My nexus 5 screen cracked, I have sold my motherboard to someone as I will be getting a new phone. But the problem is that my files are still on the motherboard. I have teamwin recovery installed but it uses touch so I can't acces anything. How can I factory reset my phone and maybe lock the bootloader again too? thanks.

Thanks, but the problem is that my pc got reinstalled so it's not listed as adb device. I have usb debugging enabled but I have to check the box to pair with my pc.
Can you see the screen when turned on? If so, boot the phone into fastboot, flash stock recovery and then use that to factory reset the phone as it uses the buttons
Do you have USB drivers ? Use toolkit to check connectivity USB or you can try do everything on bootloader

So I was just trying to unlock my boot loader of my nexus 5 using to wubfresh toolkit. But I am having a problem, I am not getting the option on my phone to always remember my computer. And this is causing the program to not work. I have tried to reinstall the drivers and it still will not work. Does anyone have a solution.

Change USB connection settings on phone from mtp :to camera ptp then it should show up

Don't use a toolkit. Unlocking the boot loader is very simple... There are guides all over the forum.

Has anyone ever had an issue where the phone would charge when connected to a PC or MAC, but will not connect to do any file transferring or to use fastboot or adb?
My drivers are all up to date and my Nexus 7 connects perfectly fine. My nexus 5 used to connect and something happened where my phone got stuck in a boot loop so I flashed the factory image and since than it won't connect.
USB debugging is checked. Everything is the way is supposed to. Like I said my nexus 7 connects just fine. MTP is checked, I have tried with both options.

Also when I boot into fastboot and I run fastboot devices it give me this error
"Could not get pipe properties"

For mac, you just need to install android file transfer. To use the fastboot and adb commands you need to download the sdk. When you flashed the factory image, did you format the cache?

I have all of that installed and my phone used to connect. My nexus 7 connects with no issues. Yes I did wipe cache after I flashed the stock images.

on windows OS, and when boot phone in TWRP, does your nexus show up on device manager? as "unknown device" or "AOSP hammerhead"?
When I connect to the PC it doesn't show up under device manager. When I boot into the bootloader or stock recovery it doesn't show up either. But it charges

smells like data pin/coil in the micro usb/charging port failing
When you connect your phone, does a notification about USB debugging appear or not? If not, then RMA time. If it does, I have no clue
So i wiped my internal sd card when i was trying to get rid of multirom and switch to the rom i wanted. we the phone is wiped i still have my TWRP recovery but i cannot get the phone to connect to my mac at all and i tryed using my buddies win7 which we rooted and unlocked his nexus 4 on with adb. im lost on how to get a new rom on there to install any help would be terrific.
You're going to have to get one of the pc's to recognize your device to adb sideload or push a Rom on to your phone Google tool adb fastboot drivers xda. Try that on the win machine.
Also, make sure your using usb 2.0 ports, not 3.0 and user the cable that came with the phone

Alright I got it, thank you for the help. I ended up installing a dual boot on my hackintosh with win7 and went through all that, but if I had already had that it would have taken lest time. Once I had all the working drivers and downloads it only took about 15-30 min max before I had my device back and running DU by itself without multirom. Thanks again for the help!!!!

i was playing coc when suddenly ma nexus 5 stopped working. the screen freezed , so i held the power button for some seconds to restart ma phonebut i think it got into a bootloop the google logo appeared and then the 4 dots came and it stuck there...i am running lollipop 5.0.1 and its rooted device .i just want to know how could i backup ma photos and songs??????plz helpp

Is your bootloader unlocked? Do you have a custom recovery? If you can boot into twrp it's fairly straight forward to access your files.

ma bootloader is unlocked but i dont know about the custom recovery actually.......idk how to boot into twrp

The first thing you need to do is install fastboot and adb on your pc. Google 15 second adb install xda.
Then download the twrp image from here http://techerrata.com/browse/twrp2/hammerhead. Rename it twrp for simplicity.
When you get that done go into the folder where twrp is and in an open area in that folder shift, right click. A drop down box should open and you can open a command window here.
Boot your derive into the bootloader, connect it to your pc and in that command window type
fastboot boot twrp.img
That'll boot you into twrp.
Once in twrp go to into mount and make sure mtp is enabled. Then it should be as easy a copy and paste from your device to your pc.

You'll be able to copy and paste files from your device to anywhere you want on the pc. Once you're booted into twrp open windows explorer and you should see the nexus 5 device there.

It's not making a backup per say, You're just copying the files to your pc. You'll have to copy them back to your device once you get it sorted out
Ps, this will only get your pics and music. It won't backup your apps.

when i open windows esplorer...i cant find nexus 5 device there....mtp is enabled though

You might have a driver issue. Go to device manager in the control panel. Do you see your drive there?

Try unplugging the device and plugging it back in while you're booted into twrp.

Oh, one other thing, in twrp the mtp should show enable mtp. Don't press the button when it shows that. It's misleading the way it works.

i tried every way ......both as mtp enabled and disabled but still its not showing anything in the explorer

Try different usb cables and ports. It should be working but I've seen where the cable is the issue

When last time I checked the mtp feature in twrp it was bugging. The only way I could make it work was to enable mtp and restart the phone to recovery WHILE it was connected to the pc.

The Problem with my Nexus 5 is that when ever i boot my Nexus 5 up it stays stuck in the Google Logo With the Unlocked Icon on the bottom. Also, whenever i go into bootloader and i go to my Recovery Mode (Using CWR) I cleared my Cache and Dalvik Cache, Reboot and it doesn't Fix it. Since I Have Android SDK and Android Debug Bridge (ADB) on my PC i tried to reinstall Android Lollipop on my Nexus 5 And for some odd reason in the bootloader screen I plugged in my Nexus 5 to my PC, but my PC does not want to Recognize my Nexus 5, and when i run the Flash-all.bat it say's, "< waiting for device >", when i do have my Nexus 5 Plugged in.
If there's anyway you can help my solve this please tell me!

i suggest that you download and install the nexus root toolkit v.205 from wugfresh and restore your device

All the drivers installed? Try a different usb port and a different cable, some cables are charge only.

if you can are still able to get into fastboot/download mode on your nexus 5, then please download and install the nexus root toolkit by wugfresh available on xda at this link

DUDE, I held my power button for about 15 long-seconds and the device turned on like it wasn't Hard-Bricked O.O? After i had confirmed that my Nexus 5 had no signs of life by going to sprint and showing them my device, i held it's Power button for a Long time as a last resort and it just came back to life?!??! Can ANYONE Explain this, or is my phone a God? Also, my volume down rocker broke after i was pressing it really hard at an attempt to go to Recovery Mode, Then it started working when i showed it to my Bro'. Is my Phone normal?
