We'd either need a leaked version from Moto or a ported version from the Nexus line right? IF that's possible, I'd assume you could port over a dev release and get it now. Porting is beyond my skill level, though (since I have 0 skill) so I don't know if that'd even be possible.

I'm sure it's possible. It was done with my HTC M8, ported from the M9. If you don't want a custom ROM, then Moto should have an update ready around the same time as the Nexus phones, at least that's what happened last time (Moto even got lollipop before the Nexus 6).
That's one of the reasons I went with this device. Fast updates :good:
In one month after the Nexus release.
Custom roms should be quick in my opinion

Wouldn't a dev just be able to build from source once the 6.0 source is released?

Since we already have CM support, it shouldn't take much longer from when CM adopts Marshmallow.

Is their any possibility that devs could build for the d2vzw a AOSP 4.4 Rom?
Would it be any different than the 4.3?
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda app-developers app
My guess is that it won't happen until CyanogenMod start releasing 4.4 versions. Also since 4.3 was a minor update, 4.4 may take longer.

Key Lime Pie and 5.0 were both false speculative rumors. Google named it Kit Kat and numbered it 4.4.

But the Nexus 4 isn't on Verizon (scratches head). Besides, they had an 4.4 on the Nexus 4 the same night as 4.4 source was pushed. Primary reason why I'm likely getting a Nexus after my contract ends.

Reason I didn't say s4 was because I know it doesn't have it since I always check my roms for at least a 4.4 lol. And I think he speaks of the nexus 4 as in terms of thinking that once an aosp device is released devs can build off of it; But in reality it actually relies on the whole source code that has to be completed pushed out and updated by Google.

I doubt that the new TW will look much different than it does now. And I'm sure that when official 4.4 makes its way to our device it'll be ruined in some way by Samsung. There are a lot of things I like about TW but pure AOSP KitKat is going to win every time

There's still some things broken in CM 10.2 and the other 4.4 ROMs that are being worked on, which is why I still use 4.3 at the moment. Source coding should make it easy to fix those issues, and fully functional ROMs should come from it.
But I could be wrong, that's just my experience from other phones and other android versions. And what Samsung released today may not even be the same kind of source coding that I'm thinking of.

When the 4.4 GPE update hits, it'll be easily converted to work on all carrier S4's based off the Snapdragon 600. The international version, however, is a completely different story.

No, that OTA is for the Google Play Edition S4. Not the i337 or any other i337X phone.
But if you have a recovery installed on your i337X, then you can install a ported version of this OTA.
I doubt i337X will see KitKat OTA official for 3-4 more months.

Yes, the reason why I posted this was for your mentioned reason, custom recovery installs. I wasn't referring to any 4.4 based TW OTAs from the carriers.
Hi,
I saw that I could root my Verizon HTC One (M8) and wanted some help on what to do after I root it. What I want is to install the latest stock Kit Kat on it (basically like making it a Play Edition phone). I found a rooting guide using WeakSauce. Can someone point me in the right direction on what I should do after getting root? Is there like a single file download of Kit Kat I can get to install? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
(I have a Windows PC so if I need to build KitKat from source, I won't be able to do that).

You missed a key point. Making a pure GSM ROM work with Verizon will take some time. While it likely won't take long to get GPE running on a VZW M8, it will probably take some time to get the radio working properly.
