My nexus is charging very slowly! I tried a lot of things - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

A mistery with my nexus
Hello! First sorry for my bad english.
I'm running stock android 6.0 (developer preview 3) by stephanmc.
I installed months ago the twrp recovery wich I currently hace.
Since a few days ago , my phone began to charge the battery very slowly and stop being recognized by the PC.
I discovered that is charging in USB mode when it is actually connected to the wall. I'm using the original cable and charger of the nexus. I have already used other cables and its the same results.
The curious thing is that when this happens ( because if I restart the phone many times eventually works well for a while) is when my phone doesnt boot in bootloader. I discovered that a black screen appears when I reset the phone in bootloader mode. And if I restart the phone many times until the bootloader is visible , the phone charge and is recognized by the PC.
Anyone know what might be happening ? I'm from Uruguay and I have no guarantee!
Thanks and regards!

Something similar happened to me once because I changed something in the kernel I should have not. Don't remember what but update the kernel and I was fine after that.

USB recognizability in M Preview is a bit buggy for now, you have to switch your mode to MTP when you connect the device to the PC.
About bootloader, what do you mean by "reset the phone in bootloader" ?
make sure you have at least Lollipop bootloader installed, then let me know.
Thanks

Hi! Thank you both for your answers. My english is bad and even more when talking about phone's components and stuff.
I meant to say that when I hold the power button and vol down with my phone off, or power button + vol down + vol up, most of the times I recieve a black screen on my dipslay.
I'm pretty sure I have the lollipop bootloader because I installed your 6.0 ROM from twrp on 5.1.1 stock, having already this issue.
I'm afraid to try installing the factory image because when I get to the bootloader the good news don't last too long and suddenly the bootloader isn't working again
Another data is that when I try to change the USB connection mode from the developer menu on settings I recieve this message: "Unfortunately, settings has stopped".
Do you think I may have a deffective usb port or/and flex cable?

Do not worry about your English I'm not a native speaker too, so I can understand this .
The best way to know if bootloader haven't an issue, is to try to boot in that mode from command line: adb reboot bootloader
Some more questions:
You state that you already had this issue on Lollipop stock?
What do you mean by " don't last too long and suddenly isn't working again" ? You mean the phone reboots itself without doing anything ? Or the screen of green Android in bootloader becomes black and you still are in bootloader mode?
Have you then installed my rom in the clean way i described ?
I would like to have the exact steps by steps of what you have
Thanks

Hi! Sorry for not responding before! I've been very busy with the university.
If I can acces to the bootloader (MOST of the times I can't, It's really a pain in the *#@) my pc does recognize the phone in that mode, and I can even go to the recovery and mount the data. Sometimes if I reboot the phone after that it works well for a little while.
The other times the pc doesnt recognize the phone at all, if I connect the phone it only starts charging, not leting me to change the connection mode (settings has stopped).
What do you mean by " don't last too long and suddenly isn't working again" ? You mean the phone reboots itself without doing anything ? Or the screen of green Android in bootloader becomes black and you still are in bootloader mode?
No, I've never been too long in bootloader to check that, but I dont think so. I meaned that if I start the phone in that moment (when the phone boots into bootloader mode) it works well but only for a little while.
Most of the times that I try to boot into bootloader the phone vibrates once and then a black screen appears. I tried rebooting the phone into bootloader mode from an app, but its the same result that pressing the buttons of the phone.
Yeah I had this problem on stock 5.1.1 too.
I installed your rom in the way that you described!
Thanks!!

Bump
Someone knows a possible solution? It is possible that I have the data pins of the port broken? Or the USB flex board half broken? Idk.

[Q] Stuck at bootlogo

Hi,
I got this tablet from a friend, and it's stuck at the boot logo. I've tried hard reset, reset via recovery, nothing seems to work.
How can I flash the latest official rom?
Can't seem to find a tool for it, and Asus suggest to flash with the tablet itself, but that's not possible for now.
Anyone?
Thx!

Easyflasher to flash TWRP recovery > copy ROM to MicroSD card, flash ROM
Thanks! I can't seem to get him into APX mode, what is the exact procedure?
Connect the tab to USB > PC first
Power Off the Tab
Hold Volume Up & Power
Nothing will appear on the Tab screen, but the PC should sound the USB connect noise / device manager will show it has connected - only takes a few seconds to enter APX mode
I've tried that, doesn't seem to recognize it . Would you help me via IM of some sort?
It`ll be the drivers most likely, open device manager when its connected and in APX mode, and manually update the drivers using the Universal Naked Driver from the Easyflasher site
I don't have any IM installed unfortunately but I`ll help you out here
Ok, that would be wonderful. The problem is, I don't know when it's off. I can't get it to shut down, it keeps rebooting. I'm monitoring dev manager with sound high, but it's not coming up. Cable is working, because it will charge. Using the original cable. (Windows 7 x64)
Best thing to do would be connect it to the PC, then press and hold Power until it shuts off, then try for APX mode - you might even be able to enter APX from a powered on state by holding the same button combo, but Ive not tested that myself
And a cable that charges doesn't automatically mean it will work for Data, they use different pins, some for power and some for data, if the data pins are damaged, it will still charge
I can't seem to get it working . Any other ways to flash it?
Not without being able to get it to boot - you'll need APX mode to do anything in the state it's in now
A bad cable is a common problem though, might be worth grabbing another one from eBay
To bad. I'll try and let it drain till it's empty, and fully charge it then. Just ordered another cable.
Thx for the help!
If the System / Data partitions are corrupted, which generally causes the boot loop, then draining and recharging won't help
Plus be careful not to drain the battery to 0%, their design prevents them from recharging if they hit 0% - many people have had to buy new batteries after not using their tab for a few months and letting it drain completely
Good luck, so long as there is no hardware damage, once you have a working cable it should be pretty straight forward to get TWRP recovery and a new ROM flashed to it
Might be worth trying your current cable on another PC too
Thanks for the headsup! Will try!
Hello everyone,
Not to thread jack but I have a similar problem and instead of opening a new thread I decided to revive this one.
I have a similar problem that my TF101 has been working flawlessly for many years. It is rooted and was running 4.3 ROM. As of a couple of days ago it just won't boot at all. It has been stuck at the NVidia screen and just sits there. I tried to enter recovery mode by using volume(-) + power and the unit presents the TEAMWIN logo and just loops as well by showing the TWRP screen (3 seconds) then going blank for a second then showing TWRP screen again in a cycle.
I downloaded and tried Easyflasher and Brks toolkit and nothing can complete the flash. Tried different installed drivers as well. I can enter MTP mode which the computer can see the device but the manufacturer name and model are not-recognized. I can also enter APX mode but while trying to flash anything I get an error message (error, cannot flash bootloader) and the computer dings (device disconnects).
I have been trying for a days now and have run out of ideas.
Has the unit finally bit the dust? Does any one out there have any more ideas or suggestions on what to try next?
TIA for any help provided.
Anyone with any sort of help on my previous post? Time to retire it for real this time?
TIA

[Q] huawei g300 (u8815) not responding to anything after freezing & rebooting..

so, i have a huawei g300 it was constantly freezing and restarting so i rooted, unlocked bootloader and also zeroed my imei so i could downgrade to gb. after successfully downgrading it started acting up again like before, so i upgraded back to a non branded ics firmware. after awhile it started acting up again after a couple of restarts it never came back on again, it doesn't respond to anything at all recovery mode nothing. but all the lights on the phone flash for a second when i insert the battery and sometimes when i connect the phone to the pc it says unknown device. am no noob so i have tried almost all the known tricks. fastboot, recovery, cwm all that stuff they don't work. even opened the phone and took out the small battery to erase the bios(whatever it's called) memory.
so no one here can help me? cmon someone! anybody!

how do i hard wipe? is it the same as factory data reset in recovery menu? my phone doesn't turn on at all... when i insert the battery all the keys and charging led flashes for a sec that's all i get from this phone. i noticed when i insert the usb cable into the pc i get the unkown device message. makes me wonder what state it's in wether (bootloader mode or something else) and Softwares that operate in bootloader mode cant find the phone either. am really confused, never experienced such a brick before. or maybe it''s a hardware problem cos all evidence points to that.

Oneplus One Dead

Hey guys. I'm kinda desperated so let's see if there is anything else I can do.
I was playing a game on my phone and it started rebooting alone.
At this point, I long pressed the power button, don't ask me why, but I did it. and bang. it is dead. No boot, no loading, nothing. It still vibrates when I try to turn it on.
I had 30% Battery left.
I have root and my phone for 3 months.
I had Nandroid backup.
Long press power button, volume up + power, volume down + power doesn't work.
When connected to PC, I get the QHSUSB_BULK device on.
Tried to ColorOS Method but:
I cannot install ColorOS drivers cause it doesn't detect them.
I tried Qualcomm drivers and they worked, so then I used the program Msm8974DownloadTool to install ColorOS.
It went okay, all finished and I got the green letters in the end.
Still doesn't boot up, nothing changed.
I cannot detect my phone via ADB. Tried with the drivers and without the drivers and with clean drivers.
What can I do? I always had such care for my phone in case of an emergency, but for some weird reason this happened. I wasn't even messing up with the phone, it just died cause I turned it off while booting up?
Okay so, for some reason, I managed to get my phone on fastboot.
I used this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-one/general/guide-return-opo-to-100-stock-t2826541
To reset my phone.
and the phone did all the new loadings and installs ETC....in the end?
My phone still doesn't boot.
Like wow?...

What do you mean I lost my adb access? I can still find my phone there and it's still working. (aparrently)
I tried to use the command "fastboot reboot" and while it turns off the device from windows, it still doesn't boot back up.

Disregard that then, when the phone is booted you have to manually give adb access but you're right when it's in recovery or other modes it's already there.
Does your screen power on at all? Do you think your LCD/digitizer could've somehow just died on you?
I highly doubt it, it happened when I shut off the phone when it was rebooting. I dont hear anything when I turn on the phone and i cant press anything or slide to unlock. nothing. so ....yeah. Weird stuff is that I did fastboot reboot and now i can't get to fastboot again. sigh.
Read this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-one/help/wrong-kernel-black-screen-fastboot-adb-t2835696
Somewhere within it is the solution to your QHSUSB_BULK problem.
Already did bro, and I fixed it, did you even read my full post? I managed to install colorOS, but it's still not booting up.
Hello guys! Last update! My phone was not even vibratting when i pressed power button. I put it to charge and finnaly I got a screen. its not what I wanted...but its a small step!
Its the Low battery charge icon! So...I've heard about this other issue about the phone not charging. Could this be it? I will be trying some techniques like https://forums.oneplus.net/threads/...een-opo-not-booting-due-over-discharge.88107/.
Hopefully it will help, but it may take some days.

Bricked Xperia Z3v with locked bootloader, can't enter recovery or flash mode

Hi guys. So I have been going through xda and Google for hours and hours trying solutions, to no avail. I almost never post on forums for help because I can usually find the solution. Not this time. This is my last resort next to throwing my phone out a window or praying for death's sweet release.
The facts: I have a rooted Xperia Z3v. I tried to upgrade TWRP in order to follow some directions on upgrading to Nougat. I flashed TWRP from 2.8.X.X to 3.X.X.X. I rebooted and it never made it to the Sony logo. Now, if I plug the phone in to either a wall socket or PC it vibrates, endlessly at three second intervals, each time with red LED. If I try to enter flash mode, then its the same but with a brief green led after the red. I can enter fastboot (the only way to stop it vibrating while plugged in) and my PC sees it, including Flashtool, but since my bootloader is locked permanently, I can't really do much with it.
When plugged into the wall-charger, I noticed that the charger's LED changes from "Active" to "Inactive" with every vibration. I'm pretty sure I'm in a reboot loop. The screen is totally dead and there's no logo, but every three seconds it kills it self and comes back.
I have tried everything I could think of.
What I have:
I have the stock firmware ready to go
I have TWRP backups on SD card and PC
I have Flashtool
I think my drivers are good, but not 100% sure
I can fastboot
I'm at my wit's end and losing hope.
Please, I'm open to any suggestions at all.
There is a chance to save your phone 50% this trick might work for your phone sort of .
First i need some answers
1.If you go to flash mode the phone vibrates right is it detectable by your pc at that time.
2.did you Try hard reset not by the vol button press but the very sophisticated button under the sim tray.
3.https://forum.xda-developers.com/z3/development/nougat-7-1-1-android-source-project-t3532346
try this I know this is not for your phone but you will be able to actually boot your phone or atleast take a rest for what the heck is going on with your phone
4.If none of the solutions work disscuss with me i am happy to help
Same thing here. Flashed wrong ROM via TWRP.
As a result, immediate loop (repetitive vibration, led blinking red) when connected via USB. No recovery access. Only fastboot access (blue led).
Locked bootloader.
Flashtool:
- tried flashing kernel.sin extracted from a stock ftf - no good (locked bootloader, unlocking requires flashboot which is not accessible).
- tried flashing system.sin extracted from a stock ftf - no good, flashtool says
INFO - Flashing selected system
and immediately after that
INFO - Please check the log before rebooting into system
So it clearly doesn't do anything. Any other approaches to try?

Question HELP PHONE STUCK ON BOOTLOOP AT GOOGLE WRITING AND CANT GET DATA OUT

Hi all,
Im in a desperate and urgent need of help.
My Mrs pixel 7 pro is stuck in a boot loop that restarts 5 seconds after the google writing appears when starting. I wasn't home when it happened but she doesnt really make sure her phone has some battery before turning it on, as soon as she sees 2% she starts it, so im guessing maybe she bricked it while the phone was trying to apply an update when turning it on as she said that the external battery didnt have any juice left inside.
Anyway,
I know i can wipe the phone from recovery mode and make it into a factory reset phone. The issue here is we have over 6000 photos and videos of our son in that phone that she hasnt copied to the external hard drive i gave her for months due to her not liking that her little laptop is slow.
I tried recovery mode Reboot, i tried going into safe mode (no luck as it will go straight into fastboot mode). She doesnt care about a lot of things and obviously she never unlocked the developer setting or bootloader so device state is also locked.
I am begging you, anything any info or advice on how i can get those pictures out of the phone. Is there any way i can flash the stock firmware just to make the phone start and copy them after?
Any possibility or chance or retrieval?
I am willing to pay anyone that can guide me in the right direction as there are over 6 months worth of photos and memories.
Thanks in advance and may the luck be on my side.

If you can enter recovery mode try to sideload the same exact ota package of the rom she's running, maybe that can help. Good luck!

As @acuicultor said;
Here's Googles official OTA updates and instructions etc.
From what i've read briefly and as far as i can gather (still running a stock pixel 7 pro - for the first phone in god knows how long, so i'm not well read on this device but...) if you can sideload the latest OTA update via sideload then you should in theory be able to save the data and boot again. But if you flash full firmware then your device will be wiped in the process (if that's even possible with a locked bootloader).
Very best of luck
EDIT: hmm thinking about it, you won't have enabled USB debugging in dev options, hang on, i'll reboot direct to recovery to see if i can get the device recognised without USB debugging enabled. Sorry to be vague (hopefully someone more experienced with this device will chime in with more advice), like i say, i'm not rooted, flashed with custom rom - nothing, just plain old stock so i've not read up much on proceedures for this device. Bare with me!!
Had another thought, do you or have you been using Google photos to view your images on the device. If so, did you enable backup photos online when you first set the app up? If so, they could be backed up automatically...
Edit: my bad..
Try this link
If that fails just Google 'Google photos sign in'
Just tried from recovery to run some adb cmd's, no joy without enabling debugging 1st
There may be hope... If your photos aren't backed online already from above link...
EDIT:
1. From power off state (make sure the device is charged before apply any ota update) Press vol down and power together. As soon as it boots to google logo, let go of vol down, then power. That will put you in fastboot mode where you use the vol up/down to navigate to Recovery mode and power button to select.
2. Then when you have the screen that says 'no command', press power button and CLICK vol up (releasing vol up straight away but keeping power pressed). That'll take you a blue menu at top of screen.
3. Use vol buttons to navigate to 'apply update from adb'. I have checked using 'adb devices' and 'adb reboot sideload' cmd's on PC and the device is now recognised...
Will write further instructions shortly. (no guarantees this will work tho without losing data...or even if it'll work at all - i suspect the OTA update with just fail to transfer)
OR there is another option, using the same instructions above (1) in fastboot mode use the volume buttons to navigate the menu, power button to select Rescue mode. Then contact your service center for support who will advise/offer support - hopefully, which may end up having to send the device in and still offers no guarantee of preserved data

Following the link it's all explained there:
- no USB-Debugging needed
- booting recovery by key combo
- no loss of any data when using the OTA files
Also turning on USB-Debugging in developer options is not necessary for the recovery. It's enabled by default and moreover the recovery doesn't consider any system settings like disabled/enabled USB-Debugging.

FYI: Stock recovery only uses a minimal adbd with a very limited set of commands. That's why some known ADB commands won't work.
