Hello,
I have a broken usb and also the touch is broken....
So I can't get the photos via usb connection on the phone and can't upload photos to skydrive ...
Is there a way to get the micro sd card into the pc and get the photo out of it?
Insert to another phone with microSD or buy a Adapter "microSD to SD".
So with the adapter windows can read the sd?
Going to try it out
Of course!
Sometimes you will need install drivers, but it's no problem.

Warning!
You can't just remove the SD card from your device...If you do, It will be unrecognizable to other devices and PC's, you run the risk of never recovering any of the data on it.
WP7 devices security encrypts the SD card and it has to be unlocked before removing it from the device.
If you do remove the SD card make sure not to turn on your device while the SD card is out of it, otherwise your device won't recognize the SD card anymore either
If your device is Pre-Mango (which I highly doubt) some devices like a Symbian can detect it. If your on Mango/Tango there is no way anything will detect it unless you unlocking the SD card first.
Trust me I found out the hard way when I upgraded mine from 16gb to a 32gb SD card. No device will detect, format or recover any information from it and I've tried several PC's, cameras, phones, Symbian, software programs and even printer stations.
To unlock it you need to install XMod storage unlock cab. With your USB port not working I'm not sure how you'll be able to do it.
Check this tutorial for reference -

Well windows7 doesn't recognize my sd card...
also I can't do anything since the usb on my phone is broken
if you are lucky you enabled wifi sync in zune , if so you can sync with that
if not then you will never get to your data
The touch on the phone stopped working...
Seems it's a go to the trash bin phone...
So it's impossible to recover the data, when u have no phone to do it?
Is there any original wp7 phone with sd card?
That may be used to do it?

no because the sd card is locked to your phone and only your phone.
sorry but I think you will never see your data on your sd card again.
Damn...
This is so so so anoying....
[end of rant]
Sorry for my recent posts.
Why you don't repair phone? Maybe only need to change Touchscreen, also fix charging circuit?
Well, because is super expensive...
Around 100-170€ the fixing it
and I don't know if htc will flash the phone...
Or only saving all data from phone. I think you need only photos/videos? As I know, htc services only change parts or mainboards, they are not fix charging circuit or etc, when phone was broken. If give phone to htc or etc service without warranty, you can say, than they do not flash the phone.
I think, you can give the phone to other service and repair only USB.

HTC will never agree not to wipe the phone, in fact its doubtful anyone will, things happen, sometimes bad things happen, they promise not to delete stuff and something goes wrong, the next thing they have is a law suite
if your replacing the screen try do it yourself, id strongly suggest you replace both the LCD and the digitiser in one go, usually you can buy them combined which is a lot easier to install, replacing the USB socket is a bit harder but equally possible.
you might find a local tech that will can "try" to fix it all without losing everything, but they will never promise to do it.
Hello,

i had this very VERY strange thing happen. On my universal i upgraded it to WM6.1. I was very nervous about bricking my phone at first, but everything went well, and i used my phone for about 6 months. Then all of a sudden, i'm walking down the street one day, and i get a phone call, and my phone decides to turn on the "Low Battery alarm" at the same time i pickup the call...
My phone completely freezes, and so i reboot my phone, and i get this "No SIM card" error. Which, i know there is a SIM card in there, because i didn't take it out, and it was working just fine only 30 seconds prior.
So, i went home, swapped out the SIM card to one of my old SIM cards (a number from a previous city) and viola! No SIM Card error.
Something happened to my phone at that moment in time and just like FRIED my SIM card. So, easy solution, i just go and get a replacement SIM card. Ok , DONE.
....Happy pimpin with my HTC Univeral, right?... WRONG....
At the same time this happened, my SD card slot just seemed to STOP working. Which is really weird. I even tried enabling some system background processes and whatnot, ...basiclly turning EVERY process on. But that still had no effect.
And i can do almost nothing useful with this device now except for make phone calls and do SMS. Having a large brick in my pocket just for phone calls is a bit of an overkill i think.
So , any suggestions? How do i get my SD card working again.
BTW, i'm in china, and every repair shop that i went to REFUSES to touch any HTC phone. There seems to be a massive education gap. But if i had a nokia phone it would be no problem for them....
*sigh* STUPID CHINKS!
*grunts*
any thoughts on how to solve this problem with the SD Card?

Hi welcome to forum and well you can try to flash another rom and see if it works or not.. if it doesn't then might be hardware problem...
i'm downloading the original WM5 ROM now, and will try to reflash it tonight. I really never needed WM6, except for when i was at university (here in china), they had a problem with the CAT5 cabling, and had to redo all of it. And so the entire dorm was out of internet for 1 month. So i used my phone as a WiFi router to share my 3G data connection with my notebook. For some reason, the software would only work properly with WM6... *sigh*....
now i have a 3G Net card for my notebook....hehe
^_^
Details please?
Which ROM?
What SD card?Make?Capacity?
How is battery working?
Did you try ANY other cards?
Did you try formatting it?
Because SD cards getting corrupt is a very comman thing.
I did lost three 4GB SD cards last year and one 8GB SDHC. ( all made in China )
So I know how it feels.
Damaged SIM...it never happened to me.
As a rule in china... NEVER under any circumstances buy anything without a warrenty. HAHA. I've been here for like 4 years. But with that aside...
i can put the same SD card in my computer, and it reads just fine.
I have even changed from formatting it as FAT32 to FAT16, and still it doesn't register.
I have had the same problems with the 4GB cards too. Unless they're really high quality, they're kinda crappy and prone to defect. However, the card(s) that i have are low capacity. 512 MB, and 2 GB. So there wouldn't be any issues with the capacity of them being too large.
Ok, this sucks....when i try to reflash my phone back to WM5,.....it says i have the wrong image ERROR code 100 i think it is.
But i downloaded the Factory image from this forum for WM5.
I have WM6.1 on it now, so....how do i downgrade? Just reflash?
BTW, this is an English Language Version. So that shouldn't be too conflicting.

have a look on the Wiki
Perhaps using the MTTY app can help you
Good luck,
i found the reason why it failed....that rom is not ENGLISH
my SD card dissapered on my UNI when my battery got old. it seems it just didnt have enough power. I put an old SD card in and that works but i got a new battery within a week.
whenever my universal didn't have enough power for the SD card , it would sound the low battery alarm, and then tell me it didn't have enough power for the SD card.
I would think that if i can still run wifi for 40 minutes or so (on a full charge), there should be enough amps in the battery to turn on the SD card....at least...one would think *grin*
Ok, well, i somehow managed to get my phone flashed to WM5......using the German WM5 ROM mind you
It's actually not in german, everything is in english. Anyways, whenever i put an SD card in, it still doesn't show up.
The IO conctroller used in Uni usually never die.
I would suggest you to unmount the device, use a hot air gun on the SD socket connector and nearest different points.
regards
I have a MT3G rooted with CM 4.0.4 using the one click method. I'm getting a new Transcend 8GB Class 6 card. I believe this card come with an adapter to plug into a regular SD slot. To format do I just use my comp to format the card to FAT32? Then load my saved data back to the sd card and load it back into my phone? Is it that easy?
Welcome to forums,
Yes it works that way
lol, yep as orb says
I have the same card (which i will be shortly throwing in the bin due to its unreliablity) and find its better to use the sd adaptor than one of those crappy usb adaptors for micro sd cards (like the sandisk usb adaptor that doesnt work!!)
Just my opinion, but id recomend buying the best make you can when it comes to micro sdhc cards, my transcend one decided to wipe itself clean the other day during a phone call..... a sure warning that its on its way out....
Lost all my music, photos blah blah..... (didnt back it up either tut tut...)
Flash Format is the best way, imo. I've had corruptions before where my pc and fuze couldn't sse the card, but flash format was able to re-format. The demo works fine, and the app costs about 10 bucks. I've had major problems with my 16 g sandisk, but think I figured out how to keep it healthy. Quick tips: 1 Set all default downloads a nd save paths and whatnot to main memory, including PIE cache. 2 Put any apps you use a lot or especially that run continuously (don't forget services) on main memory. 3 Do not put Finger Keyboard on your card, lol. The instructions tell you not to, but this is not a challengr to do it anyway. Guaranteed corruption. Trust me, I did it cuz I'm an idiot. 4 If you use a disk scanner/repairer, and it finds problems, don't just delete the recovered (and messed up files). Open them with notepad, and see what they are. This will give you an idea of the corruption source.
My notebook is not picking up the sd card with adapter? I have a slot on my notebook, I thought it was bad contact, cleaned it and still nothing? WTF!!
timmymarsh: This is a subjective topic in terms of SD card, I looked and everybody recommended Transcend, its even on a list of recommended cards by TMobile?? I guess I'll find out? Do you have a recommendation?
FarmerTed: Flash format say nothing about being compatible for android os? I don't know if it will work?
why dont you just put the sd card into you phone. mount the sd card via usb and format it from there?
I tried that, but my notebook says theres nothing? I also tried just installing the new card and trying to format it with the phone. I formated the card, but it said the card is damaged and it wont do anything? So either the card is just not getting recognized or it is bad? I'll keep tinkering with, if it doesnt work, I'll send it back to newegg.

Oops, sorry, didn't realize you were on android. All I can suggest is searching for a similar app that runs on android, or maybe looking for undelete programs for your desktop. There's probably something out there that will fix your card.

Yh it is subjective and i dont know about recommendations, but im going to think about sandisk, im just very cautious about transcend card after it wiping itself....
I haven't searched but saying that I've never seen anything like this on Desire or Sensation threads before.
I went to copy something over to the phone (using Windoze Explorer) and when I looked at the contents. I saw the attached. The phone, when I use Root Explorer, and PC agree :-((
For reference I've used Linux, PC (Explorer) and ADB 100% to copy files over successfully before, so no posts about using one or not using one.
All the Filenames etc. have been completely screwed up. Looks like they've been converted to DOS 8.3 format.
I have never ever seen this before. I think I must have run something on the PC when the phone was USB connected. It's about the only thing I can think of, the phone/SD Card/ROM have been 100% reliable so far.
LUCKILY, I made a rare backup of my SD Card yesterday. I usually remember to make one once in a blue moon.
All I can think is to recommend folks to disconnect the USB drive when not needed and do Backups (of the Phone and also the SD Card).
Anyone seen this before ??
sorry to say this to you but your memory card has gone corrupted.
i know this because this has happened to me alot of times.
this happens if you use unbranded memory cards but this also happens to branded memory card.
the only solution i can give to you is buy a new memory card. and the main reason this happen when you connect your phone to your pc/laptop and use it as diskdrive and take the wire out while transferring data.
the only way to prevent is to use a safe remove usb and than change your diskdrive to charge only and wait till everything is loaded and then disconnect your usb wire.
also if you fornat your memory card it will work but i can tell you this that this willhappen again and this could happen without connecting your phone to computer. so to only prevent data loss buy a good new memory card.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I'm 99.8% sure it still works and he doesn't have to buy a new memory card yet .. I don't know where you get the idea that his memory card is completely dead! It looks like he still has his files, there's just all that junk in there! Worse comes to worst, he has to reformat it which I think may not even be necessary
Anyway, I've had a similar situation as yours and "repairing it" fixed those issues up. I didn't even reformat it, just repaired it. Try that! (Assuming you haven't already reformatted it anyway)

Update:
Card is fine. Just the filenames/pathnames got screwed.
As I said luckily I had done a backup of it yesterday, only by accident. I mounted the card on the PC directly (USB adapter) and deleted / copied stuff back.
It must have been something on my PC I ran as it changed the filenames/pathnames to 8.3. I did run something (can't remember the name) as I had problems doing the copy (SD Card to PC) for the backup. A few (4 if I remember) files were too long, exceeded the 255 limit. I D/L something to see what was the issue, turned out to be some book preview I'd accidently down loaded from the market.
All good and working now....
As I said just a warning that **** on the PC can screw the SD Card on the phone.
Backups (Nandroid and SD Card) are a pain but can be life savers.

i don't mean that he should buy a new memroy card because after formating/repairing it the memroy card will work but this corruption can happen again. if this happens again the onl;y thing he can do is buy another memroy card. this has hapened to my unbranded memroy card which was 16 gb class 10 and it happened atleast 5-6 times. since i couldn't take another corruption i have ordeered class 10 32gb lexar memory card which is working fine and its hasn't gave me any problem since i've been using it
Man that's what happened to one of my other 4 gb cards I don't use anymore. It was kinda funny. I ended up reformatting it, but an odd thing has happened... 3gbs went down to 1.7gbs... I can't even access the remaining 2gbs... no matter what I've tried.
I didn't buy a new card since it works just fine. Been using it as a "mini" file storage card for 4 months and no issues yet. =D
You sure everythings fine? A lot of files on that card read "0KB" which is definitely not a good thing.
Best of luck.
Anyone with any issues with an SD card should first attempt a low level format.
I'll leave you all to Google that one.

It's fine.
Just that something I used, never used it before, to check filename/pathname lengths (due to FAT issues), seems to have converted everything to DOS 8.3 format. The ones that didn't conform to that were created after a phone re-boot.
This was only as a warning that **** does happen and backups, while a pain in the arse to do, can save a load of pain.
Off to try some ICS ROMs now so expecting a load more pain, d/l, CWM, Wipe, Swear, revert back to CM7. ;-)))) Just need to make sure that nothing updates my HBOOT..
Try .. A Full format of the SD Card
You need to do a Full format and wipe of the SD Card .. I have " fixed" a few this way.
I use: HP USB Disk Storage Format Tool - Seems to work for me
Hey fellas.
I've got a Nexus S, and it is totally dead. I dont know if I could call it bricked, cause it didnt happen during rooting or flashing roms etc.. It just slowly happened, first sign being that the power button didnt work properly, then after an hour or so with a few manual reboots trying to fix the power button, the phone didnt turn back on again. I've tried almost everything, but the phone wont give a single sign of life, nothing...
So my question for you guys is... is there any hope of reaching the data on my internal memory on the Nexus S? I'm pretty sure that me myself wont be able to do it, but is there anyone who knows something about if there is a way for the "repair shops" to do something about it..?
I know that I can JTAG the phone etc...but that will delete all the data from the card, and I dont want that to happen...
Thank you for suggestions
If the emmc is dead i don't see u having the data back, such an operation will cost u more than the phone and i'm sure no shop will be able to extract ur data expect if u have big money to spend and send it to a specialized company
Best bet ? count ur losses and move on, because even if you want only to fix the phone will run around 100$

Thx for answering .
Well, I dont know if the emmc card is dead or not, the card itself might aswell still be functional and good to go, only that there is something else that is messed up with the phone, like cables, connections or similar... I'm for the moment in a country where it's pretty cheap with repairing stuff, to JTAG the phone costs only about 18 Euro..
But, lets say that the emmc card is totally intact, and that the data is still on it.. arent there any emmc card readers around (I think I've seen one on amazon..), that could read the card then..? If not, shouldnt a repair shop be able to connect some cables or so to the card and extract data?

99% ur emmc is bricked, a shop needs to desolder the emmc and place it on an external programmer to withrdraw the data.
Amazon doesn't carry this type or programmers the emmc is solder on the motherboard
Go ask some shops, they will riff box it / jtag it or they will remove the emmc and read it externaly you don't have any other solutions that u can try yourself.
Please update if a shop replay to u positively about something like this thanks
Here I try to revive a cold dead Galaxy S3 SCH-I535.
This phone is in beautiful shape. The water damage mark is white background with clear red x marks. I put in a fully charged good battery. No response. I plug in the ac power cord, still nothing.
The previous owner said he was trying to reset the phone via Odin (odd, since better to do soft reset from the phone). Then Odin failed and the phone won't power up again. I believe him 90%.
Anything I can do to try to revive it? Otherwise, I may have to replace the mainboard. If I do replace the mainboard, which mainboards can I use? I have a bad Sprint S2 with a bad LCD, but I do not think I can use that since Sprint does not use a SIM slot.
You'll probably want to do this debrick method. Just a couple things, when you plug it into your computer what does it pop up as? If the person did in fact brick the phone via Odin, the linked video requires you to do this in a Linux environment. So you can either boot off a CD or use Linux if you're already set up. Lastly, you need to have a class 10 microsd card that is the exact same size as your phone's internal storage. I haven't done this personally but it's been done Sprint (linked in video) and was brought over to the Verizon GSIII (also linked in video) so it is possible. Best of luck.

The phone is totally dead, no life at all. So I think the mainboard is dead. This is what he said:
I was restoring phones software to sell with Samsung Odin program and it just went blank. I tried to reload software but I can't get it to work
I've seen some videos on replacing the mainboard. I think that is still easier than replacing the LCD. I may have to stick with the same model.

If he used odin and broke it, it isn't totally dead, just means corrupt files in the boards main memory to run the phone. This can be fixed. Totally dead would be more along the lines of dropping your phone in a pool and frying the entire board.
Plug it into the wall with the battery out, if the red light comes on you can fix it two different ways:
1. Video snoop posted, following the exact instructions.
2. Jtag repair, costs around $60.

This is great. After I removed the battery and plugged the wall charger to it, the red light comes on! So it is not totally dead.
Also, after I plugged it into my Win7-64 machine, it shows as "QHSUSB_DLOAD" device. There are some posts about this already on the almost dead Android devices.
I'll do more research and maybe this phone can be revived. I thought it was totally dead since none of the lights turn on.
Thanks the great folks here.
Where to Find emmc dump?
Do you folks know where I can find the "emmc dump" for this phone? So I can use it to debrick my S3? Thanks.

Got it.
I gave it a first try and it did not work. Part of the reason is that I could not follow the direction 100%.
I used a Sandisk 32GB microUSB. I may need a 16GB drive. Also, the card does not say it is class 10.
Then my old card is crappy and I could not use it. So I used a GE camera and used the camera as a card reader. I have no problem getting the SD card recognized under ubuntu.
I copied the the disk image to the SD drive as directed. It sees 23 partitions. However, when I put in the SD card in my desktop, I only see one partition, which is about 64MB. I do not know if this is normal.
I'll try to get a class 10 16GB and a good card reader to go with it.

You definitely need the specific class 10 sd card that matches your internal memory and follow the directions exactly. You'll get it though, sounds like you're persistent enough.
The idea behind it is tricking your phone into thinking that card is your internal memory, it won't work without the size being the same.

I'll keep it trying to see how it goes. Thx for the help.
I do not know if the debrick.img method really works. I've watched the video from this Verizon forum, but he never showed the phone, not the computer screen, but just talking. I've heard some other folks (Sprint, etc.,) get it work. But I just do not know....
I've got a new card reader and a Class 10 16GB micro SD card. I followed the procedure precisely. But the phone is still cold, 95% dead. When I mounted the SD card under Linux, it complains about the corrupt GPT table. I ran "parted" command (as directed), but the command blew up and never completed. Many other folks did not even mention parted command.
I'm puzzled..... Does it really work?

Hi
Follow the instructions in this video exactly, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dU5H8NJ7vTM&hd=1
chances are you can repair yourself. Here is OP http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2504066
Good luck
I watched that video and followed the steps exactly. But it is still no-go.
Also, in that video, the OP never showed any phone, or any of his work. He only claimed in the forum that his phone vibrated. I sent him PM twice, but never any response. It appears the OP is into iPhone more recently.
I also PM'ed other two folks who claimed this worked, at other forums here. But again, never any response. So I do not know if this method really works.
If anyone can get it work, I'd be happy to send my MB to him/her and pay the postage.
Just made the mistake of flashing the firmware for a Sprint SGS3 to my Verizon SGS3 (not modem, just sbl, rpm and tz). I'm hoping this YouTube tutorial will fix my situation.
Anyone know if there's a way to manually push those files to the SGS3? The device is completely dead, except the red light does come on when plugging into the wall without the battery.

That XDA link seems to be broken (Chrome / Mac)
This is exactly what is happening with my I535. I was never able to boot the phone with the SD card. Some folks claim this procedure works, but I've never been able to get anyone to confirm with me. I believe some of them just have soft bricked phone.
I've pretty much given up on it. Swapping mainboard is not that expensive....
