Hello,
After a failed Windows 10 upgrade attempt, my HTC 8x was working fine however after few days I attempted to soft reset it and all hell broke loose! Its stuck in reset gears loop ever since.
Note: Being a non-poster member (so far), I'm not allowed to post outside links so unable to post screenshots!

http: //s1.postimg.org/jk31zmncf/image.jpg
I have tried the below however not successful, any help is appreciated...
1. Attempt to hard reset by holding down the volume down key while powering on the device > Result: Doesnt show the Exclamation ( ! ) symbol
2. Windows Phone Recovery tool doesnt detect the phone > choose my phone was not detected > Start the phone in boot loader mode by holding both volume up and down keys while powering on > It goes to boot loader mode however reports "Software package is not found on server"!

3. RUU_ACCORD_WR_GDR3_00_MR_HTCCN_CHS_CT_4.13.1401.03_0.21.70_RETAIL_ENC_RELEASE.exe and similar packages > Old package error
http: //s22.postimg.org/gfcdp55s1/NBFError.jpg
4. HTCDeviceInfo.exe successfully detects the device however HTCRomUpdater fails to flash .NBH file http: //s18.postimg.org/5kpf6h70p/HTCRom_Flashor_Error.jpg
5. FFUTool.exe doesnt detect the device! http: //s2.postimg.org/52daia255/FFUTool_Failure.jpg
6. Thor2 doesnt decte the device http: //s4.postimg.org/ei60y1b1p/Thor2_Error.jpg
Is there ANYTHING else I can do to get this device working? Or buying a new phone is the only solution?
Fixed!
I was able to fix the device using NSU with original firmware FFU.
Where did you find?

I am well aware of that. Do you guys think we will ever be able to install W10 on our phones. Contacted HTC support and they said that the 8X will not be compatible with W10 because of some hardware limitations, but they were not willing to tell specifics. What are the chances that we will be able to still install W10 by unofficial means?

Can you maybe go into a bit more detail on what you had to do to get the original firmware on the device? I'm having the same problem after getting the update from MS today.

The fact is that the update was sent to ALL HTC 8X in the world. Mine installed the update during the night without my consent.
Microsoft will probably blame Skynet for trying to terminate all and each 8x there is.
Well...Mine is broken now. I'll be waiting for official fixes.

My HTC 8x routine now:
1- Turn On.
2- Show message about the unsuccessful update.
3- Play the alarm (set to play daily at 7 am)
4- Turn Off.
5- GoToAndPlay(1) hahahahahahahha
Spent hours to restore some other rom, only got "INVALID VENDER ID" (sic) by the ROMUpdateUtility. My phone completed the update, seems to work fine, just reboots randomly after a couple of minutes. Had to setup wifi after a hard reset, otherwise apps were missing, including the Settings app. And the letters are tiny. This is sad and hilarious. Also, camera is gonsky.

I think you misunderstood me, no roms worked. There are many on the internet, even here on this forum. There seems to be an id in the phone and it does not match with the package.
Tried these with my t-mobile branded EU phone, all invalid.

EDIT: Managed to buy an y-cable and the rom flashed from the pen drive! Back to 8.1 again.

hi all,
I bought a samsung omnia 7 from ebay and it's got the 7003 build.
the nodo update didn't came till now. I've tried all the posibilities to update to nodo , but no luck. i've observed that most of the posibilities to update are for the build 7004. is there a way to install build 7004 on my phone?
thanks.
Did you try the special upgrade tool Microsoft just released a few days ago? I thought that was designed for this purpose.
check out the stick thread named "get nodo right now" or something like that
worked for my omnia
i've tried every posibility except the rom tools and still no update.
i cannot do anything with the method from thread "get nodo right now" because when I start the command application I select a language and after that the applications exits without any message.
Do you think that if I install another ROM with this method : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=973420 .. it will help me?

You are in a much better position than the rest of us 7003ers. Fortunately, there have been Omnia 7 rom leaks so you should be able to easily flash any 7004 rom; from there you can go on to NoDo with minimum problems.
i will try to flash a new rom and see what hapens..
Thanks

Hello.. seems I am in the same boat with a HTC device I purchased off ebay.
After some googling it looks like ive got a pre release build.

The command line update tool stops running after selecting the phone language.
Trying to work out some work around to fool the software in thinking there is a newer build on the phone.. somewhere in the registry?

I'm having the exact same problem with a Samsung Focus.
-Bought it on eBay, and don't live in the US - so I can't bring it to an AT&T store.
-Won't detect updates via Zune
-Windows Phone Support Tool doesn't recognise that the phone is in the "connect to PC" state
This really blows. To top if off, there are no ROMs available for the Focus yet. I think I'll just have to wait until they become available.

Yes! I'm finally off 7003, thanks to the ROM posted in the Focus developer section. I initially viewed it with scepticism as nobody else had success with it, but then again, nobody else was having the same problem as me - a Focus stuck on 7003.
My phone must be a developer device. I didn't even know that developer Focuses (Focii?) existed. The ROM shows up in WP7 Downloader as "WP7_ENGINEER", and users with retail devices couldn't flash with that image.

Hello.
I cant update my HTC TITAN to 8773.
I have tried the disconnect trick and successfully update to 8112.
But when i to the trick again and get the update 8773 the update fails when Zune at step 7 fails to backup the phone. Nothing happans and finally the phone reboots and says that the update fails.
I have tried on 3 differint computors but no luck.
When i try the cab method (if I understoud it correctly) I also get failed.
Se print for error code. It says that I dont got any space on the phone but I have plenty 8gb free. I have also tried to reset ´phone to factory defaults but the same error. What to do?
Error:800705B4
And now when I open som installed appz on the phone nothing happens, only get a black screen and I have to press the "back" buttom in order to get the the program to start correctly.
Try installing this update: http://www.htc.com/www/help/htc-titan/#download

Still the phone dosent backup the phone in step 7 and then restarts and says update fail. Any other tip?
The only thing I can think of doing is to try and roll back to the previous version via Zune, No guarantees though, Sorry I cannot help other than that :-(
Is your phone a Branded Carrier handset? ie: at&t ? I would imagine if it is then at&t will have their own version of the update which of course you will have to wait for them to push it to your phone.

Now that's a bummer, Strange there is no option to revert back to 8112 or even 8107, Did you hard reset after 8112? maybe worth a try.

It didn't work i'm afraid. What's really odd is that the phone is on froyo 2.2.2 and the OTA update from the phone says there's no update available. Yet the lg update tool tells me an update is available yet after it has downloaded and about to 'install' it stops and says that the update cannot continue because a 'fatal error' has occured ?
Very odd. I'm guessing the orange bloatware is the problem. I HATE orange !
Edit. Ok, i just installed all the flashing tools to my pc (win 7) But when i open flash tool a window appears saying 'lg usb/parallel key is not detected. i'm also asked for a password and id ?

Copy the indicated file over the original as instructed or use 1.2 if you want. You also have to run the installer before using it...It might be a good idea to run it in xp sp3 compatibility mode.

I've now tried all methods and nothing works. The furthest i have got so is to hit the yellow start button on the flash tool, but the port does not become ready. I have followed all instructions to the letter.
Recheck step 1 details carefully. Be sure antivirus and Defender are off when downloading and decompressing. It won't start until drivers are installed correctly.
You should see the devices in device manager with no 'blinking' of the omap device, and LG CDMA USB SERIAL, on which you change the port number to 41. Then you are ready to flash.
That part is fiddly.
UPDATE:
I managed to fix it by first running the ACDU fix and then installing the European RUU over it! It even updates now!!
ACDU.exe (click the button on the right to download)
Released RUUs for HTC 8X (make sure to get one that corresponds to your device!)
KEEP IN MIND THAT THIS HAS WORKED FOR ME AND MY SECURITY UNLOCKED DEVICE,
THERE IS NO GUARANTEE THAT IT WILL WORK FOR YOU
IF YOU BRICK YOUR DEVICE, IT'S ON YOU.
Steps:
Put your device in the bootloader screen by powering it off, and then turning it back on while holding the vol up + vol down buttons simultaneously.
Connect the device to your computer and let Windows locate and install the driver needed. Wait until the driver is fully installed and/or you can see the word USB written on the bootloader screen.
Run the ACDU.exe file and let it do its job (This supposedly unbrands your phone!). It should restart a couple of times showing a green screen and then eventually go into the bootloader menu. It might say something like "UEFI for Key Provision ONLY" in red letters, ignore that.
Run the RUU you've downloaded and if everything goes as planned it should flash correctly. If not, make sure you've downloaded the correct RUU for your device and that it's not corrupted.
Enjoy your (unbricked and) updatable security unlocked device.
I hope this helps!!

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hello,
I have an HTC 8X that appears to be security unlocked and therefore could not receive updates.
In my infinite wisdom, I decided to try to flash the European RUU that has been released in the internet, hoping it would allow me to update the phone further. I did not proceed unprepared and I did indeed check that the phone was European (it initially had the OS version: 2.00.401.03) so it looked as if everything matched.
However, after starting the update, RUU flashed some UEFI related files and then the phone restarted. It started up and resumed the main firmware flashing process, stopping at the 1% mark and restarting back the bootloader.
The error code reported by RUU is the following:
Error [340]: ENCSS_VERIFY_ERROR
SSD Error, please flash subsystem does not encrypted image
The error message is kinda incoherent and I can't find anything about it (except in a thread in XDA, where someone states that this might be because I need an American firmware?), what's worse is that I'm left with a soft-bricked device that I can do nothing with since it can only boot to the bootloader.
The device is unlocked, unbranded and security unlocked (CID: 11111111), yet I'm still stuck.
If I try to flash only the UEFI stuff (by removing the RUU .nbh from the directory), the device is then able to boot to the HTC logo and get into the dual gear screen, where it gets stuck. The hard reset option does not seem to work at all, the phone restarts at the HTC logo if I keep the vol down button pressed. Strangely, I can get into the lightning screen but I dunno what that might do.
Did I mention that the device cannot shutdown? Yeah... It only restarts...
Does anyone know any way to fix this? Or why this might be occuring?

I've managed to fix it and I've included the solution in my first post. I hope this helps.
This just skips the CID check.
You can also change the CID by command to like HTC__001 and get the OTA's and be able to install RUU's the normal way.

Well, after updating to GDR3, it seems that the bootloader messages have changed.
As of right now, it says
Security Unlocked
PM2320001 P S WP8 I (Before flashing ACDU, I think it used to be only "PM230001")
SBL1-1.0.21009.0
SBL2-1.0.21009.0
SBL3-1.0.21009.0
RPM-1.1.03078.0

Ah, that's unfortunate. I don't know of a way to bypass the version check. =/ I don't understand why they're making things so difficult for end users. If you're flashing a full ROM, then you don't care what the previous one was... The only thing I can think of is that maybe on each update they blow a fuse so that you can't go back, like on the Xbox360
xmoo said:
This just skips the CID check.
You can also change the CID by command to like HTC__001 and get the OTA's and be able to install RUU's the normal way.

Well, unless we can find a way to bypass the OS version check set by HTC (or MS?), I guess you're stuck. =(
I was thinking of updating to 8.1 but after the whole ordeal above, I said "**** it, I'll get it when it's updatable! I'm not taking the change of bricking it again.."
..This captcha thing is starting to get very annoying...

I think the OS version check set by htc.Because htc8s can still downgrade by reflashing ruu.I am very happy to update wp8.1,but bricked.
@Potis20 Can you re-upload the ACDU.exe file? The link says the file was removed...
Can someone upload ACDU.exe fix file again??

I don't have the ACDU file but I was able to unlock my phone using the ACDU_UEFI_PROV_KEY.nbh file.
1. Download ACDU_UEFI_PROV_KEY https://mega.co.nz/#!UlMS1CyQ!rX-5-U6mmBHncVw6etFYeuSuV-OLX1De-jgkgEGf6FU
2. Put the ACDU file in the same directory as the ROMUpdateUtility (move the other .nbh files to another folder)
3. Run ROMUpdateUtility.exe
4. Phone should flash and unlock
5. Delete the ACDU_UEFI_PROV_KEY file
6. Move the UEFI_signed.nbh and RUU_signed.nbh files back
7. Run ROMUpdateUtility.exe again to flash ROM
Can someone upload ACDU.exe fix file again??
please !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi! I have a Idol 3 (6045I variant) and everytime I try to restore to stock using Mobile Upgrade Q it gets to the part where it says "Searching the server for latest available software" then the phone turns on normally and it says "Download update software package failed. Please check your internet connection." and it does this on two computers that I have tried with two different upgrade Q versions. Could someone please help me identify the problem?
It seems Alcatel abandoned our device.

Ha, ha...
Look the reason you are getting the message is because you restored your phone once on IP 240.4.4.xx.x.xx.xx. If you use another IP address you would not get that message. So, use a vpn or change you IP or use someone else's internet connection. It has happened to me more then once and was very frustrating as until I figured it out. Go to google and type in "What is my IP address" and start their.
HEY OFF TOPIC but can you believe that XPOSED is finally released for Nougat!!!!

This doesn't seem to be the case because even after using a different internet connections and a vpn it still throws out an error message and after updating to a newer version of upgrade q it says "There is no greater version available to upgrade your phone" which doesn't make any sense.

Use this program here ...
https://mega.nz/#!9UdDGJLI!9S87X0wH0OEc3nKSd7dZHCES7RpDW8iWpPnPSqCPLzs (I'm trying to think of how this goes by memory so bare with me)
make sure you have the drivers installed. extract the file and the password is in the txt file. I can't remember the exact steps, but I think it will do some type of update or you go to "get version" if you don't see 6045 in the device list. once it's there you can go to the grey box besides get version that says update or download or something. my brain heh I can't remember, but then you click that and it will bring you back to stock. I did it on my 6045O flawlessly. It brought me right into the latest update. also if you go into the program files and go to the Sugar software folder after it's downloading the latest firmware for your phone and you go to the bin folder you should see a downloaded folder with your model number plus some other numbers and letters. copy that to your desktop. once that's done find the file starting with "R" that is the recovery image. delete that and replace it with twrp recovery image and just name it recovery. go back into the main Sugar folder in the program files and replace the folder with your model number with that folder. you also see a folder named download. that is the downloaded firmware you can delete that folder and just leave the modded folder with your model number containing the twrp recovery image. meanwhile, go through the setup process on your phone and skip all the steps you can and go into the phone. go to the about device and tap on the build number to unlock the developer options. make sure the OEM bootloader unlock is toggled and I just changed the usb debugging also although I don't think that's necessary. go back into the Sugar program and then go to just the update or whatever it is beside the get version and click that and it will update the phone with the latest firmware and it will put the custom recovery on it. make sure once it's done downloading you unplug it and turn it off then go into recovery mode by holding the power down and volume up until the main logo comes up then let go of power and keep holding volume up until twrp boots up. make sure you already have the latest SuperSU zip on your sdcard. go to the terminal or sometimes one comes up from the beginning and enter the systemless supersu line/code or whatever you call it and then hit enter or if it will go straight into twrp first do a factory reset in the advanced wipe tab then the systemless supersu terminal line code and then install the supersu zip. that's it. your back to the latest firmware and rooted. oh and btw, I forgot if you have to be in download mode when you are using the Sugar program. I play around in several phones so forgot at the moment. If you need to go into download mode just plug in the usb as your holding power, volume up and down at the same time and then when it goes into the download mode screen hold volume up for 5-10 seconds until the screen goes black. I hope it helps and sorry if any of this is confusing. It can be a bit advanced for some.

Press and hold the Volume up button, then briefly press the Power button. Keep pressing the Volume up button. Scroll to the desired language using the Volume down button, then press the Power button. Scroll to wipe data/factory reset by pressing the Volume down button.
Then try to do an update OTA.
If you are running stock and have for the last 6 months or so, their are not any new updates???
Just curious why you would think their is an update??
Also, "There is no greater version available to upgrade your phone" chewyboy0 admitted that Mobile Q software does work because Mobile Q software had to go out to the Alcatel servers to check which version he had.
Finally, Also, you gave no reference of whether you are running stock ROM, Rooted?? TWRP?? or for that matter whether you Samsung Galaxy phone can be plugged into the Mobile Q software. In other words, your coming up a little short on details.
I am running a custom ROM and I wanted to go back to stock for various reasons but I will try one of the methods above.

Bah i don't care anymore my 5.5 battery does strange things so i get a Xiaomi Mi5 from work to replace it.
I am from india, using 6045k, lost duel sim support duo to flashing of marionette's Rom. Still trying to get duel sim back, tried eluga firmware also, but unfortunately i didn't get any error at 45%. Now i am using flyos 2.0, its working like charm. But only one sim is there, i tried several software upgrader versions, but server is not connecting, its always stuck at 20%.
Pls help me.

Currently Alcatel has disabled the posibility of reflashing a stock ROM with Mobile Upgrade Q, so the only way is by flashing via TWRP or Sahara tool.
I have a 6045Y in latest stock MM (Build 22) and i'm incapable of performing a flash with Mobile Upgrade Q in order to clean my modified /system, the worst thing is that there is no flashable zip of this version which contain many critical fixes. I'm too very annoyed with this change of policy of Alcatel/TCL, they want me to buy a new smatphone but I'll not give them that pleasure, the Idol 3 5.5 is the best smartphone i've ever had in terms of hardware, it's a shame...

Actually, software upgrader can do the job. But the problem was slow server speed. Use q. 5.1.8, simply connect your in switch off condition, and try upgrading, if its not working, try VPN. I tried psyphon VPN connected to USA. In india serveris very slow.
6045k still running on lilopop, thats why people go going for stock roms.
