Volsmart, 5.1, RK3188, root?

Hey guys! Been out of the rooting game for a while now. All these locked bootloader nowadays has that effect. Thank God for the Chinese! I just ordered a android head unit for the car from Amazon :

And I'm wondering what the root process is like for one of these. I'm not sure sure if I should be looking for this specific device, or just something generic based on the software version for instructions. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

I have Volsmart 5.1 Mtcd-kgl mcu version 1.75_1. If your Mcu version is older, you can ask the seller to give you the latest firmware.
You can use Malaysk MTCD ROM.
I used Malaysk Rom v5 and then upgraded to V6. My HU is running without issue. Malaysk ROM is a pre rooted ROM.
Make sure that you know how to get to recovery menu of the head unit.
Right after upgrading to Makaysk ROM, it is hard to get to recovery to clear cache and data. Keep trying several times, you will be able to. After this, getting to the recovery is normal.
If you don't want to use Malaysk ROM, use Kingo Root, just follow the Xposed LP thread under MTCB development. I did try it successfully before I used Malaysk ROM.

So basically it's just as simple as flashing a different rom, eh? Sounds a little too easy lol

I bougth a head unit Volsmart android 5.1.1 for my Toyota Corolla 2009 at Amazon.com. I wrote directly to the vendor and they sent me an update with MCU 1.92.a1 dated in 10/16/2016, I let the link here. By the way I could not intall Malaysk because after doing the manual reset the head unit never found the Dupdate.img in the GPS car, I do not know why.

Do you have a link for the latest mcu update? The people at Volsmart have not been very helpful with my inquiries.

[PX5][MTCD] Octa Core Android 6.0.1 MCU Update

Hello developers,
i own for a while now a MTCD Android Head Unit with the following specs:
Model: A-Media AUTO (1024x600 W)
Android: 6.0.1
MCU Version: MTCD_GS_V2.32_1 (4th March 2017)
Kernel-Version: 3.10.0 [email protected] #390 (3rd March 2017)
Build-Number: px5-userdebug 6.0.1 MXC89L user.hct.20170304.091130 test-keys
The device had from new a few issues:
the device works perfectly after a cold start (after it was minimum 3-4 hours OFF): it is very fast, very responsive. Everything works, from W-Lan to Bluetooth, GPS etc. BUT after 1-2 hours it becames very unresponsive, very slow, the GPS signal is very unstable, and the W-lan connection disappears and reappears every 10 to 20 seconds. A force restart does not help. The only thing that helps is shutting it down, and wait a longer time.
Altough i am suspecting a CPU Temperature issue, I tought I will give a firmware update a try. But im am not very familiar with the MTCD devices, and i would like to ask for your help:
- How can I find if there is a update available for my device, and if so, how can i be sure that it is compatible with my device?

Thanks for your fast reply. I have found the updates I need. (MCU Update + Android Update) and installed them without any problems today. I will test the unit for 1 week, and than share with you if the problems that I mentioned in my other post are gone.
For the other users that have the same problem here are the updates needed for the MTCD_GS_V2.32_1

Identify MCU Manufacurer

Hello All,
I've used the XDA forums for research in info for a long time but I'm new to posting to the forums so I hope I'm posting in the correct location for this.
I have a new HU and am trying to identify the manufacturer so I can hopefully find the correct ROM and recovery for it.
HU Specs:
MCU - MTCE_HT_V3.13c_1
Model & Hardware - PX30(1024x600)
Android Version - 9
Build Number - rk3326_mid_userdebug 9 PQ2A.190305.002.20190603.120251 test-keys
As I understand, the HT portion of the above MCU should designate the manufacturer but I don't find them listed in any of the known manufacturers lists. If anyone can assist with identifying who they are and if there are any ROMs I can safely use with this HU I would appreciate it very much. Please let me know if I need to supply any other info. Thanks.

Seicane PX5 MTCP_HF MCU file wanted

Hey, i'm a lucky owner of my Seicane Head Unit for my old Honda Jazz.
I'm looking for a MCU file of my HU.
Right now i have MTCP_HF_V3.30_1 version
It's Android 9, PX5 device
If anyone can help with MCU file (or provide a list of file which is fully complatible with current one) i will really appreciate it.

Compatibility with MTCD/MTCE (this forum section) is not very clear...

Yes, MTCP. As far as i understand P - is for 8-channel audio. Maybe there are some other differences, but this is the one i'm aware of.
Can you please share what you have? i will try to check if it can be flashed on my HU.

I have a MTCE_HF with MCU v. 3.30 (the latest known on the net), but I suspect it's not compatible with your HU, but anyway you have already a v 3.30, even if it's a v. 3.30_1 (for MTCP?).

Hello everyone. I received an updated Firmware directly from seicane for their head unit. This is Android 10 update for the 2/32 GB unit. Everything seems to be working great so far on unit. If you would like to try it for yourself please feel free to download and install. I'm not too tech savvy so if you have any questions I'll answer them the best I can. Upgrade Android 9->10. PX6 10.1 RK3399 MTCE_KSP. HELP - Various Issues.

Hi Guys, I've been plugging away doing my own researching trying stuff etc. Just wanted to jot down my experience and see if anyone wants to chime in on a few things to help.
I ended up upgrading from my unknown version of Android 9 PQ2A to Android 10 CHS2 IMG -> Download Here
Updating my MCU Firmware from version 3.04 to 3.54 -> Download Here
I tried a number of different images, some not booting, some having a error on the screen MCU doesn't match type stuff. Tried those fixes but they didn't work. Tried the different mod packs but to be honest so many are so ugly.
But OK so I've settled on Android 10, everything works generally OK but I have two issues.
1. My sound used to be alot louder so I presume I had a patched MCU previously. How can I get this patched (file shortcut above)? The android amp mod software doesn't work.
2. My WIFI while it works is generally problematic compared to my Android 9. Is there any patch for Android 10 to fix WIFI related issues?
3. Is there any other Android versions I could update to? That may work with my KSP MCU version? Android 11 or 12 with the same styling as my CHS2.
4. Rooting the headunit seems to be an impossible task, mines not rooted but the mod packs available on here look horrible so I have just left it stock, anyone know of a better way?
But yeah looking for the MCU Sound Patch for my version which isn't available anywhere on the forums and the tools seem to have been removed, and if there's any root or other versions of Android etc.

SoundPatched only works on non-DSP devices, if you want a newer one you need to ask cs-x(RU) to adjustmentit , send him a private message:

I personally use Hal9k paid mod 5.2.0 and have no problems, but other users report both bluetooth and wifi problems, mostly with the WQ_RF210 driver, probably a general problem with the latest android 10 updates. They report the same problem on Dasaita. Same problem with bluetooth, also has android 11, so until they release a fix, all I have to do is try older updates. Good luck.
