i recently bought an s4 from eBay and its was too god for the money. and the models shows in the about section shows it as i9500 and i checked its IMEI and it shows its as legit. few weeks later i was checking the specs and CPU Z shows that its the snapdragon model. also the back sticker shows the same IMEI number but its clear that its not an original sicker. first i was mad thinking that i got a clone but every specs are that of original air gestures, IR blaster and the display the camera quality is also exactly the same as others s4 i have compared it with. and the antutu score is around 27000
when i goto download mode it says that that the phone is sprints variant f s4( am using it on another gsm network without a problem, even though i dont know ho it got unlocked). and i also says that KNOX is 0x1 and write protection is enabled and binary and system status are labeled as custom.
the funny thing is the phone dosnt have any system update option in its about section.
so tried to update it to lollipop but flashing with Odin failed many time as soon as t starts and it shows secure check error on the phone and i also tried flashing modems, bootladers, kit kat but all fail with the same error the only thing i was able to flash till now is CWM recovery fr the i9505. and my phone is rooted when i bought it and it works fine without any glitch
now i dont mind the other mix up as why the seller wanted to pass the phone as i9500 even though its the prints variant of s4 (i9505) but i want to be able to flash anything i want. and i would be very happy if some one enlighten me why flashing fails and how can i fix it????????????

So I went and bought a nice Galaxy s6 64gb today off a local website... the box imei and phone matched up. Looked great and the price was right (a little too right).
I just read an article on how to spot a fake and the majority of it does not apply... the only thing that did was my flash window looks yellow but its a working flash. Resolution looks great, sim slot hole isnat the top, when i go to download mode, its english and states the rogers model #. It was suppose to be a rogers device....
I tried downloading odin, rogers official firware but it just fails!
The bottom line is, i need to know what the heck the phone is... so i can unlock it to work.
Here is the WEIRD STUFF! It has superuser installed, so its been rooted and most likely a custom rom. When i go into settings... it gets weird. Device name Galaxy s6 EDGE!?
MODEL #sm-G925k (download mode says rogers proper model #. Baseband version g920w8vlu2bO16
Build xtrestolite deo mod 2.4
So, any help figurimg out what model and or carrier its locked to would be appreciated. If it is infact a rogers phone, like a few clues point to... why wont it take the rogers firrmware!?
First goal is to unlock it for use, second would be to have the settings make sense?!
Thanks in advance

It is a bit difficult to catch your English, so some screenshots from what you are describing would help so much.
Anyway, first at all, you wanted to bought a new s6 or a used s6? Also, are you asking if your device is a clone/fake s6, or you know it is a clone and you are just asking about it to other clone s6 owners?
Enviado desde mi SM-T520 usando Tapatalk 2
I tried attaching the photos... can i do that via the website?
I first thought it might be a fake because of all the crazyness.... but so many other things point to it to being legit. I bought it used.
But the device name, firmware.... is all messed up. I need to unlock it, so i need to know what carrier it is locked to. Then, id like to restore it to factory oem os. No root, no rom
Try official firmware from sammobile and flash via odin.
Link? My concern is... i dont really know what firmware to use because im not sure of the model.
The one i did download and try was the rogers official rom from xda/androidromz
Thx

If flashing original s6 stock rom from Samsung worked fine on four device, it means it is a original s6; otherwise, if it would have been a clone, it would have bricked your phone.

Dude upload images of your phone on and off just post pictures use google look for image upload or do something post photos
in xstrestolite rom even on my g920f was showing g925f, so I guess thats normal for that rom, all other roms and fw showed g920f
So I bought a 2nd hand S6. The price was good, not great, but good and the phone functions very well with no issues. I probably didn't look at it as closely as I should have, but live and learn. Anyhow, the phone is still on 5.1.1, so I went to flash it in Odin to 6.0.1 - nothing worked. The model says it's an SM-g920f, however, when I go into download mode it's listed as an SM-g920p. Also, the bootloader etc are all 920p. I didn't think twice about it being the f model as I am an American, but I live in the philippines. It is very common to see the international versions of phones here. I know that the p model is common in the US as a sprint phone, and I should have keyed on the fact that when I opened the browser, it took me to the sprint webpage right away. The device is of course rooted. I cannot upgrade it using smart switch. Of course when I initially tried to flash it in odin with a 920f rom, it failed miserably. So, I am wondering if I flash it back to a stock 920p, will it cause me issues?

Note 2 LTE - suddenly sim locked again ???
hint: only read the Bold letters to make it short
ok, im allmost ready to give up this time...dont know how many of these threads i read allways to find a sullution to my problem, but it seams i finally have to ask for help myself.
Yeah, this is my first post, but ive been arround for a while, anyway this time, i need your active suggestions...
the History:
The phone: Samsung Galaxy Note2 GT-N7105 LTE ( t0lte ): initially locked to the Austrian Carrier A1, but i bought it allready unlocked.
Back then 2013 managed to flash and root via clockworkmod and wanam light rom, without triggering knox - thanks to you guys in here...chears again for that...
I hardened the system quite good and gave it to my mums - not touching it for years -or hardly, finally 2016 seamed to be time for an update. Didnt care much for the knox anymore and simply updated recovery to TWRP 3.0.2 and cyanogenmod 13.0 - 20161118-NIGHTLY ( recconed simplest Marshmallow upgrade ), installed the basics - thats it - left the phone with my mum again.
Got back few weeks later - i had realized my mum wasnt reachable on her phone anymore - figured she could still make calls herself, strangly she even would still be reachable when called via landline , but for some reason not from any cellular networks - so i went for a visit and thinking it might simply be a problem with her sim - i swaped her sim for mine - when turning the phone back on it now asked me for an SIM-unlock code...WTF!!! (and befor anybody asks my mums sim network was never A1 either)
- everything else seamed fin - imei and baseband still ok, sys stable as far as i could tell - only thing i noticed it had updated cm-13.0-20161122-NIGHTLY on its own...
Swaping SIMs didnt yeald any effet - so since that was the only thing that caught my eye i reverted back to 20161118-NIGHTLY and then back to my old wanamlight and finally even to original stock rom - problem persisted.
Searching i found 100 links like How to Unlock Your Samsung Galaxy S3 & Note 2 (No Rooting) , but no luck
Final resort, i even purchased an unlock code from UnLockBase but even that didnt work ...WTF!!!
So back to square one i found this Baseband Unknown and IMEI Null NOW WORKING | Samsung Galaxy Note II GT-N7100, N7105
But even if my imei and my baseband was ok i thought perhaps the efs migh have some taken some kind a hit - so i searched eveywhere and found my old 2013 backups: PIT-File and EFS-partition (DDed via terminal) - so i backedup the existing efs and restored the old-EFS-Backup back again - then i even used Kies to revert everything to the last bit.....but no luck....
..also UnLockBase-Code still doesnt work - (btw. the also provide an unfreez code but ...all the same ) so i rooted again and tried GalaxSIM unlock says unsupported Model....whatever!???!!!:crying:
only thing left is perhaps: buy a cheap mainboard via aliexpress and perhaps take allong the imei from the old motherboard...
but i hate giving up!!!
What do you guys think? ...any suggestions
...sorry for having to read all that...tried to help a little there
update: made a second thread in the N7100 forum part link

You would probably have better luck asking this in your device specific forum as the members there are more familiar with your model and its particular issues, it wouldn't surprise me if someone in that forum hasn't already had this issue on this model.

I've turned it over and chewed on it for a minute but with the troubleshooting that you've already done I can't for the life of me think of other steps for you to try because you've done everything I would do already plus I'm not familiar with your exact model. I'll keep it on simmer and hopefully a butterfly will land on my shoulder and bring something to mind that might help you. You've pretty much covered all the bases already.

How to downgrade from Nougat 7 to Marshmellow 6.0.1
If you want to save the thing's you currently have on your device, then do a backup using Samsung Smart-Switch.. Because everything WILL be deleted!
First open settings and go to about phone then tap 6 to 7 times on the Build Number until you see developer mode activated. Then go back to the settings list and look for Developer Options and tap it. Now look for OEM unlock and turn it on. This step is important and NEEDS to be done or you'll have problems later, not kidding!! In the same list as OEM unlock, look for, and make sure USB Debugging is on.. Make sure you have no accounts on the phone before starting this( if you're not going to enable OEM unlock) delete all of them especially Google accounts! If you don't do this you can be locked out for 72 hours! Delete any fingerprints and lock screen pins also!! (Create your backup using Samsung Smart Switch or KIES or whichever you want BEFORE deleting any accounts!! Meaning LEAVE your Google account on the phone until your backup is FINISHED and THEN you can remove it.)
On a Windows desktop download odin(unless you already have it) and download firmware number N920VVRS3BPI1 from my Android File Host here ----> N920VVRS3BPI1 onto your windows desktop. If you use any other firmware besides the one I'm posting, it may or may not work so I suggest you use this one first.
After downloading the firmware shut your phone off (Did you make your backup and save your stuff FIRST? If not DON'T start this) and then put it into download mode by holding the volume down button, the home button and the power button at the same exact time (all 3 together). When the screen turns on immediately let go of the buttons and press the volume up button to continue. At this point odin should be open on your Windows computer, connect the phone and when you see it says added on odin you need to go into options and uncheck auto reboot, you NEED to do this! This is the only thing you SHOULD be ticking in these settings, do not tick on re-partition or anything else. Then go back and tap AP and select the firmware N920VVRS3BPI1 that you downloaded (extract it 1 time on your PC first) and after it verifies (odin might crash and say it's not responding on some systems, just leave it be it will finish and work again) then tap start and let it finish. When odin finally says PASS and you see successful 1/ failed 0 then disconnect the phone and immediately press and hold the volume down button and power button at the same time and when the screen comes back on select factory reset and after its finished the phone will reboot on it's own and you're done and booting back to Marshmallow 6.0.1.
If you don't follow these steps correctly you're liable to get stuck or something else and your phone is not my responsibility if you do something wrong and it doesn't work it's because you made the conscious decision to do it likely you'll have no problem with this if you follow directions!!! I did all the testing on my own Samsung Galaxy Note 5 Verizon model before posting this and did it several times to be sure it worked correctly.
can you help me please with Note 5
can you help me please with Note 5
I have bought a Samsung note 5 from Dubai and it is working on my sim card at Egypt internationally for 5 months without problem.
I discovered that it is a Verizon modified to work internationally!!!.
However I was going to sell it and i did a factory hard reset to delete my personal data then the night mare began.
First of all the phone stuck at the set screen of accepting the terms and never reached the point where i can input my google email and password, whenever I accept the terms it get back to the first screen of language selection.
then i tired some pc applications to bypass the FRP lock but one of them made an uncomplete download which give an error and i can only enter the odin download mode nothing else ??
My question now is will your firmware N920VVRS3BPI1 solve this problem and let me use my local/international sim card line as before or shall it get me back to Verizon original firmware that is locked only to their lines ??
an update :
I have installed the firmware N920VVRS3BPI1 and it was amazing and working very well .... although it started with Verzion logo at beginning where i had a nightmare ha ha ha ... but after start every thing was ok and the sim card was accepted from Vodafone.

Just so you know you're using the wrong firmware on that phone because it's a N920F not a N920V that phone has an unlocked bootloader and can be rooted with chainfires root and it can pretty much accept whatever firmware because of the unlocked bootloader.

And I can upgrade to Android 7 ?
And still my Sim card from Vodafone can be working without being locked ????

There is a F model it's the international one.
SM-N920F
And it says Verizon now because he flashed the firmware from my android file host account.
Personally I don't think the phones real because that F version usually means that it's a knock off from Thailand.

In Europe galaxy note 5 is N920C. F version is a Verizon version, just аltered by unknown way. N920F version never existed only as a disguised N920V. Just google it and you will see. There is no official firmware for "N920F".

I know but as I said the F version is usually a knock off from Thailand. Personally I don't even think it's real because if the bootloader is locked then how did they get it to say F? The only way to do that is to open the phone and change the chip inside because there's no way a real Verizon Note 5 would be able to do that.

You should download something called phone info for Samsung so you can make sure the phone is real and not a knock off.. It should have the same exact specs a real one has and if it doesn't it's probably a fake one.
the phone info app is showing a real phone data ...... but when I enter the digits #*0*# it doesn't bring the test screen and the code *#06# doesn't show the IMEI .... is this normal for the Verizon phones ????
I may give this a go. Since receiving a replacement phone fr my original overheating one and getting Nougat update, this phone has been a pain...a real pain. Making phone calls activates the external speaker. I have to tap the speaker icon 3 times to get the ear piece speaker going then when call is answered it kicks back to the external speaker. Very fun in restaurants. Using Bluetooth radio while driving....forget it. Gmail will not download automatically. I'm about to go back to my Note 2.
Sorry for hijacking this thread.

Hello, i am new here ... I have a samsung galaxy S6 G920F, suddenly one day it can't registered on the network. then i show it to a maker who said to me that my IMEI number has been blocked and he can solved it ... so i take the service, after some day i notice that the maker some how change my IMEI number and all the USSD code of the set like (*#06#) are not working. also it can't be update, and when the set is restarting there show a warning in the top left corner in red color it said (the kernel is not seandroid enforcing). and the mobile baseband version is also changed to G920FXXU3DPCA that's why i am writing here, i check the IMEI number through the internet where it said that the IMEI status is cleaned. can any one tell me how i get the official firmware back so that i can update my device, present condition drained all my charged in 4 hours only. some said in the youtube that "SAMSUNG SMART SWITCH" can make the set virgin again .... but i m little bit confused that i never try anything like this. so that i need some expert HELP . thanking you ASIF
Wrong place to ask (should ask it in s6 section), but have you tried to flash a stock factory image (sammobile) with Odin?
First copy al your data you wanna save to your pc (photos, music etc)
^What this guy said. Just flash the stock firmware through ODIN.

Thak you for ur reply. I never try to flash any device before, thats why little bit of confusion. Over the youtube i get information about "Samsung Smart Switch" that it work all it self. Automatically download the required firmware and install by it self. Will it work for my S6's condition ?? And as i said the IMEI number has been changed so i m afraid of this if there any problm for this during installation with Smart Switch ?
