Just wondering if the PQLTE is compatible with the P4G car dock by Motorola. I see P4G's are running for $21 (and also comes with charger and cables) on Amazon, while the PQ's is running for $48.

I wouldn't think so...I own both phones and the Q has the ports at a different location on the side of the unit...but hey, why use the dock??? Just use the cables, cut the plugs for the USB and HDMI out of the dock and plug them in! Would that work?

I bought the PQ LTE nav dock off ebay.
Funny, looking on the motorola website there is no dock listed for this phone. There are some docks it looks like would work with the phone though. It obviously all depends on the where the ports are located but I think some othe rmoto docks may be interchangable. Hopefully someone more knowledgable can chime in.
The part number of the original 'Vehicle Navigation Dock For Motorola Photon Q' by Motorola is KPM5778Q.
Yes, it's not listed on Motorola pages any more.
I'm using one and I'm very happy with it.

Thanks for the part number I looked for it earlier briefly to no avail.
I have had both phones and can tell you that the original photon and the lte docks look mostly the same but the connectors are in different positions. I think the one for the original was actually a little better constructed too. FYI i just did a search on amazon for photon q car dock and it was there for $50
You don't need to go through Moto to get it anyway....I got mine cheaper through an online retailer. This is the cheapest place I can find it right now via a Google Shopper search:

Has anyone seen the dock displayed on their website for sale yet? It looked really nice, but can't find it anywhere :-(
what website did you see it on?
Samsung's
http://galaxys.samsungmobile.com/
I've seen it on a few .au sites.
Goolge for +"Desk Mount" +"galaxy s" (can't post links , new user)
Hmm, doesn't seem to be in Denmark yet
http://www.techbuy.com.au/p/145221/MOBILE_PHONES_MISCELLANEOUS/Samsung/ECR-P968BEGSTD.asp is a link to the desk mount
Spare battery:
http://www.techbuy.com.au/p/145219/MOBILE_PHONES_ACCESSORIES_-_BATTERIES/Samsung/EB575152VUCSTD.asp
Expensive!!! Nearly double the price of the battery!!!
But the battery price is not so bad....
That is for G7?
It seems the G9 hold more charge.. http://blog.gsmarena.com/samsung-i9000-galaxy-s-full-battery-test-ready-–-up-with-the-best/
I'd probably pay that for the G9 if it's found to be a better battery.
G7 and G9 are the same battery for different countries.
See the update of your posted link from gsmarena:
Update: We saw the discussion about the different markings on the battery (G7 on some units and G9 on ours) forming up so we decided to contact Samsung and see what all the fuss was about. It turns out that the hardware specifications of the G7 and G9 batteries are identical and those numbers are only used to identify regions – G7 being for Europe and G9 for the US.

Thanks mate will buy since its local
Pretty expensive though.. does it have speakers on it too?
Did you find other sites that stock it here in Aus?
have you seen the other dock, the one that has an audio output (ie speaker) - samsung shows it being used as an alarm clock dock (with phone installed) while charging
nice idea but suspect price is going to be high - believe techbuy had it as well
Motorola Q dock
i had a spare/old Motorola Q dock at work & it chargers fine via the dock

how does it fit? how much pressure did you apply?
great stuff because those docks are cheap!
I think the google desktop dock is way to expensive, as i only need it as a charger and have no need for the A2DP function.
But all the cheap dock's on ebay uses the USB connection and not the dock pins, has anybody found a cheap dock that has dock pins connection?
It's much more convenient to be able to just drop the phone in a dock instead of needing to connect the phone to a dock, and be able to use the dock mode is a plus when you use it as an alarm clock.
I was wondering the same thing, is it that hard to reproduce that? I havnt seen anything besides the usb ones either and i have heard it can screw up the usb connection of n1s so didnt want to buy one of those
Exactly the same thoughts here
does anyone have specs of which pins do what? (i.e. do you apply +5 v to pin 1, ground to pin2, etc)
i've got some ideas on a homebrew dock.

Search for the thread: "Dock Pinout"
It seams that it alot harder, that there is a binary communication in one of the pins, not just a current that tells it to go into dock mode...
Doh! delete my post haha.
Just bought an original Nexus One Desktop Dock brand new from Ebay for $15.00 . The seller has 49 more available. It arrived today and it's all original with sealed packaging. Just throwing it out there if anyone is interested.

Too bad it isn't shipped for free outside the US. Shipping costs are more than half of the costs of the dock itself :silly:

brought last week http://www.ebay.com/itm/-/330770220824?item=330770220824
Dock US $15.00
Shipping US $8.46 (Germany)
Thats €18,65 (a new one costs 60€ at launch day ..)
I bought the dock when I first got the nexus one. If you guys get one for cheap and want to continue using the Nexus One, go for it. I mean the phone does slide down easly if the bump against the dock. But the lack of wear on the usb connector is well worth it.
Do you mind giving any feedback on this unit? I want to buy a separate charger cause I have a spare battery and OEM dock the previous owner bought new with the phone but I want to be able to charge the spare battery without swapping back and forth from the phone. Its a real hassle. I don't want to buy a charger that ends up cooking the battery.

Is there an HDMI output cable for the sensation to watch HTC watch on the big screen?
You need an MHL adapter which will convert your Micro USB out to HDMI. Then you can use whatever HDMI cable you want.

wow, this has to be the 5th time ive seen this question in the accessories thread :/
also, MHL adaptors are hard to find retail, best bet is to buy online...theyre cheaper and easier to get
I bought one from Expansys, here in the UK.
Got the 'unbranded' one - cheap, and works perfectly.
Just, whatever you buy, make sure it's 'MHL' - there are plenty of things out there which have the right plugs on each end - they won't work, unless they're MHL!!

Curious if anyone knows if the Standard Dock with Rapid Wall Charger for the Droid Bionic (89497N) will work with the Atrix 2?
The reason I ask is because it seems that one of the other dock accessories is made to be compatible with both phones ("Motorola 89508N Battery Dock with HW4X Battery and Rapid Wall Charger for DROID BIONIC and ATRIX 2)
Anyone have any luck with this?
Thanks,
Rick
OK.. Well, the standard dock for the Bionic does NOT fit... HOWEVER...
Motorola has re-designed the HD docks, and now offers a universal dock that fits a bunch of models.. I picked up the 89512N...
Motorola ATRIX 2 MB865
Motorola DROID 3
Motorola DROID 4
Motorola DROID Bionic
Motorola DROID X2 MB870
Motorola Electrify
Motorola Photon 4G
Motorola Xyboard 10.1
Motorola Xyboard 8.2
There appear to be two models: 89512N, which is simply the "HD Dock", and includes an HDMI out port on the back, as well as an audio out, and a power adapter.
There is also the 89511N, which is the "HD Station". That includes HDMI out, audio out, 3 USB ports (for Webtop), and a power adapter.
89512N is priced around $49, and the 89511N is priced around $99

Webtop hack, bluetooth KB + mouse and your standard charger is the only real option if you don't want to be taking the case off all the time. It's not a bad setup really.
So why didn't the Bionic dock work, did it not line up or something else, cause some of them are dirt cheap.

Thats weird since the new dock says it fits Bionic and Atrix 2, I wonder if they have put some play in the connectors on the new universal dock.
I've seen magnetic connectors for microUSB but I've yet to see anything legitimate yet for USB-C. Anyone seen anything?
It's my opinion that magnetic connectors make more sense then wireless charging because you can charge in bed etc without your device having to be docked to charge. And with magnetic connectors there is also no wear on the charge port.

I couldn't tell if the cable adapter went over a USBC or a microUSB cable? But it looks like 2.4 amps max?

I wasn't aware aware of this one. Thanks. I think the 2amp restriction is actually worse than no data. Probably worth waiting for a true USBC.
And that plug is round which defeats the purpose of leaving it in. The others are all flat and oval like. So you could leave it in all day

I guess it brings the safety and convenience back to newer MacBooks and other laptops with USB-C type connectors.

I was SO close to backing them as well...
I'm confident they'll ship, they've been very good about staying in touch with us all throughout the process. I think they were getting pretty close to the final samples when they had that problem with the pogo pins because the company that was selling on mischaracterized the longevity of them.
The new ones look like they should be plenty good enough. Really looking forward to getting the micro USB ones for my xbox controllers and the USBC ones for my 6 P.
