Find the carrier specific forum for your G2. Go into the development forums and find a ROM. Download the ROM to your PC and boot your G2 to TWRP. Connect your G2 to your PC and drag and drop the ROM into your internal storage. Then, from TWRP, select advanced wipe. Wipe everything BUT internal storage. Then from TWRP, select install. Find the ROM you downloaded and flash. Then if the ROM requires a gapps package, repeat the transfer steps above, and flash that too. Reboot to system.

[Q] I am Bricked....i think

Ok, So i rooted my T-mobile G2x 2.3.3 and there were difficulties when i flashed the Cyanogen 7mod. The Rom worked but the only default was i didnt get data. Like i couldnt even get Edge. The only way to use internet and stuff was through wifi. SO then i reflashed it thinking it was a bad flash. But when i reflash through rom manager it gives me the option to downoad with google apps. so i clicked that option. It downloaded fine but on the reboot it stayed stuck on the 2nd LG screen. Am i bricked or if anyone can help id appreciate it alot.
U can't do it via rom manager. U have to flash recovery using nv flash, then u can try to flash custom rom. Remeber to wipe data and format system before flashing any rom.
U r not bricked yet
Check here to nv flash the cwm

Did you flash CWM via NV Flash. If not, do that. Then boot into recovery by holding down the power + volume down keys until you get the second boot logo. Then wipe the dalvik cache and the regular cache. That is usually why a phone refuses to boot.
Also, if your phone turns on it is not bricked. Bricked means when you press the power button nothing happens at all. You can be soft-bricked like you are, but it can be easily fixed. Nothing to panic about.
I did all of that im sorry if i gave you info wrong. Like i cant do anything it turns on but goes to the first LG screen then goes to the new LG screen with the blue streaks and it stays there. Then when i try to go into CWR it shows the LG with a blue and black loading bar below then shows as if its loading something then it just goes back to the blue LG screen and im stuck there.

You have stock recovery on the recovery partition, not CWM. You MUST flash CWM onto the physical recovery partition using NVFlash with the One Click flasher. You used Rom Manager and that doesn't install CWM onto the recovery partition. Once you have CWM properly installed you can enter recovery and revive your phone.

@OP, this is is correct. Use tga gunmann's nvflash tool from the development section. The process is super easy. Just make sure to follow his instructions closely. Just fyi, most people get errors during the nvflash process because they don't install the apx drivers appropriately, so take your time and read the instructions carefully.

Start off by wiping cache and then go to Advanced and wipe dalvik cache. If you still can't boot after that then try a full factory reset.
Just remember the first boot after wiping dalvik cache can take several minutes as android rebuilds the dalvik cache. All subsequent reboots will be MUCH faster.

Did you do as phburks said and go into advanced and wipe the Dalvik Cache. Most issues of not booting are related to the Dalvik Cache not being wiped after flashing a new rom. That is essential to getting your phone to boot again. A factory reset DOES NOT clear the Dalvik Cache.

Could be a bad download. I'd try downloading again. Use your computer to download again and save it to your microsd card. Then reinsert the sdcard, boot back into cwm and try again.

The reason I ask is that with cm7 you have to flash 2 separate zip files. First you flash the actual cm7 zip which installs the rom and then you flash the gapps zip which installs the Google apps (market, gmail, etc). Make sure you have both on your sdcard and then flash the rom first and gapps second.

Im glad you brought that up because when i first flashed Cyanogen i did also flash gapps but after i flashed gapps thats when i wouldnt get data. Do you know the reason for this? or was it could have been another bad flash?

Not sure. I'd just play it safe, re-download both, wipe data, and reflash both. Sometimes its hard to determine which step went wrong and its best and quicker to just start with a clean slate and redo everything.
I wont be able to post for a while so good luck.

LG Optimus G wont flash

Hey Guys,
Tried installing a custom rom on my LG Optimus G but stucked on LG logo on boot after installation. Now I try flashing the original kdz but when I lunch de flahing process from download mode, my phone turns on into recovery mode on its on. Can somebody help me? Is there another tool to flash kdz??

No, did that but my problem is solved, My problem is solved. I was able to flash using LG Flash Tool 2014.
Which procedure should I follow exactly not to stuck again. If I factory reset the Rom zip will be whiped. My phone takes no external SD.
Check Ur downloaded ROM MCDev again. That its OK and didn't corrupt..
On which Stock firmware u were before installing MCdev? You should be on 30C
Do you have a custom recovery ?
when flashing roms you need to wipe cache, data, and system before you flash recovery. It doesn't delete internal phone storage, files unless you choose to select it. This is how I do it in a custom recovery .twrp works good for the lg g2
The ROM is OK. I'm on 20G

I don't think you need to factory reset again after you flashed the rom if you did the things before it. Clear the cache and dalvik cache before starting up your device.
is data being wiped during factory reset ? You should
Select wipe data/factory reset and confirm
Select wipe cache partition and confirm
Select advanced - wipe dalvik cache and confirm
Select install zip from SD card
Select from internal SD card or wherever you placed it.
Select the ROM file and confirm.
then start the device. If you have the right android version and everything else you can wipe cache and dalvik cache then try Fix Permissions after flashing rom before you try to start up again.
Does the rom need you to be on a different android version or flash a kernel for it ?

But U have to Format Data and System Partition Also before flashing this ROM.
And U aren't on Stock Kitkat. May be that's the reason. Did U select ur baseband F180K during installation? And did u installed Custom Loki CWM recovery as mentioned in thread?
Everything is alright now. The phone doesnnt stuck on LG logo nomore. The problem was I was not on stock KitKat. I had to upgradde to stock 4.4.2 (30C) before flashing. Thanks to y'all

Try this
1. Reboot to recovery (TWRP)
2. Select wipe.
3. Select advanced wipe.
4. Check system.
5. Repair or change file system.
6. Select change file system.
7. Select format type.
8. Swipe to change.
9. Select repair.
there is one problem with stock rom. its encrypts the data partition right after installing stock rom, therefore twrp can't access data partition. i had similar problem earlier. this is how i managed to fix.
solution: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=67980158&postcount=7
i suggest you to stick with stock rom, because right now whatever roms or recoveries are made for this phone are blindly ported (just copy paste roms). i have tried about 3-4 roms for this phone, all had major bugs especially battery related. there is only one developer who made a stable rom so far is beingtejas, search his thread. if you really want to use a custom rom, try THIS rom made by gaurav kesarwani with help of beingtejas that is why i am suggesting it you otherwise it didn't worked for me atleast.

Cannot decrypt TWRP data - please help

Hello,
I have totally wiped my phone to clean install ROM. However, now TWRP is asking for a password to decrypt data. I gave the password I set but it is showing wrong password. I don't understand, I am sure I am using the right password. Was on Venom 1.7.0 and disabled password on first boot. On the latest 1.27 base as well. Tried fastboot but device doesn't detect on fastboot :/ Not sure what do now, please can someone show me how can I get rid of this issue? Thank you.
Taking from Second Post by Nkk71 of TWRP Thread.
while still in TWRP, use the TWRP File Manager to navigate to /data/system and delete all the locksettings.* files (such as locksettings.db, etc). When you reboot, the password will be gone.
Unfortunately, I cannot access my internal storage. Hence I don't see any files. I don't mind wiping it clean and starting over. Can I downgrade with the help of a RUU?

Thanks man! :good: I also stumbled across some "default Passwort" which I didn't know and even after installing new ROM I still couldn't access my device. Even after having wiped cache and dalvik and all partitions. So this second wipe AFTER installing the ROM did the job!

Be careful because this erases everything on the phone and you have to install everything once again
EDIT:
I don't understand if this can be achieved with stock ROM. In case it is not possible: how to flash another ROM if no root access is possible? I just wanted to have a rooted stock ROM. Please help.

I cannot flash TWRP or any Mods

I just got this phone and i have OEM Unlock enabled. I am due to sell my old phone in few days so i am in a bit panic mode right now :\
When i try to flash TWRP along with the instruction that were here (i tried with only applying both or only dm-verity) the phone started to "start" flashing the Samsung logo but nothing happened and after 15-25minutes i tried to install this ROM and it also shows "Starting up please wait" but it also seems to start up indefinately.
Can you tell what is wrong now? It seems i can flash the stock ROM and boot to it but cannot install TWRP/Root nor any custom ROM's :\
Hey bro follow this.
Install stock ROM.
Boot into it once.
And flash TWRP. Disable auto reboot in Odin.
Then boot into TWRP directly from there.
Now swipe to allow modifications.
THEN GO INTO WIPE ADVANCED WIPE AND CLICK FORMAT DATA AND TYPE YES.
After format reboot into recovery once again.
Now again swipe to allow mods.
Now only install Dm-verity.
Reboot.
Now the phone will boot.
Go back into recovery to install your ROM it'll root the phone.

Sorry but still no dice (waited for ½hours to boot)
The data wipe did not even succeed. I attached screenshots of data wiping plus no-verity install if there is something anyone could use. I do not really understand how this is so hard... I have never encountered this kind of problem with common phone.

Dude I clearly mentioned, you have to click format data in advanced wipe. First try to read and understand then proceed. Click format data and then type yes and then you're good to go.

Damn. Sorry, i think that when going into advanced wipe there is no format there it's under normal wipe so i only thought that it meant that but yeah my mistake. I should have looked for format data and come to my own conclusions :\
Well first result of format resulted on loop boot and i could not even flash the stock rom with Odin (failed directly) but then i tried to flash TGP ROM via TWRP and it worked! So now i am using the phone as we speak!
Thanks a lot njaya95!
