[Q] Nexus 5 most likely hardbricked what do I do? Please help - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I think my nexus 5 is hardbricked doing a paanodandroid ota update
This happened on latest paranoid android + latest franco kernel + TWRP
I wanted to update pa gapps (first 2 downloads md5 checksum failed, third time it worked) and when the phone booted afterwards, systemui failed and I couldn't do anything. I Thought this wasn't a big problem since the phone managed to boot. I long pressed the power button to shut it down so I could boot into recovery to restore my backup I had recently made. When I tried to boot into recovery it wouldn't do anything. Not boot into recovery and not into fastboot. How is this even possible by simply flashing gapps?
What should I do?
I've tried all the button combinations for more than 15 seconds.

So, at this point it doesn't boot at all? Do you have a link to the gapps you flashed?

It doesn't boot at all no.
It was downloaded through the paranoid android OTA app. It was the 20140531 version: http://goo.im/devs/paranoidandroid/roms/gapps

I think it was just a coincidence that it failed after flashing gapps. I'd RMA it. Sounds like the emmc went bad. It's happened on a few n5's.

That's a bit good news . Thank you
As i mentioned I managed to boot once into the (not working) rom after the (corrupted I think) gapps package had been installed, does that mean that the gapps file cannot have messed up the bootloader since I already managed to boot once after installing the package?

I just think it was a coincidence that your memory went bad after you flashed. Out would have happened even of you didn't flash the gapps. That's my theory anyway

Don't send it to an RMA follow this guide. BSOD/NoBootloader
This is a guide I created following the exact same issue you had. If THIS doesn't work then send it in to RMA

Does the PC detect it when plugged in? If so then its not hardbricked.
If you have hangouts I can try to help better.

So i am completely

So i tried to put a factory image on my Nexus because my phone kept on boot looping. Putting a factory image and restoring everything and unrooting was my last resort. I literally tried everything. So now as I'm in terminal about to be finish the process, my computer freezes and crashes. Now my phone sits on the boot loader screen. Not doing . I tried turning it off and turning it on and it only goes back to the boot loader screen. Anything I do it goes back to the boot loader screen. Doesn't even show the google logo anymore. NOthing at all. Only the boot loader screen. So anyone have any advice?
ANYONE????!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!!?!?!
If you were flashing via fastboot and your computer crashed you may be totally effed.

If you can get to the bootloader you should be able to flash the factory image. Have you tried running that again?

Okay, I'm assuming you have ADB/Fastboot set up. Do you have the factory image components in the same folder as fastboot?

Having literally the exact same problem. Would love some help
Mine is 16gb from Meteor, rooted
Had the same problem my solution is during the reboot plug in the usb cable press volum down power to get into the motorola bootloader thingy (unsure what it called)
Then use fastboot on my computer to erase the update since for me the update was in the cache I just use
fastboot erase cache
reboot and it solve the problem

[Q] Wiped with no rom to install, only have recovery now...

So yeh i wiped and thought i had a rom to install, didnt though. mistake on my part i know. can someone link or help me install the correct drivers so i can get adb working to push a rom so i can my phone up and running again?
when i boot into recovery it is only showing up as 'AOSP ON HAMMERHEAD' with the little yellow error triangle in device manager.
like i said i just need help getting a rom pushed on my phone
EDIT: im thinking about just restore stock unroot cause you can just do it from fastboot. is there anyway to get my data off before that or would you suggest just pushing a rom?
Google 15 second adb install xda. Should be everything you need. Then push a rom onto your device.

Edit, if you get adb working you could pull your sdcard. Personally I think it's easier to get a rom working and then using mtp to drag and drop what you want off your sdcard to your pc

Restart both the devices and try again. If that doesn't work again then
download the latest google drivers and try with them.
edit-http://developer.android.com/sdk/win-usb.html
But since its working for you when android is booted I see no reason for it not working in recovery mode. obv it needs to be installed correctly. Btw what recovery r u using?

reflash your rom, dirty(dont wipe a single thing). and if you dont have your rom/kernel in your storage, well, you just learned an important lesson. adb push/sideload will be your only option(besides flashing the factory img). use google to find the instructions to adb push/sideload.
Look under q&a on how to flash factory image. Did you volume down/power button to get to recovery?

Always worth having adb and fastboot set up and ready to go.
Also, anyone with TWRP shoudl update to 2.8, because MTP access is an absolute game changer! I'm actually really impressed with WRP now. I didn't think i would be.
