Phone & Snapchat issues - RAZR HD Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Over the past few weeks I have encountered a few issues. Slow phone. Apps take forever to load up. Snapchat is really buggy. I wish I could install a custom ROM but I am on the latest version of kitkat.

I typically never shut off my phone, it will run 24/7 until I switch phones or run into problems like your having. Sometimes, just shutting your phone off and re-starting will clear things up but you may also try to un-install certain apps or disable them to find out if one or more are giving you problems.
If your using "Titanium Backup", you can freeze any apps you installed recently, prior to you having issues, just to see if its an app/apps causing this problem.
You can also just re-flash the phone with RSD Lite back to completely stock, that way, you start fresh. If you do this, make sure you backup anything important (pics, personal info, etc.)

It sounds like app issues, not phone issues.

I have even flashed back to stock but yet slow still...It could possibly the app that I use to root this device. Hydrogen Peroxide.

You can try to boot into recovery and "Wipe Cache" or just "Clear cache" in Snapchat. How did you flash back to stock??, RSD Lite??. If you used RSD Lite, was the XML document a CFC or FF??.
Do you use Titanium Backup??, if you do, it has the option to "Clean up Dalvik". You might want to try that. Honestly, the first thing I would do is boot into stock recovery and "Wipe Cache Partition". This option has been a life saver for me in the past.

[Q]Home button not functioning

As posted in the gummy thread, I am experiencing my home button not functioning. Good news i narrowed it down. My roms are good and when fresh the home button operates normally. I have been up and down flashing left and right between GB and Froyo and the roms that overlay them. Titanium backup is the issue, or rather me backing up. yesterday I flashed to EE4 Eclipse pbj coming from GB NAMELESS Eclipse. I restored and that's where the problem showed. My dock went to just applications and none of my buttons worked except for holding power button. I booted to CWM and cleaned cache and wiped, i was left with a working fresh rom.... So now i have the same problem again when restored system i lost my home button, I filtered the restoration files too, only did contacts, mms and things along that line... My question what is the bad restore that i'm doing and how can i fix my current bad restore without losing everything?
thanks Jeff
I noticed that issue with earlier versions of nameless. perhaps it is something with that.
Sent from my SCH-I510 using Tapatalk
although currently i'm not running nameless maybe it autobackuped up part of the system when NAMELESS was on my device. Restoring must change a file that isn't compatible with other kernels. If only i could pinpoint the restoration file that does it and get a fake file to replace it
So randomly after 2 manual starts I lost all the launcher icons and no longer have a lock screen. This occurred after I installed a boot animation app. changed my logo, execpt I restarted once and everything was intact. The second restart was where problems arises. Tomorrow im wiping and restoring apps only. Thanks for the help nitro

Simple solution. Don't restore system data. Restoring system data can play havoc with your device when coming from and to different roms. Think about it, some of those system settings you are trying to restore might not even exist on another rom. Stick to restoring user apps, and select user app data, and then get practiced in redoing system settings after a wipe. You'll get used to it doing this over and over. It takes me only 20-30 minutes to go from completely wiped back to my usual setup.
Remember, when restoring data, less is more.
Yep thays what I was thinking. Purchased titanium pro now im back after factory reset not flash

Youtube Lag

Hi Everyone,
So recently YouTube updated to version 2.4.4, and apparently, videos launch with considerable lag that locks up the device. I've tried every rom with every kernel and they all behave the same. Maybe Titanium Backup? But it worked before...
1. Anybody else getting this?
2. Any solutions?
Wait I just installed RolleTube (version 2.1.6) and it still lags. Now I'm seriously wondering what's wrong.
something is wrong on a system level. try a fix permissions in cwm

Well, the even weirder thing is that when I just install a ROM, TiBu, and run youtube, there's no lags. Then when I reboot (because of battery or something), the lag reappears. Fix Permissions seems to be locking up in the middle of the process, and I have to hard shutoff to get the device back working. Funny thing is that youtube worked fine like a month ago...

Did that already... Even wiped my internal 16gb. Darkside wipe, fix permission, etc. etc. didn't work - still there.
Also: it seems Go Launcher also has some problems with YouTube's lag... the widget on Go Launcher lags to launch the video on the widget, while twlauncher doesn't have that (as much). Still has crazy device-locking lags though.
EDIT: Oh wow... it seems when I connect my phone to my PC it shows up as a corrupted disk... Windows is asking me if I want to fix the disk. Would that be the problem? And if it is, can I let Windows fix the disk?
I don't think I would let windows do that. It says corrupted or needs formatted?

Ok. Boot into odin and reflash cwm 5.0.2.6. Boot into cwm and format system, then data, the cache and dalvik cache. Repeat 3x. Flash stock through odin. Reboot, twice. Now reflash cwm and then flaah a rom and configure. I don't care what your problem is, that method is a guarantee fix lol

I did this, and I still had lag after restoring TiBu. Lol the look on my face when it happened
But turns out, the TiBu backup of Go Launcher was actually screwing many apps up (including YouTube)... dunno if it was a system issue, but it was the problem. Transitioned to ADW after a full wipe again (without ever launching go launcher) and all was good. Thanks guys.

Don't restore stuff across roms with TiBu. I only use it as a reference of the apps I had. So I always have a clean slate

Legend 3 ICS Edition Update

Hi there. I currently am running the Legend 2 ICS Edition ROM for Infuse 4G. I just noticed there is a new update Legend 3 ICS. If I want to keep all my files and apps, do I just flash the Update file (instead of the Full Wipe file)? And do I need to go through the same process, clear cache, dalvik cache, etc.? Probably no need to wipe data and factory reset.
Any help is much appreciated! Thanks.

I suggest do a full wipe, if you want to keep your app, "tibu" titanium backup is great and well worth app, buy it...I did and worth every dime. IMHO Tibu will and can backup your apps and restore them.
So I suggest get tibu, backup your apps, do a full wipe install Leg3 go back to Gplay download/install tibu back on, then use the program to restore your apps only in this case.
Plus tibu can do a full backup of your data & apps, say you find your DD but want to test other ROMs, use tibu to backup data & apps, go test the another ROM, and want to come back to your DD ROM, you can then do a full data & app restore...plus there are lots of YouTube vid on Titanium Backup app.

You can do the update and keep your files, which is the reason for the update. Though, like Bigjoe says, a full wipe is always prefered, but not necessary.

The reason why everyone suggests a full wipe is so that you dont potentially run into any problems after the flash. ie flash not working, or camera wont load... little things like that that make it hard to narrow down problems. One of the main things people are going to ask is did you wipe before you installed? It helps to eliminate and remnants of left over roms so that you dont have any issues with the new rom. Its called a Bad flash.
I hope i answered your question!
Thanks for all the replies! So whether it is the full wipe ROM or the update ROM, both go through the same procedure of booting into CWM first? I will try Tibu for app backup! :good:
Stuck at blue loading loop
Hey, I am new so bare with me, I just flashed this rom onto my Infuse 4g and it seems to be restarting itself and looping to the Blue Android/Dust loading screen. It seems to fix with a fresh install of the rom, but shortly starts after everything seems fine. Please help!

Try doing an odin or hemdall back to stock with partitioning, then flash the full wipe rom.

So I've been using your latest release (full wipe Legend v3) and I did factory reset, clear cache and dalvik cache, fixed permissions, etc. The phone is occasionally laggy now, usually when I open web browser it would stay on the white screen a several seconds. Sometimes, when I open my phone, it would stay on the black screen even though I never turned it off and it still has battery. So I had to long-press the button to restart. I've already rebooted and shut down numerous times but these problems still persist.
Also, bluetooth doesn't work for me. When I enable it from settings, the "Turn bluetooth on" checkbox stays unchecked and does nothing.
Should I reflash again? I did to a Titanium Backup to restore apps and settings... Any help is appreciated! Thanks.

With any rom, you should be able to install More Locale 2 from the Play Store to get support for Turkish (and many other languages).

My bet is the tibu restore of your settings is what is causing the issues, I've had problems and have known others that had problems when restoring system settings with tibu, especially if the tibu backups were done on another rom.

I only started using tibu when I had Legend ICS v2 and then I immediately upgraded to v3 using the full wipe ROM. And then I restored all apps and settings. I'll try wipe and re-flash without restoring any settings in tibu. But honestly, I only wanted to backup my widget and screen settings (such as app shortcuts on home screens) but tibu didn't back that up.

I'm a noob so I don't know what those are. But I've only flashed ZEUS final and then Legend ICS v2 and v3. Full wiped and cleared cache on all those flashes.
I've reflashed to stock and then back to Legend 3 without restoring anything. It is all better now, very snappy. The bluetooth can be turned on now but for some reason, it doesn't detect my Jabra headset no matter how many times I scan. But it detects my Macbook Pro...

Looping at boot screen, due to the last firmware update?

Hi folks, it seems that I may use some help right now. Searched around, but so far no luck is found. My rooted TF700 runs with the latest firmware and not unlocked (stock). Today she went nowhere but showing the ASUS logo and circling dots.
First, as usual, I tried to have a cold boot. Still, she didn't go further. Then I decided to wait patiently, and I think one hour is a reason to try helping her out of there. Next step, as some of you may already had in mind: RCK. Picked it up, the green robot showed up, but only few seconds before it went to sleep accompanied by that... yes, that red triangle.
Not so long afterwards, I downloaded the firmware ZIP file from ASUS's website. Extracted it once, renamed it the "usual" way, put the file at a MicroSD root and got the TF700 installing it. Installation was complete, the robot wasn't shown sleeping, and then it rebooted. At this moment I took the MicroSD from the slot so it doesn't interrupt the process.
But then what? Still the same old eight dots making the runabout form under ASUS logo. Tried cold boot once again, no luck. Then, I borrowed my children's A100 to type this help request.
I have no idea what to do. Still have the warranty valid but I want to try another thing before sending it out. It might be due to the new firmware (25 I think, I'm not memorizing firmware numbers) but it seems that I'm the only one suffering it so far. The last thing I remembered was the TF700 went sudden reboot when I click the bluetooth icon to activate it, while I'm trying to connect to a portable speaker.
I never flash any custom ROMs, it has been always the stock. Random reboots, yes, I think I'm not the only one. But now I'm getting suspicious since this happens one day after the last firmware update. The looping at boot screen.
In case anyone has suggestions or thoughts, please kindly share that here. Thanks in advance.

"Wipe data" deletes your data, right. I never did it myself, so I can't say what exactly will be deleted. Installing a firmware only replaces the firmware, not your data.
Alternatively you can try if you can connect via adb shell while the boot screen dots are spinning.

Wipe data is factory reset. If you reset your device from setting-> factory reset, it will boot into "wipe data" mode and wipe all your apps, bring everything back to factory default. At this point if you don't have a backup, I see you only have one option which is wipe data.
OK guys, thanks a lot. If you read my footer now, you know I already have access to my TF700.
I did it as you suggested, chose "Wipe Data" after several times failing with firmware recovery. Losing data in SD is not a very big deal since I always keep my "real data" in an external MicroSD, anticipating such things exactly like I just "suffered". I also backed up my most of apps and their data to the MicroSD using Titanium Backup, so it's very close to the previous state... only snappier.
So I wiped the data and got into the stock of everything, without root. Then I rolled back to ICS firmware (30), rooted it using Debugfs, installed OTA Rootkeeper, protected a copy of the root access, updated the firmware, restored root, installed TB, restore all apps and data. Then it's the matter of replacing some widgets and little "here-and-there" settings. No more than two hours overall, could be way less if the number of apps are smaller.
What was really missing is just a few downloads and some "not really important" winter photos. Movies and maps kept in the internal storage, well, I have the backup. I wouldn't say this was caused by the new firmware, but somehow I feel like I should have a suspicion at it.
Thanks again!

Just rooted, froze apps, and now stuck on Verizon screen

I just rooted last night and everything was good... This morning all I did was freeze some of the stock Verizon apps, and the system crashed. Now when it reboots, it's stuck at the Verizon screen. I can access Bootloader/Recovery, and have tried "fastboot erase cache" but that hasn't fixed it. If I let it sit, I can hear notifications and stuff in the background (I also have MightyText installed, and can send/receive texts via that), so Android is running in the background - it's just "stuck" on this Verizon screen. I'd really rather not have to do a factory reset, since I just spent last night getting everything set back up from the root process.
Any suggestions? Please help!
Uncertain. Just a shot in the dark but which recovery do you have? Have you tried doing a "fix permissions" within it?

TWRP. Just did that now, no changes.
You may have froze something you shouldn't have. At this point, I'd personally do a full wipe and reflash the ROM. If not on a ROM and on the stock RUU ROM. I would:
1) consider flashing a stock based ROM:
This ROM is 100% stock based off RUU -
http://forum.xda-developers.com/ver...-4-17-605-9-stock-resources-firmware-t3196906
2) run RUU again, and freeze one app at a time to narrow down what may have caused this.
3) you can try a wipe of just cache/dalvik cache

Next time when you're cleaning out Verizon bloat, don't take out anything that you're not sure of.
Leave in there: VZWAPN and vzwdummylibs if you dump any Verizon apps.
Besides being able to start the phone, it's got to be able to send and receive calls. I have learned this thru bad decisions and their results.....
