Retrieve Contacts and Gmail Account - Broken Screen - General Questions and Answers

Hi, my partners dad has a galaxy s3 where the screen remains black even though the phone is still receiving messages and calls, his work have now provided him with a new S5 and he wants to retrieve his contacts. The only thing is, he doesnt know what the gmail account is that he used, when setting up the phone he created one because he had to but has never used it since so we have no idea.
Is there any way at all of retrieving the contacts or finding out what gmail address is registered on the phone? Its a work phone so wont be rooted or have debugging and another obstacle is that he may have had a passcode lock on the phone.
Are there any software downloads out there or will KIES help at all? Im wondering if he may have a software update due and can run that through KIES which may hopefully fix the black screen somehow but thinking the passcode lock may stop us.
Really not sure what we can do, he has some contacts on there that he doesnt know and will not be able to get again.

[Q] Calendar issue

Wasn't sure where to post but give it a shot here . Wife came from blackberry to droid and has had problems ever since. Alot of mis information from verizon. She had some contacts on backup assistant and some on gmail but cant get it to work with out doubles. One rep said you could use both one said no. Also some contacts came from gmail but the phone numbers show up in the notes section and some dont. Crazy. How can we get it finally setup. Import from both, export ,delete , then re import? Next her calendar wont show prior than 3 months. She uses it for work and needs to look at past jobs. It shows on gmail website but wont on her phone. Gps obviously cant do anything about that unless root. Wont let me do because its a work phone and wont in case something happens. Just frustrated and fed up and I get the most ****.

Strange Email sync issue with multiple accouts using Samsung Omnia Win7 phone - HELP

Hi,
this is a strange question and a bizzare event thats occuring but i am hoping someone will be able to clear this up for me.
Basically i have had troubles with battery life on my windows 7 phone, its a samsung omnia on the orange network in the uk. This has ONLY been an issue since i upgraded to the Mango update last wednesday.
What i am finding is that my emails are syncing every 30mins or so despite being set to manual update only. I added 3 email accounts to my phone each via the windows live account addition option, i set them to each manually update only and only sync email not contacts/meetings etc... the mad thing is the main acount that is used under my people contact and the main hotmail/live account that is in use with the phone itself seems to stick at only updating when i tell it to sync (i have to click the refresh style sync button within the email screen) however the other two accounts after about 12hours start to go haywire and whilst they start out by syncing manual as soon as i have synced them manually once, after this they just update whenever they want too (every 30mins it appears)... i have tried a reset of the phone and starting from scratch but again eventually this flaw just keeps occuring! over and over, no matter how many resets i do
Its a real pain to be honest, when i first updated to mango i did link all the accounts together as there is an option to band all your accounts into the single hotmail livetile on the homescreen, i changed this option and decided against it, trouble is i cant remember if this issue happened then, im still pretty sure it did, its almost like the other two accounts have a mind of their own, is there any explanation as to what this could possible be?
I have tried to a rollback of my current firmware but it ended up bricking my phone so now it has gone in for a repair under warrenty to samsung, maybe it could have been a dodgy install of mango from day one? as my friend updated and he has the same phone yet hasnt experienced this email flaw, but then again he only has two accounts on his phone
Could it be the manual option no longer works in mango update?
many thanks for reading and hope someone can help, many thanks

[Q] Work says no more email on rooted devices

My company sent out an email saying phones with root access will no longer be able to use MobileIron or Exchange to get email access on rooted devices. We will have to login using Outlook Web Access (OWA). Since the change and getting kicked off, I have found it very frustrating not getting emails while away from my computer and being out of the loop when I run into someone in the hall who starts up a conversation about the latest announcement that I haven't had a chance to read. Or running into someone, setting up a quick meeting, and then having to recreate the calendar appointment on my computer when I just did it on my phone as well. Or, lastly, creating an appointment on my computer and then later realizing I don't have the details on my phone because they no longer sync. Point is, "do without" is not an option here.
Does anyone know of a workaround for this apart from asking the boss for a company phone and carrying two phones around? Is there a way to make a certain app think I don't have root?
If there's really no way around getting it to just plain work, I'd even be OK if there was some relatively automated way to sync the data (calendar appointments and emails) between my computer and phone once a day on a schedule. Any ideas on solutions here?

Read articles about app called EXPOSED. It has one of its modules that makes a company cannot detect wether you are rooted. You can install EXPOSED and find the module you want to include. For further knowledge about it, search righ here.

Mail count incorrect

Title pretty much says it all!
On my phone (Note 4) the unread mail count is currently one. On the S2, it is twenty-eight. Scrolling through the mail on the S2, I can see emails that I deleted days ago. Am I perhaps missing something from the settings?
(The emails relate to gmail and Google Apps mail)
Many thanks
KJ
I have the same exact issue. I emailed Samsung and they told me to do a factory reset to correct the issue as they have not heard of this bug from the latest update. A factory reset did NOT correct the issue. I believe the latest update caused the issue but convincing Samsung is another story. I was going to call them on Friday to see what the story is but does anyone else know what is going on here?
So I contacted Samsung technical support and they asked me to resync my bluetooth connection with my phone. Basically you just disconnect the gear s2 from the phone and hit connect again in the gear manager. It seemed to have worked for the first email deleted but not for any subsequent emails. I just tried it again and it is actually not working at all.
Because this is not a "software issue" they claim, the watch would need to be sent for repairs. I don't know what else to do but I'm not sending off the watch for repairs. If you are experiencing this issue, please call Samsung because they do not believe this is an issue and let us know here. If you AREN'T experiencing this please let us know as well...
The issue is that when you delete an email from your watch, it will delete from the phone CORRECTLY. However, if you delete an email from your PHONE it will not automatically delete it from the watch... causing you to have to manage the deletions on your watch manually. This was working prior to a software update recently.

I am not having the same issue, if I delete my email from the phone it does delete it on the watch. It will not delete it from the watch when I am connected remotely though, but it does remove it once I get back on bluetooth. This is exchange email through the normal android email system. Have you also tried deleting the email on either outlook or the web client and see if it updates the phone and watch that way?
One thing I do notice though that does throw my mail number off at times. If I do not receive the notification on my phone then I do not get that email on my watch. So far no matter what it doesn't seem to sync back to it. The only instance I have ran into with this is if I have my email application open and a new email comes in. Because the email app is open it never does a notification to my phone so the watch never gets it.

Thanks for the post. I reinstalled Gear Manager and it MAY have fixed the issue. I'm still going through some tests. The only way to get the emails to your watch all the time is to turn off the Limit notifications in Gear Manager > Notifications on your phone. I turned it off for the very reason of getting all the future email to go to the watch.

That's good that you may have got it resolved.
So for mine, I have already turned off the limit notifications option a few days ago. That works good so if I am using my phone the notification will still come to the watch, before I had turned it off if I was using my phone the notification would not come to the watch until my screen on the phone went black.
The problem is that if I actually have my email app opened up on the phone, and an email comes in. The phone doesn't give a notification because I had the app open already and see the email. At this point the watch never gets a notification for that email because the phone never did. So that email never makes it to the email app on the watch. Its almost like the watch didn't see a notification so the email doesn't exist for it.
This is not the same result for text messages, text messages still seem to sync correctly even if I did not actually get that notification on the phone.

Ahhh ok I got ya. If the app is open, no notification, therefore no email on watch. Nice. I wondered why Samsung decided to handle emails like this to begin with. It would have been easier to just read from the phone or something instead of this convoluted sending notifications of future emails. That way I could access all the emails at once as well.
Yeah I agree, not sure what the thoughts were with it either. Owell, hopefully they will have some tweaks to it. The good thing is that it really isn't a big concern. If I already saw the email on my phone before the notification came in then I'm not that concerned about seeing it on my watch. The situation just won't come up very often as I don't just stare at my email app waiting for emails to come in haha. Just more of thought it was an interesting way they did things. Would be nice to know how that back end for that is working.
Either way, maybe it is because it is my first smart watch, but so far I'm still loving it even with some bugs and a lack of apps.
I just got a s2 classic, I am experiencing the same issue, I delete the messages from my phone, and they still show on the watch, I have tried removing gear from my phone and reinstalling, but it did not work, I still have the same issue.
any other people have this issue and have any other advice on fixing it.
thanks

Google won't accept my email adress in the frp screen

Hi guys,
Don't ask why, at the time being I tought it was a good idea to disable oem in the developer settings while having a custom rom. That having said, I needed to do a complete reset with odin and flash the stock firmware. Because I still had my google account tied to my phone, they now want that I sign in with that account. After many failed attemps I changed the passwort an finally logged in. But then it said that I should use an account which was previously used with the phone. And I am 100% sure that that is the right one, but google tells me otherwise. I read something about a 24h lock if the password is changed. Is it as simple as waiting a day?
I know it is this email, because when I logged into google in the web, it showed me that the device was recently factory reset. It also showed me my phone nummber and I could see apps which I installed on this phone. I only have on, so that must me it?
I'm really lost here. I already searched for ways to contact google, but I came up with nothing email-related to my problem and I really don't wan't to call them. IIs there a working way to bypass it? I know there were some with earlier security patches.
Also, does anybody know, where I could post this in the google forums? I looked at all of them, but none would fit into my problem. The closest I got wouuld have been google play store
Don't know if it's usefull:
Samsung Galaxy S7 (SM-G930F) running 6.0.1 with firmware downloaded yesterday straight from Samsung
Try that:
Thanks for the help, but the problem resolved itself. After waiting for a day I was able to log in using the account I mentioned. Don't know if it was part of the protection to display that the account was not usable or not, but it hat me severely confused.
