Hi when ever they come out, both Celox and Prime seem to have the same hardware , I think because they are both manufactured by Samsung. So I want to know what is the advantage of having a Nexus phone vs other Samsung phone?
Any input is appriciated.
Thanks
No offense intended or anything but why would you post this question in the droid charge forums???? Seems a little out of place.
But to answer the question nexus phones are usually stock and will most likely always get the updates first and a lot earlier than any Samsung phone.
Who knows. You are talking about 2 phones that we have little to no information about. No one knows for sure if the Verizon will get the next Nexus phone or not.
The only thing that I can say comparing the next Nexus device to the Verizon GSII would be that one will run touchwiz 4 and the other will run stock ICS.

I did not know where else to post, so I did post it here as I thought people here must know the best as they are already using Samsung's latest phone.
I request moderators to delete the thread.
Sorry for the inconvinience.

Yes It was helpful, probablly I will wait till they both come out and I will see if I am missing out on anything by not getting samsung and get Nexus I guess...
Prime:
Will have infinite support, updates for years, Samsung HD screen, ICS, etc, etc....
and 1280x720 I guess

Thank you Syn Ack, also I am leaning towards it because it might have 1280x720 resolution screen...
Even if they were the same phone as far as hardware, I would go with the Prime. It will have full AOSP support, from Google for at least a year, likely longer (2+?). With that comes easy porting of CM and any other AOSP based build. TouchWiz/Sense/Blur have some nice features compared to AOSP/CM in places (Camera, Calendar, Contacts, Calculator), but the overall experience will never be like a Google Experience device.
Thank you imnuts

Thank you for your input I was thinking the sameway, as I want the real google experience, the only thing I will have to look for now is how slim is it going to be compared to S2 PLUS. I have never had an issue with heavy phones though, everyone discouraged me when I got HTC PPC 6700,6800,Mogul,EVO and even Charge, but I like those because they bring their own characteristic to the device, else I would not have sold I-phone and I-pad to get back to Android.
Welp Folks, if you're reading this, you know what you have, and you know what you'd like to do, and you're probably disappointed with how things are progressing.
So I would like to ask a question: what can we ~actually~ do with our phones? So far I see the one NK1 rooted, deodexed ROM. I see the possible hotspot mod, and I see a few people have commented about some SQLite mods (link anyone?). Lollipop just arrived, though it seems that would mean reverting back to stock for OTA.
Is that it? Any hope for the future?
I love this phone, but I'm amazed at the almost complete lack of things to do with that edge (thanks Samsung). Something as simple as your phone sitting there, notifying you, and then the ENTIRE text, news blurb, whatever, scrolls across the edge. Who the hell wants to see "President Loses Cool and Shoots...." scroll from CNN?
Thoughts anyone?

Xposed working with deodex rom and the emotions kernel works too
Hey, I'm considering buy a S6 or an S6 edge but one of the things I'm worried about is the problems with RAM. I've read a lot about problems with RAM management on the S6 with it not able to keep apps running in the background. I can foresee this being very annoying. From what I've read on these forums, I know that people started editing DHA/FHA values and that custom ROMs seem to have helped a lot.
I did however read some recent posts which said that these fixes didn't work and the phones slowed down after a while and still had bad multitasking. I wasn't able to find a place where all the information about RAM fixes was collated so I was wondering if someone could point me in the right direction or tell me that with modding the S6, does the multitasking and ram management become usable? Or is there still significant problems with how the memory is handled?
I think you answered your question yourself.
There are a lot of threads in this forum about that topic and that si where you mostr probably got your information from. So need to open another one.
In the end you want an answer if to buy or not to buy (I know everybody would want that) but nobody cant do that.
It's your decision!
Skip the S6 IMO, the moto x or the new nexus will be a better choice at this point in time.
It's supposedly fixed (7-10 apps can multi-task) with the newest OH1 update pushed a couple of days ago.

Yes but is it still aggressively killing apps?
so i just found this today on
xda http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s6/orig-development/cyanogenmod-13-galaxy-s6-t3269984
it's still possible we may actually have a alpha on our notes before EOY just figured I'd put this up for you all

Ive been following their progress as well, I'll say its a lot closer than the exynos Note 4 ever got.

Threads like that make me cringe. Full of noobs who don't know how to read and just constantly ask for things.

Very exciting, I hope one of our devs will try and port it to our device
The sooner I get off of touchwiz the better in my opinion
i was just about to say that. i miss the note 4 days.
i used to flash mad roms. never again ill buy an xynos device or whatever you call it
but arter said he's not working on one for the note 5

You'll most likely have to switch to a different brand. Remember, they make phones for the world, not just us modders. Their in house processor is literally the best processor that has ever been, ever. No other processor can offer the power and longevity. If CM can harness that as well, that would be great but I highly doubt it.

@RaymanFX maintains the Note 4 (N910C Exynos), he has a successful build for CM12 and CM13 aswell

Just because Arter isnt making a build for the Note 5 doesn't mean there won't be a build for the Note 5.
Folks are getting all stressed out about this but frankly this is better news than most people should have been expecting, the writing has been on the wall for awhile now in regards to the ease of porting aosp based roms on to Exynos devices.
The rumblings started back in 2013. I just think it's bad business to buy a device that costs as much as this one with an expectation that your every need be tended to by the mod community.
It's also getting to the point that you end up losing functions of the phone's now by unlocking bootloaders. They are being crafty with how new features don't work rooted or unlocked etc, it's all to discourage the modding community, hell, last I checked android pay doesn't work on AOSP. I think they are tightening things little by little.

Look at the root situation where it was handled at the kernel level. I can't really blame them to tell the truth, its sort of expected that cellular companies and manufacturers would not make it easy for the dev community. It's like a cat and mouse game, the cat will always be the cat and the same goes for the mouse.
Heck tactics like these have even bled over into computers. My Samsung laptop has secure boot firmware in the motherboard so I can no longer dual boot linux. Only way to run linux is to wipe windows off or run a live cd...
I'd definitely give it a whirl. Not sure if I'd stick with it though, I like the camera and the Spen features on this phone too much.
It's nice to see that we'll get the choice though.

Now would be a perfect time since me spen has been sent off for warranty evaluation..
my spen slot is messed up so something different would be nice
Sure hope one of our devs chime in and let us know they are working on porting this for us!:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup::beer::beer::beer::beer:
From what I understand as soon as it works on the s6 it should really simple to port over. Because essentially the note 5 is a oversized s6 with a pen

Yes and no. It's working on the S6 but we can't use it on the Note 5. Not yet anyways. Still need a kernel for the Note 5 unfortunately.
I mean we are close none the less which makes me happy as there isn't much in the way of roms for my note
This does tell me it may at least boot up before Christmas I mean we still have 15 days till the year is over so it can still happen

IMO, if you're going to use CM, why did you buy a note? CM typically doesn't support the pen features at all. (please correct me if I am wrong)
General
Hi to all, I have been using XDA for around a uear now, but I hadn't registered until recently. I wanted to give back to the community in some way but developing ROMs isn't one (I'm more of a web developer). So due to a lack of recent videos of Note 3 ROMs which I have seen on YouTube. I thought that it'd be a good idea to review ROMs based on performance, battery life etc... As I regularly change ROMs looking for key features such as good battery life and good performance all around. (I have been through many ROMs, soft bricks and bootloops).
IMPORTANT
I'd be greatful if you guys requested a ROM for me to review. I dont mind testing kernels with a ROM too
DO NOT GIVE A DIRECT DOWNLOAD LINK! ALWAYS GIVE THE ROM POST LINK (So I can view it and give the necessary credits)
ROMS WILL BE PICKED FROM THIS POST AT RANDOM
The Review Process
I install the ROM:
Over 3-7 days I test the ROM for performance, battery life, overnight battery life, compatibility, looks and maybe some other stuff depending on what you guys ask me.
Other information
When will I start?
The reviewing will begin hopefully on the 14th August because I'm on holiday.
I also dont mind reviewing applications and other stuff for the note 3 and at least for now my videos will have NO ADS, also if enough people are interested I will make a website for it with the written reviews
Thank you for reading this
Hopefully if this works the first review will be of an unofficial CM13 build by someone.
Please do a review on AryaMod Port S7Edge . I have already tried the ROM, it seems really good. Can you also please do a tutorial on how to install the ROM at the beginning of the video, so that if anyone have doubts regarding installation, your video will be helpful.
Thanks

Sure when I get back I will review it and post an install tutorial on it, I'd do one on holiday but I have tried AryaMod a while ago and its a battery killer lol and whilst I'm on holiday battery life is crucial.
Yeah so hopefully I can start the review process on maybe the 13th but it should he finished and uploaded by the 17/18th
Yesterday I used both the brand new Samsung Galaxy Note 7 with the iris scanner and the Samsung Galaxy S7.
The only ROM that is like the S7 is Fagner Wolfs Darkwolf S7 ROM.
So far I haven't seen any ROMs with the Note 7 UI with its all new settings and notifications which are more like android stock now but somewhat cleaner and copy the default Samsung white background.
If I had my phone with me I would have recorded it and posted it on YouTube. Sadly I didn't
I might review some stuff early
Any updates on the review ?
Nice stuff
I always wanted a ROM with the latest software from the most recent Note (in this case the Note 7) but with everything compatible and what isn't possible (like camera software due to hardware limitations) reverted to the Note 3 version. Like an actual update from the brand or something among those lines. But there's so much roms out there (and fortunately!) and so much confusion in threads (less fortunately but I can't really complain as everything here is made for developers and not for general public) and not so much time on my end that I can't test everything out and find what I like.
Anyways, I'm just here to show my support on your idea, good luck with that
