Google Play Services battery drain fix - New version 8.x - Android General

Hi dudes!
There exists a new version from the Google Play Services. The battery drain (wakelocks) are gone. The older versions from play services (v7.x) takes 7-15% battery on my S5 and now with the new version: Max 1%, something nothing!
Here you can download it: http://www.apkmirror.com/apk/google-inc/google-play-services/
Before you install the new version, uninstall your old Play Services with root completely from your device. After the reinstall you can normally update every time.
Scroll down for all versions, because every smartphone needs another version (arm, arm64, dpi etc.)
To figure out the right version of Google Play services for your Android device, go to Settings -> Apps -> Google Play services, and look at the last 3 numbers in the parentheses. You'll see something like -XYZ where:
* X defines Android version:
0 for Android = 6.0 after
7 for Android 5.0
8 for Android TV
* Y defines CPU architecture:
1 for armeabi
3 for armeabi-v7a
4 for arm64-v8a
7 for x86
* Z defines DPI:
0 for universal
2 for 160
4 for 240
6 for 320
8 for 480
Important Notes:
It seems that -4YZ builds got split into -2YZ for Lollipop and -4YZ for Marshmallow with Google Play services v8. If you were on -4YZ before, you should now install -2YZ in Lollipop and -4YZ in Marshmallow.
Looks like -8YZ builds are for Android TV.
Examples for Play Services 8.x:
-014 for Android

What if I flash open_gapps-arm-5.1-stock-20150910.zip and after flashing the zip, I installs above apk ? Will it work ?
Thanks.

Thanks.

After flashing the newest gapps, check the Play Services version in your app settings. It can be already installed after flashing the newest gapps, I don't know.

Ok. Thanks for reply. I am just going to flash the above gapps and if it is not what you have posted, then should I install above apk please ? Suppose it is different one, then can I install above please ?

Yes that's correct

I noticed that my phone had automatically updated Google Play Services to 8.1.14. Somehow. I turned off all the automatic updates I could find, but I did do a manual update on all my Google Play apps a couple days ago. It must have happened then.
I had a bigggggg problem with the wakelock bug keeping my phone from sleeping and draining the battery very quickly. When my phone goes to sleep properly, I get very good standby time. With the bug it drains almost completely overnight.
So far it's been okay, but every previous time I thought the problem was fixed, it came back after a couple days.
I will post again in a couple days with my findings.
Thank you for posting this update.

Please have a look at APKMirror. There is a new version 8.1.15 available.

I don't know how it's doing it, but my phone is updating itself. It's now at 8.1.15 (2250156-034). Besides, I don't see my version 034 on that site. I could have sworn I turned off all automatic updates everywhere on my phone. Does anyone know how this is happening?
Anyhoo, BTW, I'm running Kit Kat 4.4.2 on an HTC Desire 601, with HTC Sense 5.5. My Google Play Store says 5.8.8.
It's now gone about two days without the wakelock bug happening. I have not yet tried turning location services back on. I think I will wait a few more days until I answer your poll. It looks like someone else is still having an issue, unfortunately.

Please try this: Uninstall Play Services with root and than reinstall it.

Going to install 238 and will try and post my results when i have a proper sample size (or issues).
I am currently on Galaxy S5 w KLTEUSC Fusion Rom 6, Android 5.1.1, GPlay Services 7.xxx.438
Hope i understood the notes properly - as I read them, i should install 238 because the 438 is now exclusive to Android 6 (Marshmellow), yes?
Thank you OP!

Yes that's correct. But please Uninstall the old Play Services with root and than install the new version. That's Better and more helpful.

I have an old Galaxy Player (yp-g1) on I put few days ago cm11, and the battery was extremmely drained by GP services... I try this, I hope solves the problem, thanks!!

Thanks, hope this finally fixes the wakelock issues. Its been plaguing users for faaaaaaaar too long! I just installed over the existing play services, but rebooted and wiped dalvik/cache and also cleared data from play services. Will monitor over the next few days.

Here is what I have discovered will help with Battery drains when it comes to Google Services and I will share this with you
You need to get disableService, make a backup, and then disable a lot of unnecessary services.
In my case I disable
fit*
wearable*
cast*
chrome*
kids*
games*
The below 2 services will Drain your battery badly, but if you need them, do not disable them.
GoogleLocationManager
GoogleLocationSevice
FusedLocation
Geo*
I Leave NetworkLocation service on.
Please bear in mind that I do not use Google Maps, I use GPS based maps only.
If you use Google Maps, you can use process of elimination with those services but in my experience, leaving NetworkLocationService on was all I needed. GPS based maps are better because you do not need data, however oyu do need a large sized SDcard to store maps you have downloaded.
I also disable:
Analytics*
Ad*
* = Means anything related to the words preceding the *star - You can search in DisableService and it will show you all the services related to the key word.
In your ROM, Privacy Settings > Privacy Guard > Advanced > Location > Disable wakeup and keepawake for Google Play Services.
Google has simply increased it's bloat and will still be using GPS/Wifi/NFC/Data and Anything else it can use to connect whether you are in or out of range of any data services and will continue to cause Wakelocks.
The only way to keep Google from draining your battery is to manually manage everything on Custom Roms. If you are Stock and not rooted, best hope that your Manufacturer has taken the necessary steps to prevent battery drains. Most manufacturers do include some sort of settings to keep Google Services from causing problems.
TIP: If you want to move Google Services back into /System/Priv-App : You must go into /Data/App and into the gms directory, and copy the Libs first. Give the Libs the same permissions as they are in /System/Priv-App (644) rwrr
And then Rename Base.apk to PrebuiltGmsCore.apk or GmsCore.apk (whichever) and copy it to /System/Priv-App/GmsCore (or folder where your Google Services is) - Overwrite, and give the same permissions 644 rwrr - Now you can delete it from /Data/App and reboot the device. This will free up space on your data partition. Wipe your Dalvik cache to be sure.
Remember : Only disable services you do not need. If anyone has any questions, feel free to ask, I am here to help.

Pretty nooby question that i've been meaning to ask for quite a while now; in privacy gaurd, is "ignored" the equivalent of "disable" / "disallow"? Process of elimination tells me yes lol, just sort of confusing wording..

Okay guys. Another day without Google Play Services wakelocks. I'm beginning to think the problem has finally been fixed. I'm getting great standby time again, and this is awesome when everything works like it's supposed to.
However, it needs to be said that this whole sad affair has me thinking about iOS for my next phone. Battery life should be something sacred, and a bug that keeps your phone awake when there's no goddamn reason for it to be awake is like the worst possible thing.
What if you were counting on your phone to be there in an emergency and then when you went to use it you found that a wakelock had drained the whole thing?
And how on earth did it take so long to fix? And how can I be sure now that it will never happen again? I will never have confidence in my phone again. The only way to be sure you'll have battery when you need it is to turn it off.
(I also am not pleased with the whole Android OS update mess with the manufacturers and carriers. My phone is just a little over a year old and it's not even getting a single +1.0 OS update. That's pretty lame.)
Anyhoo, thus endeth my rant. Other than this one glaring issue, my budget phone is pretty awesome considering.
P.S. I haven't yet tried re-enabling location services yet. I will try that tomorrow and then maybe vote on the poll after that.
P.S.S. I am sad to see that a few people are still voting that their wakelock problem has not been fixed with the latest update of Google Play Services. I wonder what is causing the problem to persist for you guys.

Well I don't want to root my phone and start messing around with **** if the problem is gone? I'm good with computers but not with smart phones.
What would uninstalling and reinstalling accomplish exactly?
Besides my version "034" isn't listed on that APK site.

Another day without Google Play Services wakelocks.
I tried turning location services back on today too.
I feel like I have my phone back again.
I still have to try turning auto-sync back on. (What does that do again, exactly?)
I also have all automatic software updates turned off everywhere I could find them. I think I may keep those turned off just because they are so effing annoying.

Okay, so I finally voted in the poll after a week without wakelocks from Google Play Services. The issue seems to be resolved for me, knock on wood. Thank you to Solvin for the original post.
Unfortunately from the poll results it looks like half of us are still having problems. I wonder what the problem is for those still experiencing wakelocks.

Spoke too soon. Wakelocks are back. F-ck you Google. I regret not getting an iPhone.

Disable Google Play Services and Google Services Framework for better battery/privacy

I disabled Google Play Services and Google Services Framework on my Moto G, because I don't need them and the Play Store (I sideload all my apps from the pc).
But there's a big problem: if I disable even one of them, and try to enable the geolocation, it only uses the option "high precision" and, worse then that, it makes all the android framework crash and reboot if I try to open any geolocation-using app (like Google Maps or the camera with geo-ON). Any hint to solve this issue? I really want to get rid of these services, for battery and privacy reasons (in particular, battery improvements are really noticeable!).
UPDATE: I don't get this bug UNLESS I reboot the phone. If I do, I get this issue. If I don't, Maps still works even with these services disabled. I'd like anyway to solve this problem so I don't have to make laborious procedures everytime the phone reboot (I already have to kill 5 motorola processes, i.e. Motocare and Motorola Services ones).
I've attached a pair of screens to clarify my situation. I'm on the STOCK and NO-ROOTED rom.
Thank you very much in advance

No, I'm on the stock android and not need them. But if I disable them, and I reboot the phone, all the geolocating app I use make the system crash, that's a weird behaviour. To convince yourself, you can disable both the services, restart the phone, open Google Maps and press the location button.
If I don't reboot the phone, instead, Google Maps continues to work even with this two services disabled... that's what confuses me
I basically meant stock and stripped like CM11 without Gapps

Thank you for the intereeting link. Unluckily it regards mainly rooted devices... Pretty interesting though
Let me see if I get this right. You purchased a phone manufactured by Google, using a stock Rom compiled by Google, and you are trying to used Google software (Google Maps or Motorola Camera software- by Google) and you find it surprising that the system crashes after disabling Google's framework? And you are hoping to solve this without rooting or flashing a custom Rom? Seriously?
Sorry for the ironic tone, but you really need to give the idea of making a thread for this a second thought, my friend.
No problem for the ironic tone, but I can ensure you that I'm running Google Maps and (Motorola, not Google!) Camera App geotag WITHOUT having these two services enabled, and they work flawlessy the problem is ONLY when I REBOOT the phone, in which case I must enable and disable again these services in order to make apps with geolocation work without crashing the system. I will attach a screenshot of my running processes in the STOCK and NOROOT rom, and I ensure you that apart this small, boot-time issue, everything works great on my phone (with a great battery boost, I've been able to achieve 9 hours of screen time plus 1hr of calls, what do you think?).
I've about 50 apps installed, I just don't like Motorola and Google ones because they keep running about all the time, sucking out a lot of private data and battery juice
Well I am new to Android and also have/had problems using the moto g. I disabled all Google apps and stuff I could find and the OS is not really stable, I get quite a few hiccups and the phone crashes every now and then. I thought the nova launcher might be the problem, but I also suspect the OS in general.
But unlike you I don't use any Google stuff, so not even maps.
Well, I am selling the phone anyway.
No crashes here apart this Maps tweak, so it sound's really weird... maybed you disabled some critical services. On my device, with kitkat 4.4.2, ART compiler, everything is more than stable. You could try a factory reset or switching from Dalvik to ART too...
Sounds like a gigantic hassle. I don't think these services use much battery at all.

Before saying that, try and let me know
(as soon I will use it in a regoular way - I.e. not gaming and not browsing all the time - I'll post a screenshot proving the 9 hours of screen time, that I wasn't able to reach with Google services enabled)
Ive had 9 hours screen time with google services enabled but that was just doing light stuff ,got 2.5 days out of my last battery charge but that was with only 5 hours screen time but mine is rooted and greenified now.
Cant think of a solution to your problem sorry, guess you will just have to avoid rebooting.
yes, I guess so...
I need to reinstall Google play services on my moto g how do I do this?
This thread is over a year old and totally unrelated to your question. Searching the forums is my advice because you are pretty unlikely to find an answer to your question by posting in this particular thread

504 Errors

Lately, 504 errors in the Google Play Store have eliminated my ability to recommend this phone. None of the usual fixes work.
Apps that I've had the problem with are:
Evernote
Runtastic Me (after a recent update)
Waze (version 4)
Maybe it is something the app developers are doing that doesn't work with the hardware, but I'm afraid of what the next app may be that I'm stuck unable to update.
Update: this has been resolved by the latest update from Gionee/BLU
Is it Google Play Store causing the problems (installing/updating apps) or is it the apps you mentioned (crashing, etc.)?
Have you started getting them all of a sudden out of nowhere? I've started to have Google Play Services issues with Google Play Music, but that was after fixing permissions in TWRP.
Maybe something you've done recently caused it (installation, file corruption, root/xposed modding) if TWRP is not the cause.
I'll assume you've already tried to clear app data & caches, and maybe uninstalling/reinstalling them. If nothing else works, you can always resort to a factory reset of the phone if you are willing to give up everything.
I've done everything short of a factory reset. I read where another user had the issue with evernote, so I specifically tried installing evernote to test.
I haven't rooted or used a custom recovery with this phone.
I put this in general more for information purposes and to maybe compile a list of apps others run into this with, but if anyone's fixed it, I'd appreciate knowing what they had to do.
Will try APK or Amazon for offending apps soon.
No luck with Amazon, either, so it isn't a play store issue
Got the same 504 error when installing Waze 4.0.

Even manually installing the Waze 4.0 apk gives a generic "App not installed" error. Perhaps there's an incompatibility with this phone.
Sent from my PURE XL using Tapatalk
I think I've had the same problem before when installing a different (free) app. What I did was Google for an older version of the .apk file, then kept trying to install it to my phone until I found an old enough version that is willing to be installed. I was able to update to the latest version automatically without any problems after that.
Hope that helps!
Looks like Runtastic Pro 6.7 is getting added to the list. It may be some API that developers are using that isn't compiling properly on this phone... I hope it gets fixed
Reply from BLU support is that it is a known issue and an update is in the works.
I heard that something happened during the updates (like for Waze) that is causing issues for people with Mediatek CPU's, it does not seem to be intentional though as a fix seems to be in the works.
You can add app "omnivox" with the same error. Right for me it's omnivox and waze.
There was a recent gionee e8 update that hopefully resolves this and will (also hopefully) be ported to us soon.
Glad they're looking into it but this is really disappointing. Makes me want to finally break down and just get an S7 on T-Mo's payment plan.
Got the same problem here.
Hi guys, i just got the BLU pure XL and happen to me the same thing with waze, plus another app MapaRadar. They both cant install trough Play Store. I try installing old versions (waze 3.4 3.5 3.6 3.7 3.8 ..) only one time works. and then suddenly stopped. and it closes itself every time.
Update got the same 504 error.
I got another problem that after starting using play store to install other apps and update the existing ones (chrome, maps, framework..) the play store become unstable , closing itself most of the time. Since i have TWRP i manage to restore my original backup.
I did not update my apps on the play store. at least it stop to get play store app close itself.
If anyone like to share any alternative options until BLU team fix it.
Hi every body,
I have the Allview X2 xtreme the EU version of the Blu pure XL, and i have the same problem waze update return 504 error. Mine is TWRP and rooted.
I be able to install an older version of waze by apk, works fine for few days, now it's always looking for GPS signal....
Evernote too.
I have another problem with push notification who didnt work with 50% of m'y applications.
It works for :SMS, messenger, Facebook, snapchat but not for apps like instagram le monde, bfmtv, le parisien, le figaro...
I already perform hard reset.
Sorry for m'y English,
A french friend !
I justt flashed the gionee rom, mainly to see how it is for daily use, but also to check the IMEI corruption and mobile data issues (i experienced none of either) and on a whim I tried to install waze, and it installs fine (on the blu firmware I had previously had 504 error, as well had other apps just "app not installed")
so possibly gionee already had a fix for this?
Got an update this morning, and the problem seems to be fixed. Only about a week behind gionee, so not bad.

How to block Google Play Services from automatically updating

Hi all, hope all is well. I encountered a problem on my OPO and I didn't manage to solve it, even after searching and reading relevant threads on this forum.
Currently my OPO (not rooted) is running Android 4.4.4 (stock Cyanogen OS 11.0). I am still running Android 4.4.4 as when Lollipop was issued many complained of battery drain issues so I didn't update. Yesterday, Google Play Services updated automatically to version 9.0.82. After the update Chrome, Play Store, Gmail and Google Now are exiting as soon as I try to use them. Thus, I decided to uninstall the Google Play Services updates and I manually installed a version (8.7.03) that doesn't cause the problems mentioned. However, this morning when I connected to WiFi, Google Play Services updated and the problems restarted.
Does anybody know how I can prevent Google Play Services from automatically updating please? If this is not possible, I am considering updating to Marshmallow with Cyanogen OS 13. Is it possible to update to the latter without updating to Lollipop please? Moreover, does the OPO suffer from major bugs/ issues when running Marshmallow please?
p.s: previously I denied both "keep awake" and "wake up" in the Privacy Guard menu of Google Play Services as it fixed the message "Unfortunately Google Play Services has stopped". Yet, this message is appearing again every time I connect to WiFi.
Many thanks, much appreciated!
Hi,
I've got a high battery drain problem with the latest Google Play Services (cmasystemupdateservices causing the wavelock).
There are a couple of reddits about this:
https://www.reddit.com/r/Nexus/comments/4jmw74/cmasystemupdateservice_wakelock/
https://www.reddit.com/r/AndroidQue..._is_cmasystemupdateservice_its_preventing_my/
but no solution.
I'm running 4.4.4 as well, but my wife's Lollipop phone doesn't have this issue. Given that its an update service causing the issue I wonder if this is Google's way of getting us to upgrade!
If this was affecting all Android phones I'd expect to see more of an outcry about it.
Regards.
I too have this problem. Now have to rolled back to stock play services. Any solution?
Unchecked all in Google play settings
@pda1ey thanks for the Reddit links! Unfortunately, as you mentioned they don't offer solutions to our problems.
@vl319 did Google Play Services autoupdate even though you rolled back to stock version please?
@drmuruga I think Google Play Services still autoupdates with those settings unticked.
Thanks to all for your feedback hope we find a solution.
After i rolled back to stock version, it doesn't auto update until now. But u will keep getting message saying apps wont run until play services is updated.... But it is fine for me.. I tried to reset app preference, disable greenify, amplify, privacy guard but none of these work. Probably we have to wait for new update or reinstall the device

I will follow your suggestion and roll back to stock Play Services. When I manually install Google Play Services 8.7.03 it automatically updates to 9.0.82 after a couple of hours. When you had version 9.0.82 were Gmail and Chrome force closing? Thanks!
I experience same problem on my wife's 4.4. cm and on my 5.1.1 android. Google play services automaticily updated to 9.0 and since then all google related apps is force closing. I noticed, that if I uncheck everything under google play services in privacy guard, apps will work, but then my phone's battery will go down the drain . Is it possible, that Google play services update only, when I open Play store and not completely automaticly?

I am using official COS13 and its stock version is 8.3.01, older than 8.7.03 and it doesn't auto update to new version. and i have no problem of syncing contact, calendar, keep and etc.
@vl319 my stock version is version 5. That's why I tried solving the issue by updating manually to 8.7.03. Unfortunately, my stock version is not compatible with the Apps I use. Thanks for the clarification!
@ircman maybe you can update to a newer version of Google Play Services on your phone to solve the issue. For instance, update to 9.0.83 or 9.0.82. Another user (drmuruga) in a previous post suggested to turn off automatic updates in the Play Store. However, I don't know if it works because I haven't tried it myself.

Sorry, I wasn't exact, now I am using 9.0.83. The problem apeared when the Google Play Services updated automaticaly to 9.0.83. Until that moment the phone and all the apps were working flawlesly. I belive that is something wrong with the newest version of Google Play Services, or that they don't want us to block things like Keep Awake, Location, Wake up, Auto Start (this things drains battery really fast).
Probably the only solution for now is to downgrade Google Play Services, and to somehow block automatic updates for Google Play Services.
@ircman as regards blocking the things you mentioned, I think you still can block them if you want.
Moreover, you can manually uninstall the updates of Google Play Services to temporarily solve the problem. Then either stick with the stock Play Services (vl319 clarified in a previous post that it won't auto update but some Apps might not work) or install a version of Play Services that doesn't cause problems as I did. However, after a few hours it auto updates and the problems start again. Thus, you need to repeat this process (I am repeating this process on average twice daily).
If anybody comes up with a permanent solution or has some advice, I would really appreciate it. Thanks in advance!
Hello everyone
I have the same problem you exactly with "google play service" in 9.0.82 release.
it drains my battery and my GPS connection has become very very slow (over 5 min) while with the 8.7.03 release I had no worries.
I am also in version 4.4.4 and I have my wifi, my connection and my GPS data which are off all the time except when I need them.
If anyone has a solution I'm interested

My problem with Google Play Services 9.0.82 is not related to battery drain and GPS. On my OPO 9.0.82 is causing some Google Apps to FC (as I explained in the first post).
If your OPO is rooted there are some solutions on this forum on how to block Google Play Services from updating. tc

If your OPO is rooted there are some solutions on this forum on how to block Google Play Services from updating. tc

OK thank you for your answer.
I actually did a search on the forum and I find an application that seems to do the job is "disable service" findable on the play store.
Please update to latest play services 9.2.xx. It solves the issue

Thanks for letting us know! Just upgraded manually to 9.2.56, till now everything seems fine. I wish there is a method which can block Play Services from auto updating.

I know there is a feature in titanium backup that allows apps to detach it from the market. Wonder if it works for play services.

Bliss OS no Google Play Services

How can i download and install app from Google Play Store ?
at this time i use Bliss-v11.4-Stable--OFFICIAL-20181223-2005_x86_64_k-kernel-4.19_m-18.3.1_pie-x86_f-dev-kernel.org for my laptop.
We clearly state in the Bliss OS thread that Google Play Store is not available and that Bliss OS only comes with FDroid & microG.
So how do we install gapps if we have paid apps we need to use? there appears to be no recovery to install it in the usual way.. (or for that matter how can I stop google play services repeatedly crashing on the earlier nougat and oreo releases of BlissOS?)
No gapps. No go.
Without gapps android is not much use to most people (much as we would all love to ditch google). I understand its not available in BlissOS, I guess the question is: are there any plans to incorporate the ability to add it easily, a more prominent and clear explanation on the XDA home page would be useful. I keep revisiting BlissOS to check if its been added I'd like to know if I should give up and just look elsewhere for an android emulator? This project looks great but without the ability to add play store , software many people will have already bought in the play store since the decade or so its been around can't be used. That's a serious deal breaker..

I'm with you guys until Bliss OS 14 on the the very latest release the Google Play store has worked at least help you guys don't even bundle browser what the hell is up with that I expect this kind of crap out of Circuit City on one of their phones that took to a chain but not that best Android operating system there is out for my system I mean you say after all but PlayStore was installed whenever I downloaded play some rest so I kind of expected it to at least log into my Google account I can't even log into my Google account I've been trying to get Bliss OS to work for ages I finally got a PC tool Boot It Up, all be it flawlessly, now all of a sudden it won't Run Google Play Store all of a sudden I had such a pain in the ass getting into work in the first place everything was all groovy until grub2win so bored my boot up somehow if I hadn't already had Bliss OS installed I would have had to manually try to figure out how to install it because there's no way to install the damn grub startup because when I try to run the installer for grub2win it says something about an autoit error and grub2win. EXE needs to be an object that happens when I try to install it uninstall it anyway that's not what we're talking about here I finally got to work ing setup by the grace of the Cyber gods a little bit of luck a little bit of ingenuity and some 1 0 10 duct tape why even advertise it is a the Google version if it's not going to have Google it'd be one thing if there was a simple way to just flip files onto it from Windows but there's not and even if there is I don't remember all those folders names right when I started Android for the first time on the new system especially when you put it into a blender with all the folders that you got to learn from gearlock either way what I'm saying is I agree and if you're not going to have at least the Google Play Store working it don't put a release out that supports the Google services just go all-out custom and then make an easy import export for the folders so you can sideload stuff easier and for god sakes put a browser in there so that you can at least download something if you don't have any other option. I spent two days trying to log my Google account in anywhere any account and email in the Play Store and I went and spent that much time had I known but every other version of bliss OS I had has been fine with Play Store so news to me if it's so public that you guys don't use Google Play Store you're doing a bad job of letting anybody know and sir I love your operating system so please don't take that too harshly. But I do second the notion that no PlayStore no Bliss it's a deal breaker at least without some other infrastructure in place.

The latest 14.3 that is supposed to have Google Play Store does not. it has Google Play services but you can't log into any accounts so it's pretty much useless other than getting the desktop to come up and it continuously crashes like the Play services not the Bliss
Now that I'm done replying to everybody else's comments I will say that I just installed the 14.3 Alpha it may be a beta now not sure forgive me. It does have Google Play services and it does boo'd up and there are significant changes to the boot script that goes into grub which in a way I really like except for the fact that some of the variables are hidden in two other scripts that I don't know where they are I found some of them cuz I've been digging through those damn folders so much for a year I just happen to know where they are but if you could please come in and some of the grab scripts like where some of the things are that are replaced by variables I noticed you did some like small scrubbing and then referred back to other variable names which I like because all the technical jargon is hidden and it makes it easier to understand but at the same time I had to custom write my grub script because my bootloader or something is screwy in order to reference the Bliss OS install I had to go in and change the Android 64 references from a previous install and I really had some issues trying to find some of the variables that are referenced in the new Bliss OS grub script I think maybe a key might be helpful like where does variable names are put into play like where I can go back and see what they are but if you don't want to do that you know maybe some kind of skeleton index would be very helpful in general though I love what you did with the grub Scripts if it's not you shout out to the guys at gearlock cuz it might have been they're installer that did it. The only reason I updated to 14.3 was because I had an issue when I install 14.2 my bootloader or whatever grub get out and I was on a grub recovery screen no matter what I did once I got Windows to boot I tried to boot Bliss which is where I got all cozy with your grub Scripts and noticed that things such as the start up flags were all underneath one variable Nifty if you can find out where to change them at. But anyways I figured since I messed up the Majestic install on the last update and no matter what I did it would not even reinstall it fix it or update it hey why not just go install the new update of bliss I proceeded to follow the links that I found it online one was an asteroid download and the other was a Play Store download oh how happy I was when it finally booted up then I couldn't figure out damn why won't it sign into my Google account followed by Play Services crashing repeatedly how do you fix it I don't know let's Google it no browser okay but sound like a browser oh put it into gear lock folder back to Windows where's the gear lock folder oh there's the gear lock folder it's been about 10 minutes what was I doing oh yeah oh yeah browser got to f****** find a goddamn APK you know one that's not riddled with viruses and malware okay maybe this will work back to Android in the gear lock folder so it's not there maybe they meant gear load back forth 20 minutes later nope that didn't work either oh after a while I dig and I figure out there's more than one gearload and more than one gearlock two copies of Firefox and an hour later still no browser you see what I'm getting at "FIX the PLAY STORE" it would have been easier to ADB it in I'm sure, the only reason I didn't do that is cuz wait a minute that extra layer of Wi-Fi network and I'm sure it would have have been a pain in the ass just as bad I mean I saw the little tutorial on what the ADB address was but you should just left a little picture of a bomb cuz we know that she would have b e e n a pain in the ass the hay known what I know now that's where I would have started and microG and asteroid that's a freaking joke for somebody that wants their system to work that one little Play services constantly crashing is nothing compared to the 50 that you're going to get with micro G & F Droid.
Google Play Services work perfectly fine on 14.3 if you go to Settings => Apps, locate the Google Play Services app, click it, then click the 3 vertical dot menu and restore Google Play Services to the original version. Then go to Google Play Store and disable auto-updates. I've been there too having Google Play Services constantly crashing every 30 seconds or so with no possibility to log in anywhere. After resetting to the original version this particular problem has been fixed. Play Store works, I can login into my Account.
The two browsers that work on 14.3 are Firefox and DuckDuckGo. Chrome and Opera crash on startup.

thats not working here 5 seconds after i boot for the first time its not updated and if it is really dragging its ass to log in i dont reall think its gonna let me change any settings and i dont think its gonna let me log in. granted i can revert it but that setting is the very first thing i do on any android because i cant stand it when i had a working device and then google does its bs and f**ks all my apps right off the bat so i dont think thats the issue it never had a chance to update. but in all fairness ill look again and if i find myself here again i will feedback. Thank you for your suggestion.

Well, I forgot one important step - before clicking the three dots and reverting the Google Play Services app to the initial state you have to stop/disable it altogether in the same dialog. You have the options to Disable and Force Stop it. Just disable. A lot of things like Google Play Store, Calendar whatever relies on Google Play Services will start crashing, disable these apps too. Revert the Google Play Services to the original state, enable Google Play Store back and stop auto-updates in Google Play Store.
I had exactly the same problem and this solution has worked perfectly fine for me. As a matter of fact I was able to login to Google Play Store and download many apps. Half of them didn't work but it least I got a Web Browser - Firefox and DuckDuckGo are the only one that functioned - and a book reader.
Thank you!
The problem that I am facing doing your solution is there isnt any 3 dot menu like on other apps
I can't believe they didn't fix Gapps yet? I did the trick of downgrading Google Play Services and it worked but My BlissOS got corrupted and I can't re enable Gapps! Tried reinstalling, downgrading. Even google browser does not work! Totally useless! V14.3 And how do you dl 15? I did correct terminal commands creating logblahhblahh.text on sdacard and no dl link!?! Come on Bliss team. Get it together!

Google Play services consuming battery

Hello, is it normal for Google Play services to consume so much battery?
Haven't noticed it before
I'm having the same problem , since the last update for play services. SOT has dropped by upto 1 hr.
Go to settings > apps and notifications > see all > click on the 3 dots > show system then force stop, clear data on Google play services, Google framework and Google play store, then reboot.
Tried the above mentioned steps, did a clean wipe of system
Using oos 9.5.9 with stock kernel and no mods, still having this terrible drain

Tried this but still the same. Google play services is the battery drain champion. Installing the newer versions didn't help either.
Install beta version of the play store...that will help a lot.. ?
https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/google-inc/google-play-services/google-play-services-16-7-99-release/
It might be a third party app issue.
Sent from my GM1913 using Tapatalk
try the beta
There is a known issue with the latest version just Google and see all the reports
I read something about it somewhere, something to do with APPs and ads.....
Some apps continue serving ads even when you device is not active.
This is one of the reasons if I can pay for a APP in will.
Do not download lots of apps, beware of ads.
Hi. I also had the same issue and found a fix. Basically this happened to me when I signed up for beta updates for Google app. Beta updates had some issues which made GPS used in backend all the time which caused huge battery drain. After I came out of beta program, reset app data and back to stable release. Everything is back to normal now. Try and let me know.

Well, I was on the stable Play Services with high battery drain (15%). I'm on beta from this morning, we'll see how it goes.
Had a Huawei Mate20x before, absolutely no issue with the Play Services (same version). Weird how this affects only certain phones.
Try going into Settings > Google > Ads > Tick on to "Opt out of personalized ads". This worked for me when I was getting bad idle drainage.
Definitely opt out of those personalized ads!

After going through settings i realised that wifi scanning was always on,i turned it off and since then battery is slightly better
I bought op7 pro yesterday and so far no drain (no more than 2%) But I noticed I have newer Google Play Services than people reported as problematic. It seems Google has fixed the problem, in my case at least.
On my phone I have 19.0.56 version and I did not do anything to install that version.
