Hi,
I have an elderly grandmother that lives in another country and I would like to send her my nexus 5. The problem is she is afraid that she will not be able to use the device properly and since I will not be there to help she will be stuck. That is why I would like to flash a rom that would make the interface easier to use like Samsung and LG have on their phones. If you could recommend me any that are stable I would appreciate it a lot.
Thanks in advance,
A concerned grandson
Flash MIUI on it, its an easy interface and self explanatory, and there are multiple languages to choose from so I think that would be perfect for your grandmother, also increase the DPI if u can, it'll make everything bigger
Sent from my Nexus 6 using Tapatalk
I would leave everything stock and just install a specialized launcher from playstore.
Maybe change the font size max and that's it.
It would be a problem for your grandma if there's something wrong with the ROM in the long run (which usually happens with every ROM).

I can't see how you could get easier than stock android to be honest. If she has eyesight problems then just set the font bigger as suggested
Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
Yes, just leave it stock and enlarge the font. Flashing MIUI would be a HORRIBLE idea.

Ok so I hard bricked my S3 and I need to send off to mobile tech video for them to fix. They are also going to root it for me so I need suggestions on the best Rom to pick. These are the main features I want from the Rom, the note 2 split screen, floating keyboard, note 2 camera with gallery and close to stock feel/look.
Thanks guys
Sent from my SCH-I605 using Tapatalk 2
These posts tend to get shut down as a lot of people were asking for suggestions for the "best" or "most stable" rom. No s3 rom has split screen. Plus you can easily go to the android development thread and to a particular rom's thread and look at its features.
Thanks. And synergy Rom does have split screen, I was just wondering if others did too.
Sent from my SCH-I605 using Tapatalk 2
Sounds lame but I would just read the OP of each rom. It's better to learn that way for me.

I would usually suggest that you try them to see but you have been having a string of bad luck with your phone. I like hyper drive which has multi windows as well as the MOAR. I personally can't stand the multi windows option but that's just me. I also think bonestock rom is a nice choice but I can't remember if it has multi windows or not. Like others have said just read the threads to which one you like and good luck after you get your phone back

Only multi window Roms I know of are synergy and the goodness rom which is still being ironed out, that is what I'm waiting on. There may be others..

Thanks. Yea it was a string of bad luck that day lol. I have a note 2 and I use the multi Window here and there but it's nice to just have that option. I've root before but I've been away from android for a while and had a brain fart that night, I didn't check the files name and when I added it to Odin it said .tar.tar not
.tar.md5 oops and that was it

I bricked my Samsung epic a few years ago because my dog jumped up and yanked the usb cable out during Odin but luckily the sprint employees at the store wasn't smart enough to realize what I did and exchanged it for a new one. My fiance has the note 2 and she uses the multi windows a lot. Since that is something you really want give hyper drive a go.
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda premium
Thanks and that sucks about your dog pulling the cable out, I make sure no one is around when I do mine. Yea unfortunately I got the S3 of Craigslist and never activated it so it would be hard for me to get a warranty exchange lol. But sweet I'll look into that rom. I really want to root so I can install emoji's so I don't have to use handcent sms lol

Oweida (Developing the rom, and helps out)
Cnexus (Pointing out files etc, whats needed etc etc)

So post what you feel of this project here, and feedback etc here. Thanks!
1s! Really glad you took the time to do the op justice and I hope people use this and leave the devs alone on their work space thread! I wanna say I'm really glad to see sense come to are phone. I always wanted a HTC phone for sense but I have always stayed faithful to Samsung after my iPhone 3gs which I had idroid on it or maybe that was my 3g idk. After seeing how far we are I'm glad to see this totally seems possible to do and development hasn't died after the ROM boots. I'm grateful for all the talented devs we have here!

I owned the htc one before the s4. I myself have never been a huge fan of sense, but they really got it right with the HTC one. Both hardware wise and software. IDK what optimizations they did with sense with its so smooth and fast, its incredible.

I know you devs are working hard to complete the difficult part of porting the rom...
My question is, once it is ported, would it be easy to mod the rom or tweak it to make it smoother, or would it be too fragile? Could you just flash a mod which was made for a HTC One rom? or would each mod have to be changed to be compatible with the port?
Keep up the good work

You'd have to try. But looking at it, I wouldn't dare to flash anything on such fragile rom unless developers say It's ok.

It's actually depends if it's Rom dependent. But I would say yes. Unless it's not replacing any necessary libs
I would say yes since I saw a Samsung tablet port to note ii and they said don't use mods for note ii. Use tablet mods. So it should work. I honestly never use that much mods. So can't say exactly but it's most likely no.

Quick question.... is it more than likely gonna be a long ass time bwfore this rom becomes super stable or 100%
Anyone think that this Extraordinary and extreme undertaking on htc sense 5 port idea will infact be mastered or fail

I own a Nexus 5, the thing is I just installed Facebook on it.
But, I still get the old skeuomorphic detailed UI.
My friend has another Phone, and he has the Flat UI for the app.
Both the apps are on the same version.
Can anyone give me an insight to what's happening?
Thanks
The design is server controlled. Part of their beta program. They randomly select people with the update design. They'll shortly make it public after sometime I guess

I get failed to connect to forum please contact forum administrator along those lines. It seems to be getting slightly better but it still bad. If I keep refreshing a lot I can load the pages.. But it sucks because I know it's not on our side, almost certainly with XDA. I changed my IP just in case by spoofing my Mac on my router but still nothing. Other forums work well. It's unfortunately a big problem that only a handful of us are experiencing. Waiting game til someone hears our cries for help I suppose.

Thank you good sir. Didn't know that was there even after looking I'll admit. So it seems like a lot of other people are having the same problem. It definitely makes dealing with something easier when you're not the only one and saves from having to troubleshoot.
Edit : can confirm its something between XDA and our ISPs.
The problem I described happens on Xfinity Comcast Internet.
However, the problem does not occur at all on LTE T-Mobile.
