Possible way to root S6 on 5.1.1 - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S6

Has anyone seen thishttp://galaxys6root.highonandroid.com/galaxy-s6-root/how-to-root-galaxy-s6s6-edge-on-android-5-1-1/ yet and tried it? I use my S6 as a daily driver and don't want to risk bricking it. I'm hopeful, but skeptical.

Rooted? Roms?

Stupid question maybe, but where are all the roms? Has the Verizon S6 not been rooted yet? I'm assuming that is why......?

You are correct. There is no root for the Verizon S6, the international has root and ROMs but not us.

I hate to be a stick in the mud but I agree. Especially since this phone is on lollipop. The N4 might have a chance on KK but I don't see that happening soon either. On the bright side this S6 is running great the way it is and has some nice features so I'm thankful for that.
You know I used to root to get decent performance of of a lagging phone, but I'm not sure I'm missing root that much. Now granted there are a few apps that I miss from no root. But I think I can live without root on this phone at the moment. Subject to change to
I'd love root for the ability to theme (theme store themes are garbage) as well as the ability too add things that should have never been removed. Stock browser, smart manager, etc.
Side note, I really hate that I can't draw on pics/screenshots like I could on my Note 3/4 and my s5. Samsung removes features I use in favor of what? /rant off

Why do you say it will "likely not be rooted"? Is Lollipop that much harder for the devs to root or something? Or is support dwindling?
I need root mainly because I need to be able to tether for my job on a daily basis and I'm not about to dish out even more $ to VZW.....my unlimited data is my unlimited data and I'll use it how I please.

Not sure if I would wanna trust that. I would feel safer being rooted. What's the next best device I can get and will be able to root/rom etc? I'm thinking wait for the G4?

Ever since the Mid Galaxy S4 area rooting has been pretty much useless anyway. The most I can do with a rooted S5 is flash lightened TW software which I can do on a non rooted phone. You can flash anything like Cyanogen or custom kernels so rooting now a days is pointless. With that said though it would still be cool if we could

This is not entirely true and depends on your usage. I use automation apps and without root, you don't have the ability to turn on and off GPS, Data, etc. There are other benefits to root as well such as ad blocking.

Is there someone trying to root SM-G920V 5.0.2 G920VVRU2AOF1 ?!

I was searching through diferent threats like http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...-root-tool-t3103016/post62164597#post62164597 , all informations says that pingpong root will never work on SM-G920V 5.0.2 G920VVRU2AOF1 or Lolipop 5.1.1 and no one should wait for a PingPong update cause PinPong will never be able to root them, can anybody tell me if some one is trying any other exploit about this built's ?!?!

As you told me about this method CT Auto Root ( I never heard before) , i was searching online for it and I found the website https://autoroot.chainfire.eu/ , i dont know how Knox Flag will effect my Galaxy S6 , but presuming that's not a big deal , the CF Auto Root website doesn't show anything about SM-G920V , or maybe they haven't update all supported models !
Anyway thanks for replying !

auto root does NOT work on verizon or ATT variants since we have locked BL's

@1663 Tripping knox will void your warranty (unless you are in the EU it's debatable). Secondly you won't be able to use Samsung Pay.
I could care less about Samsung Pay. Wherever they accept SP they will accept Google Wallet, for the most part. I just bought mine brand new and it came with this build. I'm really regretting this device. I hope someone roots it, but it may be quite a while.

you guys dont understand lol.. vzw s6/s6e CANNOT trip knox to root the device.. it will fail EVERY time unless someone found a way to unlock the BL and didnt share with anyone.. he is stuck until a new root exploit comes out that doesnt involve custom kernels/unlocked BLs since its not possible on vzw

I was giving general information about what tripping knox does.
I could not wait for someone to root the newest version of lollipop for Verizon, just purchased a rooted phone from Swappa.com and sold my S6. That is a faster way, IMO, Instead of waiting for someone to root OF1.

gs4 had a root method/loki on mdk bootloader and earlier..
vzw gs5 was towelroot with safestrap..
i had both and previous galaxy phones..
the vzw gs4 was the last phone i was able to use custom kernels on.. gs5 however didnt have a tripped knox as towelroot was used and the BL was locked as it is now as well.

root WITH tripping knox?

so everyone seems to be focusing on a way to get root without tripping knox.
what if you dont give a F about whether knox knows you are rooted?
is there an easy way to root the verizon model then?

I havent tried kingroot on my g5, but I did use it to root my old g3. Best part was, since it was rooted I could flash twrp, do a nandroid backup, then install super su and uninstall kingroot.
Ive heard kingroot steals your phone number, but I dont really care, since I bought this phone as my primary wifi device.

i assure you im in the same boat with sprint which has a higher chance than verizons to get rooted and its not gonna happen im sorry but we just dont have the technical knowhow to do it rite now
because of lgs encryption on the qfused bootloaders.
It's the carriers boot loader. It's carrier specific! And Verizon's is locked down. I believe it's not impossible. The Verizon's s7 got it unlocked i believe!

They are signed with a 256 bit encryption key if u can figure out the key ure in there. Nougat test for modified everything bl recov system aboot lafs. All have to be verified in nougat. Thats why no root. No hack to replicate the key so all ends in secure boot errors. I have been studying since the release of the g4 and there is no hope. Even on mm

Galaxy s7 930u root

Hello,
Trying to find information about this specific model, This seems to be the most appropriate forum to post questions.
I have the Samsung factory unlocked version 930u. It may be possible to unlock the bootloader using OEM unlock, although I haven't tried yet.
Is there a method to root this device? It's a Snapdragon version, not Exynos. All information I could find about root was about the 930F with Exynos. Before voiding the warranty, I need to get all the info at least.
Thanks.
The same method as all carrier variants. The G930U is the same phone as the variants where the only difference is not being controlled by the carrier, otherwise same firmware essentially.
Ok, so I should be able to flash Chainfire 930f firmware on it?

No, you can't flash Exynos firmware. Only US firmwares. You flash the Engineer kernel which is rooted. The, currently, only root method for US variants
Thanks for pointing that out.
So, first unlock the bootloader through oem unlock, then flash this file. Do you have a link to it, make sure I get the right one?
Thank you very much for your help!

The bootloader is still locked. The OEM Unlock in developer options is simply a toggle to allow the bootloader to be unlocked, which it can't currently.

It says G930A but it's the same method across all US variants.

I have a problem when trying to root this device samsung S7 930U. I tried 3 versions of Odin, 3 usb cables ( samsung original) and all the USB ports in my PC, the one in the front and 4 in the back. I always get 2 results. Or it stays "SetUp Connection" forever...or just FAIL! Auth. I don't know what else to try.
Im trying to root the device just only to change the IMEI number, since I can't make it work in my country in Southamerica.
Already check in other posts and other forums...no results yet. But I won't give up
Any ideas?
Thanks guys in advance! :good:
