Apps pause updating while screen is off? - Xperia Z3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

(Stock Android 5.1.1)
For some reason I'm not able to update apps while the screen is off anymore?, has something happened or changed to the app store?
I have checked in wifi advanced settings and it is set to 'Always' keep wifi on during sleep, I can receive email notifications via wifi while the phone is asleep, anyone have this issue?
edit -
With the phone is plugged into the charger it seems to be able to update the apps fine while the screen is off :-\

Stamina mode is active?????
Is the answer is yes, add play store to exception list.
Sorry my English bro.....

No stamina mode isn't active, I've also asked my home forum and although nobody has a solution a lot of people have started to notice this issue across different devices so I'm wondering if this is an issue with the Google play store?

[APP] zleepZz - Save battery without waking up

Hi Everybody!
I'd like to share my app that I've developed first of all for myself.
zleepZz automatically turns off features of your Android device to save battery life and disable all incoming calls, messages and emails during the night. When you go sleep, simply place your Android device face down to enable zleepZz. When you wake up, flip your phone back over to disable zleepZz.
More detailed the app just turn off WiFi, Mobile Data as well as switch to silent mode, once you flip phone or wake up time came, all these settings come to last state.
Thank you and please, let me know if there are something else you'd like to add or fix in the app.
p.s. Usually I am reader on the xda, cannot post link. zleepZz is available on Google Play, simply search for it. Thank you.
looks promising, one thing, does it remains active the whole day?
i mean, you have a important meeting at work, dont want to be interrupted by phone, you flip it face down and zleepzz starts?

Well. Currently it works only at period of time you set. So if your meeting not at set time, it will not work. But its good idea, you mentioned. I will think about it.
Thank you.

"OK Google" MIA

Just now I've noticed my Google Now mic went hollow which indicates I have Google Now hotword detection turned off. The thing is, I have never messed with any Google Now settings. I tried unchecking and checking the hotword detection with no avail. I finally rebooted my phone and it came back to normal. Has anyone else experienced this?

that would be a google server issue.
Also if the mic or speaker are actively being used it will turn hollow as to not disrupt itself.
I've experienced this too, and a reboot fixed it

Do you have anything switched on in the accessibility option in settings? something like Light flow, or any thing that uses notifications? I had this same issue and it was a notification to pc mirroring app that was ticked "On" in accessibility.
I just looked and I have light flow installed but it was turned off in the accessibility section. So I'm not too sure.

I get this same issue frequently usually after listening to music via Bluetooth and it never resolves until I've done a reboot.

mine disappears with nova launcher; switch back to gel and it is back
it needs language settings to English (US) to make the ok google now hot word detection work

Alarm doesn't go off

Most of the days, my morning alarm doesn't go off. The alarms during the day are ok, but when I'm sleeping in bed doesn't work. Always with AOD off and do not disturb (programmed) on.
Anyone else experiencing? Any solution?

One time only - last week - my morning alarm (is set fro Mon-Fri at same time) just buzzed for half a second then stopped by itself. Never happened before or since, but a bit worrying that I'm already starting to see some bugs with my S3 - as my notifications about new emails now only work intermittently
My alarm also is no longer working reliably. I can test it and it works. I set my Gear S3 into do not disturb mode before going to bed and then the alarm never goes off at the set time in the morning. I have tried both auto scheduled do not disturb mode and manual do not disturb and alarm fails to work in both. For the first month I never had an issue.
Come on Samsung! This is the most basic feature. Smart Watch??
Same here. The only way I can get alarm to work is if it is running in the background the app that is that I open it to make sure it's running before I go to bed then it would work for me.
Same here gutted the vibrate only function is one of the main features I use. Got in trouble with the boss due to this watch lol. Hopefully it something fixable via firmware update.

Yes, should be fixed soon, the problem is that Samsung support is awfull! I have tried to report this and some other (proved) bugs and they always respond with: restart your device, reset to factory default, etc. And if it doesnt work, send it to technical repair! They should listen their customer and look/check bugs in forums like this also...

Hi all, I had the same issue. Updated the alarm app to 1.0.28, still the issue. Then I read a comment from someone that it could be a conflict with watchfaces that are not Samsung original (stock). And indeed I had installed a purchased watchface a few weeks back when the problem started. Tried switching back to a Samsung stock watchface before going to bed, and for the last 3-4 mornings, alarm has been working fine!
So I can't say for sure it's the issue, but in my case, the non-original Samsung watchface seems to conflict with the alarm function. Back to Sansung face for the night and the bug is fixed. I hope this can help others!
Happy Easter

Notification bar auto hiding since update

This morning, my phone updated to 39.2.A.0.417, and since then, I've noticed that when on the home screen (and only the home screen I believe) the notification bar at the top seems to auto hide. This was not something it was previously set to, and I'm not even aware of a setting anywhere that does this.
Now, I've had a look through the settings to see if I missed something, and I can't see anything anywhere. So what I would like to know is if this has happened to anyone else? If so, how did you rectify it? If it does have a setting somewhere, where can I find it?
I'm finding this immensely annoying having to pull the notification bar down constantly.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

I actually tried half you advice, and just cleared the cache for the Home app. Just to save me the hassle of resetting up my home pages (lazy). Turns out that it was just something in the cache that screwed it up!
Completely forgot to even consider that as an option until your post. So thank you!

OK Google not working... Anywhere!

I know it's not supposed to work from a locked phone, but I can't get it to work with the screen on even. Any clues what could be wrong? I do have the bxactions app installed and using the Bixby button for Google now, but I doubt think that's the culprit. I've also postponed the first tmobile system update but it worked when I first got the phone. Suggestions?

Mine suddenly stopped working too. It could be the recent google app update that broke it, I remember getting that update. I retrained my voice again and so far so good.
Same problem here. Restarting seems to fix mine for awhile but something is causing it to glitch out and stop working.
Edit: seems to stop working whenever I open the camera, then it's stuffed until reboot.
After reinstalling google now working fine
Haven't had any issues with mine, even after the last update. Was using one of the Bye Bixby apps and had the button remapped to flashlight but uninstalled it due to the horrible lag the app produced.
It seems to be a problem with power saving mode. The mic stops working after turning on the power saver mode. Restarting the phone will F fix the problem.

Sorry . I am not aware of what you are experiencing. I haven't tried that. But while turning on and turning off power saving mode disables ok google detection.

No. Ok google doesn't work until lock screen is displayed.
is there any update to this?
for me ok google works for while, then stops working and a reboot is the only way to fix it. only annoying thing is i need to reboot every other day. this issue doesn't seems to be covered much?
OK Google not working? Fix:
If you set up "trusted devices" to keep your phone unlocked, that is what stops "ok google" from working. Its been that way since the Galaxy S6. Don't know why they don't fix it?! Go to Settings/Lock Screen and Security/Smart Lock/Trusted Devices. Remove your Trusted Devices and it will work again.

Will this make ok Google work when screen is off?
You still have to press the power or home button to wake your device, and then it will unlock it with the "ok google" voice command instead of using the iris, fingerprint, password, pattern, etc.
In my case, Google doesnt work holding the home button for search

Mine works when I retrai the voice model.. but if I use bixby voice it never works again until I retrain... I wonder if the two are conflicting each other. Samsung is probably purposely sabatoging Google assistant. To push bixby. I've only had this issue since the release of bixby voice
I had this problem for a couple of weeks and it was bugging the hell out of me.
Ok Google would work, but it would not speak back to me, just bring up search results.
For me the problem was in languages.
I'm in the UK and no matter how many times I set the language to English as default, the damn phone would constantly show Settings>Google>Search>Voice: as "English (South Africa)"
But in Settings>Google>Search>Search Language it would show as what it should be, which is "English (UK)"
Anyway, basically what I did was clear cache and data in apps tab, then set my S8 Plus as pictured below.....but obviously choose your own language and make sure BOTH show the same language....default and the other. (see pics)
Also click 'Ok Google detection' and select 'Retrain voice model' (after the cache wipe etc of course and after you made sure both screens say same language.
Select Say 'ok google' any time.
plus, I selected trusted voice, so also unlock screen too.
if your settings look like mine in the screenshots.....should work.

Also, go to settings>Accessibility>Text-to-speech and make sure Default language is the same as on the other screens.
That's what sorted it all for me anyway....
Ok Google works fine for me as long as the phone isn't being charged. If it's being charged, it is as if my mic is disabled.

Here are some quick things to try that have helped me:
1) Restart your phone, its likely that going into high-battery saving mode disables mic and a lot of settings.
2) Remove trusted devices.
3) Reinstall and Uninstall Google
Ok so this is really annoying. On my lg g6, the phone can be locked and screen off. I can say ok google without touching the phone and it will unlock and be ready for my voice command. I am not get my s8 to do that. Ok google only works after physically unlocked. Then when i can get to open with ok google my daily briefing will not work no matter how I ask for it.
