Thought some of the devs might find this interesting. Sounds like a great function.

I found that review a bit odd as other reviews say it has good battery life. What is the general consensus on it in this area, is the battery life good or bad?
Mine is not good. But I use it a lot. ! Like lasting for 8-9 hrs. But it did last for around a day when I didn't use it much

yeah dont get the battery thingy also.. engadget said its great and they say it awefull.. odd
How come they didn't include the different aspects of the Sensation's camera in the review? Weird..
The Arc & GS 2 could do almost a day on average use for me so I would like to see the same in the Sensation.
7.5 hrs and the battery is dead. :/

Not very heavy use for the first 3 hours. Screen was off with WiFi on. Then I used it quite heavily like for browsing and songs. But still it should have lasted for long. I had brightness on 100% aswell.Nexus one had battery life because I used it a lot aswell but it used to last around 18 hrs. I'll try turning off WiFi and other stuff when i don't need them and check how it goes. And with brightness on auto.

It's not another HTC where how good people's battery life varies from handset to handset irrespective almost of how much it is used? That some examples just for better than others?

not a very thorough review, and yes the battery stuff is nowhere near what other sites say...yikes!

Best ROM for battery!

I cannot find a ROM that has great battery life! I'm currently running the latest touchcream ROM. I'm not too big on features but they're nice. I'm just looking for a ROM with the best battery life! No preference on sense or AOSP. Please help! Thank you!

+1
Anker battery boosted my battery life by about 20-25%, and I also agree that VI gives awesome battery life
Just carry a lead with you, i have one about 10cm in length and it goes in my pocket wherever i go. There's a high chance (probably 80%) that i will be near a USB plug! all 3 jobs have computers nearby, my car has USB and every house i visit has a USB port somewhere. At least that way you can play 3d games for more than 3/4 of an hour.
Think about it? Is there a lot of places you visit that don't have USB?
I'm happy if my battery lasts from 9 to 5 without a charge!

ROM for elders

Im planning to maybe pass on my sensation to my 67-year-old father. It would be his first smartphone as well as first touchscreen one.
The issue is, that my father is not an expert in electronics by far (barely knows how to read and write text messages). His old phones have been plain nokias (yeah the legendary ones) and such. Also his fingers are very thick (about the size of a billiard stick).
Alas what do you think would be the best ROM to suit him?
What im looking for is a simple interface, easy to use, and something that has good batterylife (he often forgets to charge his phone)
Trying out different ROMs isnt that simple to him because if he learns to use one function of a ROM then it will be difficult to adjust to a different ROM that functions differently.
So what do you suggest?

How about virtuous inquisition,? It is senseless, stable, excellent battery life, no frills, Rom. I personally think that would be a excellent choice for seniors. He won't have any problems with it. Hope this helps. I know if I gave my mom a Rom , I likely would choose this for her. This way he won't be burdened with problems or battery drain .I think this is the best choice. Best wishes .

That might be a good solution
Im currently running Bruces CM10 kang and I think its a little bit too complex

VI is my favorite stable ROM but I'd have to say that MIUI is the best ROM for an elderly person. The large icons, the simplicity, really everything is much easier on it except for the browser (download dolphin instead).
Good luck
Thanks for the good answers
Do you guys think ics would easier than gb?

I think it is opposite. Gb is easier than Ics..also as CM7...If you install CM7 you can install launcherpro or other launcher, and resize big icons on your preferances. i think that ics has much "rigid" interface than cm7.
ics has incorporated those bloatware "beasts" like tweeter, facebook chat,gtalk...etc. etc...so you should think to remove them from rom before installation.just to avoid sporadic popups and notifications that could confuse him...CM7 does not have it. (and it is noot needed to have).
I recommend Hypersensation CM7 .
I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that a stock looking Sense Rom like ARHD would be suitable for elders. Sense widgets are pretty user friendly, setup a coupe of home screens (not the default 7). I think that would work. That's whhat I would do if I had to give an android phone to my parents.
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using Tapatalk 2
If you are going the MIUI route, gb/ics/jb are practically all similar. From my experience ICS had over 20hour battery where GB had like 12hour so you might want to look into that as well.
I'd go back to stock or install hypermiui (by far the most battery efficient)

I ended up installing miui and he surprisingly manages with it quite well!
Battery lasts for at least two and a half days, and theres not much that he could do to screw up the phone.

[Q] Battery life

Hi guys, my question is this: What is the most experienced ROM Battery saved? I understand that every phone is a different world, but in general concpetor ROM which is noted for being durable battery. I have the battery in stock and now I'm in JB MIUI v4. Thank you all in advance.

Every 2 days, any guy asks for this...
Open your eyes and search. In at least 2 Minutes you will find 5 posts like this!

You should try out several different roms and see which works best for you. If your looking for jelly bean I personally run Paranoid Android by Dragun korr. With his new kernel 3.0.52 many people are reporting excellent battery life. Myself included. There Rom is very stable and has a lot of customisation available. Every one is different with there likes and dislikes but I'd give this a try and see what you think about it. If you search you will find most people will advise you try several out for yourself to see which is best for you. I Hope this is helpful and wish you the best. I don't think paranoid Android will disappoint. But give it a try for yourself and see if it suits your needs. I've been very happy with it.

How many hours is your battery life on this rom?
Sent from my HTC Sensation XE with Beats Audio Z715e using xda app-developers app
Check all ROM threads. Half of users cry for bad battery life and other half are happy with excellent battery life .
In short, the results are vary widely across users of same ROM. Try all ROM urself whichever you like and check results. It won't take much time to flash ROM and net it run for few hours.
I know that just answer the question for us to be noticed

Better than being on HSDPA all the time, but sync is by far the worst drainer.
Mine is AMAZING but I'm on 'JellyBam' not just JB so don't know if that is the difference cuz my battery lasts from 7am to 10pmish from texting/calling/internet browsing/downloading games & apps/ plus using Skype during the day as well, maybe try a ROM if your on stock ROM with JB update?
Mines been absolutely amazing. Get 24 hours no problem with heavy use. Today I had over 2 hours of talk time, games, and Internet. Wish I could check on screen time though

Today was the best battery life I've had on jelly. Maybe it just takes sometime for the battery to settle

Been using jellybean for about a month now. absolutely terrible battery life. i used to get 24 hours on ICS with HSDPA all the time, and i barely manage 12 hours on JB.
Wish there was something that could fix.
I might just have to downgrade back to ICS.

I just put Virtuous Ville 4.1.1 on my phone. Hoping battery life isn't a drastic change. Will give it a few days before commenting.

Just wanted to add.. The jelly bean sense based ROMs just came out.. Remember ICS has been out for a while... When ICS first came out it didn't have the greatest battery either..give it time allow people to figure out what works and what doesn't..it has already changed a lot sense the first virtuous release... We'll get it rite just be patient..

Just to clarify also when I posted this it wasn't directed at devs here. More towards HTC and jellybean. And if I'm lucky batt life is okay for the most part sadly sucks. Guess can't expect much out the small battery this phone has.
