Defective memory - Galaxy Tab 2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
Apparently my P3100 ssd is dead. I can't format or write to any partition, as after a reboot they will have the same data as previously. /dev/block/platform/omap/omap_hsmmc.1/by-name/DATAFS fails checks, and any attempt to format it seems to work but never writes the new fs - the old data is always there.
I don't want to send it to samsung for repairs with account data on it, but it seems impossible to wipe.
I was thinking of buying a replacement motherboard or finding someone to replace the SSD chips (if possible) in Europe. Any idea? All motherboards I can find on ebay or amazon are in the US, and are all refurbished, without any indication if they are for the p3100 or the p3113.
Anybody selling the motherboard or able to replace the ssd?

[Q] Need Help!HD7 can't work.

there are four problems in my HD7:
1. After I setup Zune, and connect my HD7 to MY PC,but my PC still cannot find the device.
2. In "About", the total storage shows 15.73MB. and 10.12MB can be used.
3.every time I run application in HD7, it always indicates storage limit.
4.After I hard reset my HD7, the screen stays in the flahing and in the middle shows HTC. It has lasted several hours.
who can help me?!!! Save my HD7, save the World. SORRY for my poor English.
I think you have a broken device. You will need to contact your carrier/htc if a hard reset doesn't fix it. Yoy might have a bad internal sd card.
I bought my HD7 from another countries,so that's a big problem. Should I replace my SDcard by myself. IS the 32GB class2 Sandisk the best choice?

i also bought my hd7 from ebay and i also encountered a problem with it.what i did is i had it repaired by an htc service center here from where i am at.
did you receive it that way? why not report it to your seller. if you bought the device in ebay, chances are you can make disputes. seller might provide you a solution. if there is an htc service center near you, try visiting them im sure theyll be able to help you out.
You definitely have a broken device, get hold of the seller and get your money back

Recovering Photos From SD Card?

Hello,
I have a broken usb and also the touch is broken....
So I can't get the photos via usb connection on the phone and can't upload photos to skydrive ...
Is there a way to get the micro sd card into the pc and get the photo out of it?
Insert to another phone with microSD or buy a Adapter "microSD to SD".
So with the adapter windows can read the sd?
Going to try it out
Of course!
Sometimes you will need install drivers, but it's no problem.
Thought that locking sd thing didn't let you use the sd after...

Warning!
You can't just remove the SD card from your device...If you do, It will be unrecognizable to other devices and PC's, you run the risk of never recovering any of the data on it.
WP7 devices security encrypts the SD card and it has to be unlocked before removing it from the device.
If you do remove the SD card make sure not to turn on your device while the SD card is out of it, otherwise your device won't recognize the SD card anymore either
If your device is Pre-Mango (which I highly doubt) some devices like a Symbian can detect it. If your on Mango/Tango there is no way anything will detect it unless you unlocking the SD card first.
Trust me I found out the hard way when I upgraded mine from 16gb to a 32gb SD card. No device will detect, format or recover any information from it and I've tried several PC's, cameras, phones, Symbian, software programs and even printer stations.
To unlock it you need to install XMod storage unlock cab. With your USB port not working I'm not sure how you'll be able to do it.

Well windows7 doesn't recognize my sd card...
also I can't do anything since the usb on my phone is broken
if you are lucky you enabled wifi sync in zune , if so you can sync with that
if not then you will never get to your data
The touch on the phone stopped working...
Seems it's a go to the trash bin phone...
So it's impossible to recover the data, when u have no phone to do it?
Is there any original wp7 phone with sd card?
That may be used to do it?

no because the sd card is locked to your phone and only your phone.
sorry but I think you will never see your data on your sd card again.
Damn...
This is so so so anoying....
[end of rant]
Sorry for my recent posts.
Why you don't repair phone? Maybe only need to change Touchscreen, also fix charging circuit?
Well, because is super expensive...
Around 100-170€ the fixing it
and I don't know if htc will flash the phone...
Or only saving all data from phone. I think you need only photos/videos? As I know, htc services only change parts or mainboards, they are not fix charging circuit or etc, when phone was broken. If give phone to htc or etc service without warranty, you can say, than they do not flash the phone.
I think, you can give the phone to other service and repair only USB.

HTC will never agree not to wipe the phone, in fact its doubtful anyone will, things happen, sometimes bad things happen, they promise not to delete stuff and something goes wrong, the next thing they have is a law suite
if your replacing the screen try do it yourself, id strongly suggest you replace both the LCD and the digitiser in one go, usually you can buy them combined which is a lot easier to install, replacing the USB socket is a bit harder but equally possible.
you might find a local tech that will can "try" to fix it all without losing everything, but they will never promise to do it.
Hello,
I've been lookng at lcd + touchscreen...
And I got a question, the ones I see on ebay (for example) say its for HTC HD2 T8585
I think my htc hd2 is the europe version, is there any problem with buying a lcd for t8585?

[Q] Have I damaged microSD card with bad partitioning?

Hi!
I wanted to try nativeSD for my HD2, and have tired to partition the card.
As a result the card can't be partitioned/formatted correctly any more.
What I did:
Started with a regular fat32 formatted and working Sandisk Ultra-1 32gb microSD card.
Booted Ubuntu 10 (and 12 later on) in VMware (connected the usb card reader to the VM), tried partitioning with gparted and the built in disk utility.
After applying the new partition layout (4gb EXT4, 25gb FAT32) gparted and disk utility both stalled.
I tried multiple times, even tried to go back to just one FAT32 partition, no luck.
Then I turned to windows tools Easeus Partition Master and MiniTool Partition Wizard. They will erase the partitions, but just stall when creating the new one.
My Nikon d90 will happily format the card to 32gb, but I can't write any data successfully to it. Same with Windows disk management.
I tried 4EXT recovery, and I get a bit further, but it also hangs on creating one of the partitions. I can see that the new partitions in miniTools/Easeus.
What do I do? I'm sure this is a soft error, but how to get the card back in working order?
TLDR; fudged partitions, how to get a working card back?
how bout regenerate da sector bit by bit again, seems like some sector damaged leaving da sd a 'scar' to rewrite data, try using regenerate software such as hdd regenerator or others. but... it ll take some....not some, but much of ur time to wait, but maybe it worth it

Erm, it's flash memory, there can be no 'scars', at least not ones made with software. HDD regenerator is useful for physically damaged hard drives, not flash memory.
In the mean time I used linux fdisk to start from scratch, deleted all partitions, made new ones, used mkfs, etc. Similar results.
I'm trying the official SDCard.org application, it seems like it hanged but it's now reporting 7% done. Will leave it overnight.
Diskpart

Have you tried diskpart, it worked for me recovered a bad card.Run these commands from a command prompt one at a time.
diskpart
list disk
select disk #
clean
create partition primary
select partition 1
active
format quick fs=fat32
assign
exit

Tried it just now and it hanged on formatting, stuck at 0%. Damn.
The official SDCard.org application did finish eventually, and it seemed all was well. I could even copy and read small files, but hanged on bigger (>1mb) ones.
I'm on the verge of giving up and returning the card, which is a hassle as I bought it from the UK.
Have I really damaged the card with partitioning?
This is the fdisk info on the card:
Code:
Disk /dev/sdb: 31.9 GB, 31914983424 bytes
255 heads, 63 sectors/track, 3880 cylinders, total 62333952 sectors
Units = sectors of 1 * 512 = 512 bytes
I/O size (minimum/optimal): 512 bytes / 512 bytes
Disk identifier: 0x00000000
Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System
/dev/sdb1 * 2048 62332927 31165440 6 FAT16
I beg experienced devs to give me some clues.
Is the starting sector ok?
Personally, I'm convinced your card was defective when you bought it.

Well that's the only sensible explanation, but I did use the card for some time in my DSLR. I put at least a few GB on it successfully.
Also it's my second UHS1 card, the first one turned to be defective from the start with the same symptoms
Weird.
Could be a bad batch of chips, or they might be knock-offs.
Or, you're just unlucky

seems so.
I had 16+ microsd cards with no faults whatsoever. Until I wanted a class 10 card.
After this I'm afraid to partition the other cards :crying:
If it was a SanDisk class 10 card, and you bought it off the internet, then it's almost definitely a fake.
Don't be scared to make partitions. Just be aware that most partitioning software will not preserve any data, and that that writing any data to the card shortens it's lifespan. If you trust it more, you can partition your card from within the Advanced menu of your recovery (e.g., CWM).

Well I got it from Amazon UK. It was sold and shipped directly from Amazon, not the Amazon marketplace. Benchmarks were the same as a genuine card (attached). Seemed genuine enough.

I know, it makes no sense. I was thinking that maybe there was some weird block alignment issue or something.

Out of curiosity have you tried to return to amazon? They are very good about it in US, so you usually won't be charged for return shipping.

The first UHS-1 card, yes, very easy to do. This second one, which I have for more than 30 days, not so much. Can't find clear info on returns.
If there's anyone from UK reading this and has experience with Amazon returns, please chime in.

I advise that you go here : http://www.sandisk.com/about-sandisk/contact-us/
(sandisk contact us part of the website)
And contact technical support. tell them you cannot format the card and tested in several devices.
They will send you a semi-automated response, with a link to a form where you need to register the product and you can use their warranty.
There is a product code / serial field. Don't know if it's required for an sdcard.
You should be able to return the product to them, and they'll replace the card,
I have a defective card too, coming from amazon as well.
I think amazon removes the possibility to return a product after a few weeks.
I've been able to return mine to amazon.

[Q] Dead Nexus S, any way to recover data from internal memory??

Hey fellas.
I've got a Nexus S, and it is totally dead. I dont know if I could call it bricked, cause it didnt happen during rooting or flashing roms etc.. It just slowly happened, first sign being that the power button didnt work properly, then after an hour or so with a few manual reboots trying to fix the power button, the phone didnt turn back on again. I've tried almost everything, but the phone wont give a single sign of life, nothing...
So my question for you guys is... is there any hope of reaching the data on my internal memory on the Nexus S? I'm pretty sure that me myself wont be able to do it, but is there anyone who knows something about if there is a way for the "repair shops" to do something about it..?
I know that I can JTAG the phone etc...but that will delete all the data from the card, and I dont want that to happen...
Thank you for suggestions
If the emmc is dead i don't see u having the data back, such an operation will cost u more than the phone and i'm sure no shop will be able to extract ur data expect if u have big money to spend and send it to a specialized company
Best bet ? count ur losses and move on, because even if you want only to fix the phone will run around 100$

Thx for answering .
Well, I dont know if the emmc card is dead or not, the card itself might aswell still be functional and good to go, only that there is something else that is messed up with the phone, like cables, connections or similar... I'm for the moment in a country where it's pretty cheap with repairing stuff, to JTAG the phone costs only about 18 Euro..
But, lets say that the emmc card is totally intact, and that the data is still on it.. arent there any emmc card readers around (I think I've seen one on amazon..), that could read the card then..? If not, shouldnt a repair shop be able to connect some cables or so to the card and extract data?

99% ur emmc is bricked, a shop needs to desolder the emmc and place it on an external programmer to withrdraw the data.
Amazon doesn't carry this type or programmers the emmc is solder on the motherboard
Go ask some shops, they will riff box it / jtag it or they will remove the emmc and read it externaly you don't have any other solutions that u can try yourself.
Please update if a shop replay to u positively about something like this thanks

Mount a detached eMMC from oneplus

Hi gang,
After a car drove over my oneplus and destroyed the CPU, I want to desolder and reball the eMMC in the hopes of recovering the pictures from the first 6 months of my daughter's life. I ordered the eMMC -> microSD board from odroid, and I am about to desolder and reball the eMMC so that I can put it on the odroid board and plug it into my laptop. The tricky part that might make my whole attempt futile, I've been told, is that all phones have their own encrypted partitions that I can't access by simply mounting it as a regular SD. So I figured to ask about this on XDA, where I'm sure someone will have ideas on how to approach this, or tell me authoritatively it's futile. So what's the story, could anyone please provide any insight?
Thanks,
Andrej
did you make it?
