, video stops and the timer of time of the clip continues to go infinitely and doesn't switch to the following clip.
If the playlist is such contents
Code:
/ sdcard/MEDIA/snikers.mp4
/sdcard/MEDIA/coca-cola.mp4
/ sdcard/MEDIA/sony.mp4
that mx player is simple during playing of the first clip switches to the following file not from a playlist and the file from the same folder
MX doesnt support m3u list now, I hope that for next big update we get this.

It's not exactly true.
MX Player can play m3u files which is hls compliant. It's a limitation of ffmpeg.
I can watch hotstar videos which is basically a m3u list.

Well, I was thinking exactly about channels inside a m3u playlist.
MX doesnt show the list of channels, but I can play m3u8 channels of course.

Still no support for m3u8 as playlist after 7years
How hard it can be?
I can't pass multiple videos from DLNA without this.
Hi. Android 6.0.1. Samsung Tab Pro 8.4. Mx player 1.8.x
In the video, two audio tracks (Russian-English). Launch the video plays the English track, but shows that the Russian track is selected. It helps switching to English and back to Russian. If you minimize and deploy an application, the audio track again slips into English. Please help, this is very annoying.

Sorry for my English)
Hello,
Similar problem here, only happens while using the HW audio decoder. In my case, the phone keeps changing the audio stream to "Disable", instead of "Audio track #1".
Choosing the SW audio decoder fixes the issue.
Android 4.2.1, bq Aquaris 5.7, Mx Player Pro 1.7.40 (ARMv7 NEON)
Best regards.
Any news from the developer?

If it's fixed after updating the cm probably it's a bug from ROM. HW decoder uses android mediaplayer class to play the video. Even though MX Player has some control on it, it's very limited. If HW+ is working on your device, you could use it. In most of the condition it will work better than HW.

Hopefully it's only on HW decoder.
Does it reproducible in SW decoder (if HW+ not available)..?
Can try again after disabling HW audio track selectable from settings > Decoder..?
It will be better if you can provide a small sample clip. I will test myself.

Can you share a small sample clip..?
Kindly provide a way to reproduce the issue.
It might be an issue with HW decoder. It just uses Android's native api. MX Player has limited control on HW.
Did you try again after disabling "HW audio track selectable". If it's an issue with Native audio track selection, disabling it may fix the issue.

It seems to be an device specific issue. it might be an issue with your hw decoder which is basically system decoder. When the "HW audio track selectable" is enabled, In my device it shows as English Track is selected & it plays the same.
When it's disabled the MX Bug comes into picture. It doesn't pick any track since both are ac3. But, if I select any track it can still play since custom codec is already loaded. Anyway it can be fixed by enabling "SW Audio" manually in Settings.
I will forward the informations to the MX Player developer.
FYI,
BS & VLC are using their hardware acceleration engines by default instead of mediaplayer based one. So, it will be like HW+ in MX. That's why the issue doesn't appear there.

In my devices everything is fine on HW. it always selects the right track.
It's broken on your system (ROM). MX Player's control over HW decoder is very basic since it just uses mediaplayer API provided in Android.
Just use HW decoder with SW audio till MX Player gets new HW+. It's the only way to handle.

I use Pocket Casts for my podcast app and really don’t want to change it if possible.
Most of what I watch/listen to are video podcasts. Since Pocket Casts won’t do variable speed playback of video it allows you to play via an external video player.
Currently I use VLC which allows me to change the playback speed (without changing the pitch of the people talking) I am looking for a recommendation that will allow me to play a video but while the phone is locked (playing just the audio) that I can play/pause via headphone while locked with the screen off and still keep my variable speed playback then keep going when I unlock the phone.
I’ve already tried; VLC ,BS Player ,MX video player, Beyond Pod and others and have yet to find one that can do this while locked without stopping the playback.
Can anyone recommend a video player that will allow for playback speed while locked?
I’m running Note 3 with lollipop.
Thanks
VLC has an option to play only the audio of a video file
Have you tried archos video player?

Thanks.

Apparently there are 2 version branches of VLC in the play store and I had the old one 0.9.10. I installed the other one (1.7.5) and now I am able to do background playback.
Thank you very much!!! :good:
Hi All,
I'm curious if MX Player is compatible with Android N.
There are a few reports that the Pro version crashes as soon as it is run.
Can anyone confirm if this is true on the Pixel C running Android N?
Many thanks!

Yes. Unfortunately pro version has broken.
Google has implemented the new restrictions which prevents the developers from accessing non public APIs.
Pro version is crashing while checking the license.
Android N is on early preview for developers & not for the daily users. OTA is doesn't check the prerequisites. It has hard bricked many devices.

Also I'm not getting any audio running (non-pro) mx player under Android N on a Nexus 6.
For those of you running Android N on a Nexus 6, just an FYI that VLC works, though it can be choppy at times.

Probably your video might have ac3/dts audio track. Kindly download custom codec from my custom codec thread.

I have the AIO 1.8.x custom codec installed. Looks like network streaming a file with an AC3 audio doesn't show the audio stream, but locally playing a file locally with AC3 audio works. (Same file both times.) So I don't think it's a codec issue.
VLC is playing the audio stream from the network streamed file fine.

Google has restricted usage the non public APIs. So, the existing H/W+ method may no longer possible. The developer is already working on alternative method. It may take some more time to land on beta channel.
Till that we have to wait......

Android N feedback. When MX Player is in multiwindow it stops whenever anyone interacts with the other app. It starts playing again when touched again.
I assume that it an interaction with the Multiwindow lifecycle which causes other apps trouble as well.
See http://developer.android.com/preview/features/multi-window.html
Willing to test and send logs if of use.

It's because of the way multi-window implementation in Android N. When you interact with other apps it switches other app in pause state. The player needs to be changed to work on pause state.
BTW, enable "Background Play" from Settings > Player. So, MX Player will continue to play even when other apps are set to Top.
One more thing if other app also using some multimedia content like audio/video playback MX will loose audio focus. So, it may pause. If you want to play despite of audio focus, disable "Play Alone" from Settings > Player.

Audio play issue with build 3 of Android N.
Mx-player fails to play the audio files (songs) using sw codec. It only play them with HW codec.
It worked great playing the same songs in build 2 of Android N.
The files are a mix of mp3 and flac songs.
another questions, is how can I force Mx-player to use hw codec for songs, it kept reverting to sw codec and I had to manually change codec for each song.
