I think my nexus 5 is hardbricked doing a paanodandroid ota update
This happened on latest paranoid android + latest franco kernel + TWRP
I wanted to update pa gapps (first 2 downloads md5 checksum failed, third time it worked) and when the phone booted afterwards, systemui failed and I couldn't do anything. I Thought this wasn't a big problem since the phone managed to boot. I long pressed the power button to shut it down so I could boot into recovery to restore my backup I had recently made. When I tried to boot into recovery it wouldn't do anything. Not boot into recovery and not into fastboot. How is this even possible by simply flashing gapps?
What should I do?
I've tried all the button combinations for more than 15 seconds.

It doesn't boot at all no.
It was downloaded through the paranoid android OTA app. It was the 20140531 version: http://goo.im/devs/paranoidandroid/roms/gapps

I think it was just a coincidence that it failed after flashing gapps. I'd RMA it. Sounds like the emmc went bad. It's happened on a few n5's.

That's a bit good news . Thank you
As i mentioned I managed to boot once into the (not working) rom after the (corrupted I think) gapps package had been installed, does that mean that the gapps file cannot have messed up the bootloader since I already managed to boot once after installing the package?

Decided to help you guys out with a faster download.
DO NOT FLASH THIS IF YOU ARE ON OI1 FIRMWARE OR YOU WILL SOFT BRICK YOUR PHONE
How to Install:
Using odin:
Download and install the drivers
Download the Zip file
Unzip
Download Odin
Leave Auto reboot and F. Reset Time checked
Absolutely do not check repartition
Click AP/PDA
Navigate to the OF7.tar
Click Start
First boot takes a while so be patient!
This is rare but if for some reason you get a bootloop or stuck on the Sprint screen, then you will need to wipe your internal or do a factory reset. Back up any files that you may want to a computer or drive just incase you lose them.

Awesome! I'm going to do it.
Sprint s6 edge it was boot looping only staying in Android for maybe 3-5 mins at a time. So i tried to flash it. I may have flashed 5.0.x to it. Now when I try to flash I can flash cm.bin, sboot and it always dies on boot.img. I really need some guidance on what i should try next.
Looking around shows boot.img not flashing is possibly the kernel but I am having trouble finding one that it will let me flash.

Well if you did some more research you would see that it's your kernel causing problems. I won't tell you what kernel to flash because that would be too easy.

Try skyhigh kernel 2.1 and you're laughing. [emoji5] [emoji5]
I'm having that same issue. I rooted using the guide on here, using Oden, TWRP, and the Noble root Kernal. The phone is only rebooting while making phone calls. It usually happens right around 1 minute into the phone call. I have searched on here and tried coming up with something onew google. From what I have read is it something wrong with the kernal? Just hoping someone can point me in the right direction on how to correct this problem, and is all that needs to be done is flash a different kernal? If so what kernel should I use. Sorry for hijacking your thread, just didn't want to make another one asking the same question. Any help is greatly appreciated
It's a kernel issue, guys. Flash a different one and you should be good.
That's kinda what I gathered, just wanted to verrify that was the issue before I went screwing around and messed something up, thanks for the reply though.
What kernel should we try ? I'm on a tmobile note 5

If you don't know what you're doing then you should do plenty of research... You shouldn't ever "screw around" if you don't know what you're doing. Keep reading and learn how to properly flash everything before you do this stuff or else you'll end up with a fancy paperweight.

You need to flash that file through custom recovery. You have to download it to your phone then boot into your custom recovery to install it. Just follow the directions on aryer97's thread where you downloaded the kernal.
i can barely figure anything out about this model, i already soft bricked it wiping everything and then trying to install the wrong cm13. got it unbricked with a ruu but still cant find much on this model. there gonna be a cm for this model, or a work around? maybe any kind of rom thats not stock and just rooted. coming from a m9 and very disappointed on the phones hardware and now theres no cool roms to play with D:
I agree....its disappointing to say the least with how little support there is on this model. I thought with this one being the new flagship supposedly that it wouldnt be like this. Sadly, the little help from the few awesome devs on this are spent and have given up or will if no extra help is provided. It is a lot of work and if i was more experienced with more time to devote, i would be happy to assist them. Before, I used to do all this due to the lacking abilities of my prior handsets for what i wanted to do. Bright side is this one doesn't have any for me this time so i am happy with root capabilties, xposed, viper4android and twrp at least. Who knows....maybe this will be a late bloomer and more support comes around....keep my fingers crossed.
There is CM13 in dev for the euro versions and maybe unlocked version but it'll be a while before it makes its way to WHL
even with gsm there isn't really any devs or support. ill be taking mine back this week to at&t and getting a nexus 5x.

Boot bug that is present on UL versions is still there with WHL. After about 5 minutes, it seems to be hanging at the CM13 bootlogo. I gave it about another 5 minutes, now I'm just going to restore my backup.

any errors during flashing?
I'm able to boot all the way into CM13 with no issue. I'm S-OFF, not sure if that makes a difference.

Hi again, sorry for such a late response back. There were no errors during flashing at all and I am S-OFF, rooted etc. Wiped data, system, cache, boot three or more times and three or more time factory reset as well, the usual u know?

You have to let it boot loop. It will eventually boot in.

Yes, I am using hiae_whl. I saw an error message about being unable to unmount /carrier, but that's it. It didn't impact the boot. I've never had an issue with a bootloop either. I don't know if it makes a difference, but I'm not using a Sprint SIM. I'm either booting without a sim or with a T-Mobile sim.
