I've TWRP installed. After downloading OTA, instead of installing it boots into twrp. Any suggestions on how to install?
There is another thread going on about this here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-one/help/tried-downloading-installed-yog4pasn0-t3189901
To summarize, TWRP won't work to update via the OTA and you need the stock recovery for it. Or try this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-one/development/rom-cyanogen-os-12-1-t3186593 (I'm going to give this one a try myself)

So I have been trying to figure out a solution to my issue but I figured that I would bring it together in a single post.
I have a 2.20 HOX with TWRP installed. I am rooted. I am wanting to install the 4.1 OTA update but whenever it goes to reboot into recovery it goes into TWRP and does nothing.
Now, I have found directions from people installing the OTA with TWRP installed but I am not wanting to do a complete wipe. I am wanting to only upgrade and keep what I have on my phone.
My question is simple:
Is there any way that I can do that with having TWRP installed or is my only option to do a clean install?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks will be given!

But in a noobie's honest opinion, its not worth the effort for the OTA , there are better custom roms in the forums here for the HOX than what you get from the update.
I tried all day yesterday then a dev helped me with the answer, you can't OTA update with TWRP installed
use this post in the link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2181849&page=2
Redpoint73 gave me the right answer to get it done
"""It should be like this:
1) RUU to stock 2.20
2) Download and install OTA
3) Unlock bootloader
4) Install TWRP
5) For root: using TWRP, flash SuperSU
Steps 2 and 3 might be interchangeable""".
Hi,
I was on a rooted Oneplus One having the TWRP recovery. I got the notification for the latest Incremental OTA ZNH2KAS254 update. I know that its not possible to install this incremental update if you are rooted and are using TWRP as your recovery. I read some of the posts and it was suggested there to unroot the phone, install the stock recovery and then try to install the OTA. I downloaded the stock cyanogen recovery and flashed it, which removed the TWRP recovery. I then unrooted my phone using the option in the SuperSU app.
Now i have an OPO which is having stock recovery and is unrooted. When i try to install this incremental update, i am not able to get through. The update goes through the installation process and ends up booting in the stock recovery with an exclamation mark on the cyanogen robot. I then decided to factory reset the OPO completely by wiping everything that was there on the phone.
Even then i am not able to install the incremental OTA and land up with the same error as mentioned above.
What am i doing wrong? Could someone please help and let me know how to get this incremental update installed? I would also like to install TWRP and root the device once i am done installing the incremental OTA.
Cheers,
Gokul
You're in the OPX section. You have OnePlus One, right?
A mod can move it?
If you are on Oxygen OS, I think you have to flash the full rom zip disponible here :
https://forums.oneplus.net/threads/oxygenos-2-1-4-for-the-oneplus-one.425544/
If Cyanogen, I don't know.

Unrooting your phone won't help. You have to flash latest signed zip (if available).

Saurav,
Thanks for your message.
Since i do not have TWRP installed, i believe i would have to flash the latest signed zip using ADB. Am i right?
Secondly, would it be possible for me to flash the TWRP zip using stock recovery?
Cheers,
Gokul

Yes, you can sideload latest signed zip or can even flash from stock recovery.
So I'm having an issue with updating my phone.
I have tried reading all of the threads, but so many things are still a mystery and are confusing. I haven't been able to get a full understanding of all of this.
I have a LG G5 H830 10a T-Mobile variant.
I am running Android 6.0.1
I have a custom recovery of TWRP
My phone is rooted with SuperSU also.
All I want to do, is to update my phone to Nougat. What is the process I have to go through? After reading all about it, here is my assumption:
I download Flashfire and use DisableService to disable my root and SuperSu, then I run the OTA Nougat update...
That didn't work. I got an error from TWRP that said:
"unable to flash update.zip from cache/update.zip, update is meant for "h1" device, your device is an H830"
Or something along those lines.
I have a Nandroid backup, so I'm not worried if I brick or soft brick it.
Any help please?
Thanks!

You're not going to be able to update to Android N yet if you want to keep twrp and root. Only way to do it currently is if you have 100% stock phone and update via ota or using the zip file that was posted. If you don't care about root or twrp, update to 10j using the complete zip that autoprime posted and don't install SuperSU or dm-verity and let boot. You will have 100% stock and can take ota or use zip method. *** There is no current way to get root or twrp for t mobile version once on official android N yet *** So if root and twrp are important just wait until autoprime gets a chance to upload the flashable zip files for N to flash in twrp. You could also use cm or cm based Roms if you want android N, plus those are 7.1 stock is only 7.0, but if you want stock rooted just have to wait until it's released.

Ohh okay, perfect thank you!
With that in mind, I had another question..
I have an LG V20 as well.
One thing I was thinking of doing was the following:
Unlocking the bootloader, putting a custom recovery like TWRP on it.
Make a Nandroid backup.
Then root it, and then go about my business. If something like this happens again and I want to update, I can simply do a Titanium Backup go to my Nandroid backup, restore it. Then update OTA, then reroot, run titanium backup restore, and then I'll be back where I left off.
will that work?
And one last question:
How would I go back to factory settings on my LG G5?

I'm not 100% sure but I don't think that would work as once you install twrp it modifies the recovery. IMG which would cause ota to fail. But on the other hand, you could most likely do the same method as the g5 to go back to official and take ota. Flashing the complete zip (if those are being created for the v20, haven't checked that thread as I don't own that device) and not re-installing the dm-verity or SuperSU will always reinstall the original boot.img and recovery.img and be 100% official stock. Hope this helps.

Hello all.
I think it's all in the title. I am on L29C432B560, with root and TWRP installed.
Recently, I got the OTA notification for B581. But when I tried it, the system dowloaded the package, then rebooted to recovery. Except my recovery is TWRP, and won't auto-install the package.
Could I just use fastboot to re-flash stock recovery, OTA update, and maybe re-root with magisk ?
If yes, where to download the stock recovery for nougat ? I've been searching for 2 hours, but it seems my google-fu isn't strong enough :/
Alternatively, any suggestion is welcome as to the best way to go from rooted b560 with TWRP to b581 ...
Thanks in advance for your help !
Aaaaaand I just found it.
There seems to be something magical with me, where I look for something for 2 hours, then decide to ask for help, and figure out the solution 5 minutes later.
I just needed to use HuaweiUpdateExtractor to get the recovery.img file from a full b 560 update. After that I flashed it with fastboot, and the OTA .... well, the OTA failed. But it got through to standard recovery and started.
@kaceps
Here the stock recovery of your firmware.
Hello there.
I unlocked my bootloader a long while ago, then flashed TWRP on my TW U11+. Now recently I have seen that there's an update and I get the popup from my updater.apk on my HTC U11+.
My phone is on 1.24.709.7 update. And it's I think most definitely the ASIA_TW version.
Mid - 2Q4D10000
Cid - HTC__621
So I try to update but of course fail because my recovery was TWRP so of course that it did not work. Then I hear that you need to have stock recovery, so what I do is I get stock recovery.img, go to download mode and flash it through the command "flashboot flash recovery recovery.img. I get the success command and I reboot and try download the OTA once again, then I try to update it. It does go to stock recovery but then it "updates" til 25% and then it's stuck. Then after like 10 seconds it just simply gives my this Red Triangle with an exclamation mark in the middle of it. So I press power button and vol down to get off that mode and that's it. It won't update to the newest OTA.
I flashed 1.24.709.7 recovery at first. It didn't work then I flashed 1.24.709.8 recovery but still no avail.
Can you guys please help me? I really don't know what I am doing wrong.
Thanks in advance
I am having the exact same problem. I wish I had the HTC__621 recovery, but I haven't been able to find the correct one.
Hopefully somebody will see this. Every link that looks like the right thing is dead.
Same problem
I had the same problem, too.
But I find a way to update to 1.24.709.8.
That is: I decide to flash the 1.24.709.8 version's RUU .
Hope this can help you.
U11+ All TW version's image and OTA :
//drive.google.com/drive/folders/1kNE8rN8yUBPo9vux9G3CMvUzg3cg0lQ3
Thanks for the link.
However the problem that I'm experiencing is that whenever I flash either 1.24.709.7 or 1.24.709.8 RUU. It just won't flash over fastboot. So what I do is I put it on my SD card then put the file and rename it to like 2Q4DIMG.zip and go to recovery and still won't flash it correctly.
I'll try it again today to see what error code I get from it.
Did you unlocked or rooted your u11+?
Sorry for the late reply man.
My HTC u11plus is unlocked and I also have rooted my phone via magisk.
You can't update with official ota if unlocked, you need to relock and have the stock recovery. Relock will wipe your data I think
You can OTA with unlock, but you must run pure stock ROM. I RUU my phone and successfully apply the OTA.
Magisk did modify /boot partition so OTA wont apply with Magisk. You have to restore stock boot, OTA, then patch the boot again to preserve Magisk. Also if you use 3rd party recovery you have to restore the stock one.
All partition image can be found in the RUU with https://forum.xda-developers.com/chef-central/android/tool-universal-htc-ruu-rom-decryption-t3382928 but you must make sure you flash the version match your current system. If not the only way might be RUU your phone.
I have also had the exact same issue with updating the latest OTA update. I have TW model, it was unlocked and rooted with magisk. I relocked bootloader, stock boot img and still the update wouldn't install. I even tried flashing 1.24.709.7 RUU in downloader mode but failed remote: 22 RU_HEADER_ERROR.
Would love any ideas or help.
*UPDATE*
Finally was able to update to 1.24.709.8 OTA. I needed up unlocking the bootloader again, then downloaded the 1.24.709.7 full image from
drive.google.com/drive/folders/1kNE8rN8yUBPo9vux9G3CMvUzg3cg0lQ3
Extracted the rar file and manually installed the boot, recovery and system images separately and rebooted. Downloaded the update and installed, everything worked sweet!!

Thank you very much for this. I will try this tomorrow or something.
I will post my results here.
Btw is there any update for Emea region? They did one a month ago for TW models and since then no words about Europe and Middle East
Does anyone have a link to 1.24.401.7 9.0_CL1010171 ? I'm trying to find stock recovery that matches with stock rom and can't find it anywhere.
Magisk and TWRP installed at the moment.
I've got stock boot.img backed up before installing Magisk but there was no way to boot (without flashing) TWRP in order to backup stock recovery that came with U11+.
Cheers
