Been looking around for a while now trying to figure out what the problem is. I have the EE variant of the G920F galaxy s6 in the UK. At least once a day the phone will reboot for no apparent reason what so ever. This has been since the 5.1.1 update, I have factory reset and cleared cache and it still happens. Anyone got any ideas? Thinking of flashing the international software to see if it happens with that.

There's something about optimisation in settings, to reboot at certain times or conditions. Just check that this isn't the case.

Yeah already had, under backup & reset, it's not checked. It restarted today when I tried to launch the camera from the lockscreen.

I suggest you try debranding the phone.
Install the unbranded stock firmware.
It usually has fewer bugs, and is gauranteed to get faster updates.

Yep. Did that yesterday and it has restarted twice, it restarted today also just. Stuck as to what to do, I took it to the Samsung service center near me and all they did was re flash the phone... Starting to really get on my nerves.

I just picked up a bad esn sprint phone. Its pure stock, locked bootloader and all. I did a couple factory resets. And cant for the life of me figure out whats causing the lag. For a minute or two after boot its tolerable app drawer speed but whenever I open something (any app at all) it will hang anywhere from 5-30 seconds. Then once the app opens it will hang up again. Sometimes popping up the not responding wait or force close box. I hit wait and almost instantly its useable but laggy. Anyone have any ideas

No working pc at the moment. And why should you need to reflash the image on a factory unrooted device. It seems after i clear memory with clean master it speeds right up again for 15-20 minutes. It gets down to 11% available memory. I don't have really anything installed except xda and some tools. My hope for this phone is to try and learn how to port a ROM and want this phone to run smooth pure stock before i start so if it has a lag when i port i will know its my fault. And when flashing stock image can i downgrade without any issues

Factory images are one of the best sources to start afresh. Flashing a factory image (4.1.2 in this case) will wipe EVERYTHING and you will be able check if the lag is still present.
And since, you are working on porting a new ROM which I thing is > 4.1.2, you will not face any downgrading issues.
Anybody else having issues receiving the latest OTA released today? I've tried 3 times now with it returning an error on the recovery screen and when it boots back into the OS it says the update failed with no explanation.
Mine worked first try. Software update complete. It even mentioned making sure to charge the battery as the update may have drained it...
Mine worked Ok. How much memory do you have remaining free? Maybe that is an issue...?
New firmware update huh? I have not gotten my notifcation yet. I'll do a manual check, but I'm stll on the default OGJ firmware and modem.

4.01 GB free and the funny thing is I actually just did a fresh restore using the previous AOJ2 firmware via ODIN and I used the PIT file as well. I'm gonna try again and see what happens in a moment.
Manually checked for the update. Went without any hiccups.

Have you disabled anything that could be causing a conflict? If not, I'd do the FDR and then try again.
Good luck.

On a couple of other devices I had, I had stuff disabled and that was the cause of the OTA failure. I currently used the debloater on my Note 5 to disable/hide a bunch of stuff. I will try to re-enable all those, and then try the update.

I don't see any changes as to what we interact with, but new Android security patches and does have a new kernel with a different date, not sure if anything changed on the internals of it. Have new entry in about device of android security patches and November 1st date.

Just an update I also had alot of apps disabled as well and re-enabling them did not fix the issue. I had to install samsung smart switch on my pc and do the update manually and it worked with no factory data reset which was optimal because transferring my music collection via MTP is a pain in the a$$. I will post the firmware if anyone needs it, but there is also a firmware thread that should be updated momentarily.
Android security patch = hogwash
They are just making it harder to achieve root. ?

Did my update over lte.
I noticed major lag for like a couple hours after. Now it works smoother and it seems like my standby drain is fixed. 11% in 7 hours with 45mins SOT.

As these updates are often specific to carriers, I'd be surprised if the installer did not look for the sim card to absolutely verify carrier. Just my guess. Good luck.
Didn't work. I think I need a Verizon sim
I wonder if you can get a hold of an old non-working Verizon sim and see if it works. If so, you can just switch them out any time you want to update. Try eBay or something.

I have a stock 5.1.1 note 5 that has had some signal problems for awhile now and I don't know if it's hardware or software, the problems are :
Hotspot not appearing on other devices from the Android phone.
If device loses signal, does not regain signal until it is powered off and back on again (soft reboot does not fix it)
Like I said I'd greatly appreciate if anybody could answer.
Q/A
Q: Do you have thetering in your data plan?
A: Yes
Q: Are you Rooted?
A: No, already have a rooted nexus 5

Thanks Jammol for responding, since the phone is not entirely mine, but a family member's, I'd like to leave factory reset as a last resort, I need some help fixing this issue because the owner is paying for a service that cannot be used due to the phone having problems, to clarify, the phone's problem is that the Hotspot Sharing from the Note 5 is not showing up on other phones, but on the note 5s end it shows that it is clearly turned on, tried it on a Samsung Galaxy s6 and a Nexus 5 one running 5.1.1 and the other running marshmallow custom vanilla rom, the Galaxy s6 is stock, I need some help with this if possible

That sounds like both a hardware and software issue. You most likely have to try a factory reset first and if that doesn't solve it, warranty replacement time.

My SM-N915FY reboots appx. 10 times per day. It's a stock phone, no root so no custom roms or mods. I had this phone since 5.1.1 and the phone is now at 6.0.1 patch level 1 from June 1, 2016. All upgrades have been done automatically OTA by either Samsung or my provider. It's been rebooting ever since i have it.
Questions:
- Anybody else having this problem?
- Is there a way to find out what i causing the reboots?
- If i root my phone, would i be able to troubleshoot this better?
- In case i root my device, is there a list of Samsung bloatware that is know to be safe to remove? My aim is to remove everything that might cause these reboots.
Thanks,
Ton.

Hi...
Have you tried factory resetting the phone from recovery. This solves a host of problems usually accompanied with OTA updates...Ensure you make a back up of your data...before doing this.

Flashing a Custom ROM is easy. The tricky part is rooting and installing custom recovery. Since you are already on the latest Android version, you can disable any app that is causing battery drain..after rooting. Here is a useful guide...

BTW, after the factory reset the phone keeps rebooting itself.... Problem still exists.

Well I am in the same boat with my edge. I am currently using it as a remote! I have booted into safe mode...nothing. Wiped the cache and hard reset it twice. I have never rooted a phone but it seems like that will be my only option. It doesn't seem that easy to do. How do you find the roms that work with your phone?

You can find ROMs in the Galaxy Note Edge section of this forum. I changed my Note Edge for a Galaxy J7 and it's faster, more modern and has a battery life 10 times longer than my Note Edge. Ah, and no reboots.
No more Note Edge for me.
Hey, XDA-ers!
I got the Android Nougat 7.0 update for my Samsung Galaxy S7 SM-G930FD (DUOS) back in January if I remember correctly. And the update process went like how it normally does. But ever since I got the Nougat update, my phone restarts randomly for no reason. At first it used to restart when I click on the 'Recent Apps' button to switch between apps. When I tap on the button, the phone vibrates and restarts. The phone never over heated before this happens. During this, the phone used to restart 2-3 times a day. This went on for 2 months. Then now, the number of restarts reduced to 1-2 per day, but the problem still persists. And now, it restarts even when I don't touch the 'Recent Apps' button. So, if any of you has had a similar experience or if any of you could help me out Please share it here. It would be GREAT!
Also just one more thing- Any of you seen any DRASTIC or worse changes in battery life of your Galaxy S7 after the Android Nougat 7.0 update? Please share your thoughts here and do suggest how you solved the problem. (My battery drains so fast that I sometimes charge it twice a day. I don't even use my phone for half of the day because I'll be at school and still the battery drain is bad! )
Factory reset. Backup your data via kies and then reset it.
Change your battery
What firmware version are you running? There's at least one version of Nougat that has issues with this

Possibly. I can vouch for it being fixed on DQCF onwards, which is newer than DQC4. The temporary fix seems to be to use as little RAM as possible(try to cut down on background apps until the next update). That firmware isn't terribly old though. I would actually agree with trying a reflash first.

I think it is also possible to reinstall the same firmware with Smart Switch from the menu "Emergency Software Recovery and Initialisation". It's like Odin but much simpler especially for beginners. As for me, I am still in DQBO and I await the update DQD7 which is beginning to be deployed in some countries. If this is not going to solve the problem, I will try to reinstall the fimware with Smart Switch. What do you think ?

If it's restarting due to the firmware bug then DQD7 will most definitely fix it. Beware of the emergency recovery though. Ive not used Smart Switch but the "initialization" part sounds like it would wipe the device, though that could fix any issues. Backup first, if you can.
