Kingroot - Verizon LG G5 Questions & Answers

I just added this cause i was curious as to if anybody has tried using Kingroot or kingoroot to see if they worked. I know ive seen some shady websites but i dont wanna even try the actual app because this is my personal phone and i dont wanna mess anything up on it.

You will know when there is root
Sent from my VS987 using XDA-Developers mobile app

I will say this if everyone emails or requests KingRoot to try and make a method for this phone, I believe we could get their attention and they might bump up its priority.

I havent tried kingroot on my g5, but I did use it to root my old g3. Best part was, since it was rooted I could flash twrp, do a nandroid backup, then install super su and uninstall kingroot.
Ive heard kingroot steals your phone number, but I dont really care, since I bought this phone as my primary wifi device.

There's no root for the Verizon lg g5 and Verizon made it impossible to get root. A good reason to switch to T-Mobile

Nothing is impossible, sure they will try, I hope patient
LG G5 VS987

guys it will never happen and if it does the g5 will be long gone
i assure you im in the same boat with sprint which has a higher chance than verizons to get rooted and its not gonna happen im sorry but we just dont have the technical knowhow to do it rite now
because of lgs encryption on the qfused bootloaders.

It's the carriers boot loader. It's carrier specific! And Verizon's is locked down. I believe it's not impossible. The Verizon's s7 got it unlocked i believe!

They are signed with a 256 bit encryption key if u can figure out the key ure in there. Nougat test for modified everything bl recov system aboot lafs. All have to be verified in nougat. Thats why no root. No hack to replicate the key so all ends in secure boot errors. I have been studying since the release of the g4 and there is no hope. Even on mm

Is there someone trying to root SM-G920V 5.0.2 G920VVRU2AOF1 ?!

I was searching through diferent threats like http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...-root-tool-t3103016/post62164597#post62164597 , all informations says that pingpong root will never work on SM-G920V 5.0.2 G920VVRU2AOF1 or Lolipop 5.1.1 and no one should wait for a PingPong update cause PinPong will never be able to root them, can anybody tell me if some one is trying any other exploit about this built's ?!?!

You can root with CF auto root. This will trip Knox flag (don't know if you care).

As you told me about this method CT Auto Root ( I never heard before) , i was searching online for it and I found the website https://autoroot.chainfire.eu/ , i dont know how Knox Flag will effect my Galaxy S6 , but presuming that's not a big deal , the CF Auto Root website doesn't show anything about SM-G920V , or maybe they haven't update all supported models !
Anyway thanks for replying !

auto root does NOT work on verizon or ATT variants since we have locked BL's

@1663 Tripping knox will void your warranty (unless you are in the EU it's debatable). Secondly you won't be able to use Samsung Pay.
I could care less about Samsung Pay. Wherever they accept SP they will accept Google Wallet, for the most part. I just bought mine brand new and it came with this build. I'm really regretting this device. I hope someone roots it, but it may be quite a while.

you guys dont understand lol.. vzw s6/s6e CANNOT trip knox to root the device.. it will fail EVERY time unless someone found a way to unlock the BL and didnt share with anyone.. he is stuck until a new root exploit comes out that doesnt involve custom kernels/unlocked BLs since its not possible on vzw

I was giving general information about what tripping knox does.
I could not wait for someone to root the newest version of lollipop for Verizon, just purchased a rooted phone from Swappa.com and sold my S6. That is a faster way, IMO, Instead of waiting for someone to root OF1.

gs4 had a root method/loki on mdk bootloader and earlier..
vzw gs5 was towelroot with safestrap..

the vzw gs4 was the last phone i was able to use custom kernels on.. gs5 however didnt have a tripped knox as towelroot was used and the BL was locked as it is now as well.

Verizon 5.1.1 Root??

Sorry, but I have searched, and can't find a direct answer, is 5.1.1 rooted for Verizon?
Where can I find the guide if it is.
Currently I am rooted on 5.02, have been delaying any OTA since purchase, rooted using Ping Pong
Thanks in advance
Anxiously awaiting this myself...I do know that Verizon locked the bootloader on or before 5.1.1 and as far as I know there is no root...yet.
Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk
It does not exist. Not even the top rom makers and programers have been able to do it. The 5.1.1 update will also make it so you can't go backwards to 5.0.2. This is the first time since I've owned cell phones that I've seen a company finally beat the cell phone gurus but they finally did it on this one. However if you are not on Verizon or AT&T you can still do it through ODIN.
So if you have a phone pre 5.1.1 that rootable and root it...will you be able to flash 5.1.1?

s4 beat the cell phone gurus... Technically... MDK was unlocked, nothing after that was.
s5 has also never had a bootloader unlock..
Lots of Verizon phones don't have much, root at most....

It will not be released ever. That has been said a few times. It uses(from what I have heard) a Zero Day exploit, meaning it's very damn complicated, and it has a high chance of bricking people's phones. That was never meant to go to the general public. It was aimed at other devs. It's a proof of concept, meaning it CAN be unlocked, just not through that way.

0 day exploits are OS vulnerabilities that the manufacturer themselves aren't aware of. It doesn't necessarily mean that exploit itself has a high chance of bricking the phone.
Not releasing the method could be any number if things. These reasons could range from stolen proprietary source code being used to the exploit's author deciding that he doesn't feel like sharing the method.
I heard that the team that found the method said that they would NOT release it at the moment but that in the future it will be available.

I know that it may not have a high chance of bricking the device, but with the device, I assume it is thanks to shenanigans with Verizon and Knox. I have already discussed legal issues briefly in the s4 bootloader thread... Damn Money Sucking Lawyers. It is what it is. I think it has given some people hope because there IS A WAY... Just maybe not that way.
Maybe hope yet just pay this on google plus not sure if our verizon variant will benefit from this method so correct me if I am wrong but take a look any how.
Edit: for some reason it won't let me post a screen shot but surfing g plus I came across chainfires new su beta that is systemless and confirmed working on stock s6 running android 5.1.1

Yep your in the correct place as far as unlocked bootloader there isn't one unless your phone is supper old and wasn't updated you have to be on 4.2 if your phone is running 4.4.4 then your only option for root is the one in the top post of the forum by crash it will let you get exposed working and get rid of some bloat ware but that's the best we have for these phones.

Just did it simple, if your phone was new from verizon it probably shipped without the ota and you can unlock it easy, it will try to download and install the ota, DONT LET IT INSTALL THE OTA! if you do you wont be able to use sunshine to unlock it, if it downloads the ota do a factory reset to delete the download until you get it rooted and freeze the moto ota app, I used "app quarantine" to freeze it and it stays disabled even after root loss when the phone reboots until you have a chance to unlock with sunshine, its free in the google playpen i mean store, his what i did http://forum.xda-developers.com/droid-ultra/help/4-21-root-unlock-t3352386/post66205828#post66205828

Root yet

Is there any progress on unlocking bootloader and/or rooting the verizon lg g5
I haven't heard much on progress for root in all honesty. However, if we can all download the KingRoot app and "try to root it" those devs will see it as requests for the phone to be rooted. And we are already at 172 at the moment so if we get more people to request this those devs will put more focus into it.
Sent from my VS987 using XDA-Developers mobile app
I doubt it. The LG G4 isn't even rooted yet (well those who have upgraded to MM) but you can downgrade to Lollipop which i haven't had luck in doing. Other Companies like ATT, Etc. have had great success in rooting their G5 but Verizon likes their Boot-loader Locked!
It seems the KingRoot group may start to work on helping us get root but the only thing is that the easy way to request is downloading the app and click "root" cause it'll fail but it sends a request ticket and I'm sure if we get more it'll get root a lot sooner.

Oh cool that's awesome. I don't know how many they need but we have gotten a lot but I assume we still need more. To be honest I'm no fan of waiting for our phone to go up on the bounty list and wait even longer but it's either the bounty waiting line or its KingRoot. But in order for KingRoot to work we just need people to download the app and send in their request.
https://kingroot.net/wap
There's a link for the official website. For anybody who finds the fake ones and doesn't trust it.
