FYI
They are all the same .....X metal cable just different name and prices.

I know it IS compatible voltage and amperage wise.
My question was if it is compatible because the bottom of g flex 2 is kind of SLASH CUT.
The ebay sellers description says a lot of phones are not compatible because bottom of phones are not flat.

just got this from ebay , looks nice and works perfectly with the flex 2 . only thing is now i have to buy more mag cables to use in my car and when im out and about .

I got one from ebay but it sticks out too far when it's plugged in. I don't think I'm going to use it because I'm afraid it will snag something and damage the usb port.
Edit: After reading some Amazon reviews it seems that the micro usb is a tight fit by design so that it stays in place securely. I was scared to apply too much force and break the phone, but I gave it a good push and it popped into place. It sits nearly flush with the bottom of the phone (not perfect because of the curved bottom edge) and seems to be working well so far.

Because if you use the one that came in the box and it fries your phone, it's covered under warranty?
Are there any online that are cheap and GUARANTEED not to fry your phone?
Offtopic: I can't believe shorting any pins on an HDMI interface to the phone chassis (or to one another) can fry your phone. What kind of ****ty design is that anyway?
This one works perfectly for my SGS2 and my wifes G2x: http://www.amazon.com/HDMI-Micro-Ca...B003VWYBC2/ref=pd_rhf_p_t_1?tag=5336653508-20

i wish every phone came with one that had hdmi out
I accidentally bought a 2X and it came with and HDMI cable, (which I kept when I sold it for a G2X)
the manual that came with mine said that a microsd card in included in the package. there wasn't. the guy at the wind mobile store took down my info and said he'd get back to me. it's been 6 months. i don't think i'm hearing back.
oh, i also did not get an hdmi cable, though i did buy a package with it, a usb cable, screen protectors and probably a bunch of other crap for something like $10 off ebay a week after i bought my phone, so it's all good. i guess.

Purchasing a micro USB cable

Hi, I hope you're doing well.
I'd like to purchase an additional high quality micro USB cables. Any thoughts on where I can get one?
I know eBay merchants have generic micro USB cables, but their quality may be lacking. Also, the Nexus 4 micro USB cable has 4 pins instead of 5 pins. Also, some generic low quality cables will charge slower.
Thanks!
Vic

Thanks for replying.
Is there a specific item or merchant that you'd recommend?
Will any of these cables work for the LG Nexus 4 for in-car USB charging?

Numbers one and two would be fine but I would use caution if you have a case on your phone. The LG cable has a large plug and there may be clearance issues. I would not get the third one because I don't trust those retracting mechanisms. They look like they would break easily. Number 2 would be my choice.

Of the three links you put, I wouldn't touch the third one with a 10ft pole. These are very common low quality cables mass produced, re-badged, and sold across the world. If you go to a Pound Store in England, these are the kind of cables you will see... without the logo. You can buy super-low quality cables anywhere, but you aren't guaranteed of their longevity, or quality... or even functionality. I bought a cheap cable from a Pound Store once because I needed one right away to charge my phone and it did just that. However, one day I figured I'd do some dev work and that cable was sitting on the side. I plugged in and nothing happened... strange... I plugged in a different device... again nothing. I tried a different cable and it worked fine. I chopped the cheap cable in half (only in the interests of science ) and it turns out the data cable, part of the USB standard plug, was totally missing. Only power and ground, (and maybe one of two data cables, i dont remember) was present.
I currently use an Akasa cable. Like most Akasa products, they are very durable. It never seems to wear out. Mine is thrown in my bag, used all over the place, pulled, plugged in, its heavily worn but it still works. It's not fashionable like the ones you put above, but it's very reliable.
Best of all, you can't beat the price at less than £3.

You really don't need to spend much to get a good quality USB cable, but if you do buy cheap, you will no doubt be buying again very soon.

photon q in a photon 4g navigation dock?

Just wondering if the PQLTE is compatible with the P4G car dock by Motorola. I see P4G's are running for $21 (and also comes with charger and cables) on Amazon, while the PQ's is running for $48.

I wouldn't think so...I own both phones and the Q has the ports at a different location on the side of the unit...but hey, why use the dock??? Just use the cables, cut the plugs for the USB and HDMI out of the dock and plug them in! Would that work?

I bought the PQ LTE nav dock off ebay.
Funny, looking on the motorola website there is no dock listed for this phone. There are some docks it looks like would work with the phone though. It obviously all depends on the where the ports are located but I think some othe rmoto docks may be interchangable. Hopefully someone more knowledgable can chime in.
The part number of the original 'Vehicle Navigation Dock For Motorola Photon Q' by Motorola is KPM5778Q.
Yes, it's not listed on Motorola pages any more.
I'm using one and I'm very happy with it.

Thanks for the part number I looked for it earlier briefly to no avail.
I have had both phones and can tell you that the original photon and the lte docks look mostly the same but the connectors are in different positions. I think the one for the original was actually a little better constructed too. FYI i just did a search on amazon for photon q car dock and it was there for $50
You don't need to go through Moto to get it anyway....I got mine cheaper through an online retailer. This is the cheapest place I can find it right now via a Google Shopper search:

USB Cable / Neo Hybrid

So i'll preface this by saying, there isn't a thread dedicated to this topic, and the other topics don't really address this issue head on. It's really to try and provide neo hybrid owners with a good source of where to get a cable that meets all the requirements.
Basically neo hybrid owners, besides the cable supplied with the galaxy nexus:
micro usb cables currently being used,
whether or not you had to modify it in any way
if it [email protected] the standard 1900mah rating
i've struggled to find a usb cable that works other than the oem, which is a bit shorter than i'd like. i went through a bunch of cables without the case on and to my pure shock, most of them charged at a rate ranging from 300 - 780!

so went through about 10 cables, only one non oem cable actually rated 1900mah charge rate, which was by iluv but doesn't fit the neo hybrid. scoured the amazon reviews and no one really mentioned working cables there just that they had issues with non oem cables on there as well

The white Kindle cable I have fits. I have no idea what rate it charges at, though.
My media bridge charging usb charges at full rate, but I had to mod it to fit.
Note that media bridge sells two different types of usb cables. The ones with the grey connectors are charge only and that is what I am using.
They are dirt cheap and ship prime on Amazon, so modding them is not to scary.

hm, actually ordered two cables from media bridge (the black connectors). One i lost (ordered 2 because I knew it would lose one) and the other actually stopped working. You just reminded me to call about warranty, as they have a nice 1 year warranty.

actually managed to find my spare cable, it's great in terms of quality and it charges @ 1900mah, and i'm waiting to hear back about the cable that isn't working (the prongs no longer keep the cable in place when connected). i'll have to modify this type of cable to work but it's better than using a cable that charges slowly.
I use a dremel tool to trim the plastic on the USB cable to make it mine fit. I do the same with audio (3.5mm headphone jack) cables.

i should have broken out the dremel. instead I used a razor blade, came out fine though...
also heard back about my defective cable, just had to provide some info and a picture of the cable cut in half and i'm good to go to get a new cable.
I have the black mediabridge 6ft cable. It works but it charges extremely slow compared to stock cable. Possibly because of its length? Not sure
That's odd, it charges at the same 1900mah rate that the stock cable does. It should take the same amount of time regardless.

Monoprice cables?

Just found Monoprice.com yesterday and they look like high quality dirt cheap cables.
Anybody been using them for a while? Know how well they perform? Charging rates? Data transfer speeds? Longevity?
I'm curious about how the Gold plated ones compare to the non-gold plated and premium cables.
Thanks!

Huh. So if your phone needs more than 1A it looks like only official OEM cables are good?
But for the average smartphone that needs only 1A they sound pretty good.
Now I wonder how the cheaper ones fare. Next time I am in the area I'll test them in the store. They're to far from me to just drive to, but I do go to the area a couple times a year. Save the shipping and stock up while I'm there if they're good.
Have you found any 3rd party cables that are cheaper than official Samsung but also reliably put out 2A?
My current phone only needs 1A but can't hurt to look into better cables anyhow.
Thanks.

right now im using a oem blackberry microUSB that came with my old curve. it still gives me my full 1900mah, and i know they can be had dirt cheap.
my rule of thumb is, thicker is better (thats what she said). paper thin cables you get at a kiosk at a mall or at a gas station normally are the weaker cables. the thicker the better. both my blackberry and the samsung usb cable are allot thicker then the average $.99 cable.
i suppose if your phone dosent need the higher amps, try a cheapy. my GS4 charges ALLOT faster with a proper cable, so ill spend the few extra bucks.
Okay. So OEM blackberry cables. I just bought the OEM blackberry playbook flip charger for $4.50, dirt cheap and the best charger in the house. Haha. To bad its cable is built in.
