It's official. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3204371

Question: I use USB OTG Helper and it connects my USB to note 3 phone. Is there a hack you are working to make OTG viable on the note 5?
Sent from my SM-N900P using Tapatalk

USB otg works natively on the note 5 what wasn't working was USB otg in twrp recovery but now that it's officially supported for our device it works

So if I'm not already rooted, I can flash this and use it as a rooting method as well, correct?

Hey I hv otg support in ma twrp recovery..

No you must use a custom kernel now

This is my first experience without an SD card. If I have the rom I'm going to flash on my OTG can I then wipe internal storage as well when making a full wipe?

Yes, all current versions support OTG.
BTW, the latest TWRP 2.0 also supports mounting internal storage while in recovery so you don't even really need the OTG if connected to a PC.

You can install the slimdroid port using CWM if you want to install the full version from Lenovo you will need to make sure you have the stock recovery installed. It is tricky but it works. Do a quick search and make sure you understand how the bootable sdcards work. The A1 is almost unbrickable but it can get scary at times as long as you have a boot sdcard you will be fine.
I have been running it for a couple of days it works well the battery drains a bit faster but much better than stock. CM7 is very nice too you can't go wrong with either one.

SlimDroid v7.20 ONLY STOCK RECOVERY
CWM=brick
Good to know the other versions all worked on CWM looks like you will need to install the stock recovery before continuing.

Well, I flash someone's rom with cwm and its very unstable it doesn't have wifi , gapps, and usb mass storage but it has usb debugging, I was thinking to change the files of the recovery to cwm using adb and do a fresh install of gb, is that ok?
The first thing you are going to want to do if you want to go back to stock and that is probably best and then go from there is download the following.
http://download.lenovo.com/slates/a1/OTA/A107W0_A234_001_015_2643_US.zip
http://www.doc.ic.ac.uk/~grm08/ideapad/cyanogenmod/stock-a1-ramdisk-2643.zip
http://www.doc.ic.ac.uk/~grm08/ideapad/cwm-5.0.2.7-rev3-ideapad-a1.zip
If you have a 16gb device grab
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=23471133&postcount=409
First flash CWM 5.0.2.7 (you can use the newer one later if you want to but use this one for this)
Then if you have the 16GB model flash stock-mbr.zip and reboot into CWM. (if you have a 2GB device this will hose it the device don't do it)
Then flash the ram disk followed by the 2643 OTA.
If you have an issue installing CWM grab a bootable sdcard there are instructions in the ICS threads and use that to flash CWM.
The A1 is almost unbrickable unless you have a hardware problem you should be able to get it working again.
I inatall the alimdroid but the space for install apps is very reduce and the apps can't move tp th sd card is there any form to change that?

[Q] NEWBIE ONTO SGT2 P3110 : 2 questions please...

Hi all,
I'm a newbie with my new Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 ( P3110 ) bought yesterday...
I've used android with other devices, like my wonderful P990, but with P3110 I cannot understand some things...
1) every flash ( rom or other ) increases FLASH COUNTER right ? But I can reset it with TRIANGLE AWAY app, right ?
2) I'm on 4.0.3 now. Just bought. I would like to flash latest STABLE rom... But I cannot understand where it's necessary to change the boot loader ( I think, with this device there're 2 bootloader like with other devices... OLD BOOTLOADER up to 4.0.x and NEW BOOTLOADER from 4.1.1 and newer... ). I would like to flash 4.1.2 multilanguage 'cause 4.2.x is not enough stable for daily usage, it's correct ?
3) GAPPS are the same as other devices ( like my P990 ) ?
4) ... thinking in course...
Thx u all ! :cyclops:
1. Only when you use ODIN.
2. No, there's no reason to ever flash a bootloader on this tab.
3. Yes, cm gapps are universal.

Other question :silly:
4) this device has not a 3G inside, so only wifi / bt / gps... It's useful to update the BASEBAND ? There're basebands to flash ? :highfive:
No, there aren't modems for the 3110.
Posted from my Fascinate using XDA Premium
5) Up to now... There's no way ( rom, kernels, etc ) to mount internal and external memory with USB Mass Storage Mode... right ?! :crying:
No... What OS are you running?

No, i'm assuming that the reason you asked #5 is that you're using a PC OS that doesn't support mtp, e.g. mac or linux. Which one?

I'm using in my 5 PC Win XP, Win 7, Win 8, Linux Mint, Linux Pinguy :silly:
But more quickly : MTP works well... but it's s**t ! I hate MTP ! :crying:

There is no UMS unless a dev tries to put it in. There is actually a way to mount mtp on Linux, see http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=22570487

[Q] USB OTG in Recovery

Hey all,
Thinking about getting a Nexus 5, but I have one major question:
Does CWM or TWRP have USB OTG support? Or is there some way to do system backups directly onto OTG storage?
Thanks!
+1
Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
Yes I have tested it on twrp works like a charm

[Q] custom recovery interface with microusb microsd reader

I've never used a phone without a microsd card. It's pretty useful to be able to flash a rom from a microsd so that you don't need to keep your working copies on the device all the time... they take up alot of space.
Do any of the custom recoveries support reading off of a microsd card reader?
TWRP supports USB-OTG. I'm not sure about CWM though as I haven't used it for a few months now.

There are many options. Use this one and flash in odin. I assume you know what that is since you're rooted. You could also use twrp recovery but I think cwm is easier to use for someone newer to custom recovery

Not a big deal. The point is its the easiest one to get started. Once installed CWM will ask to update to a newer version that will support it. Install with odin.

Pretty close to the same thing but Philz touch is gonna have more advanced options included that most dont use. Also going to have touch also which means instead of using the volume keys to navigate and power button to slect it is simply touch based.
